Guitar Lessons - Guitar Tricks for Positive User Reviews

Lawrence AIt’s a good app. Good value and lots of good songs to learn. It’s been really useful to get me back into guitar ... but some things could be improved: - a refresher course would be useful to review chords and techniques quickly - the tab music when learning the songs is tiny and can’t be zoomed into which is annoying (especially when learning more complicated riffs) - something that tracks what lessons and what songs you’ve done would be great too - tools like a basic guitar tuner or metronome would be a really cool addition. I’ve only used it for a week. There may be other things too. Overall positive but there are lots of things that could be done to improve this further..Version: 1.7

Great contentI’m a beginner but, so far, the content looks really great. If I have one thing to point out is that the “play along” functionality could use some love. On my phone I can’t slow the video down and, on my tablet, I can but then the tabs won’t scroll. Also the sound degrades a lot..Version: 2.1.58

Subscription issuesUpgraded to a new phone. Now cannot access current subscription and cannot renew. Keep getting a error that subscription has failed. Extremely annoying..Version: 1.3.13

4 years now...I joined Guitar Tricks as a beginner and now 4 years later I’m feeling really good about the progress I’ve made. I haven’t missed more than 3 days of practice since I started. I admit to being a poor student and I could be much better if I were smarter. I am 57 and have put more time into soloing than learning chords. My plan is to have FUN and not join a band or get too serious. Thanks to the instructors and folks that put the site up. Other than Steve Stine I wouldn’t consider another site or teacher. Good luck!.Version: 1.3.13

Creating a masterpieceGreat way to learn for someone looking to pick up the art of creating music.Version: 1.6

The start of a long journey, but with great guidance...Decided after owning an acoustic guitar for 4 years, and not getting past some self taught basic chords, that support was needed to progress. Checked out several app based options but this looked far the best for an absolute beginner. Took a deep breath and signed up for a years membership :-) Only going a week, but have now worked through the basics ( first real learning was I was holding the guitar wrong!) and up to learning simple chords. The structured learning plan makes sense, and navigation to past/ last lesson is straightforward, so easy to pick up where you left off (or go back a lesson or two to practice again). The tools are there, so now up to me to invest the time, but I feel confident I will put in the hours to do so. Also should mention the email contact from Billy, the Guitar Tricks Support Expert, who explained some details of membership via app, that were not covered in the website. Thanks Billy!.Version: 1.3.8

Great Tool to learn guitarI love the structure and everything about the learning process with Guitar Tricks but the only reason I don’t give this a five star rating is because I’ve had this app over a year and a half and they still haven’t fixed the bugs. Not all the time but often I’ll click on a lesson and it will bring up a different lesson than I clicked on or a lesson not even in the category I’m in. For example in the beginners tab in the practice tip section I’ll click on the left handed playing lesson and it will pop up a lesson from the Funk genre. If the developers see this please fix this. You will gain a five star rating if you do because right now the computer version is more reliable than the mobile app..Version: 2.1.62

A couple of improvements but all in all, nothing better out thereI think that this is an excellent app and a natural upgrade from Fender Play which lacks in intermediate skills. As a blind user I also find it quite useable as the audio is very detailed and therefor does not require sight to continue my journey, there are also some very helpful tips on gear and setup which seems lacking in other apps. Most songs also cover multiple guitar parts like rhythm, lead and enhancements, how the song was played in the studio AND how conversion to a single guitar player can be managed. What ore could you ask for? Well.... If I were to suggest any improvements, it would be the following 1: under the history, it is very confusing (especially to the visually impaired) as to which section relates to what song. Only the chapter names are listed. Personally, I think this too much detail as each chapter can be accessed directly from the song. It would be better if only the song title appeared in the history rather than chapter name which does not relate to anything. 2. More popular songs from popular artists. There are a little t of great songs ipavailable but equally, a lot of albums songs rather than popular singles. Also as a resident of the UK, it would be great to have songs which have made it across the pond as I think a lot of the songs are purely US based and unknown. 3. Sometimes when you have the app running on the iPad and go off to make a coffee or something, when you come back and restart the iPad (which has gone into sleep mode), the app thinks it has lost connection, can't reconnect and you have to shut the app down and re-open it Apart from that though, keep up the good work..Version: 1.3.13

Great app. Thanks for all ur help. Slowly getting better. The instructors r great as well and a big help. Thanks for everything....Version: 1.3.2

Excellent...I'm just getting back into playing guitar after about a decade of not playing. When I found Guitar Tricks I was so pleased with their site that I bought an annual subscription...this little mobile app, and their other Fretboard Trainer app are just the icing on the cake. Excellent quality apps with excellent quality content...thanks!.Version: 1.3.0

So far enjoying itFor a total beginner like me, it was kinda difficult to find the perfect guitar lessons that fit my needs. I have tried other apps good for structure and practice, but they lack the theory I needed to complement my knowledge, so I could get to know what I was actually doing with my guitar. To play notes and chords just to play them makes no sense to any guitar player who wants to become guitar savvy in the long run. But then I found a Guitar Tricks, I was doubtful at first and reluctantly paid for the first month of subscription, just to get a taste of it, and the combination of both theory and practice have worked out just fine for me. This app is very resourceful and helpful to get your started. It’s been week one so far and I’m enjoying the way the instructors handle the levels of teaching and difficulty. They don’t rush you out to get to do anything you are not comfortable with. Week one and I have learnt a few simple chords and rhythms, and also the importance of taking good care of my gear. So far, I can say that lessons with Ms. McCormick have kept me in touch and motivated to learn to play and love this instrument. Most likely I’m looking forward to renew for another month to keep falling in love with it, and who knows, maybe a year. Keep up the good work, guys. Totally worth it..Version: 1.7

