Lost Portal CCG for Positive User Reviews

Great single player funThis is a great PvE card game for killing a few minutes at a time when in need of a break at work. The games are quick and the mechanics are easy to understand. If you like Hearthstone or Magic, but don’t want the PvP pressure, I highly recommend..Version: 1.1.12

Amazing gameI normally don’t write reviews or play games for years but Lost Portal is the exception. It’s such a fun card game. It’s very rare for a game to keep my attention for so long, even after I’ve “beaten” it but I always come back to Lost Portal. Making decks is fun and the difficulty is extremely customizable. Great choice for anyone who loves card games..Version: 1.3.1

Just what I was looking forThis game allows you to play a single battle in just 2-5 minutes. Random drops keep you coming back to get new cards and try different strategies. Thanks for developing the expansions. One thing I’d like to see is the ability to choose the frequency that you get cards versus gold. Can we always get cards and have the option to just sell them for money? At this point in the game, I no longer have a use for gold and it can become a grind to find those rare avatar cards that might be the linchpin for a new deck style. Great game overall, and highly recommended for those looking for an experience that allows for collection of items (cards) and character advancement without a continue to pay to get rarer stuff model. You have to earn the rare stuff. How it should be..Version: 1.1.18

Awesom low cost deck builder!I love this game and would like to implore the developers to make more expansions!!!! Also it would be nice to have more then 5 decks given the variety of different color deck types. More then anything I love this game because it’s not a money pit! Yes it has some expansions but your not paying for cards so how well you do is based on strategy. I wish you guys had some kind of multi player or something that would allow me to play with my husband. Great game!.Version: 1.1.18

Excellent!I never write reviews – but I just HAD too for this one because it is that good! If you like magic the gathering, you'll love this. You'll probably still like it even if you hate MTG!.Version: 1.1.1

Great little CCG (seems to have a bug though)So, I beat the game, and was replaying the last portal a bunch to try to get all the best cards. I’ve beaten Endaris several times, and I was awardees Endaris and Pearl Of Power as card rewards. But, I never saw them in my library. I played through a few more times, wondering if I was just somehow not noticing the color or category. Now I have confirmed with certainty that those cards are simply not ever being rewarded, even if they show up in the duel rewards. Getting those cards was really the only reason I was still playing, so very disappointing to discover this bug..Version: 1.4.5

Unusual depthA breath of fresh air to see an app that is solely focused on delivering a single player experience with deep strategy elements to it. I’ve played this game on and off for a couple of years and thoroughly enjoying the varied tactics required for different races. Having said that, if the devs are reading, here’s a few things where I think there’s scope for improvement : * SPOILER ALERT * • too much bias on cheap/fast to play cards. Not sure what can be done about it, but I find the winning decks require cheap, fast cards a plenty. As a side point, Almost all gold cards are 5+ cost, which means you can’t make use of more than 3 or 4 after which you’ll otherwise make the deck too slow and risk losing games by default if you only pull slow cards at start. * races are slightly unbalanced. Green = worst due to slow deploy with high cost of cards and severe lack of offensive cards. Dies easily to rush (black) and overpower (red). blue = best imho. Running out of cards as blue is rarely a problem and the 2 cost Dragonslayer with rush is OP plus blue has so many disrupt counter everything option cards. Blue can control the game easily whereas green you have to pray to rng to survive long enough to get going. * unbalanced skill trees. Agility is obligatory to minimum lvl 15. The extra money/cards is the strongest skill in game. The earlier the better as you end up with a permanent money advantage. Intellect is the weakest, invisible is clearly OP but that’s pretty much the only worthwhile investment in that skill tree - minor advantage in reducing card count but it’s at risk of running dry of cards entirely and ZERO point in running more cards as you’re statistically more likely to end up with a energy drought window early game = auto lose. I’ve experimented starting with other skills than agility with little long term success due to lack of money/card gain. * bugs/exploits: Red: 1. priestess of flame - A.I. does not take flamewave into account and thus drops 2 health cards in front that die on first turn. Blue: 1. Eye of tyern: way too OP. Very hard to kill a card on it as you can only use spells or rush cards against it. Green suffers the most as green has very few offensive spells or rush cards. Also, A.I. does not work against this card and opponent keeps dropping cards in front who get auto sent back to hand over and over = exploit bug. 2. Tor’el tracker. Too strong imho. So easy to set up OP loops with this card plus any of the super power resurrects like Back from the dead, Death undone or cards like mirror ring. Finally - The game is slightly too long tbh, once you reach final portal you’ll like have an auto win deck. Could do with some more sophisticated game change in later game rather than more of the same. The long game is dominated by the colourless cards which at high wisdom level becomes the best cards to stuff your deck with. Forget any other colour than your own - running dual seems completely pointless - no way you’ll reliably have enough to play a second colour card above cost 2. Would be nice if it was possible to address this as dual decks could be a fun variety play mode. Thanks for a great game, I hope you have bandwidth to keep fine tuning it!.Version: 1.1.16

