Yousician: Learn & Play Music for Negative User Reviews

Literally TERRIBLE!So I got this app a few months ago so I could learn ukulele and maybe some guitar on the side. However, this app is definitely not free - just make it so you could buy this app instead - and kind of a waste of time buying it for free if you want to learn your favourite songs for a first. Secondly, I just don’t find it that helpful. I am a beginner to the ukulele and all of this is way to tricky without more practice (maybe do more lessons in between?). Overall, I don’t find it very helpful. Plus, if you want to use this app for free you’re only allowed to learn for 10 minutes a day! Not the best app but I can’t find any others I can use :( One more thing, I believe this is overpriced. It’s over £100 per year, I could buy six lessons taught by a professional with that. It’s stupid that it’s that price for premium. Premium only really lets you have unlimited lesson time and let’s you play your favourite songs (not a lot of my favourites are on)..Version: 4.5.1

This app is all right just make the beginning a bit easierAlso You made me hate guitar and the entire ready of it.Version: 4.9.0

It’s good, but...It’s good but why pay for premium when you just want to simply learn a few more than 2 strings on a guitar for a 30 minute lesson? I have a dad who is very skilful at guitar and is eager to teach beginners, but he is also quite a perfectionist with him and others. (I know you’re supposed to be but it takes out the fun sometimes) so I got Yousician. I was having a blast and I learnt so many new guitar strings in 15 minutes (since I was an absolute beginner) but then it said “free lesson time is over”. I thought, does everything have premium now? :( I know they do it because they need money, and don’t get me wrong, I completely respect that...it’s just can we have more than 15 minute free time? Maybe an hour a day or 40 mins for free? It would really help. Even if you switch onto another instrument (or singing) it still does the same thing. Okay, I know yall are tired of me now, so I’ll stop ranting. Onto the pros. I love how it can tune my guitar and teach me new songs, Yousician or not! It has really helped me, and it taught me all my strings and made me get better! I’m just saying it would be even better than that if we had over 15 minutes. Love yall 😊✌🏽🍬 (No, I’m not sharing my name. Go away.).Version: 4.9.0

TrashIt dose not work it won’t listen to u very well this is a joke.Version: 4.11.3

Potential but ruinedI downloaded this app quite a while ago and you used to be able to do so much more on it but I downloaded it again for you only being able to play the beginning and you have to pay for the rest this app has so much potential but its all about money of coarse this app would prob make more if it was entirely free with adds of coarse but you could also add something so people could pay to remove adds. I got an electric guitar for Christmas and every app you have to pay for so it’s upsetting that I would need to pay for something that’s free in your mind I get personal trainers are expensive but young people who would love to play guitar cant because the prices of stuff like this.Version: 4.45.0

One suggestion….Yousician is a great app, it is teaching me how to play amazingly! There’s just 2 small problems with the guitar lessons. 1, I feel like it went from really easy to really hard within one lesson. I don’t know about anyone else but I found riffs quite difficult and I feel you could have taught them better. 2, I felt like I needed some sort of motivation to keep learning. I get that you tried to do the 10 mins a day thing but for me that really didn’t. Otherwise this is a great app and I would recommend for most..Version: 4.67.0

10 mins a DAY!I am appalled at this app. I read the reviews but i thought “ i’ll just get premium and it’ll be fine. It’ll only cost me a couple dollars a month”. NOPE! This app costs me $44 a month! I wouldn’t settle for $44 a year! So i decided to calm down and just do 10 mins a day. I wake up the next day and grab my ukulele ready to begin and it says I’ve already completed my 10 mins. UGH! 😑 again i decided to calm down and try out the singing feature. But it said i did 10 Mins already too! 10 mins a day for all instruments! This app is not trying to help you with your skills. It just wants your money. I am for sure deleting this app unless you cut down the price on premium..Version: 3.13.0

Good then bad to worseFirst it was very fun but in 2 days I stoped playing because I only got 20 min for free trial.Version: 4.19.0

Deceptive adGood luck on the advertised free app. It will not get you anywhere. And I hope they fooled so many subscribers as the ads is not just non-stop and annoying that I decided I will never give them money as I even should be paid for the annoying over and over ads everywhere; like everywhere!.Version: 4.17.1

Not greatAt first I submitted that i could play a little bit of guitar yet they still started to teach me all the things I already knew and then I was playing the exact notes it was telling me to yet they came up wrong, I played the whole son again and those notes still came up wrong. P.s my guitar was in tune. Also they don’t even properly teach you or to read music..Version: 3.18.2

This app is a scam and over pricedDon’t get sucked in to the free trial it ends in 5 days and then you are automatically signed to a 12 month membership for $270!! It is Criminal. I demand my money back. I have every right to get my money back but they also make it impossible to contact anyone. So resorting to a review..Version: 2.57.0

I don’t get how it got so bad?I started learning guitar on this app around 1 year ago. It really did help me learn guitar skills. Back when I first got it you could play pretty much any song, but then an update happened where all the popular songs were gone. And all the songs that I had saved to learn were gone. At first it was fine, I was a little angry but it was fine. Then the new update came where I was so excited to see all my favourite popular songs were back. They all said premium next to them which I had so I was so happy. I then found out you had to have premium+ for the songs... this was disappointing as I only am learning guitar so why would I pay $280 for instruments that I am not learning? I would like to think there will be an option soon for all songs for one instrument..Version: 3.0.0

Definitely Needs UpdatesFairly occasionally the app won’t recognize that the correct note was played, and might even say that you hit a string you didn’t touch. That was really rough when I didn’t know how any of it was supposed to sound, but could see that I was on the right string, with my finger on the right fret. It’s really discouraging when it happens in the beginning, and gets very frustrating once you’ve gotten better at playing the guitar, and know you did it right. A feature that feels necessary after a year of using the app is the option to either turn off the color coding for what fingers goes where, or have the option to change the finger positioning on the tabs. Most of the time the color coding is pretty useful, but every once in a while it makes the song a lot harder to play than it really has to be. Typically I can ignore the color coding when I don’t agree with it, but it gets more difficult when the tempo for the song gets quicker, and I’m noticing the colors fly by that’s telling me that my pointer finger should be where my middle finger already is, even though doing so is more disorienting than helpful. I’ve heard that there’s some place to request for Yousician to try to add certain songs, but it would be a lot better if there was a tab for suggestions on the actual app..Version: 4.72.0

Cool concept, execution a bit lacking.First off, if you’re like me and you want to perfect each exercise (get 3 stars) before moving on to the next, be prepared for endless hours of frustration. The app doesn’t do a very good job of picking up notes that are very clearly being played (like, you can clearly hear the full chord and see that every string is ringing), especially if you’re playing through an amp. They either need to fix the note recognition problem, or relax the standards a bit. It’s more a matter of luck than skill whether or not you manage to make it through a whole song without at least one note in a chord not registering, and it kind of takes the joy out of using the app. It’s much less of a problem on the “knowledge” and “lead” path where you’re mostly playing individual notes than it is with the “rhythm” path. Besides that, the original songs are pretty cheesy. Would be cool to learn more blues licks and picking patterns, but maybe I just haven’t gotten far enough into the exercises for all that because I’m stuck trying to get 3 stars on some dumbed down version of Brown Eyed Girl or whatever..Version: 4.24.0