Simple and perfect for beginnersI don’t often write reviews but Guitar Tricks seems worthy of the praise. I’m a beginner who started with JamPlay last year but soon got lost in to many options with various teachers, and their app was not as good as the website which is never a good thing. Back into learning again this year and Guitar Tricks seem to have it nailed. The app is simple to use and the learning route and quality has improved my playing great already. The tutors are straight to the point and everything you watch is genuinely useful with no padding. The app sometimes suffers from videos failing to load after being open a while on my iPad Pro but a restart always fixes it. That’s the only improvement I’d make..Version: 1.3.8

Good learning and practice toolThe app is great for easy access to good content. I like the instructors level of detail and pace for each level. The app gets ongoing improvements which is good. I use it almost every day and they keep adding content which is key. Update : Nov 2018 > still using Guitar Tricks daily and am starting to use courses for different styles which GT provides. I've see no other online sites that have the level of video training for beginners through to advanced. Lastly GT's content covers many genres. Always best quality for each and every lesson..Version: 1.4.0

Excellent InstructorsI do like this very much. The instructors are outstanding guitarists with great instructional styles. There are a few areas they could improve though. Eg. 1. A pictorial of a song’s strumming pattern for instance would be extremely handy. On one of the “Paint it Black” videos I cannot tell whether the I am meant to being strumming on the upstroke as well as the downstroke. 2. Having a search function for a song title or artist rather than just having to scroll through the master list. 3. Being able to save a song from the master list to go back and learn. i.e. I would like to be able to go to “my list” of songs that I intend to work through. 4. I’d love to see “Angie” being taught..Version: 1.3.13

WowSo kool.Version: 1.6

The best, nothing elseWhere ever you are, they'll be helping you. Go, there is no excuse anymore. Play and enjoy life..Version: 1.3.1

Fabulous AppHave been a member of Guitar Tricks for several years and find the expertise and advice from their site invaluable. This app will be much used especially whilst on the move. Thank you Guitar Tricks!!.Version: 1.3.0

Best video resourcesLove how most lessons come with jam tracks. Selection of songs is second to none. Subscription price is well worth it..Version: 1.3.3

AmazingI can’t tell you how many songs I’ve learnt from this app, it’s amazing and it’s totally worth the money!!.Version: 1.3.13

Fantastic guitar learning app.As a relatively new player this app has been most helpful, especially if you pay for membership. Good teachers. 👍.Version: 1.3.8

Can do so much with itI have been working on the app from 1.5 months and so far it has been a brilliant experience. The lessons are not very long and the best feature is that you get to play along with a band or on a track. I am enjoying it thoroughly and would definitely recommend it.Version: 1.5

Actually learningDecided after all these years to stop talking about it and learn the guitar. The lessons for beginners are clear, very forgiving and go at the right pace. I'm still going to have some lessons once I'm comfortable with the basics but it's a great place to start.Version: 1.2.3

Doesn’t get any better than this!I’m a busy father of three who doesn’t have much spare time. I have a seventeen year old son who plays guitar great. I gladly spent a lot of money for his one on one personal lessons growing up, and I would have loved to be able to take lessons like him. However, that isn’t feasible for me. Anyway, after discovering Guitar Tricks, I subscribed to the yearly options to begin. YOU CANNOT BEAT THAT PRICE! That value took the pressure off of me because I wasn’t sure how much time I’d be able to put into it. A year and a half later, I’m amazed at how much I’ve learned. If I stopped right now, I’d have enough skills to enjoy playing many songs for the rest of my life. If you’re on the fence, just subscribe and get started. You won’t regret it. The app is good, but I’d recommend saving the website to your Home Screen and using that (I just love the layout of the website better.).Version: 2.1.55

The BestI have been playing guitar for up to 20 year with self tutorials and in 2015 with Jamplay. I have only been with Guitar tricks for about 1 month. I play longer without boredom with the included Jamming sessions. It is easier to progress in styles without confusion about teachers. Guitar tricks however needs to better monitor the % of lessons the student has taken. Guitar tricks name didn't encourage me in choosing guitar tricks. But I am glad I am with guitar tricks now. The price is great too. Join Guitar tricks, you will be glad..Version: 1.3.1

Great App!Fantastic detail for Noobs. I’ve learned a lot. The problem is I’m learning the bass! Why don’t you add a stream for the bass guitar, I would certainly buy!.Version: 1.3.13

James MarshallI’ve been trying to learn/play for about 22 years now, the lessons put forward by the teachers here are amazing, I’ve been using the “I’m a bit more experienced” section for about 9 days and the way the tutorials are set makes for quick and easy learning, before I was a little stagnant and frustrated, these lessons have taught me how to arrange things I already knew and a lot of new things, I sit down with the lessons for an hour or more each day and every time I walk away wanting to play some more, my fingers are always on the move even when I’m at work, a truly amazing way to learn guitar or just to further your journey, well worth the money, thanks guys, keep it up!!!.Version: 1.3.9