Easily one of the best CCG’s on the App StoreI spent some time looking for a single player collectible card game that wasn’t a money hungry beast with a forced multiplayer component. This game ticks all of the boxes and then some. Zero micro-transactions apart from two permanent expansion packs that add new cards, content, and dungeons for a once-off payment. No “booster pack” card acquiring system, full deck customisation, decent depth, and a solid capacity for mastery. It’s also an RPG to boot, with your character being able to level up and learn skills such as a chance to draw an extra card when one of your creatures dies, or a chance to force your enemy to discard when you play a resource card (called an Aeon). There is a slight disparity in the power of the different colours very early in the game (I felt that blue and red were slightly behind black and green) but it soon gives way to powerful synergies and fluctuations in effect strength that level everything out over time. I was convinced that my blue/green deck was overpowered, but I ended up enjoying just as much success with a black/red deck and a mono blue deck. I currently have two maximum level characters and another one on the way, which says a lot for the replayability of this game. The only real suggestion I have for this game is that it would be nice to have more deck slots per character. Each character can only have five decks, which isn’t that big a deal seeing as you can make a large number of characters, but it would be appreciated if I could make more decks with my “primary” character and focus on just one collection of cards. It would also be cool if there was a randomly generated dungeon with randomly chosen encounters and boss, although the current endgame where the red portal leads to one random world out of two different worlds is still quite good. I’m not sure if this is the case but I’d like every type of enemy to have a chance to appear in the endgame so that if you grind enough, you can potentially win any card. I’m quite certain that as it is, some cards in the game only have a limited number of chances to acquire and once you’ve defeated their owners you can no longer attempt to win them. TL;DR - If you want a polished, reasonably well balanced, flexible, single player collectible card game that doesn’t try to constantly suck out your dollars, this is the game for you..Version: 1.1.19

A rare gem in this age of “monetized” gamesGood little game. Maybe there could be some more card synergies, and a little bit grindy, but overall fun to play and replay. Love that I’m not constantly bombarded with IAP opportunities. Hope to see more from this developer!.Version: 1.1.12

What a great game!I love my CCG's and this one is spot on. Amazed to see that it's just the one developer. Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to playing this for a long time to come..Version: 1.1.0

Great CCG, couldn’t ask for anything better.Been playing for a while now and I’ve finished the main quest line and it was fun. I’ve also bought the expansion packs and unlocked all the extra content. What CCGs should be!.Version: 1.2

Simply FantasticI love this game! The description says it; D&D meets MTG. This is a simple, easy to learn, challenging yet rewarding game. You have everything in front of you available to beat the game (no additional purchases or in game currency or stupid unlocks that cost more than the game itself.) The mechanics of the game are straightforward and tutorials to start make it easy to jump into. The artwork is varied and creates an identity of its own; the background art especially is welcomed when going off of grids/dungeons. The music is varied enough to where you don’t get tired of “that same repeating song” and adds flavor to each duel. Any player of TCG/CCG table top/pen & paper RPG will appreciate the style, mechanics, and overall caliber of this game. With varying levels of difficulty; whether you want to goof off casually or really test your mental mettle; this is a great one!.Version: 1.1.12

Brilliant CCG, get it!Well worth the money, this is a gem of a CCG with a very active and supportive solo developer behind the wheel. There have been several updates since release which ironed out the biggest issues and worked on a bit of rebalancing and user interface. I'm assured by the Dev there is more to come soon too. I've never been a massive fan of CCG's but this one hooked me in. Easily understood game mechanics and with a bit of time spent, you quickly get to grips with how the game plays and what you should be doing. To correct the only other current review of the game - there is now a help section available so don't let that put you off and the movement controls have been vastly improved. Like any of these games, it does take a while to get the hang of but once it clicks, it's great fun. Great game, can highly recommend!.Version: 1.0.6

Fun game limited by presentationThis is a fun deck building game with beautiful artwork and diverse strategies, reminiscent of Magic the Gathering when I used to play ages ago. However, what can improve is the overall UI of the game; currently it feels very stiff and clunky. For example, after a loss of a victory, the screen would stay that way for a while - I thought the game has frozen. And this is on an M1 iPad Pro btw. Playing cards feels very stiff as well - when compared to Monster Train for example where the cards are “floating” and animations are smoother..Version: 1.4.6

Microprose MTG reduxThis game is the closest to a remake of the fabulous Microprose Magic The Gathering game that we’ll probably ever get, and it improves in many ways! Fantastic art to boot!!!.Version: 1.1.19

What games should beNo pay to win. No grind to win. Easy mode for those of us not good at games anymore. Just good quality, fun, gameplay like games used to be..Version: 1.1.16

