Hum for Positive User Reviews

(Almost) PerfectGreat app! If it had an option for multiple recordings per song idea then it'd be perfect.Version: 1.3.3

In LOVEI have had him for about a year. Every week it gets better with consideration from the users! I’ve been able to lock down and reall organize my pieces. New idea: multiple recordings within lyrics to separate segments I.e intros, verses, choruses, outros, miscellaneous ideas? One long recording is powerful but Segmented multiple recordings a piece would be PHENOMENAL!.Version: 1.11

Great tool for songwritersI really enjoy working in this app and the user interface is truly well done. It looks great now on iPhone 6. There are a couple key features that I'm still waiting for such as the Dropbox syncing and multiple audio tracks for each song idea so as to able to record new parts and revisions without losing work or having to create a new Hum file. If it had those features, this app would be just about perfect, and when those features come, I'll enthusiastically go out of my way to give it 5 stars and review it whenever it updates just to help promote it. Even as it stands, it's well worth the money and it beats using voice memos by a mile..Version: 1.2

Love HumThe best app for capturing musical ideas. Always on my home screen. This is a great update..Version: 1.10

Decent appVery helpful app. It could use some more features such as a system of writing down chords more easily, and perhaps more than one recording spot per song. Overall a very cool app that has a ton of potential..Version: 1.0.8

Hum is "humazing"(haha)Seriously though, this app does all what it says it does. There are no lags and ads and bugs. The design itself is simple, yet effective. You can sort your "hums" by keys and give your "hums" notes and such. The only thing I would recommend is if in a future update, you could make folders and put certain "hums" in certain folders. Otherwise, it's a great app!.Version: 1.0.8

Excellent!!I've been looking for an app like this for a while! So stoked to find it. Perfect for recording songs and lyrics and keeping everything organized. I have a lot of spontaneous jams and lyrics and I find it difficult to keep them all in separate apps, unorganized. This eliminates that problem. Fantastic!.Version: 1.5.1

AMAZINGOh GOD THIS IS AMAZING GET IT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THIS WOW IM SPEECHLESS.Version: 1.1.1

Songwriters Must HaveThis app has changed my whole writing process for the better! Instead of a zillion voice notes to come back to on my iPhone I have Hum. The organization is flawless and transfers easy for copyright & to send to producers, teams, etc..Version: 1.3.3

The best!I really really love this app, I’ve been using it for about a year now, and it’s absolutely fantastic. I would love for it to have to ability for multiple voice recording in one file. I find it a bit annoying when I have to record the voice again when I change my mind about the guitar..Version: 1.10.2

Good StartClean, clear and responsive but certainly missing some key features. For one thing, I'm hesitant to invest any time in this app without a way to backup or export my content. I would love to see a backup option to Dropbox or even iCloud and in addition an option to simply create a backup file that can be downloaded via iTunes or a web browser, similar to how awesome notes handles this process. I would also love to be able to create more recordings per song. Currently I just use the iPhones voice memo app to capture ideas for songs- melodies, harmonies, guitar parts, lyrics and often many alternates. My voice memo app is a giant list of musical ideas with only the names as organization. I would love to keep all my recordings within their respective "song" hence the option for an iTunes backup file. Some import features would also be a great addition but I could start fresh in Hum if I had to. Just please. Add a backup feature and some more powerful recording options with organization. Holding on to this one for awhile anticipating updates..Version: 1.0.8

Wrote an album with this appSeriously. Just finished with the recording sessions and it's in post production, so I was looking toward the next project and seeing if there had been any updates to this app, because I wanted to use it again. Very glad to see that development is continuing, however slow the pace may be. It has its downsides, but they are outweighed by the usefulness of the songwriter-oriented features. Buy the tuner IAP. I know you have a billion tuners around already, just throw them a buck and help to support this great app..Version: 1.6.2

Useful for Songwriting but Has IssuesGood app but Bluetooth support is lacklustre. Will work for one song and then disconnect..Version: 1.12