DisappointedThis app sucks.Version: 4.19.0

It’s not very goodThe reason it’s not very good is because it doesn’t read the notes you play as well as it says I’ve been playing perfectly then all of a sudden it waits for me to “catch-up” but I’ve also tested me playing out of tune and playing on the frets and out of time it still say “perfect” not the greatest app tbh but that’s just my opinion not saying you shouldn’t download the app..Version: 2.47.0

Great Idea, Terrible PlatformI’m so frustrated with this program right now. I bought it because I like it but it’s extremely difficult to get the program to read all of your notes. I’m a 20 year guitar veteran who is going through everything to try and get all the gold stars before I advanced to the higher stuff. I first started out using my phone but the sound coming out of the phone conflicted with the sound going in the phone and cost a bunch of problems. So I started using headphones. This works great when you’re playing bass, there are rarely issues. But when playing guitar I’ve had to go as far as using a USB interface on my computer plugging the guitar directly into it and using the amp sounds within the program. However it regularly grinds to a halt like the audio engine can’t support it, even though I’m running it on a really good system that I custom built. There’s one particular exercise were in a matter how many times I hit this one particular low email it won’t register it. A succession of two emails and it just won’t register the second one like two out of three times. Making it impossible for me to get gold stars and making me very frustrated. I’m so mad at this program right now.Version: 2.51.0

Singing great, guitar tuning terribleI’ve been using this app for a while now for my singing, and it’s been great, but a bit ago I tried to guitar lessons on it, and the part that helped you tune the guitar was absolute trash. It either said I was to high or too low, never in the middle. It also would say that I needed to make it lower, so I would try, and I would barely tune, because at this point it was so tight it was almost impossible to make tighter, and then it said I was way to low and needed to make it higher, once again, I just barely turned the thing to tune it, and it was saying it need to be lower. It also, would stay in the middle between perfect and way to high, and would never move, except for when that one part I just mentioned would happen. I bet even if I went to a professional tuner it would say it’s to high or to low. Please, please fix this. If it wasn’t for that, then this would probably be 5 star review. Well, 5 star if that wouldn’t happen, and you didn’t have to install an entirely different app for piano. Also, please make the daily lesson time longer, it is WAY too short. Make the limit 30 minutes to 1 hour..Version: 4.12.2

It annoyed me within ten minutesI thought I’d give this app a go. Having signed away my life to create an account I eventually arrived at the tutorials. Whilst I’d hesitate to call myself a guitarist I have owned a couple of instruments for a few decades so I wasn’t overjoyed to have to go through ‘how to pluck a string’ before I could progress. Having successfully plucked a string I was hopeful of moving on yet every attempt at progress was blocked by a pop-up offering a free 14 days, followed by eleven quid a month subscription. Okay, we’ve all got to make a living but that applies to me as well. Some months I simply might not have the time to use my eleven quids-worth. Had it been £20 - £30 a module, fine. I could study at my leisure. So, whilst the content may have been satisfactory from my brief experience I couldn’t say. If you want punters to cough-up to use the full features, fine but the impression I got was that the developers desire for dosh is stronger than any notion of providing a service..Version: 3.0.0

Beware of TrialI signed up for the free trial over Christmas break for my son who now has a guitar. The app was doing okay at first and he seemed to like it. Then it couldn’t hear him well enough and kept asking for an amp to be plugged in (or not giving him credit for the notes he was playing.) An amp we don’t have...so now it just doesn’t seem to pick up what he’s playing despite lots of attempts to make it work. On the last day of the trial, I canceled because this was frustrating him and he quit playing. I had signed up for the 3 month subscription (with the trial you had to commit to something) because it was a good deal if he was really committed. When I went to cancel, it wouldn’t let me because it wasn’t 24 hours before the end of the trial (so technically 6 days...not 7). I emailed Yousician and they told me it was out of their hands and I needed to contact Apple. Well Apple pretty much told me it was my fault that I didn’t read the initial email (which it is in there and I didn’t see it at the time...it is my fault I suppose) but definitely disappointing that there was no grace and I was just out $60. That’ll teach me not to do trials. They always get you one way or another. And I wouldn’t have minded the $60 if the app worked well enough to pick up the sound without extra equipment. Just an 11 year old kid with a busy schedule wanting to learn how to play the guitar. :(.Version: 4.3.0

Unable to cancel. Aka robberyI’ve been trying to cancel this subscription for the last 3 years, I signed up through my computer probably 5 years ago. And now for 4 years they’ve been taking money off my account every December, I have two cancelation confirmations from 2020 and 2021. Yet they still take my money, $223 NZD. I’m a student I can’t afford to pay this, this is a disgrace. I’ve tried to see if I could call them however their does not seem to be a way too. I stopped playing guitar 5 years ago yet they’ve taken close too 1,000 dollars from me and I haven’t even used their app. Please give it back. Thank you, Michael..Version: 4.68.0

Almost good. What the app does well, it does well. Teaching the basics to beginners, proper technique and the like. However at the door of all of that, when you’re getting into playing the songs that are available, it really loses its shine. The song list is extremely basic, I constantly find myself listening and filling in tons of blank spaces. Single note trains isn’t fun or challenging for a bass player and leads me outright frustration. Some of the best known bassists aren’t even on the playlists, aside from rhcp, and some classic players from the ages. The problem with this is while it structures the fundamentals for bass, it doesn’t teach or challenge a player into becoming an outstanding bassist that really stands out on stage. Seeing as I paid the full 180 dollars for the year subscription, I feel I have grounds to complain about this. I also recommend, if the developers even read this, to include an option to disable vocals. The singers are very jarring to listen to. A playlist of songs that are incrementally more challenging and use unorthodox Basslines is something I hope to see in the future; as it stands for bass the song choices are incredibly monotonous. I can only speak for the bass side of things..Version: 2.61.0

I hate itIt does not for ukulele.Version: 4.16.0

Sound not picking up effectivelyThis app is really helpful for learning instruments however it can’t pick up what I’m playing sometimes and I get stuck doing the same lesson over and over again which I’m playing fine but the app doesn’t recognise me playing the notes correctly.Version: 4.12.3

Premium Fee PredatorThis app automatically charges a premium service to your CC after the ‘free test’ is complete and you wake up with an $80+ charge for a service that you will not use. They do not send out an email warning the potential user of this fee and run it through. I find this practice to be particularly predatory and not fair. I’ll change this review when they refund my money. - Sam.Version: 3.16.0