UnderpricedExcellent value—easily worth twice the price..Version: 1.1.2

All the fun of HS with none of the painJust what I was looking for! Got to the point in HS that I didn’t care if I won and hated it if I lost— not a great recipe for enjoyment. On the other hand, Lost Portal is simply pure fun— love it when I win and, if I lost, try again! The adventure format simply adds another dimension to this enjoyment and I can imagine interesting updates where it may even play a bigger role. A couple of requests from the developer: Playing on an iPad Pro and the attack button and discard pile are a bit overly particular as to where they get activated. I often have to try to discard more than once to hit the sweet spot (same goes for the attack button). Also, the game seems to require a vertical orientation with the home button at the bottom. As I like to play with the iPad plugged in, the plug gets in the way at that orientation. It would be great if it could be flipped to put the home button at the top. You have something really good here— looking forward to even better!.Version: 1.1.12

Outstanding!!!!One of my favourite games and now playing on the move. Great graphically and the sound especially with headphones is brill. More expansions please. It’s a nice price and lengthy by the option of playing different decks. Hints on the net pointed me towards the red deck which does seem to be best, now I’m playing green. Need more like this as I hate those in app purchases - such a con!!.Version: 1.1.16

Singleplayer CCG is perfect for quick gamesVery fun. Easy to play for five minutes or five hours. If you love singleplayer card games, this is an essential download. I am a big Slay the Spire fan, but sometimes I want some persistence in the decks I create. This game scratches that itch for me in a big way. I've played 20 hours already, and anticipate playing quite a bit more. Highly recommended..Version: 1.3.1

This is a fun and challenging gameI just started playing this game and it is a lot of fun, and challenging even on normal difficulty. I enjoy card games like Hearthstone and RPGs like D&D so this is a nice mix. I also like the fact that it has a campaign where you earn gold to purchase new cards and level your character. I am looking forward to finishing the campaign, this little game is well worth the money if your into RPGs and card games like Magic..Version: 1.1.6

Fully fleshed out CCGI have been playing for well over 20hrs now and I have yet to find any issues. Gameplay is obviously inspired from MTG and it works great as a single player version. I disagree with comments saying it is to difficult, I have little MTG experience yet I had steadily been progressing through the game..Version: 1.1.19

Perfect fantasy CCG for the phoneThis is an excellent CCG that suits playing on the iPhone amazingly. I won't be the first in saying its a little bit like magic the gathering, but since it's lame based it's also a little bit like Spectromancer (another well renowned card game). The art is really well done, and the mechanics of play are great. You gain gold and cards in the form of loot from each individual battle. You then use that to build your deck and keep going. It's somewhat like the old Magic the gathering Shandalar which is what I've been wanting on my iPhone since forever. This is the closest thing. Everyone pick it up, enjoy, and support lesser known devs like this to go on and make us great games..Version: 1.0.8

Really liking this one...Great game! You own the whole game, all possible cards are available! Good mechanics, good deck building, good story themes and villains. Highly recommended!.Version: 1.1.2

Love this to deathIf it wasn't for this game, I'm not sure what I would play on my phone, if anything. It is a single-player card collecting game where you build your deck of cards and face off against various AI opponents. I've loved other card games in the past, but they've been ruined by greed (Hearthstone) or power creep (Legends of Runeterra). Lost Portal may not have their production budget, but that just makes this a lovingly crafted, affordable game that is a lot of fun and endlessly replayable. There are no ads, no microtransactions (though there are paid expansions), no energy system limiting your play time, no daily quests pressuring you to play every day. Once you buy this game, you own it forever, the full game. That is both wonderful and rare, nowadays..Version: 1.3.1

Treats AboundI tip my hat to this. For a small dev (one dude?), the passion and commitment shows. It has constraints, but I believe they work in the games favour. No PvP timeouts/slow play/ragequits/collections mismatches. No circus of micro transactions. Limiting to one platform to deliver a better product. The art is gorgeous, both cards and game elements. That cards have their own sounds fills me with joy. And years in the dev is still giving the game love..Version: 1.1.13

Best CCG on the App StoreAmazing game honestly and very innovative - locations to explore, NPCs, character levels, insane amount of cards. Good customisation including making your own character, difficulty settings etc. seriously don’t sleep on this one and for so cheap too! Only thing I’d love to see is game centre support for synching across multiple devices and achievements! Again seriously don’t sleep on this one.Version: 1.4.6

Good game/conceptI’ve played several of the popular card games. I have become surprisingly addicted to this one. It is PvE and there are a lot of different decks you can make. It is challenging enough on easy and I haven’t been brave enough to do the most difficult setting yet. There are two add on packs available ($2 & $3) that I just purchased. Definitely worth getting if you like a solid card battler..Version: 1.2

