✓ I used to love it but…I believe I purchased this app when this developer hadn’t updated yet to the subscription plan. I used to love it to help me understand the meaning by using the “rephrase sentence” feature, so I can improve my English without using dictionary translation. ✓ Why is this offered in UKI know there are a few British that like to mimic everything American but can you tell me why a keyboard that does not have auto correct in British English is offered in the UK Apple Store? ✓ Outdated design/app plus they lie about not having adsThe design of the ios app is horrible. It looks like an app from 2015. When you click on the star icon to save a piece of text, the pop-up that shows me saved the text or text was updated lasts way too long on screen. Inside the Phrase of the day, it has the apple download icon twice within this page when it shouldn't since the app is already paid for and downloaded. Inside the Phrase of the day page, down towards the bottom, they have ads when in the product description of the app store, it says this app does not have ads, but they lied.Version: 5.9.1
✓ No good can't copy paste proofWaste of money. I am very disappointed that Apple doesn't test drives applications that are paid to ensure they work adequately. ✓ DreadfulThis App gives you a shockingly bad writing experience. It's slow and not in the least bit intuitive. It keeps changing perfectly correct words for random nonsense. It's taken me three times as long to compile a letter thanks to the constant amount of rubbish you have to delete. ✓ It’s crashing constantlyThis is a great app which I am excited to use. I started using it while I have two other similar products available in today’s market. I’m using this app in iPad Mini (the latest version). It’s good for small paragraphs and single sentences. I pasted a three-page article and tried to correct. After painstakingly corrected more than a page, it crashed and I lost all the corrections that I have made. Not one time or two, it crashed. But it’s crashing constantly..Version: 6.2

✓ Copy & Paste BugI’ve used Ginger in the past. Purchased the app but I’m unable to copy a word or a section. Any attempt to paste work done in Ginger in another app, brings the entire document. I’ve also had corrections bring double words. Many documents I’m unable to scroll to the bottom. Any keyboard covers the work. This happens in portrait or landscape. I had to close the app down completely and reopen it again. The time I was looking to save in editing is lost in work-arounds. I’m working on an iPad Pro 2nd Gen. ✓ No idea why it's received so many glowing reviewsIt fails the most basic test - does it 'speak' English…? The answer is a resounding "NO!" American is NOT ENGLISH! It's so different from British English that I consider it an entirely different language, the word forms are entirely different (for example, where we'd say that something is worrying or bothering us, the Yanks say it's worrisome or bothersome; we'd say something was 'healthy', they say 'healthful'; if things are as they should be, it's 'normalcy', not 'normality', I could list examples all night). I emailed Ginger immediately after I'd purchased it - and several times since - to ask if they'd be adding other variants (it's not just British, but Australian, New Zealand, Canada (or 'Canadia' as I prefer to call it - it's logical; if the gentilic is 'Canadian', then it stands to reason that the country is 'Canadia'), South African, Zimbabwean, Caribbean- they're ALL different), but received no response and, as I've had it for over a year, doesn't look like they intend to, which I feel smacks of arrogance. I also have Notability (bought when it was on offer for 79p) and they don't appear overly bothered about supporting that, either. Think I'm giving up on it, they've had plenty of time to add it, and they've simply not bothered; that, coupled with the lack of support, tells me they really couldn't care less about their users, so it's binned..Version: 4.0
✓ Great idea, slow executionAn app that is actually usually accurate in its spelling and grammar corrections? AND it lets you dismiss suggestions that aren't correct or you don't want to use? AND actually useful and usually accurate rephrasing suggestions? Sold! The problem? I prefer to type up whatever I'm writing elsewhere then I'll paste it in Ginger for the cursory grammar check (because, for me, there are better apps for writing and saving work; Ginger Page checks technicals, and it's very good at that, but there are much better apps for saving and keeping track of projects), and, if it's more than let's say a paragraph, it takes damn near forever for it to do all the checks and show them. And heaven forbid you accidentally close the keyboard before you're finished going through them all (which can take a while as there's no easy way to go directly to what parts it's suggesting a fix for), or you have to go through the same agonizing wait to load again. As much as I love this app, and for all the times it's saved me from silly typos, how long it takes to check longer things just makes it very hard to actually use as a writer who prefers other apps for tracking and saving..Version: 4.0