Guitar Tricks SuperbGreat solid working app fronting a great site full of accurate & detailed instruction. The site works exceedingly well & covers so much musically that I only use this site for my musical development!.Version: 1.4.0

Luv itI rlly luv the details u guys put into, very beginner friendly, ive been playing for over a yr now and I can tell u guys it rlly helped me a lot during the yr, the price is 20$(usd) a month of u guys r wondering, it’s not too much considering the quality of the tutorial videos, I’m hoping it could help me get through the barriers and master guitar one day :).Version: 1.7

Needs search optionsHappy with lessons but needs search to find songs.Version: 1.3.13

ᗩᗯEᔕOᗰE ᗩᑭᑭIt really helps me and it’s awesome I get loads of help it is super good:) (^-^]:.Version: 1.7

Don’t hesitateI’m 47 and have been playing off and on since jr. high. GuitarTricks is the most helpful thing I have ever found to advance me as a player. The lessons are in depth and amazing! Every thing is broken down and taught extremely effectively. You can even loop a portion of a lesson until you got it down. Having the jam tracks to all the great songs on the site is awesome! No more do I learn bits and pieces of songs I go through each lesson within a song and then jam to the backing track. The backing tracks are fantastic quality. Kudos GuitarTricks! And thank you, you have me more excited to pick up my guitar than ever! I also go through the lessons when I’m not near my guitar they are so good.Version: 1.3.13

I love this app!I am a beginner- I learned more in a week of using Guitar Tricks than I did in two weeks of apps that listen to you play. The instructions are excellent- well presented and easy to understand. My 12 year old and I are learning together- me on a nylon string acoustic and him on an electric and the lessons are well suited to both of us. The only thing that keeps me from putting a 5 is that the app could use options for some of the things available on the full website such as the tools and being able to mark lessons as complete. It would also be a great feature if the music sheets would scroll down with the songs as they are played - songs that are copyrighted can’t be printed which means it is impossible to play along without memorizing the song..Version: 1.3.12

Incredibly easy and successfulI am a beginner and have taken lessons from two different instructors, who were in my mind, real good. When people told me to go on-line for lessons, I had the impression of a young dud in a garage teaching me what he knows to earn some extra money for beer. This is not the case with GuitarTricks—it’s structured, well organized, has a jam track for most lessons to practice with, and I can binge lesson when I have a lot of time. These folks have guitar lessons nailed, I have no questions after each lesson and I feel progress with each lesson. It’s propelled my guitar success and gratification with playing..Version: 1.6

Loving learning with this App😊🎸So so so helpful, the step by step process is “mint” awesome. With discipline I will reach my guitar goals🥰🎸.Version: 1.4.0

Love itClear and concise. So many lessons. Great app.Version: 1.3.4

Learn guitarEveryone’s who say it’s note free bla-bla-bla it is expensive... This is a professional learning app not waste time game or what ever... For 100$ a year try to find a guitar teacher who will be available 24/7... Go try! Lol It is my third year with GuitarTricks ! Love it Hard to find better! My only negative point will be not a lot of recent songs Free option btw Justinguitar is awesome!!!.Version: 1.3.12

WB student intermediate levelI have used GuitarTricks for about one year so far it’s reall a great help for learning at home. My biggest advice it to not get in a hurry to move to the next lesson practice until you feel certain that you have mastered the current lesson before moving on. If you hit a snag maybe go back a few lessons and work back to the point that you starred having a problem. Good luck work hard and long.Version: 2.1.56

Guitar Tricks reviewThe quality and the specificity of the lessons for specific songs is unmatched by anything free I've used before. Worth the spend to get it right. And the lessons and gear / tone sections are great for all levels of guitarist. Well done guitar tricks!.Version: 1.2.1

TeddyFantastic learning so much very easy to follow Love it ..Version: 1.3.13

ImpressionJ’aime beaucoup GuitarTricks ,peu dispendieux,comparé à un professeur,personnel compétent.parcontre il n’y a rien en français..Version: 1.3.13

Great TeachersGreat teachers but the app on the iPad is a little buggy with a few irritations navigating..Version: 1.4.0

Muzo2Fantastic help and reference for my guitar playing..Version: 1.7

Love the update! One suggestionI’ve been primarily using the website since it has been more feature rich than the app, but this update is wonderful! I didn’t care for the old layout much, but the new one is amazing. I’m sure you guys have thought about this, but one thing i’d recommend is incorporating auto-scroll into the app. Other than that, great!.Version: 2.0

GuitarAfter retiring, I started learning guitar with GuitarTricks. After close to a year, I am now starting fundamentals 2, and feel confident I can play many songs out of various song books. Maybe my rhythm and strumming isn’t perfect, but people can follow along and sing! I am going to continue with this program, excited that fundamentals 2 will expand the entire fretboard. Thank you, I recommend this app..Version: 1.3.13

Spend the money it’s worth itListen if your like me, which is , I need to know how things work Before I do anything, then this is for you, yes you could jump into songs and they have easy modes on that, BUT they’ll say things like sus4 , Barr , power chords.. etc I need to know what that is completely to understand what I’m doing, their beginner stages goes into that in detail, does it take a while .. yes .. is it sometimes boring .. yes. But you’ll understand why they go into detail later on.. and it’s def worth it..I don’t like to rush into the next lesson.. I need to have the chords sounding almost perfect before I go on..oh and tons of songs to learn.. love this app.Version: 1.6