Amazing gameProbably the best 2 dollars spent in my 5 or so years using App Store. Didn’t hesitate to buy expansion for another 2 bucks. You collect cards similar to MTG, go from one location to another. There are quests and character development with multiple attributes and skills, reminds me character skill progression as if diablo (although certainly much simpler). Ultimately what makes the game great is the combat system. Good balance, interesting cards, creatures, spells. I am currently using fire based cards and I see myself replaying the game later with other types of card. Tremendous replay value. Highly recommended..Version: 1.1.7

Great game and great guySo I was actually working with the developer to fix his daughters computer and I saw him playing this game. I thought it was hearthstone so I sparked up conversation about the game. He told me this was his game where it’s like hearthstone but there is an adventure aspect to it. I had him there a long time and figured I would throw the $1.99 into the game to check it out. Not only do I love it but it has allowed me to finally delete hearthstone from my phone. The quests are awesome. The game play is slightly challenging, but still good enough to not get frustrated. The UI is very easy to get used to. Overall very good job sir!.Version: 1.1.6

Really Good GameI love this game; been playing it for years. It's fun, engaging, and interesting, with a ton of cards and great gameplay. The developer keeps patching it and adding to it, which is amazing to me, and it keeps getting better, with a new expansion added just a little bit ago despite this game being several years old. The randomly-generated areas accessible through a portal are an excellent touch for replayability, and I absolutely love that the developer recently made the special cards unique to each opponent drop more frequently, cutting down severely on grind. Buy it if you like single-player, easy-to-pick-up card games with no microtransactions, no lag, good mechanics, and continuing love and attention from its creator. To say so, I favor gameplay over story or setting for something like this, so it doesn't bother me that the writing isn't tight, but if you're looking for that it's not here, sorry. Just battle after battle, with some occasional "Please help my brother!" which, of course, translates to "Go fight ______ in a dungeon colored thematically but which is otherwise essentially the same as any other!" The enemies are different, though, with interesting combos and deck composition tailored to them, and their own aforementioned special cards you can get when winning. If he ever makes the spaced-themed game he appeared to be working on, I'd be psyched to play that too, I'm sure..Version: 1.4.4

Fantastic offline ccg gameMy daily commute is: a) long b) underground So I was looking for a good collectible card game that would work offline. Thankfully a few google searches put me onto Lost Portal and I really love it. As my first CCG I found it slightly overwhelming at first but after a several (losing) duels I started to get the hang of it. Understandably lacking some of the polish that a behemoth publisher can produce, Lost Portal is nonetheless an excellent game and I'm looking forward to the future expansion packs..Version: 1.1.2

I love the game, but...I truly love this game. I have been playing it for a long time now. I just finished the primeval expansion and liked the work. But this game needs new endgame features. I would love an enhanced portal to use all the useless silver and golden cards, which would lead to more rewarding ennemis. Anyway... Great work for a great game. Keep up the good work !.Version: 1.1.13

Excellent game!Excellent premium CCG..Version: 1.1.0

Must get this!I love this game! So simple but intricate. Beautiful design and elegant gameplay with a campaign story to play. High replay value! I have played this three times again with different colors each time requiring different strategies. I bought two additional expansions and it is worth it. Hoping the developer will come out with more!.Version: 1.3.1

MTG-like, but some issuesThis is game is incredibly fun if you like tcg style games but in a PvE style. There’s an rpg leveling system in place where you can increaase attributes that give you unique in match perks (many are rng based) Deckbuilding is fun with several themes to try. No iap or p2w mechanics other than a couple expansions that add new maps and cards. The downside is that it takes a really long time to acquire many of the truly efficient cards. Meanwhile, many early opponents already carry 4x of these efficient cards in their deck so you run into scenarios where there’s no chance of coming back. Especially early on, it feels unfair to get hit with low cost removal/board clears that have no drawback to the caster..Version: 1.2

Worth itThe initial game comes with a lot, and I’ve bought all the expansion packs and replayed the game every time I have, it’s fun.Version: 1.4.6

Fantastic Game - Amazing ValueThis game is pure quality. I love it. I also play One Deck Dungeon on my iPad and think it is great, but this is just as good and wayyy less expensive. The value this game provides is nothing short of astounding. The art is great, the gameplay is great, this is a real winner! And thanks for NO ADS of any kind. Even One Deck has an ad on their opening screen for their own promotions. Also, I love that this is A CCG that does not try to exploit the gamer. No stupid IAP cards or coins. You get (much more actually) what you pay for. It is a solid and complete game with available, reasonably priced, expansions. Does it get any better, or more honest, than that? Great work developer! You are my kind of developer!!.Version: 1.1.18