This app doesn’t deserve one star.Okay, so I downloaded this app last year and after trialing it for a while, I decided to get a one year subscription. Anyways, so all is well, I’m using the app every day and my guitar skills are really improving! Then, after a few months of using the app (about four months) I went on holiday and kind of stopped playing for a while. Then, just yesterday I picked up my guitar again and decided to try it out again, so I open the app and I’m excited because they have all these new songs. But they’re on premium? Which is weird because it says I can’t access it because I don’t have a premium account- but I do, I bought the subscription only a couple months back? So now it says I don’t have a premium account even though I should have another 3-4 months of premium access AT LEAST. TLDR: This app ripped me off, and won’t give me the 3 months of premium subscription I payed for..Version: 3.10.0

It's amazing but..I love Yousician so much because it helps you learn a musical interment but it keeps coming up with ads and keeps asking me to be a premium every time and that happens with every apps but I thought it was going to be different but if they upgraded they could do it occasionally instead of very single time. The other thing is that you can't play with two guitars in the room. I discorded this a while a go as my sister and I were happily going on to this app and did a song at the same song and I got it all wrong and its not because I'm bad its because of the app any who expect for those things its great. I think you love it as it gives you all the information and helps you a lot. It's not online so no one can go into your account and hack you. !HAVE FUN GOING ON YOUSICIAN!.Version: 3.0.0

Premium is a bit shadyI purchased the premium for ukulele version of this app for about $120 for the year. It’s by far the most money I’ve ever spent on an app, but it’s cheaper and more convenient than scheduled lessons so I thought why not. I feel like I’ve learned a lot from the app but recently felt cheated when in my lesson popped up a song, Brown Eyed Girl, which I was excited about because many of the songs are a bit obscure they give you to play and I knew this song. But it was just an ad for their Super Duper Premium, or whatever they call it. I don’t believe this was offered when I originally subscribed and I was under the impression I had unlimited access; it’s definitely a bit shady to change terms after a purchase has been made; it boils down to they want another $60. This begging for more money leaves me feeling cheated. I thought I was paying for ad free and yet... That said, my kids each have free accounts and get the same songs I do, but can only do a ten minute lesson instead of the unlimited time I get. That time is perfect for them. It’s a very fun app and I do feel like I’ve learned a lot, but unfortunately I still do feel a bit cheated by Yousician and probably won’t renew their premium service..Version: 2.54.1

To much money..I recently began to try and learn the guitar and I looked at this app and thought great! Finally a free app (I thought this as on apple phones at the top it says in app purchases or how much the app costs and this said no such thing) after about an hour of learning that I thoroughly enjoyed, I wasn’t able to take anymore lessons until I signed up to the premium feature which meant a 7 day free trial and after that a largely overpriced fee per month that more than doubled after a year it’s such a shame I found something I liked and now supposedly need to pay a stupid amount if money for it then I looked on the reviews and found plenty other reviews like the one I am making and the feedback was “thanks for this comment keep rocking!” Or some other weird ai generated stuff that clearly shows how much this company cares about there costumers I strongly urge all to not download unless u have a big sum of money to spare..Version: 4.88.0

I hate this appThe reason I hate this app is because when I play my use in right tune it is red.Version: 4.21.1

Sucks so hardThis app has a “free session” of frickin 10 mins a day, which is complete bull[insert_here]. Get a real music teacher instead of this crappy app trying SO HARD to get money from you by paying 150CAD a year for a subscription that doesn’t even allow user created content. For that u need to pay another 70$ making it a 220CAD subscription. Total bullcrap. I can compare Yousician to Disney now cuz all they want is money and nothing else. The devs of Yousician can go to hell along with these outrageous subscription prices..Version: 3.24.0

Now TOO EXPENSIVE!!Man guys! This is now as expensive as one on one with a professional piano teacher!! Nearly $50 a month on a month my month sub is crazy! I did have a yearly sub when it was cheaper but now $280+ for a year is just ridiculous! Was a tough choice to spend before price went up but was worth it just but now - NO WAY. Very sad..Version: 3.13.0

Focusing on mainly the guitar part of this appI found this app extremely unhelpful in further developing my guitar skills. The system is not functional the majority of the time and I felt there was an extreme lack of diversity in song difficulty. From what I could gather by tinkering with this app for a good while it lacks anything useful for experienced players or even people who have been taking lessons or teaching them selves for a year or two. And I do know this apps purpose is for beginners the majority of the time, but with such A high rating I would have thought there would be something for experienced or even average players.Version: 2.45.0

Kind of annoyingI got this app a few days ago, which probably isn’t enough time to have an opinion on this app, but I’m impatient so... yeah the subscription annoys me a lot because I just want to play the guitar since my family doesn’t really think I can do it. They obviously wouldn’t pay for a subscription for me either. So I only would get one lesson a day. Which really frustrates me because sometimes I get super bored and playing the guitar is really the only thing to do. It also reads my notes and chords wrong. I play on the first fret, (like I’m supposed to) and it marks it red. It also frustrates me that they don’t give you that much motivation to play if you don’t have the subscription. It’s like “if you don’t hand over your wallet then you don’t get to play the guitar.” And it’s very annoying. Also, the Yousician “classic” songs aren’t very like able and they don’t have much variety. There’s country and that’s about it, because you have to pay money to listen and play actual good songs of course (I know it’s kind of petty of me lol) ok well that is my honest review of the free version of this app, thanks for your time!.Version: 4.22.0

HmmmmThey have hidden fees which is fine, but my problem was I had headphones on, didn’t have the guitar in hand just yet wanted to review the notes so I expected all the notes to go red as if I missed it, some were hit which is bothersome how accurate is it if that happens?? For a 169.99 I was hoping it would be way more accurate then that. Fender Play is another option..Version: 3.8.0

Great...butYousician has been really helpful in my guitar journey. I have learned a lot about the different ways to play and how to play most effectively, and sometimes it will give you a song to play as part of your lesson. Now I’m not a master guitar player, but sometimes it will tell me that I played the wrong note, when I clearly played the right one. My microphone is clearly exposed to the sound of my guitar and my guitar is fully in tune. I will pluck a string, and it will say that I got it wrong, even though I plucked the right string in the right fret. Worst of all, some lessons require you to get 100% completion on a song in order to move on and complete a skill, so sometimes I will find myself playing a song over and over and over for more time than I would like to spend perfecting every note of the song. Also, things like this can be really frustrating, I would know, and if you play a song without wearing headphones, the microphone will pick up what your speakers are spitting out and tell you that you’re wrong for every note until you wear headphones. It tells you before hand to “wear headphones for best experience” you basically have to wear headphones in order to use the app. And if you don’t have headphones with you, then you’re in quite a pickle. The app is great, but can get very frustrating..Version: 2.62.1

