The music is very relaxing, and when you run full graphics it can be very visually stunning. No overly dramatic errors that others have cautioned about, but I've gotten stuck a few times and had to restart (and, as another reviewer mentioned, there are a few ironic typos). ✓ Must have game!Very similar to brilliant NightSky. This is gorgeous to play with music and graphics that combine to make a moving, informative and fun experience. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is because a) the sound and levels crash on occasion, b) there are many spelling, grammar and spacing mistakes in the text, made all the more ironic as this is a game concerned with the development of words and typefaces, and c) you can't skip the end credits to play the extra bonus level. ✓ Good in many ways but...It looks good, plays quite nicely. It's not a typical game in that it seems to be a platformer with integrated textbook. I have had to stop reading it though, because it is really really badly proofread. There are bizarre uses of punctuation all over and the tenses change frequently mid paragraph (often using the present tense to describe events 3000 years BC). Honestly, I'd be very happy to proofread it if you send me the text in an editable format. As it stands there is an error ("human's") in almost the first line of the book! Also, at least near the beginning you unlock a new section of the book very regularly, which does slow the gameplay down rather a lot... But at least reading it all is optional! I really want to like this, as typography and the history of letters are fascinating subjects, but please please fix the grammar!.Version: 1.1
✓ FontasticBeautiful with an ingenious level design, this is easily a five-star game. The physics are tricky and the decision to use a colon as the protagonist is sometimes very difficult. But all in all, this game works astoundingly well. That is, until Helvetica turns into a druggy dream. From there on, the levels are frustrating and I wish the designers had not chosen Pixel as the final font. That said, the hidden bonus level is insane — anyone who did not hate this font until then, surely will after playing the "LOL cat of death"..Version: 1.3

✓ Really great game...But there are 3 issues with achievements: ‘time attack’, ‘collect all letters’ and collect all the ‘&’ that are refusing to pop-up or acknowledge you got them. It’s frustrating considering they aren’t easy to get and I want to officially 100% the game. Collecting everything and beating all the levels (especially that maddeningly hard special level) were fun, but I’d like to get rewarded for my efforts with the trophies/achievements the devs put in the game as it gave me all the other ones so I’m not sure why it won’t give me the 3 I mentioned since I completed all requirements..Version: 2.0
✓ Worth your time(s)!!!The game is simple enough in premise yet challenging enough in practice to keep your entertained for short bursts and long hauls. The graphics are so beautiful and the music so pleasant that it's easy to forget that there is an educational modus at the heart of the game. The only glitches I've come across is that the speed of the game slows down by waterfalls or any other processor-gobbling obstacle and the game freezes if you try to read a recently captured asterisk entry while in the process of dying. ✓ Achingly beautiful & genuinely originalFirstly addressing the negative from other reviews, I've played through the first seven levels in multiple sittings & not yet experienced a single crash or instability in the app. This is a mesmerising game, exploring each "book" (levels themed around a particular typeface, historic period & accompanying artistic movement) is a real joy. I've already found myself going back to revisit some simply for their particular atmosphere. The platform game aspect can be challenging at times, but the developers have thoughtfully included three different control methods which players can switch between & I've found hopping between two of them allows enough finesse in control to complete all the puzzles so far. There's no limitation on "lives" and regular waypoints are spaced throughout the levels so it's easy to make progress while still being enough of a challenge to be satisfying. The documentary aspect could perhaps have been better edited - the text stumbles a little in places - and I would have enjoyed the option to zoom in on some of the illustrations. That said each of the little books you build up while playing forms part of an engaging and accessible primer on the history of typography, and if you've even a passing interest in design the game is worth playing just for that. It's almost certainly unlike any other game you've ever played, and it's really beautiful..Version: 1.3

Aside from the gameplay, I found the “booklets” interesting too. But then I’ve always had a soft spot for typography. However, I've gotten stuck a few times - and have had to completely re-do some levels, as a result. This feels like an oversight on the developers' end, as I'm completely unable to remove myself from some spots. For the most part, this is when both sides of the "dots" get stuck on the upturned edge of a letter. This happened twice on the Didot level! Music is pretty good too, if u really pay attention the music can help you sometimes get through certain parts of the levels. ✓ Simply wonderful.As a major fan of both typography, and minimalism , the game bring to the table an unimaginable game. No one can simply make "the history of font" a fun game, but here it is and "fun game" is an understatement this is a game on the same level as indie classics like braid or limbo. Easily controlled, tough to master, amazing puzzles both simple and challenging, while still unforgiving and accepting of failure. ✓ Ironic language mistakesThis game works well as a game. The gameplay is clever and the graphics are beautiful. However, the educational modules are quite poorly written, frequently changing from present to past tense in midsentence and also using long awkward wording that make the concepts difficult to understand. ✓ Lacks that somethingThis is by no means a bad game.. The design is great, the concept is fantastic and the music is perfect. However, it seems to be lacking that something that makes it memorable.. I've blasted through pretty much all of it so far and nothing has particularly grabbed me. It needs something, some kind of story or something to give it that final spark.. To fully bring it alive. Until then I would recommend it but with a warning: do not expect it to be a game you remember in a years time..Version: 1.2