Good game with decent legsThings can be a bit rough when you start the game, depending on the colour you choose. I started with green and couldn’t make it past first external dungeon (rats). Made a new black deck and everything was fine. The game overall is great. Quite a bit of depth in how you can play, and building new decks and ramping up difficulty can keep you going way past the end of the campaign. The main improvements I would like to see is in the variety of things like shops and forges. Once you’ve been playing for a while they have nothing for you. It would be good to be able to forge or buy some of the silver/gold cards in the random portal dungeons to keep things interesting..Version: 1.1.12

Great game with some minor flawsBasically Magic minus the multiplayer and no pay to win. So that’s excellent. Minor qualms : - Blue seems amazingly OP. Build a deck around drawing extra cards and creatures and you’ll win 99% of duels just due to exhausting your opponents hand while maintaining all your own options - Hard to build multi-color decks due to the relatively random nature by which you obtain dual-colour mana. If there was an expensive way to buy these cards reliably that’d be way better and open much more deck build options - Bit repetitive. Go from samey dungeon to samey dungeon, duel some progressively harder bros and only very occasionally get a card upgrade. - AI level ramps dramatically, so you’ll suddenly be dueling guys 5-10 levels higher than you despite fighting every duel you can..Version: 1.1.12

Great solo CCGThe only thing wrong with this single-player CCG is that it's priced too cheap! Easily worth the couple bucks -- way better than most games that cost much more. FWIW I am a card game developer with more than 5 titles and have played them all too. Trust me this game is one of the very best. (note: This review was edited after playing the game and resolving concerns-- all cards are indeed collectible). Suggestions for the developer: 1- More deck slots. There are 11 ways to create decks in terms of colors yet only 10 slots. This means that even if I only build one deck per color combo I can't use one color combo ever (unless I delete a deck). 2- Make it easy for me to switch my character's primary color rather than having to "edit" him from the main menu. 3- The green ghost card that retreats "on damage" is actually retreating whenever it dies, even on deathstrikes that are not damage-dealing. Either it should die without retreating or the text should be adjusted..Version: 1.4.2

Very ImpressiveIve been looking around for a replacement for the Solforge and am enjoying this very much more. One developer apparently, which is mightily impressive; the game isn't overly-complicated, or filled with pointless explosion and lightning bolt animations, it's an honest-to-goodness CCG that has obviously been crafted with a lot of love. There isn't a tutorial, but a quick glance through the manual clears up any queries, and anyway, the mechanics are straight forward and intuitive enough to make those first few defeats more than bearable! *And judging by previous reviews on here (which the authors should amend), the improvements over the last few months have been spot on..Version: 1.1.0

More content??So, I keep coming back to this every few months and I think it might be my favourite game for iPhone. Tonnes of cards, heaps of meta options for deck combinations (I recommend blue red rush) and fun discovery, the only thing wrong with it is that there’s not more content to purchase (and lift the level cap again). Absolutely definitely recommend this for deck builder enthusiasts. @Dev please bring out more!.Version: 1.3

Massive offline CampaignHuge offline game, should be a request to have the card sellers to join your town and just combine their cards with town seller as travelling all the way to level 3 of an area only to see it's the wrong card seller you had in mind is frustrating. I hope there is a new game plus option when I finish it, if not please add one :D otherwise very impressed and worth the $5 to buy. Update: Bought the expansion and haven't made it to that yet but wow this game is TOP for offline CCD. Please please please allow players to combine card sellers to the town. It's so frustrating trying to find one specific card to buy!!! Please update. UPDATE: You updated the game but didn't fix my request, this is the only review and no response from developer, disappointed!.Version: 1.1.6

Very good gameI like Lost Portal. I want to like it more but it doesn't make that easy. The tutorial lost me and I gave up on the game. I re-tried it and am glad I did. I think it was just information overload the first time and a weird 'faux card' movement system that threw me off. The game is a solid copy of Magic the Gathering, but that means it comes with all those strengths AND all of those weaknesses. It's the weaknesses that really lead to frustrating deck battles. Their version of mana has the same problems as M:tG (sometimes too much or too little). This is an old school method of handling resources and more modern CCGs have evolved to avoid dealing with dull situations like this. Unless you build your deck to draw a lot, you will be top decking the vast majority of your game. Top decking leads to a lack of decisions which feels a little dull. On the positive side, the levelling system is quite excellent. I really enjoy that feature, as you level up your character getting new abilities that strengthen your chances. Overall it's a good game, but I wish they would have used some more modern CCG designs. And I wish they would add a mulligan (where you can keep whatever cards you like, discard and draw up)..Version: 1.1.2

