✓ Terrific!Excellent game. The gameplay is fantastic. It's exactly how it was. I bought an older version, but I wasn't able to get the latest update for some reason so I decided to buy it again, but it doesn't matter as it isn't at all expensive, haha. Also, there's a little bug. When I play, the music skips a little bit. It would be nice if that gets fixed as soon as possible. Other than that ... I can't complain. ✓ Identical to the classic arcade game apart from 1 thingI have to say I had forgotten how much fun this game was back in the day, and it's not lost anything through time. This app is truly amazing and is perfect for picking up for 5 minutes to try get past the next level, only problem is it's got that "just one more go" addictive quality to it, so 5 minutes can turn into 30 minutes easily. The only difference from the original is the you can move as fast as u like, so the speed power up doesn't really do anything, the speed power up was important in the original. However, being able to move quickly doesn't make it easier than the arcade version, reason being, you can't be as exact with the touch screen control, so you gain the speed but you lose accuracy, and it really balances out well, making the game as hard as it was before. I would recommend playing the game on normal and not making it easy on yourself. it's the trying to complete a level with a certain amounts of lives which gives this game it's "one more go" quality. ✓ Stuck on fourth lvlWell first of all this game is so wonderfully difficult probably the most difficult game I’ve ever played in my life. So I’m willing to share some brotherly slang to those out there who don’t understand what’s going on. “F***k!!!” means that I didn’t accomplish what I wanted. “What in the hell?!!!!!!!!” means I have no idea what hit me. “S**t!!!!!” means I missed a power up. “Are you freakin serious right now!!!!!!!!!” means I fought one of the bosses and died..Version: 2.4.0

✓ Excellent port, great controls, one problemClassic game, with great touch controls. The default controls have you dragging around on screen like you're using a mouse, and the ship moves relatively. This makes manoeuvring a lot easier than it was on consoles/in the arcade, but doesn't kill the challenge. By default the ship auto-fires but I prefer to switch that off and use the button. The only problem is that if you play on an iPhone, your thumbs can obscure oncoming bullets from the left sometimes, which can be a problem. I've not tried it on my iPad yet but perhaps that won't be as much of an issue there..Version: 2.0

Plus it's a bit cramped- the space I have to move horizontally and not cover the action with my thumb. Please give me an option to move and resize the game video. Check out the display options offered in another shmup, "Vritra"? (Not I'm not affiliated). R-type would be the ultimate experience if I could just resize and move the screen so I could have the space I like alloyed for thumb control and don't have the cover the game video. ✓ Retro Gaming at it's best!R-Type is simply one of the best arcade games of all time. This is the best version I have ever played. The graphics and sound are spot on and the game play controls work extremely well. You can customise the position of the buttons just drag them to where you want them. Perfect for left or right handed people. Great interface very clean and modern looking. With high score table and game centre support, R-Type is a must have game. Anyway the price is far less than the 10p pieces required to get any good at the arcade original. Got to level 4 on my first attempt, so I’ve still got some skills left. Need some practice at the boss though. The controls are slightly problematic. Touch and drag feels best, but the blind spot your hand leaves can catch you out. The original was rock hard, so I won’t blame it all on the controls. Having said that, the madman developer who gave R•Type a hard mode needs to go back on his meds..Version: 2.0

✓ Finally back on iOS!I just upgraded to the 5S from a 4S, and now the game is stretched! It makes it unplayable for me. There should be empty areas on the sides for wide devices. That would help with the general difficulty of playing horizontal shooters on touch screens. There's still a charge shot delay which makes the stage 6 boss a bit harder, and for some reason even if you lift your finger and immediately put it back, it sometimes won't fire. Fix the screen so I can play this again, please. I still haven't gotten the #1 score yet..Version: 2.0