Best App for Songwriting on IOSI love, love, LOVE this app. It has everything I want except I just have one suggestion - it would be great if I could create multiple audio files for each file! Because sometimes I have to add onto the audio file later, and if I could either edit the existing one or create new ones I would be happy with that. Thank y’all again!!.Version: 1.10.2

Still needs sharingI enjoyed the app because of my songwriting ability. I love creating songs, however, it needs to add social media for sharing peers who is interested in any song. Maybe if there's an upcoming upgrade, sharing via social media will be better.Version: 1.5.1

An interactive notebookThis app is like a scratch book for your songs. You can write the lyrics, hum a melody, and sort by all sorts of tagging options. It's definitely a good run for a first version, but it's pretty involved. You have to tag the mood, tempo, and key of the song. I would love to see an update that would let me anchor chords IN with lyrics, since right now that's up up you to do. It would be especially useful if one could shift the key and automatically shift the chords. All in all, this app is mostly to keep you organized...don't expect it to so any of the work for you. That being said, it's nice to not have a million half written songs in my notes app..Version: 1.0.1

Just what I've been wantingThis is exactly the app I've been waiting for and wanting. I have no interest in making multi-track recordings on my iDevice; I just want a quick way to get ideas down. And this app fulfills that function perfectly. Great, simple app. PS - another reviewer complained that the app doesn't allow you to give each recording a name, but that's not true. The song is named after the first line of the lyrics..Version: 1.0.6

Minimalistic, it works for meI've actually tried quite a few apps and none are as simple as Hum. I use this 1) to quickly get an idea down in case I wake up in the middle of the night with a guitar riff, and 2) as a place to work on lyrics for tracks. Even though this doesn't necessarily work any differently from voice memos or notes, I like having this as a dedicated go-to music app. I find that ideas in voice memos usually don't go anywhere there whereas in Hum, I can give it a name and come back to it later and jot down some lyrics if they come to me. All in all, it's simple and it works. No complaints. Would give six stars if it included a thyming dictionary while I typed like the "Rhymers Block" app. Thanks guys..Version: 1.12

Good!Good app! I'd like to see the following enhancements in its future versions: 1) Sharing integration with WhatsApp 2) Sharing integration with Facebook (both via profile update and private messaging) 3) Sharing integration with Twitter.Version: 1.0.2

Hum is gonna be #1Definitely my favorite and most used app. Has so much potential to change the on the go songwriting. really friendly and easy to talk to team over at hum and they seem to be addressing all the areas that are lacking. I've recorded 500+ demos this year with it. Would love to be able to mass save on Dropbox, be able to not lose a beat when opening different songs because the interface thinks im trying to record, record multiples on one idea, import a beat to record to as well when recording it turns off your iTunes. Can't wait for the future with hum on my songwriting took belt!.Version: 1.1.1

Wow. Just wowI've been using Hum from the jump, and can honestly say that this update is a game changer. With the horizontal support, and the streamlined interface everything on this app is wonderful. I wrote an entire project using this app, and I cannot imagine writing music without it now. The creators are super receptive to feedback, and answer back any comments, concerns, and feedback. The only reason I didn't give it that 5th star is because I still think that this app would benefit greatly from iCloud syncing, and a Today view widget for throwing quick ideas would really take it to the next level. Other than that by far this is the best song writing app on the App Store!.Version: 1.2

Excellent iPhone App; But Request for MacBook SupportI’ve been using this app here and there as for when I’ve suddenly got an idea or tune on my mind out of the blue, which will dissipate very quickly if no action is taken. This app allows me to hum the tune and write the lyrics ASAP along side each other so you can see both at the same time. Sweet! I’ve never seen that feature before. One HUGE complaint/request I have is if there can be a version of this you can get for MacBook or other Apple laptops/notebooks, where Hum “ideas” could be imported through iTunes? Please? That way I could transport all my small stuff to a laptop where I can really sort it all out and such and use there. Thanks a bunch! This is a great app..Version: 1.9.1

Very UsefulI use this all the time. The best thing is you have everything in one place for a song you’re writing. Highly recommend this app!.Version: 1.9.1