Best game ever!I LOVE this game! The gameplay is really well done, and it’s so great to have a CCG that isn’t pay to play! I actually think it’s underpriced given how much enjoyment I’ve gotten from it. The game is dated looking and not very pretty, my character started jumping around in a weird way at some point, the forge is difficult to use, and there are lots of minor tweaks that could make the game more rewarding (like give super rare cards a cool animation when you get them, or let players look at the cards they win in battle before putting them into the library). That’s a pretty long list, and usually it would be a deal breaker, but I don’t care about any of those things, because the gameplay is perfect. It’s difficult but it still feels fair, there are lots of cool and interesting cards, there’s a story that makes it feel like you’re progressing towards something, and the level up rewards are exciting and I’m always counting down to my next one. All in all great job guys! Thanks and keep up the good work!.Version: 1.1.18

I am happy this game existsI’ve been looking for a game like this for a long time. I can’t play multiplayer games like Hearthstone much because my life as a dad demands games with a pause button. The creative mechanics and RPG elements make for a game with very interesting deck choices and a sense of progression. I have played for many hours, and I feel like I could almost play forever. I am happy to support this pay-up-front model that gives endless hours of content for just a couple dollars..Version: 1.1.10

Really enjoying this gameIt's so nice to play a game that doesn't require in-app purchases. It's a great game regardless. Simple gameplay that doesn't take long to learn. A tutorial would help some players however. Enjoying the deckbuilding aspects..Version: 1.1.0

Fantastic!Amazing mix of dungeon crawler and collectible card game. I did think in the beginning it needs rebalancing BUT after playing a bit more you start to develop strategies and beat even tougher opponents with the same deck you initially thought weak. Great value for money..Version: 1.1.2

Awesome Game.I picked this up a week ago since it seemed like a decent solo card game to kill some time and I already finished the campaign, bought the first DLC, and am having so much fun! Just yesterday, another expansion comes out and I’m getting sucked back in again. —Gameplay— Better than HS, hands down, even with some internal luck involved with the leveling system. Good variety of cards and strategies. (Multi-color decks are so much fun) Card interactions with discarding/summoning from the discard pile are fantastic. I find that some cards are simply better while others cost way too much or don’t have a meaningful enough effect, some are cards are downright OP within game, but there are limits to them and you have to get to that point in the game first, so all in all I’m mostly okay with the balancing. Occasionally you just lose if you’re unlucky and don’t draw enough Aeon cards, but there are enough draw and resource mechanics to prevent that form happening. Give it a try if you haven’t- I’m just being overly critical..Version: 1.1.13

5/5Awesome game! Kind of reminds me of the game sorcery on paper; a little similar to magic but a way different play style. The similarity would have to be the different colors and spells such as deal damage to your opponent or creatures but I love the play style and art. I would 100% buy this game in real life if it was a tcg card game..Version: 1.4.7

Fun GameFound this to a really fun game. Hasn't got any multiplayer options but provides a lot of entertainment when you're offline or just want a quick game by yourself..Version: 1.1.2

Just what I want from a CCG!Great game! Endlessly replayable! No IAP!!.Version: 1.4.5

Great game! Excellent solo experienceThis game has been a really fun solo experience that you can pick up and play even if you only have a couple of free minutes. One suggestion to the developer - can you please have it so that I can target my own hidden creatures with spells?.Version: 1.1.12

This game is amazingI've tried almost every ccg on iOS and this one is one of the best. The $2 price tag unlocks the entire game and you can earn every card in the game just through playing the campaign. The gameplay is tight and pretty well balanced and super fun. Even the inclusion of an endless dungeon for end-game content is fantastic. The only complaint I have is that it's not longer and there's a level cap. Other than that it's perfect!.Version: 1.1.8

Great surpriseI’ve actually been looking for a single player game similar to MTG for quite a while and was extremely surprised and pleased with this little gem. Sure it doesn’t have an enormous amount of cards or flashy UI, but it makes up for it with a great concept. The idea of the lane combat was refreshing and it’s not absurdly complicated deck building. Definitely ready to see what you come up with next time.Version: 1.1.13

Great campaign with MTG/Heathstone gameplayThis is the game I have been looking for. A high level strategy CCG that focuses on a great single player campaign with some RPG elements. Even better is that you cannot buy IAP card packs. The game is already balanced so you pick up cards through play. Other games ramp up the difficulty so high that it pushes you into buying packs in order to progress or compete against others. The game play is very fast and games can finish quickly. I love this game and I am addicted. That said it would be nice to be able to see and play decks from other people. It should not be live PvP, but allow players to publish a deck for others to battle against via AI. Playing against other player decks would help give me ideas for my own decks. You could even select some of the most interesting decks and make another dungeon out of it. I also wish there was a website or forum to talk with others about the game. So far, I love playing red and eventually added a splash of blue for Logic Storm once I got enough dual lands. Also I maxed out my Agility first for the extra gold as you can’t replay dungeons..Version: 1.1.15

Great ccgIf your looking for a simple but engaging ccg this is the game for you. With no internet requirement it’s great for on the go, and simple gameplay doesn’t require intense amounts of concentration. There’s a decent amount of content, and with four different decks themes you can explore several different pathways. It can feel a bit repetitive but it’s great to pick up every now and then to beat a few dungeons. I was so pumped to see the Primeval expansion and I hope the devs have more to come..Version: 1.1.15