Rip off / Appalling Customer serviceI have trialed the guitar version of the App and decided I’ll subscribe. Somehow, I got subscribed to the most expensive premium plus package they offer that includes all the instruments and some extras while I was only interested in guitar. On the top of that I got charged for one year subscription all at once. While I recognize I must have confirmed all these option, you can tell the subscription process is already designed to mislead you into spending as much as possible. I have realized my mistake immediately after receiving confirmation email and turned to customer support to help me amend my subscription to the one I intended to get. CS rep would wave me away stating that since I have bought through apple platform there is nothing they can do which I find unacceptable. You own the product, you own the experience, you are responsible. There is no option to cancel/refund with Apple..Version: 3.9.0

DisappointingI thought this app would be great help to me as a beginner, but it was an overall let down. Something I liked was how the app personalized everything according to your music taste and learning speed. It definitely makes a learning experience more fun that way. However, not being able to do anything without payment was frustrating. Trying to self-teach and needing to pay for monthly memberships just isn’t ideal. If someone would like any recommendations to apps similar to this: Ultimateguitar. Seriously. I’m not advertising for them, but rather speaking from personal experience. Ultimateguitar does great at customizing based on music taste and learning pace as well. There are so many more songs on that platform, and although some features can be unlocked with a pro membership, it’s practically free access to songs you love! Don’t get me wrong, if you’re super into your instrument, and are willing to pay the price, Yousician is a great place! Many different song options, as well as the many online lessons they provide for you. This app is certainly unique, and if maybe I had the money, I would love it as much as some other people do. Kind regards..Version: 4.92.0

Very frustratingIf you use the free version then you get constant ads which are repetitive and annoying. I decided to pay the £25 per month (which is insane and more than a gym membership - there is a cheaper version of £16 or so but you don’t get songs with that just unlimited practice) but the app barely works. It’s great to play along to songs you know but even with the guitar tuned, the volume way up and the backing music way down it only picks up about half the notes. It’s especially bad for chords so I tend not to even bother with songs which include chords as they nearly always have a dead note or simply don’t register no matter how careful you are. This limits learning to single note string picking which isn’t ideal. Worth perhaps £0.99 per month but some crazy person has decided to jack the price up. I’ll be cancelling after the month ends..Version: 3.12.1

Free version is a good learning toolThe free version is a good learning tool with plenty of versatility to try different instruments or styles. You do have to put up with an ad every few minutes and there’s a limit to the amount of time you can use in one day, but for beginning or casual players it’s sufficient. The paid version, however, feels like a scam. The monthly version for $20 limits you to one instrument for ad free, unlimited playing. I paid for piano for my daughter and then she got interested in the ukulele =money wasted. The annual version allows you to switch between instruments theoretically, but only if you are willing to cough up $120 up front. Worse: it’s super easy to sign up for a subscription and impossible to cancel. Signing up happens with a click of a button on the app. However, to cancel one has to sign in to iTunes and cancel the subscription. However, after attempting to do this multiple times, Yousician is still trying to charge my debit card every day. The only reason for the 3 stars is the free version. The paid version gets 1 or less! Update: customer service assured me that account had been cancelled; however, a new gift card entered in iTunes was immediately charged. It appears that we paid $20 for the ‘privilege’ of canceling the service. Funds are not refunded when you cancel. This is completely unethical business practice. Too bad because the app concept is good..Version: 2.49.1

Don’t buy unless you’re rich! The free version totally sucks, you can only do lessons and songs for 10 minutes a day which is not nearly enough to actually learn anything and there’s no way I’m spending 200$ a year for premium. Unless you’re Mark Zuckerberg and can actually afford to pay $200 a year on a stupid app, I wouldn’t recommend it..Version: 4.21.1

AverageI thought this app was pretty good for guitar and for learning basics on bass it’s been okay. But there are many issues. First of all there’s literally NOTHING new added… Hallelujah has been on “recently added” since December and it’s now May. How you can justify the monthly fee for full access when there’s been zero song upgrades for 6 months is beyond me. Secondly, the timing! It’s really confusing when you know your timing is right and this app is wrong. It doesn’t line up with the original bass line (or the drums). The app doesn’t always recognise the notes, often this is the E string (particularly when open) when it can’t hear the dull tone. The only good thing is the Metallica bits which have obviously been developed with Metallica. Overall it’s ok to get you started but there’s not much song choice from recording artists, mostly it’s tracks from Yousician themselves..Version: 4.78.0

Enjoyable but needs some work.I’m having fun with the app but there are still a few glitches that frustrate me. About half or two thirds of the time the app does not register the chord I am playing when it is correct. I’ve tried lowering the volume and playing with headphones and find that neither works as well as it should. The payment option for premium is also a bit out of whack. Why is it a yearly subscription and not a monthly one if you can cancel any time? If it was monthly I may consider joining but that does not appear to be an option. It would also be better if the My Repertoire section was unlimited use. The lessons each day do not give anyone time enough to master before time is up..Version: 2.47.1

Very little chord practice for beginnersI agree that this is a remarkable app. And it is expensive with premium. There are two major problems with this app: There are a load of completely unknown original songs which come across as being rather meaningless. Who wants to learn a song that no one has heard of? Is this going to impress your mates? They will all say, ‘that is very nice, but what is it?’ The second problem is for beginners on levels 0 and 1 there are only riffs. No cowboy chords in any of the songs. Then level 2 has 11 songs with cowboy chords. Almost all completely unknown songs mainly by Yousician. Beginners want to practice their chords and have an app evaluate whether the chords are being played correctly. And they want to play popular songs that impress family and friends who will say that sounds like El Paso. At level 3 there are more songs with cowboy chords but again there is a load of Yousician original songs. The selection by level does not work for me. There seems to be no middle ground. It either goes from playing 5 notes on 3 strings for the whole song as a riff. So very simple , insultingly so . Or when playing chords completely unknown songs. And then level 4 is off the chart as being too difficult..Version: 4.29.0

Record notes properly!I use this app to practice my guitar skills, all my actually learning is with JustinGuitar (which I recommend immensely). Firstly, the song choice is limited to trashy pop and Yousician’s original songs. Secondly, it won’t record my notes properly, leaving me frustrated. Especially in the song Birds of Steel, when I pluck the string on Fret 3, the app acts like it hears nothing. The app is riddled with ads and wants you to pay to learn guitar. I already learned 1,000 something to get the guitar, should I really have to pay more? I recommend JustinGuitar if you actually want to learn anything. However the gamification of it is nice I supposed and it has good song choice and variety for premium users. So I’ll give it about 2/10 stars..Version: 4.21.1