Grateful for HumI have been a hard core, verbally supportive user of Songwriter HD for gong on 4 years. I talked countless songwriters into buying it, and now, unfortunately, the developers sold it to someone who is not updating and has no intention of updating. Getting notifications from Apple and Dropbox Songwriter HD will soon be useless. I get no response from anyone when I look for answers. Thankfully there is an heir to the throne with Hum. Does everything it should do and everything it claims to do. This is the new songwriter's dream and my new go-to tool. The price absolutely can't be beat for all it does. I am very picky about the app I use for writing my songs, and believe me, if I have suggestions for improvement, I hound the company. For now, though, Hum is on the right track. I hope they plan on sticking around. It says this is iPhone only, but it works on my iPad Pro, it just looks weird. All my support is here. If you are a songwriter in need of an app for writing, Hum is the way to go..Version: 1.9.1

C S CookJust fantastic on a stellar level..Version: 1.0.8

LOVE it.For some reason this review seems to not be appearing on y'all's page and that just ain't right--you guys deserve some recognition for this product. I literally use it DAILY. constantly coming up with silly melodies or song ideas and this helps me keep it all collected. One of the few apps i consistently recommend to my friends. Does exactly what it's supposed to without error. Very fast. Conveniently raises the volume on quiet recordings (or maybe im just crazy...). Incredibly easy to use and share recordings with friends. I just love it, man! My only wants & desires: the labels are nice but SO small--it would be nice to have thicker/name-attributable labels in the future. while that's just a minor inconvenience, a full-fledged folder system would be great for organizing what will soon be 200 hums in my library. AND FINALLY...the holy grail...being able to save multiple takes/audio tracks on one Hum!! That would be a lifesaver. I have one song with multiple ideas stretched out over six different Hums right now hahaha. It's certainly not debilitating but it would streamline my use of the app SOOO much better. Keep up the great work guys. As again, i've been raving about this thing out here in Chicago. It's just too good (and cheap!).Version: 1.5.1

Great idea for singer/songwritersFrom 2 years of either humming my riff ideas and then noting lyrics with the riff in my head, this combines it all. Works great with my band too, I just record the live instrumentals and then sit and listen on the train or bus and come up with lyrics wherever I am. Easily worth the £1.49 for the convenience it gives you as a writer! Smooth transitions (iphone 5s) and no crashing :).Version: 1.0.2

Awesome! The app is great! Definitely the easiest to use and most intuitive of the songwriting apps for iPhone. Love the new Dropbox sync, which works great. The developer is super responsive to questions and feature requests. Can't wait for future versions! The only reason it gets 4 stars is because I really want an iPad version and support for in-line chords. It would remove steps for taking my material into the studio to work on. I'd give it 6 stars then!.Version: 1.4

What a great appI don’t write many reviews, but I love this app, and I hope it is a success. Like probably every songwriter over a certain age, I used to record all of my ideas using a portable cassette recorder. This app makes it incredibly fun and efficient to get your ideas down, including whatever tunings, keys, lyrics, and other details you want to remember. It’s not incredibly complex, and that’s what makes it great. It’s sleek and fast. I love it..Version: 1.1.1

Simple to use. Well designed. Perfect for the unorganized songwriter. This app is well designed, simple to use, and functions just as advertised. It’s great to be able to see all of the songs you’re working on and then order them based on different criteria. Looking forward to other updates and functions in the app!.Version: 1.0.1

What every true songwriter should haveSeriously, I've pretty much got all my stuff spread all over different apps like Voice Memos, Evernote, 4Track, etc. (and they're all great app). But NOTHING like an app which suits songwriting on the go. Don't think it twice. BUY IT! Other reviewers are crap writing about too specific features that really would just make the app not simple or minimalistic as it is now. Although, I definitely support the idea of recording several sections of a song. At least I never get the good/final idea at the first time. So something similar to what Instagram does with recording videos would be great (just turn that into audio recording). Nevertheless, GREAT APP!.Version: 1.0.2

Super siccThis app is fantastic, I’ve used it for years now and I recommend it to all of my friends that write music. Thank you to the creators!.Version: 1.11.4

Simple and effectiveThis is like voice memos, but it adds some basics that are essential for keeping song ideas organized..Version: 1.12