The content is great but the app could be betterI am really enjoying learning guitar with GuitarTricks, but the app for iPhone doesn’t provide the same experience as the website yet. I hope it will get better, or I’ll continue to use the website on a computer..Version: 1.6

Great Learning ToolGuitar Tricks is packed with beginner, intermediate, and advanced lessons. Tons of tools, practice videos, info on gear and types of music and artists. The instructors are top notch!!! The app is easy to use, intuitive, has everything the website has in an easy to use package. I have not encountered any technical problems with the app. I like guitar tricks because they stay true to the songs they teach, the don't "dumb down" the songs, slow them down, or abbreviate them - they teach the authentic version of the song. They do offer some simplified versions, but label them as such..Version: 1.3.12

Good posture and good practicesThe only app I found out there in which good posture and good practices are explained and encouraged. I also love the other more gamifyed options, but this one seems to be the a very good choice if you have longer term guitar learning plan..Version: 1.3.13

Very good systemEnjoying learning guitar 👍.Version: 1.6

Great lessonsThis app is so appreciated finally I feel like I have hope to learn the guitar. The instructions are clear and concise and give you valuable tips on the learning process..Version: 1.3.4

Great appI have this site both on my laptop and tablet and it's great to have to hand anywhere I am. A great selection of lessons from technique to songs, broken down into bitesize pieces..Version: 1.3.4

AwesomeIf your looking to learn guitar I highly recommend Guitartricks. They have video, tools, tabs, backing tracks and much more well done to all the the teachers keep up the good work. Cheers from the land down under.Version: 1.2.1

Don’t look anywhere else...IMO this is the best online guitar instruction site out there. There are a lot of great guitar instruction sites, but I haven’t found one with more content. The App is easy to navigate and I use it daily. The App doesn’t have everything that is offered on their site, so, if you’re looking for something and are unable to find it, go to the web site. Enjoy and Good Luck!.Version: 1.4.0

Other instruments?Hi I just got the app and most of the videos are acoustic and electric, I have an electric guitar but I mainly focus on my ukulele, do you guys have any videos on that, I wanted to pay for the subscription but there’s no point if I can’t learn the instrument I want, also whenever I choose a song to learn on the electric they all say “upgrade for full access” are there any free lessons or a sorting button for free? I just want to see how the instructors teach on the app to see if I like it, other than that it’s a pretty good app..Version: 1.7

From zero to infinityI knew nothing about guitar a year and a half ago, but I always thought it would be something I would want to learn someday. So finally, after deciding that I spent too many winter evenings watching Netflix, I bit the bullet on a $200 guitar and bought the gt app. I Worked through all the lessons in fundamental 1 and 2 in 6-8 months. i have been playing songs ever since and learning more each day. Guitar tricks continues to offer song lessons at easy to advanced levels so I know that as I improve, I will never get bored. After a year I decided I liked playing so much I bought a $2,000 Taylor guitar which I love. I will tackle the advanced fundamentals when I decide on a direction. But meanwhile, I’m having too much fun learning songs. I get a little better every day..Version: 1.7

Great site, great appThe app is great and allows you to access everything you can on the website as far as I can tell, the only thing missing are progress bars, there is no easy way to see where you left off within a particular lesson..Version: 1.3.3

Learning Made Easy (err, easier)The instructors are fantastic. Each lesson is short and teaches something a bit new. Although the lessons build on what's come before, you can skip lessons if you want. Where the app falls down a bit is in managing your lesson progress. You can't see what you've already completed (by say a checkmark), you can only go directly to the last lesson. You also can't mark lessons as favourites so that you can return to them easily again. Also, they send out regular special lessons. But, if you tap them, the next time you try to resume your regular lessons, you'll be brought back to that special lesson. If it wasn't for that, I've be giving this five stars..Version: 1.3.4

This is the only one that worked for meIve tried to self teach my self electric guitar 4 times and i always put it down and get aggravated. Until i found guitar tricks that is. Ive been playing 21 days now and i am actually remembering the things they teach on there. So it feels way more natural to play and i actually feel like im making momentum and maintaining traction with this. Cant complain about a thing. Im able to fully learn and remember a chord in less than an hour. Its not clean but i dont forget them. Thats hasnt happened any other way that ive tried. Very happy!.Version: 2.1.58

Works wellNo problems so far.Version: 1.2.1

Amazing lessonsI have been learning guitar the past six years. Ever since I started lessons with Guitar Tricks, I am enjoying playing guitar more. Amazing lessons! I can recommend to anyone..Version: 1.3.13

Awesome appAwesome.Version: 1.3.8

Best guitar instructional appI have been using this app for a few years. The quality of instruction is excellent. The lessons are easy to follow and I like having the tabs to refer to. There’s something for e everyone. Keep adding more songs!.Version: 1.3.12

Love the app, but a few problemsI am just learning to play and it is truly painful to get through the beginner courses. The lady is probably so nice, but I don’t want to learn guitar (especially power chords) from a Rosey cheeked lady who can’t sing. It was so hard to motivate myself past those courses. Also the phone app is not great to look at the notations etc, it seems to be more suited for a desktop use. All in all it is a great app with lots of great lessons and ability to pick and choose what I want to learn. Would recommend, but please fix the phone app difficulties and reinvest in new beginner lessons..Version: 1.5