Thank you, developer! This is the first RPG/CCG I can actually play because it’s solo play and play at your own place! I don’t have time for long multiplayer sessions. And I simply want to play alone. This is perfect, it fits into my schedule. It’s user friendly and very well designed. And priced more than fairly. I’m a casual gamer, so being able to adjust the settings to be easy and to not lose gold makes it more fun, especially as I’m just learning the game. Thank you, developer, great job! I appreciate that you’ve kept it updated too. I highly recommend this game!.Version: 1.1.12

Great Game to scratch that MTG like itchStumbled across this game and I am glad I did. I love playing Magic but I’m very busy and have limited time. I also like old school D&D, this game has a bit a both of D&D and deck building. The card art and the mechanics are also awesome. I love it. If you are an old Magic fan, give it a try and play a few games which play quickly and you won’t be disappointed..Version: 1.1.20

Love it, buy itFor a few bucks, this game is worth hours of good game play. Like other deck building games, you start off with a base deck and through eliminating monsters and other threats on behalf of various towns/cities, you gain gold and cards to make your deck awesome. Similar to Magic, you can make Red/Blue decks, Black/Green, one color decks, etc. I love this game. You may find some monsters draw godly well one time, then you pull out some crazy stuff and win. Do remember that you can forge cards, buy more from the merchant, and find more off of monsters. All in game currency of course, no p2w or other stupid micro transactions that plague other games. Two expansions that add variety and more content to play. All in all, gooooooood game. Haven’t played a satisfying phone game in ages, but this one does it right..Version: 1.1.19

Awesome CCGLike magic with rpg elements and deck building, and no IAP silliness, great game..Version: 1.1.12

Keep coming backWhat a awesome little game! I have been playing this game for a long time and coming back on a fairly regular basis. I was super annoyed when the new turn animation appeared, but the developer set an option to disable (took me a while to find it after seeing the notes on the version update) - but nice, thank you Developer. I purchased both updates and would love to see more. This is a compelling game and is my go to ‘recreational time’ on my iPad. Easy to play but sometimes fiendishly difficult if the cards come out wrong. Love it, definitely a recommend..Version: 1.4.5

Great Indy CCGNo fancy graphics or UI whiz bang, just really fun gameplay in a well built single player campaign. This is a solid CCG that rewards strategy and makes you more and more powerful as you level up (focus on health and agility). I find myself coming back to the game again and again. Totally worth the single-time purchase..Version: 1.1.2

Wonderful and engaging CCGHaving been an early adopter of Magic the Gathering (MtG) many decades ago, this game is a fantastic clone of the card game. Beautiful graphics, great atmospheric music and engaging card play make this a winner. For the small investment of money, you get a huge amount of content. I do not have an addictive personality, but I kept coming back to the game and its 3 expansions. I completed them all. Where’s the sound of trumpets and the parade? The AI can be competitive and you are always trying to streamline your deck to make it better. Great card selection allows for a very large number of combos and strategies. One bug I picked up on my iPad Air 2 with the latest iOS….when you receive your cards or gold rewards, do not click on one of the cards to look at its details. The program will lock up and you will have to reboot the game and play the whole battle over again. Question? Now that I have completed the game, can I use my same character and all of his built-up values to play through the game again? Thank you for a wonderfully crafted game..Version: 1.4.7

Excellent example of CCGFirstly the game is polished, well put together, great looking and plays very well. Definitely a game you can lose hours on. The whole thing seems lovingly designed, carefully thought out and has great art work. Congratulations to the makers for also not jumping on the cash cow band wagon as other greedy publishers do. This is not a pay to win game. The only in app purchase is a very reasonably priced expansion. Everything else you will acquire as you progress. If only there were more games of this quality on the App Store that don't keep wanting to empty your wallet at regular intervals. Very highly recommended!.Version: 1.1.6

Like magic, without all the IAPs.The RPG element is a nice touch that changes the way you play as you progress through the game and level up..Version: 1.1.12

Hands down my most played appI’ve had this game for years now and I still break it out all the time. It’s the perfect filler to play just a single battle when you have a few minutes to kill. And I’ve had immense fun tuning my decks to get better performance. I love this game and am so overjoyed to see some new content just released! My only request to the dev would be to employ a way to reset the story progress for a character build but NOT reset the card library or built decks, so I have more game to play once I’ve beaten all levels but don’t have to go through all the card management again. Alternatively a “custom single battle” mode or something using my developed characters would also be fun, as long as I could set it to give me a tough challenge. Awesome game all around, thank you for making and continuing to support!.Version: 1.4