I Got annoyed in 5 minsDon’t get this this is a full review of how annoying and it wastes ur money don’t bother....(story time ) It was a Normal day skip the boring part I finally decided to download this app....I did the basic stuff then I Tried to sing it’s so confusing how to find the songs and the people keep saying get out free trial and sing and warm up it did the warm up thing non stop and not to mention the songs for not p+ were terrible at least get some popular songs on there I preferred the singing app smule more apart from all of that it was intimidating And stupid no offence to the creator of this terrible horrendous app if u like if ur opinion but on me I suggest u don’t download this app all of u enjoy ur Day and don’t waste ur time on this app check it out if u want I’m not ur ruler on anything bye hope u enjoy ur morning evening night bye! Xoxo xoxo.Version: 3.15.0

Won’t pick up on soundsWon’t pick up on my high e chord and refuses to hear it.Version: 3.15.0

Free version very limited, premium very $$$The app now limits free users to 10 minutes a day and that comes with four strident ads about upgrading. I don't even know what currency they mean in their ads - is it in US$ because if so it's even more expensive than I'm guessing. I don't mind paying something for content but there is no option for people on low incomes. How about some plans where you can buy hours on the app like a phone plan? Then you could buy a few hours here and there when you could afford it. All this time limiting and strident ads are making this app less and less appealing. Plus a lot of the free content is quite dull - not enough instructional videos and confusing songs without clear beats to play along to - and I don't know if it's less dull for the premium version. If they can't get the free content right then it's not a great ad for the app. I'd try the free month but I'm scared they would charge me before I'd managed to cancel and I don't have the money..Version: 3.22.0

Great app but doesn't workI have just downloaded yousician ad few days ago and it worked fine but the next day when i try to open it it wouldn't work. Like it would open and load but then it would shut automatically. Please fix.Version: 4.7.0

It sucksYou basically can’t play any song unless you pay.Version: 4.11.3

Need yousican premium to do anythingI was super excited to use this app and it was great for the first 2 lessons but after that I couldn’t access anything without paying. I don’t have the funds to pay for this which is why I’m no taking in person lessons. Great app if you can pay but if not you can’t do much://.Version: 4.83.0

I’ve loved this app easy and help meThis app is great for new players who are trying to get into playing guitar but I’ve been having a problem with this app when it wants me to tune my guitar it’s saying I’m hitting the wrong string even though I’m not so either update this app to fix it or do something else it’s really annoying.Version: 4.58.0

It’s is brokenI am stuck on the frets and if I play the 5 string it says it’s the 6string this app is terrible.Version: 4.10.1

Yeah Ok27 bucks a month yeah right maybe a one time payment! Way over priced for a rip off of Rocksmith.Version: 3.15.0

Big issuesFirstly, unless you’ve not played Guitar Hero and tried to learn real guitar instead - you’ll struggle! The exercises are very frustrating for a beginner. It doesn’t show you in advance what the exercises involve and just throws you in the deep end - while you’re still trying to remember which numbers refer to what frets and string numbers. There is no training in trying to develop muscle memory. You stare at the screen and the music goes so fast you feel like you’re making no progress with your playing. There is practice mode of course, but that’s secondary to actually doing the exercise in the menu itself. I’m now half way through the learning material and still haven’t come across any exercises for string picking. So I’m constantly getting the wrong string in an attempt to get the right fret. The app layout is nice though and it’s fun and colourful. But so far it’s not the best place to learn without getting really agitated and possibly put off guitar forever as simple things are made to seem difficult when you play the exercises..Version: 4.48.0

Too costlyThis app might be good but only when they let me explore it which they don’t, they just keep asking for hundreds of dollars.Version: 4.19.0

Good intentions but bad app!I know the guitar basics like frets picks how to hold it and that. Well the app assumes the basics include all the chords! Ok so I deleted it and chose that I knew nothing. While I was learning the basics this seemed like a very good app. I was about to write a great review about it. Around the first song I realized I was playing the write note but it said I was wrong. Sometimes I was but rarely. The times I was wrong I was around a fret off. Well according to the app I was four strings off. If you play guitar you know how diffract Hi E and low E sound so I don’t know how the app mixed those two up. So every time you finish a song it gives you a ad for the premium version of this game. It’s fine to advertise on your app but after every single thing you do is far past the breaking point! You also get only 10 minutes without premium! Imagine a guitar instructor comes to your house only for ten minutes a day. And like 24 hour day not just comes at 8 on day and 5 on the other. No it’s either 24 hours or more! Remember this is just constructive criticism. Please don’t get offended by this. Here is some advice to make the app better. First only focus on one instrument. You do a mediocre job on around 6 instruments. If you just teach one instrument then it’s mediocre X 6 which would make an amazing emphasis on amazing app so please follow my advice and again this is just constructive criticism so please don’t get offended😊.Version: 3.9.0

EhhhWhen I was trying to tune my second string on my guitar it kept saying it was one or three.Version: 4.13.1

Interesting app, horrible for experienced guitaristThe app concept is great don’t get me wrong, but the fact I have to go through all the basic training of “how to change frets” or “how to play strings” as an experienced guitarist is super frustrating. Not to mention the app doesn’t even pick up notes played most of the time so it’s either you “miss” them or play the note multiple times so that it actually registers.Version: 4.92.0

Make subscription weekly/monthlyLove the app but need to be able to pay weekly or monthly! You’re losing thousands of potential buyers because no one wants to pay 230$ straight off the bat for one app..Version: 4.24.0

OkayI believe your app would be much better if you offered more actual tips and lessons. You market it to complete beginners and most beginners need more support than what you offer. Also, there is a huge jump between level 3 and level 4 on the ukulele. The songs go from short and easy to long and difficult in one level and I feel like it would be nicer if you built up to it more..Version: 2.53.0

Its quite frustratingI like this app. i think its good to teach you things for someone like me: a complete beginner. its good for that and it gives you decent stuff for free. however, it is really annoying when i’m practicing a song given to me because i can’t play any song i want due to premium and the app won’t pick up the notes i’m playing. i don’t know if this is a bug that can be fixed with an update or if its my phone or guitar but it was so frustrating when my phone was close enough to hear and i was strumming the string loud enough, but for some reason it will say i’ve missed a note in the song. i’ve only gone on this app a few times but every time it has done this, and therefore made me want to go on a different one. i recommend SimplyGuitar for anyone wanting to learn guitar. also, the constant reminder that i’m not on premium whenever i click to be retaught a lesson is irritating. and is the limited time for each day..Version: 4.6.0

Great but too technicalReally great app for beginners. I started a one month subscription and so far I learned a lot and it is truly interactive! But after a month I lost interest as there was not much content and a lot of the songs were not mainstream. I just hope this app will bring in more content and more famous songs like metallica, nirvana, kiss, etc. I felt the exercises were becoming too technical and mechanical rather than bring excitement and inspiration. I ended up just following the tabs and lessons and not ‘feeling’ the songs. Oh well…i was just disappointed..but the idea of the app really is great.Version: 4.37.0

Stupid appI can just play 4 songs and it cost too much just for that Don’t download this dump app😤.Version: 4.73.0