Guitar tricksThis is really helping me.Version: 1.6

Loving it!I’ve never picked up a guitar before and have decided to learn. I love how this app breaks everything down for you! It’s helpful to have the visual along with the instruction. My favorite part is that they even break down how to strum. If you’ve never done it before, all of this stuff is unknown. So, to have someone there to teach you all of the techniques is extremely helpful! I’ve now mastered quite a few chords and I’ve also been able to play along with a couple of the songs that they teach! Thank you for the awesome instruction on so many levels!.Version: 2.0

Guitar TricksA great app! I am a beginner who took a few lessons many years ago. This app, and the website, have lessons suited for every skill level, plus a large and varied song library. The videos are great for following along, and you can go as fast or as slow as you want. The subscription is about $27/month, but that is cheaper than guitar lessons, and I can sit down and play with it whenever I want. I am definitely getting value for my money so far..Version: 1.3.4

One flawThe app is great. Possibly the best guitar app out there (and I’ve tried several). However, one infuriating flaw is that it doesn’t show you which videos you’ve already viewed and which you haven’t. It’s particularly frustrating when you have to stop today’s lesson and can’t bookmark your position. I find myself surfing through many similarly themed videos in search of my bookmark. That wastes a lot of time. Otherwise, very well done..Version: 1.7

Great content - more price options neededThese are fantastic lessons. There is so much here for both beginners and experienced players. I just wish there were more pricing options. I know it is a great value for what it has but it is more expensive than other apps out there. That being said, these are real video guitar lessons. The jam tracks and sheet music are great additions. The only thing it lacks are built in practice and review..Version: 2.1.62

Top quality lessons for allI have been playing guitar for around 30 years, but had a long break of nearly 10 years. I needed something to inspire and challenge me and at the same time fill in some of the missing skills. GuitarTricks has been just what I have been looking for, and already I have widened my knowledge and skill. Great app..Version: 1.2.3

Worth to pay!I am a beginner and tried many YouTube videos to learn. Some were good, some not so good. After reading a few online reviews, I downloaded GuitarTricks free service. I loved the layout and the quality of the instructional videos so decided to pay for the yearly membership. It has been a week now and I enjoy it so much everyday. Highly recommended..Version: 1.3.13

Great appJust what I needed! I can learn at my own pace and the lessons are easy to understand and follow. I feel it has better cost value for beginners than a physical instructor..Version: 1.3.13

GoodGood.Version: 1.3.4

Slovene Guitar Tricks hate the new AppThe new App now has fixed windows that can’t be adjusted. You can make the video section window full screen but the tablature is isolated to the small bottom third of the screen and you can’t resize it, like before. You have to replay the video over and over again to understand what you can’t see in the tablature section, or pause the video, move the tablature around to see the noted, then unpause to follow along. The windows on the screen need to be adjustable again. Why do app developers keep refreshing the look of an App and breaking things that used to work fine?.Version: 2.1.4

Brilliant systemGreat learning tool for guitarists of any level. Instructors, song choice and lessons are all fantastic. Love it on my Mac, even happier to have an iPad app as well. Won't disappoint..Version: 1.0.0

Great AppUse this app most days as part of my practice routine. Love the way it's constructed in a methodical manner to help develop your learning process. Recommend to anyone who wants to and does play guitar..Version: 1.3.0

For new peopleGreat app must try if new.Version: 1.5

The teachers and clarity are a Game changerLet’s be honest. Everyone thinks they are a great teacher but few are. I’ve tried guitar lessons on and off for the 22 years I’ve been trying to learn guitar. In the end, messing about and learning through trial and error has always been more fun and I’ve ditched the teacher. The app is easy to use - yes it sometimes has glitches. Yes it sometimes is easy to lose track. But structure isn’t what keeps my interest. This app is addictive because the lessons are clear, they are short, they let you jam before boredom kicks. You feel like you are winning. Constantly. The teachers aren’t arrogant. The clips are short which means if (like me) you occasionally zone out...you can go back and watch that but again. Brilliant. I actually learn and like it!.Version: 1.7

AwesomeAmazing step by step instructions clear as a bell. I’m 62 I was thinking no hope until I started learning with these musicians. I thought no, to much hype all talk and no results. How wrong could I have been. I was totally wrong and now I admit it’s the best investment in my well being I could have done. Try it you won’t look back.Version: 1.7

Easy to learn an very valuable lessonsI wanted to Thankyou for a amazing guitar program . Your trainers make it very easy to learn . I was on (fender play) putting hrs in of play every day an realised i felt like I was going no where . I jump on guitar tricks an put the same amount of hrs in an I’m switching between chords like I’m a pro . Of course with a little practise an repetitiveness. I’m just about to pass course 1 an I’m feeling very happy with where I’m at . When learning guitar I found strategy is a big percentage of it . You need to know learn how to switch to chords quick because that changes your perception on what songs you can play an what songs you can creat. Fender play didn’t do this within its courses . It’s a very key foundation for me (personally) to get a handle on guitar so you can start rocking the world with your own amazing music Love learning from Lisa . She makes it fun an so easy ..Version: 2.2.0

