Great appGood to use alongside os paper maps ti check you are where you think you are. A vital resource if you need to let emergency services if your exact location. Handy tips on navigation also included.Version: 1.6.2

The perfect outdoor companionCracking app to support me while I’m out on hikes. Super accurate and fast - would recommend for anyone getting out and exploring the countryside..Version: 1.5.3

A great AppThis app is brilliant 🤩 it has helped me out in nil visibility when in white outs or low cloud where I wanted to check where I thought I was on the map and my actual position. This has allowed me to accurately navigate in bad weather. A great back up For map 🗺 and compass 🧭 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.Version: 1.6.1

Perfect.Simple but so well done. Location and elevation presented in an easy way on a compass background to find yourself on a U.K. OS map. You can share your location as well. Perfect. Please don’t change it. Connects to the Os Maps app but don’t let that flawed piece of rubbish put you off this work of art. Take this and a paper map and enjoy the world, well the U.K. anyhow..Version: 1.5

Rock solid and phenomenally fastI always found the iOS compass vague at best. At worst as much as 90 degrees off. Using the same hardware, somehow this digital compass app is rock solid and phenomenally fast. Even in challenging geography - I can check it against my high end Suunto compass and it’s always spot on..Version: 1.6.0

Great Little AppThis app tells you the three basic things you need to know when navigating in unknown terrain - where you are, the direction you’re heading and your current elevation. Used in conjunction with an OS paper map, it’s a useful tool for the Cairngorms, the Peak District or any other relatively untamed area in the UK. Not as comprehensive as a full-blown GPS, but now that it can give a much more granular position reading than previous versions, it’s a useful tool to have on your phone. I haven’t quite figured out what the simulation of the Silva compass is for, but I live in hope it will become apparent one day..Version: 1.6.0

AccuracySeems that the accuracy of the App is about 150 meters out. I have tried it in several locations with varying degrees of mobile signal strengths. The results are not as good as “What 3 Words”..Version: 1.6.0

Hidden pathWhile walking in a valley the app was able to place me 10ft from the path nobody could find NH.Version: 1.6.2

Good Ole OS Paper Map User.🙃It’s ok I’m glad that l added it to my Navigation apps folder. It would be a lot better if it could have W3W info on the app screen as well as the NGR.🤔☺️🙃.Version: 1.6.1

Great App but....The app is great for navigation use it on both phone and Apple Watch...but wouldn’t it be even better if you could get the Grid Reference as complication on the watch for easy reference 👍👍.Version: 1.3

Must have AppThis App gives your location, in a grid reference format. Great to have this information in an emergency or when out on a walk..Version: 1.5.3

Great locator appThis is a simple and easy to use app that quickly gives you your location without any fuss. Only 4 stars as the option to change from lat/long coordinates to grid reference is buried in the setting. Add a button on the Home Screen to do this and I’d award 5 stars..Version: 1.6.1

Must have appGreat way to keep track of your location on a paper map..Version: 1.6.1

Very UsefulIf you have an OS map and know how to use six figure grid references this is a great tool. It doesn’t need mobile coverage and has consistently given me good results when verifying my navigation in remoter terrain. The ability to share the grid reference is very useful. I use it when I am supervising DofE expedition groups to update progress with other staff..Version: 1.5.4

Os locate excellentOS locate is excellent on the hill for checking where you are against a map. It gives an accurate grid reference enabling on to use a map to pin point your location. Really great in misty conditions..Version: 1.5

Great App - 1 DrawbackGreat app. Used to keep a note of a place by screen capture on phone, used to check against map. Will use if lost in an emergency. One really big drawback is why only a 6 figure grid ref and not 8 or 10 like GPS OS. Oversight by developers??.Version: 1.4.2

GoodUsed it a couple of times now to confirm grid references when I’ve been out on the moors. Handy backup to be able to call on..Version: 1.5.2

App fixed after I reported that sharing location gave a broken linkUpdated review (September 2021): There was previously a bug that using its Share feature gave a location URL that gave “Incorrect URL”. I reported this via Twitter to the Ordnance Survey - got a very helpful response and it has been fixed for some time now… A good experience - review changed from 1* to 5*, as it now does exactly what it’s supposed to do….Version: 1.6.0

Works so wellReally great to have location (really accurate) altitude (really accurate) and direction (also really accurate) all in one screen. Then to still have the silva compass simulation too, amazing! All for everyone’s favourite price of free!! And no ads too! I’m impressed and now very tempted to get a full subscription to OS maps to enjoy the full ecosystem. This is a must, an essential app for anyone who enjoys the outdoors..Version: 1.5