Cost 160-250$ per yearYou won’t have a free trial unless you subscribe to a plan from 160$ to 250$ per year. I never found a way to just try it without subscription..Version: 3.23.0

Don’tI got worse than i was. It’s way to much money for an app that didn’t seem to be working nor helping me. Overall i had high expectations but this app just sucked. Your better off with a real music teacher.Version: 3.15.0

Annoying bug keeps me from playingWhen I first got yousician, I thought it was an amazing app and I learned how to play real fast, well in my perspective at least. Anyhow, I like being on call with people and I used to stay on call while playing in yousician, but one day an update stopped that. Basically now, anytime I try selecting a song or tuning my guitar, it says “please select an audio output” so I pick one of the following, after that it tells me that it failed. I’ve tried most of everything I could. In the end, im not able to use the app when on call, I have to end the call to play and I don’t like that. Other than this, everything is fair and amazing. I just can’t use the app as much and no longer plan on buying premium, why would I if I don’t use the app often. If I find a way around this, if it fixes, or something that allows me to use the app while on a call, I’ll gladly change my review. (Edit after response) -already contacted support after putting up this review, sadly enough after they looked into it, they said the mic won’t work with the call on, and they recommended me use the app after I’m off call... I wouldn’t be here if it was just as simple as me ending the call..Version: 2.57.0

Good, but a bit of a cash grabIt really helped me learn guitar, but I could only use it for 15 minutes before it wouldn’t let me play any songs for 12 hours and it would keep trying to get me to buy premium.Version: 2.59.0

Note troublesEverything was good but then I was messing around with my tuning thingy and now it won't recognize my high E..Version: 4.12.2

It’s annoying and stupid but could be greatIt’s would be a great app if u were willing to pay 250 a year but other wise I don’t like it all the songs I want to learn are premium and all the ones that are free r just some stupid song I’ve never heard in my life. I understand that people have to make money off the the app but if u could just make some more good songs free i would give it 4 stars.Version: 3.2.0

So good it’s upsettingAlright. This app is very good. It really does help you learn and become a better musician. So why did I rate this app 4 stars? I rated it a four because it’s only good for awhile. The first couple lessons are amazing bc you learn quickly and you through them quickly letting you get more lessons in your ten minute lesson times. (If you don’t have premium.) They kinda scam you a little bit. •They make the lessons easier at first •then they make them harder •then you can’t get through as many in the ten minute period •then you feel like you have to get sucked into the premium plan. But you don’t want too bc it costs a lot. It’s a really frustrating endless cycle. Regular guitar lessons can be stressful and cost more than what the premium plan would cost you. But the premium plan still adds up. But then you do another lesson and it seems like they’re just trying to challenge you because then you take a “skill test”. So what I’m saying is after awhile when the lessons get hard enough, they might not give you enough time to get through one lesson, and it makes you want to get premium. Which I understand it’s a marketing thing thats obviously working. So give your marketing person a raise, and lower your premium costs. Because this app is really good..Version: 4.3.0

Ripped OffWas having a great time using the Yousician app to learn the bass. I decided it was worth paying for about 6 months ago this year and upgraded to premium for 12 months. This gave me access to ALL of the app features. Unlimited lesson time and access to “World famous” songs by Green day, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Sting and 21 Pilots(just to name a few). The developers of the app ran into copyright issues and were no longer able to use “World famous” songs and songs from bands above were removed. My interest in the app definitely decreased a lot. Because of the copyright issues the developers have re-modelled this app and managed to get the rights to some “World famous songs” again(a handful). Due to this they expect me to pay(AGAIN) to upgrade to premium despite the fact I was ALREADY on a premium service with FULL access. Instead of working something out have been told to get a refund from the iStore. Definitely about to lose a customer forever. You can’t replace a real teacher at any rate and I’m happy to print out tab and play along to YouTube(Will cost me nothing). Very disappointed..Version: 2.59.0

Free trial cost me $100....Cancelled my free trial before the end date, charged for 3 months anyway. Apple won’t refund my money as cancelling before end date isn’t a good enough reason for a refund.... Thanks for stealing my money!.Version: 3.23.0

Can’t teach sheet music and is not worth it.I wanted to learn how to play ukulele. I was hoping I would be able to learn how to read sheet music but it only show you what chord you should play like the letter number. So if the app wanted me to play a C chord then it would just say “C.” And the it shows how to play tablature just makes me mad because tablature is one of the easiest things to read in music. I have seen other apps that teach you music that teach you how to read real sheet music. Also if you don’t get the premium version of this app then you only get 10 minutes each day on this app and you can play what the lessons tell you to play. I feel like it would be so much more worth it to just get private lessons from a professional teacher to learn how to read sheet music and paying more than getting the premium version of this app and it would be even more worth it to get lessons than to just get the normal version of this app..Version: 4.5.1

Worst game everWhy dose every game I try to learn to play songs cause it says learn you favourite songs for free you have to pay for a membership I don’t recommend for someone who can’t afford it like me.Version: 3.23.0

SCAM APPI cancelled my subscription the same day I subscribed with a free trial (app wasn’t what I wanted). A few days later they tried to charge my account $179, twice! I got a call from my banks scam department (thank god) who informed me they had blocked two attempts that this app tried to make to charge me. I had to cancel my card & order a new one! My bank told me this app is on their scam/untrusted list, which is what alerted them to block the attempted charges, and notify me. This is not a trusted app, my bank told me they are very sneaky and will try to “get you” any way they can, even after you’ve cancelled your subscription within the proper time frame. You’ve been warned. Don’t download this app..Version: 4.77.0

Déception totaleCette application est vraiment nulle sérieusement je suis vraiment déçue.Version: 3.19.1

No, just no!So I first found this app, decided to download it, then started the trial for piano. After a while, I decided to get a 1 year subscription, then I was too busy for this app anymore thinking I’ll get to it when I had time. So one day I did. I opened the app ready to start playing and then the starter screen when you first download the app was there! I was furious. But my hopes weren’t down enough to stop using it. I thought “maybe I’ll just start the trial again..won’t be that bad!” Then I entered my email and it said “this email is already taken. That was it for me! I just wanted to smash my iPad into pieces! I wasted my money, time and EFFORT! Whoever’s looking forward to downloading this, I suggest you now to..Version: 3.12.1

Not worth it for bass playingI really enjoyed this app to start with while initially learning the bass. It’s ok for an arcade-style where you play what it tells you, but despite the promise when signing up of new songs each week, I’ve seen maybe two or three songs in the 9 months I’ve been a member. This is really poor and shows the focus the team have on the guitar without really catering for the bass. The lessons are also seriously below the quality they provide for guitar players and the tab-based playing really doesn’t help to actually learn to play, so you might find yourself forced to have the app infront of you whenever you want to play, as they do very little to help with keys, chords and general music theory on the bass pathway. If you’re a bass player, I’d advise you choose a different app, or one of the web courses like Scott’s Bass Lessons. That’s my new go-to after being so disappointed with Yousician..Version: 4.83.0