FunReally fun app. Highly recommended.Version: 1.3.7

Very impressedA well organized app with lots of interesting lessons that really delve into topics..Version: 1.3.13

Great app! Amazing lessons!I have reached through all the internet for a good app that can teach me guitar. I was a complete beginner!! But when I start things I like to do them well (especially if I’ll pay for it). I did a deep research on the apps that teach guitar, like Yousician and Simple Guitar, and believe me, this is the best one that you can invest on! I’ve been using this app for a couple of months, and even though I haven’t been as persistent, I can definitely see so much improvement! Imagine if you go serious about it with this app! They go slow pace, they really take in count that you are a beginner. They have different levels (if you are more advanced). They have a ton of classes of every type of guitar that you may have. Also they have full tutorials on songs and other cool tricks. If you want to get serious with the guitar and learn every detail (and not just know how to play it) this is the app for you. And if you also are looking to just know how to play songs, this is the app for you. I truly recommended! Amazing professors! And the price is accesible. Right now I’m paying 10$ / month.Version: 2.2.0

Don’t Believe Negative ReviewsGuitar Tricks, their organized approach, small bite lessons (typically 5-minutes), and tracking system is phenomenal. Better than anything else out there. I can’t understand the few reviews that are at all negative (most are very favorable). I think some people just like to criticize because it makes them feel in control, powerful, and good despite their miserable lives. If they could do better, then why don’t they? Hard to do better than Guitar Tricks, in my view. Guitar Tricks is outstanding and I highly recommend..Version: 1.3.13

ImpressedLearning guitar has been one big goal of mine since I was a kid. I went through atleast 3 phases of trying to learn and it never worked out. I’d learn some riffs and that’s about it. In person lessons always felt very pressured to master something in about a weeks span. I finally decided to give it another try but the right way. In my first week of guitar tricks I’ve learned more than I ever have, and I feel like I’m learning it in the right steps. Overall impressed with the quality and price of this.Version: 2.1.56

Great tool for learning guitar or improving your chops.I’ve been learning to play guitar for 35 years and so far this program for learning is the best thing for me. There are always new things to learn. From warm up exercises, to different styles, to teaching songs the way they were played on the record, writing songs, and solos. If I’ve ever had problems with the app, I’ve had help with them. No problems. It works for me..Version: 1.3.11

Very good but still needs improvementsGreat app with lessons on techniques for beginners to advanced. They really need to work on their song library. A band like Green Day is not even in their library. Popular bands like Led Zeppelin is in there, but not even their top hits, 2 lesser known songs, really? GunsnRoses there is no Sweet Child of Mine or Welcome to the Jungle, you just get Knocking on Heavens Door. GuitarTricks needs to at least make videos on bands’ top 5 songs. Instead they have like the 20th most popular song. They do a decent job with AC/DC..Version: 2.0

Great way to learnI have been playing for 35 years and I do alright but I wanted to go back to the basics and really learn some things. I love the simple steps they take and break down the lessons. This has really been great for me. I’ve learned a lot so far, there is also a lot of content so I won’t get bored I can jump around a bit and do different things. I would recommend to anyone at any level. Great app!. Thanks Guitar Tricks.Version: 1.7

Nothing betterStructured progress, this site focuses on you actually playing music. The songs they teach are all licensed from the creators so are accurate. Great value, this site is the best when you want play actual music on your guitar..Version: 1.3.4

OkFairly good.as boring as you'd expect.Version: 1.3.4

Straightforward ReviewFirst thing is, it’s a pretty good application. I was just browsing when I found out a comparison between Fender Play which I had against Guitar Tricks and Jam Something. I was astounded what Guitar Tricks was rated to. I signed up for free and I realized Fender Play wasn’t something right for me even I was a beginner. It was kind of expensive though and I hated the Guitar Tricks old interface. But when I saw the instructors who don’t hate making videos like the ones on the Fender Play it was awesome and the amount of knowledge I gained in 2 months really is worth. Even the guitar fundamentals are beyond expectations that even my friend who has been playing for years doesn’t know. Some of the reviews definitely mention that it has some issues with the password and stuff. I had that too but here I’m rating about the content and the application usability. For any issues, I call them directly and they get my account fixed..Version: 2.1.58

Good but FlawedContent is excellent. The Blues lessons are great. Navigation is a total pain and the App just closes randomly on occasion..Version: 2.2.0

Enjoying this App so MuchThis is my 2nd go around trying to learn guitar. My 1st was in-person lessons 15 years ago and I was just not mature enough for them to sink in. Fast forward to present day and being stuck at home during a pandemic, I decided to give guitar another shot. This app was well reviewed so it was the first I tried. I love it! The lessons are structured in a way that let you learn at the most basic level but feel accomplished if you actually do the practice between lessons. I can’t recommend this highly enough. I feel like I might actually be able to play when I’m done here. The song selection from real artists is fantastic as well, they’ve included a huge library! You should definitely go through the trial period. The app will speak for itself from there. Once the trial is over, it’s reasonably priced and well worth the money..Version: 2.1.5

People stop complainingThis is an app for members of guitar tricks. Free content is available on the website. Great app, great site. People need to stop expecting things for nothing.Version: 1.3.4

I am learning to play the guitar!I am learning to play the guitar. This app/program seems to be very good. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and thus far I am impressed and happy. I like that the lessons are broken up into manageable segments and the instruction is very thorough. The benefit of this program is that it’s easy to pick back up when you want. When ever your practice may be it’s easy to jump in..Version: 1.7