Just one thing...This app is perfect in every way (UI, graphics etc) however if you could incorporate a more user friendly way to add chords to lyrics (as opposed to having to manually add a line and space across it) and if you could have an account based cloud system that would also be incredibly helpful, otherwise a wonderful app!.Version: 1.1.1

Hum is my total jam! Love it.I would be lost without HUM. Fast, easy, intuitive, I love this app. Wherever and whenever I get a musical idea, I sing it or play it into Hum, synched automatically to my Dropbox, and I never will lose it. Keys and chord notations, lyrics and riffs, all get saved. Get it!.Version: 1.10.2

Transcends FunctionalitySimply the best place to store your song lyrics. The user interface is surgically efficient and sorting your lyrics using the built in methods for classification is quite satisfying. That being said, I still use Apple's voice memos app for recording the melodic ideas that pop into my head. But for writing lyrics this is a must-have..Version: 1.5.1

This is the real deal. Great App!This app is simple and intuitive. I've been using two different apps to get audio and then text. This is exactly what I needed. There is room for this app to grow and add some features that I think would be helpful. I gave this five stars because this app is very useful as is. The app currently only lets you record one audio file and attach it to the lyrics. I would like to be able to record either more than one audio file, as songs grow or just be able to append a new recording to the end of the old recording. One other option I think the makers of this app should consider is having a one button chord player. Basically, have all of the basic chords show up on the screen as a small button per chord. Pressing the button on whatever chord you want would create a piano or guitar sound of the chord. This would be really helpful if I'm writing on the road without my guitar or piano. Being able to select or create more intricate chording would be a plus. For two bucks, this is a no-brainer if you write songs..Version: 1.5.1

A great organized resource for a process that is often disorganized. For me, songwriting has always been a disorganized process. Different ideas come in different ways; including lyrics that will sit for a year, guitar parts that don’t have any accompanying thoughts, and sometimes full songs that come all at once. This process wasn’t helped by needing to use multiple services to capture ideas in many different places. Hum has really helped me localize all of my ideas and processes in one area to be able to see the canvas in whole and work on ideas for as long as inspiration is available. Additionally, seeing ideas along side one another in a list, I can look for thematic elements and work to either eliminate duplication in songs or look for areas to combine ideas. Within minutes of using Hum, I knew it where it would add simplicity to my process. That simplicity helps me utilize tools in the most efficient process so I can get out of my own way when I’m feeling inspired..Version: 1.12

LOVE IT!!I’ve tried a lot of apps. This one is by far the best. So easy to use and I don’t have to think... open, hit record, and write. Thanks Hum!!!!.Version: 1.11.2

Easy and intuitiveI like to start with lyrics on paper, once things start to come together, this app makes the details so easy to capture. I love this app!.Version: 1.12

Hum is a total game changerGuys if you are a songwriter you need this app, seriously. I can’t imagine where I’d be with my songs if I had this app years ago. ALL OF YOUR SONG IDEAS EASILY ORGANIZED IN ONE PLACE. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. No hassle, very intuitive. I make a folder for each song I’m working on and then record my song ideas into that specific folder, and it makes it extremely easy to name your recording and write notes or lyrics with it. No more searching for your ideas in a giant list mostly unnamed recordings. You literally never have to loose or misplace a song idea again with this app. Come on, 3 bucks just get it! So worth it, it will make your life so much easier.Version: 1.11.5

Just amazingI don't often write reviews but as a musician I had to support this app as it has amazingly replaced the crappy VoiceMemo from Apple. Everything in there is what you need to have if you write songs of your own. Go for it. It rocks..Version: 1.0.8

This App is straight up Dope. This App is straight up Dope. As an avid songwriter I have tried multiple song writing apps. All fall short. This app is very very simple and clean. The guys behind this are killing it on the updates as well. Bringing bigger and better features, such as the ones mentioned. I would pay much more for an App like this..Version: 1.4

Best aroundGreat little recording app to keep all your ideas in one place..Version: 1.3.3