OSlocate abroadIt changes to lat and long abroad After noting the location of my hotel I’ve used Oslocate to help me return through the winding streets of Venice.Version: 1.6.1

Essential safety app for remote areasA very quick and easy way to get a grid reference if it’s ever needed for a 999 emergency call (that tells them exactly where you are). Works in remote moorland locations with no mobile signal. A vital piece of safety equipment. And it’s free..Version: 1.6.2

Very useful app but! This is a useful app that I use when inspecting footpaths. However on the Apple Watch it only displays a 6 figure grid reference even though on the iPhone it is set to 10 figure and displays 10. This kinda defeats the object of the Watch app because to establish my exact position I have to open the phone. Hope they can fix this soon..Version: 1.6.1

Wonderful for safety and locationSimple to use and always accurate. Always have this on your smartphone just in case of trouble or an emergency. It’s absolutely amazing and it’s free...so why not?!.Version: 1.3

Great appI encourage all my DofE groups to get this as it’s free and works with GPS. They don’t need data so if they get really “misplaced”, instead of panicking they can find out exactly where they are but still have to use the map to sort themselves out. I also tend to use it as a quick compass and altitude tool..Version: 1.6.0

Excellent tool for learning about mapsBrilliant app to help with everything from knowing where you are to helping you to understand maps..Version: 1.4.2

Works well but is device dependent.Works very well on my iPhone but is miles out on my iPad. Is it possible to calibrate the compass?.Version: 1.6.2

Changing settingsGreat app, only issues I have is that the settings crashes on my iPhone 6 Hope this can be sorted, to change from OS coordinates to GPS..Version: 1.5.2

Wonderful appGreat and documentation, and now they’ve fixed the crash issue with the reset on the compass 5 stars. I love the watch app as well, and it can work without the iPhone if you have a series 3 LTE model..Version: 1.4.1

Good for emergenciesThere isn’t that many features but it is great because it doesn’t require wifi of mobile data so if your out on the moors and are in an emergency you can use the message feature to send you location to anyone in 6, 8, or 10 digit grid reference..Version: 1.6.1

Great AppFantastic (and super accurate) app for getting your precise location. Have used it many times when out hiking without any issues!.Version: 1.5.3

Reliable but not a replacement.I have found this reliable, easy to use with clear large numbers. However, while it may be my go to, it is not a replacement for an actual compass..Version: 1.6.0

Settings keep crashingCan’t seem to get settings to work. As soon as you go into settings from the information tab the app crashes and bombs out..Version: 1.5.2

A great appI love this app, i use it on day to day hikes for getting my location if i think i’m running off route and don’t have any reference points i.e in cloud/rain and visibility is poor. I wish there was an apple watch app too though to make it even easier instead of having to dig my phone out..Version: 1.5

Really handyA great way to check with yourself that you are where you think you are, helped me out more than once 🙂👍🏻.Version: 1.6.1

Good appGenerally delighted with this app but today’s update has brought a problem. When accessing info>settings, the app crashes. An enhancement that would make the app really excellent would be to enable a bearing to be taken from the OS Maps app. I know it can be done with the ’Silva’ compass simulator and a paper map, but I cannot find a way to do it with the iOS OS Maps version.Version: 1.5.2

Great AppGives you a very accurate location every time..Version: 1.5.4

Ordnance Survey Location appVery usefull app. An eight figure grid reference would be better but six figures gets you to one tenth if a grid square on an OS map so that’s ok. If you had a calculator to work out your bearing between two points that would be cool..Version: 1.6.1

Clear designI’ve only recently discovered this app & I’m impressed. It has a very clear user interface, However as others have suggested it would benefit greatly from displaying the OS GB grid ref to a higher level of accuracy i.e. 10m, particularly as it’s recorded & shown in txt message as Lat, Long when you use the Share Location feature..Version: 1.4.2

Works well but…Would be even better to be able to: - store a customised share message - show both grid and lat/lon simultaneously - on the compass view, have a button to set the bezel to current North (or South for back bearings).Version: 1.5.4

Great appGreat to have a simple app to say where you are. If you carry an OS map you can find where you are with this app :).Version: 1.5

Great appTry and use this app as much as possible when ever possible.Version: 1.6.2

Black JackThis appears to be a great App, which I will recommend to others. It's very easy to use if you can use a compass this makes it even easier for even with a map as the camera works with it. I love it great job..Version: 1.1.1