Awesome gameA mainstreamed MTG... only problem was that I chose to start with a blue deck and it’s trash. Balancing really needs to get ironed out. Other decks start with 1 cost creatures that have significant abilities and the blue deck is lucky to get a mediocre creature that costs 3. After losing about 20 times to the first creatures in the game I deleted the character and started with a different color... now the game is finally moving fine. It would also help if you offered some sort of description when people are choosing their initial school of magic as opposed to “hey what’s your favorite color?”.Version: 1.3

Played the heck out of this game...This game meets all of your expectations for a game spawned from the likes of MTG and others in a single-player format. The towns/dungeons/quests are straight forward, and are a great way to explore a format like this. The balancing of the cards is quite well done. Also, portrait mode by nature....can’t be beat! I have one request if developers read this and still have an interest in furthering this game (unless a sequel is in the works). The expansions add a decent number of cards, but the campaigns are quite short and don’t allow you take full advantage of them. Lengthening the expansions with an extra town and few extra dungeons seems easy enough and would satisfy players to a huge extent. Anyway, been playing forever, and it’s one of the best pickup game apps if you’re a ccg fan... ever..Version: 1.1.19

Very ImpressiveThis game is excellent - well balanced, great art, simple mechanics but plenty of strategy and a compelling campaign mode. I downloaded without any expectations at all and have been playing every day for 2 weeks. Well worth the 5star review - give it a try.Version: 1.1.7

Best offline CCG ever!I have literally been playing this game for years, and I’m astounded that the base cards of this game is still getting balance changes! The game has amazing art, it definitely scratches the CCG itch, and I’m looking forward to every single change or expansion that this developer will ever do!.Version: 1.2

Just Buy This Game! This may be the best £1.49 I have ever spent. Great game - Reminds me of the Microprose Magic the Gathering game. Excellent support from the developer. Lots of replayability. What more could you need..Version: 1.1.1

Deck-building gem with rough edgesReally? I'm the first Canadian review for this? Lost Portal is a mix of some of the best elements of Dream Quest, Spectromancer, and that old Shandalar Magic game. Easily worth an (American) dollar if you like card games..Version: 1.0.8

Offline Card Dueling MasterpieceThis game is awesome! Played all the way through it (maybe 30 hours of gameplay) and then bought both expansions because I was having so much fun! This is unique in the App Store. It’s offline (great for travel), has a leveling system, deep strategy/card deck, and super easy on the battery. Grab this game and get ready for hours and hours of enjoyable single player RPG offline epicness!.Version: 1.2

Fantastic CCGNever written a review before - had to for Lost Portal. Great CCG for a player who likes a challenge. Easy to pick-up and put-down to fit in throughout the day, so I’ve played a lot! I had to work my way up to the hardest mode and “lose cards or gold” penalty, but the challenge is worth it. Really have to intelligently utilize all the tools (smith, shop, level up) available to win. I haven’t yet gone into the ‘past main storyline’ stuff, but I’m looking forward to it. For the price the game is fantastic. Not game-breaking, but a couple bugs I want to point out in case the developer wants to know: 1. For any battle, if you shut the game off before the penalties (gold/cards) are dealt fully, the battle is reset. I used this exploit to work my way up to handling the hard mode on a early playthrough and avoid penalties. 2. For the card penalties, you can “lose” cards that were placed in your graveyard through the battle. Effectly nullifying a penalty. Interaction only happens if you have cards like Torakal, Master’s Will, Death Undone, in the deck that can steal enemy cards. Lots of interactions to discover and decks to build. I definitely feel like the game was built for someone who takes CCGs seriously, as on easier modes you kind-of become super powerful and rarely if-ever lose, and eventually don’t have a use for the shop & smithy. But that hardest mode is frustratingly challenging in the best kind of way. Great game!!.Version: 1.4.6

Great single player fantasy deck gameInteresting dynamics, clear thematic differences with the color suites. I have not yet played the expansion but have put a ton of hours into the base game. It’s a low budget single developer game, but it’s got it all where it counts..Version: 1.4.7

Excellent!Brilliant card game. I am sick of hitting a steep paywall in F2P games, this is a complete game for a good price. Balance is spot on right through to the end. Highly recommended..Version: 1.0.9

My fave mobile ccgTake your time n get into this cos the deck building is spot on. Brilliant balancing, great art n music, I can’t get enough of this game. Up there with monster train n across the obelisk 😊.Version: 1.4.5

Replaced HearthstoneI recently got bored with HS because there’s not enough variety unless you want to keep paying... But I was pleasantly surprised to find this replacement. It retains the quick sessions and interesting deck decisions of HS, with more depth and a much, much fairer payment scheme. UPDATE: I’ve found what I consider to be an optimal deck, and the threat of losing gold encourages me not to experiment with fun new decks. Still a fun game, but it would be better if you removed the penalty for losing and made the enemy decks more challenging instead..Version: 1.1.10