✓ Worst app ever !Try this if you don’t believe me. Complete couple of sentences and then try to edit few words... it suggests few words if you choose one it adds few more remaining letters after the actual word which me annoying every time, try to copy one word, it does copy everything on the page... so on...so on... Called the developer, send actual screen recording, wrote mail, NOTHINGS CHANGED! They did reply one or two times to reinstall and asked again to send them the report BUT IT WAS WASTE OF MY TIME. ✓ DisappointingI downloaded this app to improve my grammar but as it turns out I could teach it a lot. "Don't touch nothing." (An obvious double negative) is considered correct. "I seen a dog today." Should be "I saw a dog today." But Ginger persistently wants to change it to "have seen." Perhaps that is correct but it doesn't sound right to me. Spell check seems fine but iPhone has a good spell check built in. Save your money and wait for a better version..Version: 4.5
✓ Some things good, but most basic grammar untrustworthyI have an email request sent to the developer regarding the article issue. Once that is cleared up, I will likely give it 5 stars. The app can not handle simple sentences such as: “I go to store.” It can not notice the missing “the” required in English. So the app seems incapable of finding article issues (both definite and indefinite articles). The sentence improvement suggestions were pretty nice, however. ✓ Faulty, buggy, autocorrects words into gibberish, jumps curser around and infuriating to useWhat a waste of time. I've used ginger for a while and tried working around the bus that would randomly shift where my curser is typing. Then trying to edit anything is impossible. It's seriously buggy and there's no way to disable the autocorrect as you type function. Inexplicably, there are no settings that can me modified at all, even though there's a settings menu. I'm very disappointed in this app. I tried using it but would often get very frustrated as it turned what I'm typing into something a jumbled mess that I can't easily correct. It will autocomplete a word as I'm typing it, then autocorrect the second part of the word that I kept typing into something completely wrong. I was recommended Ginger by someone hoping to save me costs on Grammarly. ✓ Some issues so farHard to say how I like it but I am writing this to stop the feedback message from popping up every minute or so. My one issue so far was in a long piece of text from a document. It was slow and cumbersome to proofread it all and once done I’d have to keep rescrolling to the top to edit things one at a time. Every correction sent me back to the bottom. Very tedious. And if I hit some features it would recheck the whole document again, causing me to watch the spinning wheel over and over. I want to really like it and have high hopes. Just hope these issues can be addressed in an update and make my purchase worthwhile. ✓ Has problems with the Magic KeyboardA lot of things seem to be nice about this app, and with this update it doesn't crash as often. The suggestions are generally very good and it's fast compared to some of the others I've tried. Thankfully the issue with the blank area when using the iPad Pro + Magic Keyboard seems to have been fixed, but there’s still an issue there. Most of the time the rephrase tool is only active if the onscreen keyboard is showing. Once I click it I can hide the keyboard again, but it’s a bit annoying that way..Version: 7.1
✓ Great but needs workI am in love with this app! English is not my first language and this is helping me a lot whenever I have to write long and complex texts that need to be perfect. However, there are some minor issues that sometimes make it a bit painful to use. For instance, the auto capital letters: whenever you erase something, the first letter you’ll digit will always be a capitol letter regardless its position in the sentence, which is quite annoying because it happens a lot in the middle of a word and I have to move the cursor with the arrows before start typing again. Also the auto check is absolutely great, but it would be helpful if I could check after I’ve written the whole text because right now it’s automatic and as soon as it starts checking I have to stop writing or I’ll end up with scrambled words: the cursor moves by itself during the check and if you don’t stop in time it starts overwriting other words or mixing up the digits. But apart from this couple of things, this is a marvelous app: the translation of sentences is impeccable, that’s one of the main reasons I’ve opted for this app. It is not a google translation at all, it’s more like a human being doing it for you with the correct grammar and a decent use of each word. Sometimes it gets confused with slang, but that’s understandable, I get confused too! The alternative sentences are quite good too, even though sometimes the advices are not entirely spot on, but overall it gives you a hand using words that are less common and generic making the text a bit more sophisticated..Version: 5.5.9

I’m on iPad Pro 10.5 iOS 11.1.1 *TIP* If crashes, reopen app, then long press, choose paste *BAM* all your work, up to the crash point should be back. 3 stars because LAGGY, CRASHES OFTEN, AND KEEPS MOVING AWAY FROM MY AREA I AM EDITING IN. FIX THESE DAMNED THINGS PLEASE. MY ORIGINAL POST: I spent over two hours editing, crashed and didn’t save my work, nothing there after I re-launched the app. I’m wiring this review off that energy. The whole time I was editing, don’t know if this mattered or not, I was in landscape mode, editing a certain portion of my document. The whole time, non stop, the app keeps moving the field of view away from where I am editing, on its own, just moving to the next area of the document needing editing or whatever. That’s cool - but WAIT until I get there. I shouldn’t have to fight this app and keep bringing the view back to where I AM editing the document. After all that, it crashes. I went back there and hit paste, and it was all my work right up to the crash! MIRACLE! Dev needs to make Poole aware of this life saver, I almost went back and copied the old version. That was VERY close. Laggy, SUPER LAGGY. Rome Total War the game has HUNDREDS of AI scripted soldiers on the battlefield. No where near as laggy as this..Version: 4.93