Very good appI find the app very helpful with lots of good examples. Would appreciate ability to see more tabs of the exercises and demos. That would make it perfect for me..Version: 1.3.4

ExcellentNice app for iPad . With the repeat a/b function, no need my computer anymore. Good job guys.Version: 1.3.0

Must Have AppAbsolutely a must have app that makes learning guitar and songs so easy and enjoyable. Great instructors, step by step instructions and worth every dollar of the subscription. A great extension to a terrific website, and best value for money on the market - hands down..Version: 1.0.0

It's workingI am learning to play, and this method is simply working for me..Version: 1.3.4

Great AppI had been taking lessons from an awesome instructor. He took the summer off and I was super bummed. A friend told me to try Guitar Tricks. Holly Freak!!! It has been the best. I started at the beginning figuring I can always learn more and man did I ever. Now I’m playing songs I never thought I’d be able to. Highly recommend this app..Version: 1.3.13

StructureWhen I was in my twenties, I taught 10+ people how to fly a helicopter, from zero experience to a private, commercial, instrument, instructor, etc. rating, using a structured program. Works almost every time. When I tried taking guitar lessons (3 different instructors) in my advanced years, the instructors had no plan, no structure, no stated goals. I spent a good portion of each lesson watching them display their talents. Then another third of the lesson sitting and watching them decide what they wanted me to practice for the next lesson. It just didn’t work for my mindset. I’m sold on this program. I think they are doing it the right way..Version: 1.3.11

Senior, rank beginner. This app may not suit the needs of everyone- but for this senior total beginner it is just the thing. Been taking and repeating beginner lessons virtually daily since Christmas ‘17 (one month) and making progress. Love the ability to repeat lessons over and over. Initial teacher, Lisa McCormack, is clear, patient, full of great tips, instills optimism . . . And makes learning fun. I got a one year subscription from wife, for Christmas. Could hardly be more pleased. . . Except for sore fingers - not the fault of Guitar Tricks! . . . Which rocks! -B .Wade Houston.Version: 1.3.8

FREE SO FAR !Presented by sensible musicans, evenly paced and clearly directed. As a complete newbie I couldn’t ask for more. Thanks..Version: 1.3.13

Better than the websiteThis makes Guitartricks so much better. I was already a full member and was waiting for the App to come out..Version: 1.0.0

Excellent App and TutorialsThis App helped me get back into playing guitar again. I played through my teens but with one thing and another stopped playing. Picked a guitar backup 15 years later and realised I had forgotten a lot. Started with guitar tricks and my playing is getting backup up to speed. I also realised that there were lots of gaps in my knowledge. Guitar tricks has handy bite size lessons that are easy to engage with. You can print off the supporting material from there website which is handy. All in all an excellent app which is worth the money I spend on the subscription each month..Version: 1.3.4

GreatI absolutely love the way this app has been able to get me motivated to play and learn. Superb instruction and break down of songs. My playing is developing so well now. It turns out this is a cheap investment for a really worthwhile return. So much is available. It’ll keep me busy for years. Well done..Version: 1.3.13

Excellent SiteI’ve had Guitar Tricks for about three years and it has really improved my skills and song learning. I’ve tried a few others but I believe that the song library and versatility along with the top notch instructors make this the best. If you want to approach learning songs the right way, this is the app for you. I record on a multitrack so learning all guitar parts are crucial and this does it. Also it teaches all types of skills and techniques which I really need. I usually use it at home on my desktop but when away from home this keeps me practicing. Guitar Tricks is constantly adding new material, instructors, and songs. This is a 5 star all the way..Version: 1.7

Please fix full screen 🙏🏻I love the app so far and the content is great, but every couple lessons the video options disappear and there’s no way to get them back. When I tap on the video, no options come up, and so I have no way to put it full screen. Unfortunately, all I have is a phone to access the website and watching on the tiny window that shows up is pretty difficult. Would be greatly appreciated if this could get fixed 🙏🏻.Version: 1.3.8

Great courses - song library underwhelmingAnders’ fundamentals course has been the one I have stuck to the easiest, I am excited and look forward to his lessons. It has been easy to stick to. I Have tried other self guided apps / tutorials but Ander’s curriculum and method has been the best I’ve experienced. The only downside of the app is their song library. While it does offer some great selections of songs it feels like the songs that I would be excited to learn are few and far between. If your looking for a great fundamentals course (or a course on a particular style like blues) I’d definitely recommend the app!.Version: 2.1.62

Totally worth the price!I’ve been playing guitar for over 35 years and in that time I’ve sought out numerous instructors, none of whom were particularly good. I decided to give Guitar Tricks (which is anything but a “trick”) a try. To my delight I have found it to be very informative and covers such a breadth of topics, very easy to use, and very flexible. Even at the monthly subscription rate (vs the annual rate) it is still a screaming deal. I said I’d never have an app that was subscription based but this is different given that it is an ongoing instruction app. So very glad I signed up. My playing and understanding has definitely increased and I look forward to using the app daily. Good job!.Version: 1.4.0