Thing I would like to see addedIt’s a really good app, and i think it would be cool if you could possibly change the colour of the lyrics and notes, to highlight the structure, or ideas from random words. Cheers good app 👌🏼it be cool to be able to layer the recordings, and to record over the recordings replacing the original recording..Version: 1.10.1

Good start but needs backup optionsThis is an app idea that I’ve been waiting for someone to build… Very nice tool that is much better than the built-in voice recorder. However, like other reviewers have said it needs to have some kind of iCloud or Dropbox backup/sync because I don’t want to lose any ideas....Version: 1.0.8

+1 for multiple recordingsI realllly really love the app and everything it does and even just the appealing interface. But it really needs to be able to group multiple recordings for one song, it's an app for ideas, and the first idea you record certainly isn't going to be the whole picture. Even recording variations of the same part to compare them would be another function of being able to record multiple clips under one project. That's the only thing keeping it from five stars, so PLEASE listen to this feedback we're all giving.Version: 1.0.2

Simple, Smart, and Songwriter-Focused25 years playing music and writing songs, and - as game-changing the iPhone and a few solid but limited recording apps were for the process - this app feels like the natural evolution of that first step. Easy and accessible, yet intuitively deep for keeping musical ideas from becoming the usual disjointed mess. No more "Where did I put those lyrics?" or listening to a separate track as you flip between paper or a word processing app. Hum gets it right, and it's pretty clear they've been through the messy side of the process before, and simplified it in the best way possible - by condensing it to its most fundamental needs. Extremely well done to start, and I can't wait to see future upgrades...but it's so darn good, I will, and happily. Only suggestion, and it's not a gripe or criticism: if you can enhance the audio fidelity via adding flexibility to each song's bitrate or file type, you'll cover every base need and then some. Kudos are we deserved here, so thanks to the dev team for this one!!.Version: 1.5

I haven’t ever rated an app, but...I have never rated an app just due to laziness i guess.. lol BUT i was moved to rate Hum. I have tried ALL songwriting apps and I just keep coming back to Hum! I will say i have only had one issue since 2015 when i got it first. That was just recently when it started shutting down after a few minutes. I emailed support and the short time it took for them to respond and fix my issue, i had to use another app for my ideas. I swear it felt like a fish out of water. Hum is my comfort zone! It was very odd feeling of something not right. It really cramped my creativity! I just love everything about it and how easy it is to just get what you need out of it. I will say i have a deep southern drawl and most speech recognition deals cant understand but Hum is the best at quickly figuring it out. Just thought i needed to let them know. Thanks for a great app! Curt.Version: 1.12

AmazingGuys, Guys this is a great app, please I am number 1 reviewing this app, you guys are making my songwriting so much easier with this app... The App works Perfect and is the best for what it does... Now the only thing i would like to see in the next update is the possibility to make multiple voice recording "Hums" under one song, this way i can write lets say the Verse and Hum, record the verse idea and move onto the chorus etc... And been able to record each time like this if you got a melody you can record it and then comeback to it and write it or vise versa! Thank you guys... love your App, which just replaced my Voice Memos App! Keep Up the Great Work!.Version: 1.0.3

Perfect for any musician. The interface is beautiful, very responsive and clean. Great features, 5/5. Perfect..Version: 1.1

Game-changerHum has been an amazing tool and it’s totally changed my songwriting. I’ve used it for many years and absolutely love it. Only problem is that it keeps crashing recently...not sure what’s going on but it usually crashes upon opening the first time. Sometimes it starts working fine the second time, but not always :/.Version: 1.12

Only missing a few thingsI love how pretty and simple this app is but feel a few things are missing. There is another app just called songwriter and it is extremely ugly (can barely use it because of this) but has these key features I would love to see. 1)Chord input (that changes keys if you want it to so you don't have to manually adjust each typed out chord) 2)synonym/rhyme feature when highlighting a word 3)and this isn't completely necessary but something cool is the ability to create separate song sections and arranging them. Also being able to record separate parts for the same song for ideas instead of just one audio track per song. Thanks guys! I love the other app as you can see but it has not been updated in over a year and with your design you already have it would clearly make this app the best in the songwriting department..Version: 1.2.1
