✓ Slows to a stopIt was not made clear that I would not be able to use my phone online in the regular way. It appears that to have secure web search I have to use the app.s search engine called DuckDuckGo? I was under the impression that if I paid for this service I could use my phone as usual yet be protected. There is no customer service option in the app. My phone is now incredibly slow. 4 minutes to complete a web search for Facebook!!! It was said that service would speed up my phone. ✓ Wait before you buyI like Disconnect but here are a couple issues with this app 1. From time to time it will disconnect from the VPN and leave you unprotected specially when transitioning from WiFi to LTE or vise versa. 2. Not very many details about their "VPN" features, do they logout data? What kind of encryption are they using? Do they discriminate against certain data formats such as bit torrent? 3. I understand you need to make money, hello businesses can't function without it but $50? At least by minimum offer a free sample, for the level of maturity the app has features wise it is not worth $50 per year. 5. And dear Disconnect don't release an app when you haven't updated your site with further details, it might frustrate a couple customers that trust you, and a support section on your site wouldn't harm either, it's good for business to give good customer support I'll await for future updates, and see if this app is appropriate for my long term use.Version: 1.0

✓ Connection IssuesI had a really hard time maintaining a steady internet connection. When you wake your phone up to use it, there was a delay while Disconnect connected to the servers so your internet connection would work and then it would stop working. Then you'd finally be connected to their servers and working fine and the connection would suddenly stop working so you'd have to disconnect from their VPN and then reconnect to get the Internet working. Also, I could never get it set to just connect only when I wanted it to. No matter what settings I used in Disconnect it would always try to connect to the VPN. There was no way around it. The App became much more of a problem than it was worth. On the positive side, it seems to work well on my laptop. Also, their customer service was very prompt to respond by email. ✓ Unfortunate initial experienceI downloaded it as it looked as though it would be cheaper than my current VPN service, as well as providing some more iOS browser security. Installed fine but, having initiated the trial period, it automatically switched on its VPN. Since I was on my home network, I went to Settings to switch it off and it locked up my iPad. I eventually managed to get it to reboot but not something I want to risk again. It's probably a good app and my experience was a one-off; it looks good value as it's lower cost that many other VPN services (I stay clear of free VPNs) and I've since received a good response from the developer. Unfortunately I've needed to get a VPN meanwhile (and found one that seems to fit my needs on iPad, iPhone, and MBP); if I hadn't I would probably try this one again.Version: 2.3.2
✓ Could not access annual subscriptionI was unable to link into my account after I lost a phone. I had an annual subscription with most of year left, but I was asked to pay to use it every time I tried to start it up again with no option to sign in as a member. ✓ Disappointed/Disgusted3 days to upload for all devices, when updates were available it took more than 24 hours to update, slows devices, no auto turn when devices were in use, had to always activate. I even tried to write a review 2 days ago and it replyed that the nickname was taken and erased the review. The correct thing is to allow for a new nickname to be entered. ✓ No way to report failures?If there’s a way to report URLs that never load, I haven’t found it. I spend most of my time rolling my eyes at another hung browser, switching to Disconnect to turn it off, switching back to the URL and now being able to load it. This doesn’t appear to be a latency issue: ExpressVPN loads these URLs, but Disconnect Premium never does. ✓ Great Service, buggy version of appI love the devise-wide protection Disconnect provides me, and I assure you it works. The problem is this latest version is more buggy and unstable than the previous one. The "Protected/Not Protected" graphics don't update correctly, and it disconnects very often (requiring to go into the app and switching the protection off and on again to work). The list of trackers blocked is nice, but I'd prefer stability over all the bells and whistles. Hopefully this app will be back in top form before long. Also, always wondered if it should read "visualize trackers" instead of "visalize trackers" on the main page of the app..Version: 2.1.1