YoGood.Version: 1.3.4

Helping me get back in to playingGuitartricks is helping me get back in to playing guitar. I always seem to be at beginner level but now I feel at last like I am progressing. The App is a great tool to use when sat down in a comfy room away from my computer. I would make one request and that is to link my web progress to the app..Version: 1.3.0

Great for all levelsThis is the best online guitar teaching site that I have come across. I have been playing guitar since I was a youngster in the 70s, paid for private lessons, played in bands and jammed with friends but never felt that I could become more than an intermediate guitarist. I joined guitar tricks nine months ago and have learned a lot more about technique and 'how to play'. The vast content in guitar tricks will help you improve your playing whatever your level..Version: 1.2.3

Good learn guitar appTried a few of these apps. This one I think is the best. Lessons are structured very well. Only reason I put 4 stars is because I was expecting some more songs. There’s a lot of songs but as an example there’s only one Hendrix (hey joe) I could find. Who doesn’t want to learn all the Hendrix classics. Worth a subscription regardless as you still learn a lot..Version: 1.3.13

5 StarsThis is a great App for everyone not just beginners. The more I use it, the more functions I find. The instructors are first class. Well worth the expenditure.Version: 2.1.58

Mike’s reviewBest thing I have done to support myself learning the guitar...full time access to teachers at anytime I need. Plus, presented in a way that allows me to understand and develop my skills with a vast selection and styles of music...I feel more confident and enjoy my guitar more than ever!.Version: 2.0

Great website and appJust bought my first guitar 3 weeks ago, tried several free online sites which gave me an idea but quickly realised I needed something that would teach me the basics better. Done my research and Guitar tricks was the answer and I am glad I did. At 55 I am amazed how quickly I am picking it up and love the ease of the lessons. Well done.Version: 1.7

Amazing learning system but poor appI am loving this program for learning guitar however I am frustrated with the app and so I wanted to provide some feedback. I am having a hard time with the navigation. When I finish a series I don’t know how to get to the next one. Also if i close the app and return I can’t figure out where I left off. I see the history but it isn’t linked back to lessons so it is not very useful. There is also no way to save favorite lessons like I can on my computer. If these abilities mentioned above are present they are hard to find or understand. There are also some really great features in the app as far as how the screen is split so you can see the words, music, and teacher. Thanks for a great learning program and I look forward to an improved app as I intend to continue with this program for a while..Version: 1.7

Site nav toolThere are several things I would like to see added. Quick links to songs preview of the entire song in the beginning of the actual class give us a video tour explaining how to track progress navigate the sight. Kind of frustrating when you’re just trying it out before buying. By the time I learn the site and where I place in it and getting acclimated. I know that you guys deserve 5stars but I can’t really navigate the site that’s where the other 2stars are at😊.Version: 1.3.13

Guitar tricks is a tremendous boost for me.I had just been essentially doing warm up exercises and dabbling with various guitar apps. It was not until I started with GuitarTricks I expanded my playing by an order of magnitude. I was basically just trying to exercise my fingers and toughen up my finger tips on my fretting hand. I didn’t not want to pickup any bad habits. It was not until this I began picking cords and building a base. The more I am learning the more I am wanting to play. I feel by the time I finish the beginner courses I will have a solid foundation. From there I can pick up other guitar tabs and other theories..Version: 1.3.13

Fantastic GuitarThis course has taken me from absolute beginner level to a reasonable sound Guitar player. Learning still everyday. I would highly recommend the course to anyone thinking of Learning Guitar. Excellent course content and Anders explains everything in an easy to understand manner..Version: 2.1.58

Great learning toolGreat lessons, well presented, wide range of techniques and skills covered..Version: 1.3.4

Amazing appHas everything you need to really learn guitar. You can focus on songs but it has all the theory you need to get really good..Version: 1.3.2

Great appAn all in one, go to app to learn the guitar. For me learning the theory makes playing new songs easy. Great app.Version: 1.3.1

Excellent AppExcellent application with clear and easily understandable instructions / lessons. I’m an absolute beginner and have found the lessons structured logically with easy to understand video instructions. Only wish is for some form of interaction where my playing is assessed and advice given. Thanks again to GuitarTricks..Version: 1.7

Very solidExcellent app for beginners, core system gives you a clear pathway with structure. The way they teach songs is exceptional - covers the gear, sound and technics of all guitars used in the song. Really good learning tool..Version: 1.3.8

EXcellent GTR lessonsThough it is quite highly priced the lessons are excellent for all levels. Therefore, an excellent purchase for the serious aspiring guitarist. I am a bassist with 30 years experience and I've learnt quite a few new tricks and details Guitar Tricks I hadn't picked up before. Videos and printable scores are available throughout the lessons and there are some great additional ideas to old favourites!.Version: 1.2.3

Great lessonsGuitar tricks offers a massive range of lessons which are all very well put together and have helped me a lot with my guitar playing. App lacks some of the functionality of the website but works well and the lessons are just as good!.Version: 1.3.4

Absolutely the best for beginners.I learned guitar from scratch on this app. The lessons are great and I advanced quickly. As I progressed I wanted to learn more songs. That is when I turned to other options. It’s not that the lessons aren’t great but I’m one guy with an acoustic. I don’t need to know three plugged in guitar parts. If I were in a band that would be great however. My only suggestion is to gear more of your song lessons to people like myself..Version: 2.1.62

Well DoneGood app for short practice rather than firing up the laptop..Version: 1.3.1