WorstWorst app ever! It says it’s free every day! You only get ten minutes a day! You have to pay tones of money for the real thing! Do not get this dumb app..Version: 4.21.1

What once was a great app is now ruinedI’ve virtually never written a review in my life but I felt compelled to in this situation considering how much I used to love this app. I downloaded Yousician over a year ago and was initially blown away. I used to take guitar lessons when I was much younger and the app made it so easy to pick it back up again. Lessons used to be guided with videos and your progression in technique was mapped out in a diagram that outlined what had been completed and what was yet to come. There were several other competitor apps that I considered but what really set Yousician apart was the community of shared and user created content. With recent updates to the app they’ve removed user created content wiping out 90% of their artist and song catalogue. (For those of you who don’t understand the significance of this, user created content enabled you to find virtually any song you were looking for.) After reading that “popular” songs were reserved for premium+ subscribers I upgraded only to be disappointed, again, at the lack of content. For any new users reading who have signed up since July/August, this app used to offer so much more without having to trick people into paying more for less. And what an absolute shame, it really used to be great..Version: 2.62.1

Good App, Just A Couple ProblemsThis is a really good app, especially for beginners but there is a couple problems, the first one is that there isn’t a baritone option when my you click ukulele, this isn't the best because baritone ukuleles are tuned differently to the other three types so when i try to play it doesn’t work, also, could you up the time from 30 minutes a day to maybe and hour? could you also make it so there’s more song available to learn? i know it’s supposed to make people buy the premium but it’s not the best when beginners are just starting to play and are limited with a certain amount of time and songs.Version: 4.34.0

It’s easy but...It easy but I think it gets to hard after like two lessons and I think that its kinda annoying on the first lesson where it doesn’t care to you when your wrong and and with the singing one, forget it it listens to whatever I say and it’s so hard on the first lesson and with the ukulele & piano are so hard, the piano, the first lesson it was simple, second, simple, but the third sheesh it was so hard and it doesn’t correct you at all and it makes you feel bad when you mess up ONE TIME it like fails you half the thing which is annoying and it’s kinda un fair for the people who don’t wanna play because you don’t complete all the lessons because the last one is premium and it’s a song so you have to skip it and then when you do pay you have to pay a lot because you can just pay for one this and with the ukulele I think that it’s hard on the first and second song, yes the song, so I feel like it’s a little to hard because like, it’s a song are you barely know and even worse when you mess up it doesn’t correct you it just takes away a star with is really frustrating and I’m not trying to be a Karen over here I’m just saying my opinion *reads* ok I sound like a Karen but still... I just think it’s just hard to fast. And that’s my review... (but I still use the app:).Version: 4.35.0

StupidIt doesn’t really teach you notes which is what I am trying to learn it’s more about riffs and that which is stupid it should focus on the notes more cuz without notes there wouldn’t be music.Version: 4.19.0

Great app but premium is expensiveIt’s a good app to learn to play a instrument, the lessons go at a pace anyone could follow. If you can already play an instrument you will find the lessons to slow. The only reasons I didn’t give the app 5 stars is because premium is so expensive. It costs about twice as much as a Netflix subscription. Also the free version is very restrictive and the app constantly bugs you to upgrade, on the free version you can only practice for about 10 minutes a day. Having said that a lot of work has gone into the app, so if you are serious about learning a new instrument quickly, premium might be worth it for you..Version: 2.62.1

It’s okay.I got this app because my father got me a guitar about 4 years ago and for some odd reason I didn’t play it. My father passed away in 2020 due to multiple reasons and I told myself that I was going to learn guitar no matter what. I started playing with this app and overall it was really nice! Though I was a bit sad because of the free trial, you see I don’t have a lot of money and to be completely honest my mother wouldn’t want to spend money on a guitar app. So sadly I can’t play anymore? I’m confused. Do you have to pay money to get more lessons? There’s many questions I have. Of course I don’t dislike the app and I find it great for learning, but it’s a bit difficult when the app asks for a free trial to continue. Don’t get me wrong this is a great learning app but also a little tip is maybe to make it so it hears the guitar more :). Though I love the app it’s personally a bit difficult. Maybe add ads Instead of a free trial but then again I know you have to make money. That makes sense. I just wish that you can continue without the free trial. Feel free to respond to me, I would love to learn guitar :), Thanks!.Version: 4.50.0

Effective if flawedIt works well for motivating and is definitely one of the most useful practice tools I’ve seen. All in all a great tool well worth giving a shot. It does have some ISSUES: It doesn’t penalise for the addition of incorrect extra notes like when you hit an extra note in piano or fail to mute a string on guitar The built in lesson sometimes gives you overly basic material particularly in the explore section Early piano course is too slow having never played a piano before I was getting perfect scores every time until it made me do 4 skill level tests You don’t really learn any songs from this as odd as it sounds. The fact it gives you the music in a written form allows you to forget it afterward MAJOR FUNCTIONALITY ISSUES: In the “practice” mode the app often becomes too slow to function lagging causing you to miss notes unfairly. Occasionally a lag spike will also cause the app to give you a mark for a section before you want it and if on that sub section you were doing well the “auto” setting for speed will accelerate the piece POSITIVES: Gamification is effective and not too pandering Layout is simple and intuitive allowing ease of learning Reminders everyday help motivate Slow building on what you’ve learned builds confidence well keeping you in a work zone throughout. The practice mode doesn’t remove notes to make it easier like some similar things do meaning there is no confusion as the tempo picks up.Version: 3.9.0

Unbelievably dishonestAt first, Yousician was great. Easy to use, fun, and with great community. The yearly sub for one instrument was pricey ($150 CAD), but I committed to using it daily to get the value. However, once the company realized the most popular feature was the user created content, they removed all of it under the auspices of some “new features” they wanted to implement. Turns out this was their own version of the same content, and now requires a “Premium+” membership to use. And that is another $100. Truly unbelievable. I would strongly encourage all current users to write reviews and rate accordingly, and anyone thinking of getting Yousician to avoid it like the plague. Sad to see such a promising app get killed by a company trying to screw people over..Version: 2.59.0

Great for kids 6 - 19 but too many adsThis app is great for me and I’m a ten year old girl! The only thing that bugs me is the ad to get the premium + version keeps popping up which is really annoying. Please consider only putting this ad up twice at the most. Thanks🦄❤️🦄🦄❤️❤️🤞.Version: 3.20.1