✓ Crap UI redesignThe new UI is completely unusable on the iPad Pro. Click the wrong thing and your stuck, no way to close the window. The Location button is half hidden by the footer. ✓ Disconnect PremiumWhat started out as an excellent VPN and firewall has deteriorated through successive versions to the point where it is very difficult to use as a firewall, as the URL information which was previously displayed has been reduced to highlighting only the provider i.e. Apple or Akamai or Facebook etc. The information which was previously available in this app is no longer displayed (it can still be found but searching it to make valid decisions about what you want to block is now a real drag. The VPN continually switches off and has to be re-started, and on my iPhone the profile has to be removed in order to send emails. This app is not the same as the one advertised in the App Store - it is visually different and lacks the information pages displayed in the App Store. Disconnect Premium is expensive and doesn’t do what it is sold as doing anymore. For this reason I cannot recommend this app..Version: 3.0.6

✓ Promising, but not quite readyI've used the Disconnect Chrome plugin for a while now and find it useful. The iPhone app shows some promise, but it just isn't ready for prime time yet. There were issues with the subscription process, app functions are not intuitive to use and a few things seem broken. It's also not made clear that the app is essentially just a VPN service with some fancy (but meaningless) visualisations. For the price I would have hoped for much more. ✓ I really want to like Disconnect. But it doesn't work :(Disconnect is a fantastic idea and lead by really nice people. But, most unfortunately, the just don't deliver. Sure, *when* their products work, they're awesome. Over 1k trackers blocked, extra privacy, and of course, everyone needs a VPN on 100% of the time now. But...they rarely work. Their app and functionality is incredibly buggy and drops VPN connection (or simply fails to connect) CONSTANTLY. Their problem isn't device specific, or even OS specific: I have problems across all of my devices, as does my significant other and various friends that I recommended the service to. The bottom line is that all of their clients (or perhaps their service) is not reliable enough to recommend. I really, really hope they do a complete overhaul of whatever is causing the issue so that I can go back to recommending them, because theirs is the only service that stops trackers. Their support team is very helpful, but unfortunately has never been able to resolve any of the main issues (app instability and connection instability) on any environment/device. ✓ Sites will block you if you use this VPNI’m finding more and more sites recognizing this VPN address and blocking it. The sites will actually tell me it I’m using a blocker and turn it off. So, either this service needs more places from which to launch, or some way to make the Internet think it’s simply an IP address from a house. The point is to obfuscate our location. Well, I think the general business-facing side of the internet (the side which enjoys making billions selling our privacy) knows who Disconnect is and it’s nearly pointless to keep paying. ✓ Disconnect PremiumAfter getting a developer response that claimed the disconnect Premium problems were fixed, the VPN STILL doesn’t connect. Under the VPN section, it shows Tracking Protection and VPN. The VPN cycles on and off, just like it did before. All I got is Tracking protection, which appears as “VPN” on the left top corner of my iPhone. This is NOT a VPN! No problems with the actual VPN have been fixed. ✓ All Disconnect apps stopped workingA few months ago when I changed iPhone models (8 to an SE), each of these Disconnect apps suddenly started blocking ALL traffic. Facebook, webpages, email - if the VPN is on, all traffic to my phone is blocked. I used to love these apps because amongst others things they selectively blocked ads, which was amazing - but apparently that functionality has been removed. I just want the same app that I paid a subscription for to just work the way it used to - or at all. I've tried reinstalling VPN profiles, deleting and re-installing app, reboots etc - no luck. ✓ Safari tracking protection REMOVED in latest versionDo you have auto-update turned on? SURPRISE! Your Safari browsing is no longer protected with this app, and there is NOTHING to tell you, apart from paying close attention to the release notes (which many people don't read or even notice), that this feature was straight-up removed (and moved to a different app). Removing the central feature of your app in an attempt to move users onto your paid VPN service, and leaving them UNPROTECTED in the meantime, is totally unacceptable. I've been relying on Disconnect for browser-tracking protection across all my systems, but if they are willing to make such a shady move, I'm not sure I trust them anymore..Version: 2.0