Only for absolute beginners who want to waste their timeSo I’m a pretty good guitar player and I just wanted to learn something new so I got this app. After logging in, I was immediately bombarded with ’buy premium’ adds. I ignored it. I got into some lessons(they turned out to be really easy but that is to be expected as I only just got the app) but after about 10 minutes of learning nothing, I get told I have to pay to continue learning. I get a bit annoyed now. I leave the learn section, thinking that that is the only thing I am not currently able to use but it turns out that I can’t use anything!!! Anyway, for the money you would pay for premium on this stupid app, you could get a real person to teach you. Not only would this be better money wise, but also you would learn more and have direct feedback from your teacher. To conclude, this app was a complete waste of time and has also ruined my mood. Hopefully I can get a better app than this (which won’t be hard) and learn something cool..Version: 3.23.0

Disappointed in DirectionI downloaded this app a few years back to learn ukulele and I loved it! There were all sorts of songs available to learn, and although lesson times were limited with the free version, it wasn’t too bad. They eventually made popular songs part of the paid version, which I didn’t mind too much because I could still learn the basics. I recently redownloaded the app to get back into the swing of playing, but I don’t think I had an account before, so I made a new one and I’m incredibly disappointed to see that now anything beyond level 1 appears to be locked. I understand this is a buissness decision but it’s incredibly frustrating to know an app I loved and was able to use for free with only certain aspects locked has decided to make the whole app basically unusable without paying. I can’t even do challenges anymore! I’m still rating three stars because from what I remember the app is a great learning tool, but I can’t help but be dissapointed in the direction the creators have chosen to take this app in..Version: 4.43.1

TERRIBLE APPTerrible when I click on the how to play video it just loads I’m at an area with really good wifi and it just doesn’t let me watch the video. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND..Version: 4.18.0

Don't bother. This app is extremely stressful, because no matter what you do, it never correctly hears your instrument. You get just a few notes wrong, then the colour of the screen goes red and the music slows down, basically making you fail. After that you get kicked off of the song. I'm sure that in some songs they have designed it to give you a wrong note. Then there's how much it costs. To play for longer than fifteen minutes you have to pay enormous sums of money, then to play some songs you have to pay even more! It seems as well that they have taken songs and redone them themselves in order to avoid copyright issues, which in my opinion is just plain stealing. This app is a bad joke. - In case your thinking it, it's not the case that I can't play my instrument and now I'm sending angry reports. I have got to level seven now, so, while I am in no way a professional player, I know my way around my guitar. Also you need to think about how the app helps you progress, in that it doesn't. In the beginning, the songs are easy, and slowly get harder. Later on however, there are significant jumps in difficulty. This is extremely frustrating and makes you feel like a bad player and giving up. If you're wondering wether to get the app or not, here's the solution; walk away and don't turn back. There are plenty of helpful tutorials online, if you're looking for songs to play, Guitar tabs is an excellent app. Thank you for your time..Version: 4.5.1

DisappointedSigned up for the free version. Started learning an was hit with two ads in about 5 minutes time trying to sell me the $199.99 subscription. Nothing free about this. Probably would have signed on if they had been less pushy and offered more an intro. It does look like a promising app. Also not signing up for that free month. I know how hard it can be to get those cancelled..Version: 4.21.1

Beware the upgrade button in the cornerI was happily enjoying the free version of the app and thought there was no harm in trying the two week trial of the premium version....two days into the app my eye was drawn to the upgrade button in the corner which looked like it had a message (a number much like when you get a message on any other app) - I clicked it (thinking perhaps info on payment options) and unfortunately this meant my free trial ended and ITunes billed me for £99......I was confused and have argued but neither developer or iTunes will refund. No monthly option was offered despite the ads saying about a monthly option. A shame as overall a good app although sometimes I wonder about its accuracy. Definitely not worth the £99 if like me you don’t have free time everyday - so DO NOT CLICK that button I think it has been designed to be misleading. Shame on you Yousician and Apple......Version: 2.35.1

Stole my money!!I canceled my three month subscription after it renewed and so it was still good until feb 21.2021. When I loaded the app it gave me a offer to renew a full year at a discounted price. Saying it wouldn’t charge my card until my current three month subscription ran out. Please fix note system!!!I am having a good time with the app but the way it wants you to play a note at a specific time is irritating. The app has the notes of a song laid out on your phone and a circular ball bounce up and down for when your supposed to hit a certain note. The circular ball arcs through the air between notes, this can be a relatively small arc if the next note is immediate signifying you need to play quickly or it could be a very long arc if there is a gap between notes. So if it was D on the third threat you would see the ball land on the appropriate note with the fret position marked on it. However rather than you playing the note when the ball lands on the right note which would make sense the app will say you have missed the note and it will turn red. What is annoying is it it tells you what the next note coming is will be but basically leaves a lot to guess play for when you should hit it for example the app will tell you you have hit a ‘perfect’ timed note but the ball will be midway flying through the air or it will tell you you have missed a note even if the ball hits a couple of nanoseconds after The app is fine on the easier tracks in the beginning but the further it goes on the more frustrating it gets trying to figure out when to play the note and when to wait longer..Version: 4.7.1

Not The BestOkay so I'm not the kind of person who likes to give bad reviews but this one just is not the best app. When you play the chords with a song you don't even need to play a chord just strum and it says it's correct like how is that teaching anything😕 Other than that I guess everything else is okay.....Version: 2.62.1

Fun app to startAs a beginner guitarist I used the free time lessons to see if I would enjoy it. Well I did! However after signing up for 2 x 3 mths I was finding I was playing the same tunes over and over with not a lot of new songs being added, so of course boredom set in, my family were sick of hearing the same stuff so I unsubscribed. I have learnt a lot and improved out of sight but I seem to be stuck somewhere between level 4 and 5 with not a lot of music choice I enjoy. So I have moved on to another site which is a also a lot easier on my pocket, hoping to gain skills on a wider range of songs to get me moving to a higher level of competence. Thanks Yousician for your input. If you could manage to get access to newer playlists and keep adding songs more often that would suit my level I would definitely consider returning..Version: 3.23.0

Not worth your timeThey say it’s free it’s not you have to pay if you want to learn more about playing the guitar. Also it’s not cheap 40.00 a mounts you can go on YouTube for Free and learn..Version: 4.21.1

What Happened? When I first started with Yousician, I loved it! I could play my favourite song with the community option (where people and you can play your favourite music by searching for a song, if it wasn’t on there you could search for it and Yousician would display option whether rhythm or lead at an easy or hard level). It was intelligent but then, that feature went. People were angry that you couldn’t play your favourite music anymore, but I kept positive and thought they will find the error in their ways. But today I found Yousician Premium + Where you had to pay to play your favourite songs. This was there last straw! And now I wonder what happened? What happened to the place where I could learn my favourite songs for free? What happened to not paying for your progress? Yousician is not the place that it used to be..Version: 2.54.1

Steals your moneyCancelled my free trial but charge me anyways. Took $199 on my card and when i was trying to use the app it doesn’t work as I expected to. Very disappointing..Version: 4.20.1
