✓ What's the problem, guysI don't get the animosity people are having. This is supposed to do one thing, and I think it does a great job. Without more than 30 seconds of setup and tweaking, it was making my lights match the screen hue quickly and accurately. It has one job, and it does it well..Version: 1.1

✓ Temporarily brilliant - UPDATED!Downloaded and launched the app, and allowing that it switched on all 40-something of my lights (be nice to have to select what I want rather than what I don't) it was absolutely spectacular. Set up an iPod in a little tripod aimed at the tv and it was simply fantastic. Tried the same the following evening and it refused to find the bridge or select any lights (all were deselected). Finally uninstalled and reinstalled - going through the deactivating lamps routine - and again aa perfect performance. Three days later and the same problem again. Zero response from the developer so I'm going to ask for my money back. The app is absolutely fantastic when it works, be the deinstall/install debacle is too tiresome. A real shame as it is brilliant! :( UPDATE: Despite zero feedback from the developer I figured this out. A new group has been added to my iHue groups that must be switched on to make the camera app work. All sorted and working perfectly and upgraded to 5 stars. If you have Hue, this app is a MUST!.Version: 1.0
✓ Super cleverThis is really worth giving a go but bear in mind that movies with scenes that have short sequences where colours can change quickly are a little problematic. A fair bit of lag can build up causing the lamps to change colour rapidly and fall out of sync with what is displayed on-screen. I suspect this is down either to the hue bridge and colour transition time, or the phone itself being slow to interpret and process the images from the camera and send the colour change instructions to the bridge. Other than that it's a really neat app and works well..Version: 1.2
✓ Works great, great for filmsI have been looking for an app to do this for a while on iOS. Have tried other apps on the computer, but they suffered from a bad lag. I was skeptical at first, but greatly surprised at how good it work. Works great if you have one of the hue led light strips around your tv. This is what I use mine with. Work great when watching films. Setup was a breeze. Simply connect to the bridge and select which bulbs to control. Simple..Version: 1.0

✓ Works goodYes, there is a slight delay due to connectivity, but that is not an issue with the app. Set it to "smooth transitions" and "normal" color intensity to minimize distraction. Well worth $4 to use Hue with any/all video. Uses a lot of battery and the phone gets pretty warm. Plug er in, find an easel to prop the phone and it works well. I use an old iphone4 that has no cell service but is connected connected to WiFi.Version: 1.0
✓ Camera orientation now brokePlease switch back to the camera orientation in the previous version. I would use this with my iPad Air 2 upside down so I could charge and sync my lights with my tv at the same time. Now when I place the iPad upside down the camera flips to an upside down mode instead of correcting and flipping the screen correctly. It's not possible for me to charge and use this app at the same time now. I do love the new options for light dimming/brightness and if you fix the screen orientation this app will be perfect again. ✓ Nice tech needs a little more...I have my entire home integrated with some sort of Home Automation, Philips Hue being the center of the Entertainment TOM as well as the living room. It has a hard time while watching 3D movies on my set in the living room. Reading other reviews I concur with the '... could use microphone in conjunction...' like other apps like 'DISCO' or 'SYNC MY LIGHTS'. I'd pay a little more for advanced controls like the ones in the apps listed above. It's a little hard for a phone to get the entire screen into the camera without getting some of the hue lights in it as well. Trying to get the camera lined up with the TV is a little cumbersome but that's not the apps fault, it's a wet ware problem. This app gets great reviews from CNET as well as some other highly respected consumer sites. I agree! Again if somehow you could integrate the use of the microphone and maybe a list of movies that have already been SYNC'd so that we [the consumer] could pick the movie on a list and begin there as well... again I would pay extra as well as many a friend would too. Keep up the updates and maybe a beta test app would be great as well. 🤘🏻as well as a 👍🏻..Version: 1.2
✓ Superb!Don’t often write reviews. But this is a fantastic little app. Unlocks a whole new element to your Hue system. Really comes into its own when used with light strip round the back edge of your tv, we use this along with 4 uplighters in each corner of the room. Can be a little ineffective if you’re watching a movie, however when watching natural history stuff like blue planet/planet earth it’s absolutely superb. As is watching any live gig. ✓ Does a great jobI only used this with one rear light to provide the 'environment', because I don't want anything flashing in front of me. The app has a simple interface with a minimal amount of controls, which is a good thing. It's responsive, seems quite good/accurate on the colours it chooses, and can be quite subtle, so it's not distracting. It is almost perfectly natural (do I actually have any lights on?). I have six lights in the room with the TV, and it would be good if I could configure them spatially just like the official Hue Sync. ✓ Excellent Addition to my Hue AppsFantastic little app, essentially a much cheaper alternative to buying an Ambilight TV! The iPhone can get a little warm during long periods of use, not sure if it's the camera being used or the fact the screen is always on. Although I can dim my screen brightness, wondering whether a 'screen-saver' mode would be useful, where you can set a timer to blank or dim the screen automatically. BTW: D0cpep reviewer said it would be good if the app could zoom, it can if you pinch zoom the screen..Version: 1.0

I came to write this review specifically to ask for this option, wanting to dim the lights manually. ✓ Great app...I hope it keeps developing!I’ve been looking for something like this. Yes you have to point a camera at the screen, how else would one expect to control dynamics. Future features and light fixes would be great. 1. Default settings should be no lights, not everyone. My whole house light up when it synced with the bridge..very minor. 2. Could it work with the new HUE entertainment zones? So if I set up a entertainment zone with four lights, two on the left and two on the right. The lights would change according using left and right sides, based on the picture. 3. Would be nice to cap the intensity of individual lights. The lights behind the tv are awesome the way you have it. But other lights in the room would be nice to cap at different intensity level, making them a lot more subtle and less bright. ✓ Great app but....This app works as described, however what the description fails to say is that you have to keep your device open and the app running the entire time. It's great but drains your battery especially if your watching a 2 hour movie. As far as the app itself, I did not experience any delay. I hope the developer will read this review because I do have an idea that I think would work in conjunction with this app. Make a "web cam" specially designed for use only with this app that connects to the hue bridge via wifi and plugs into an outlet for power. ✓ Works as advertisedThe zoom feature is nice and is missing in the other Ambilight type app, but sadly I don't think any of these light syncing apps will be a staple in my TV watching. The wifi delay between what happens on screen and when the lights actually change kills the immersion, and worse, the app doesn't work when you lock the screen. I'm surprised nobody mentioned it, who wants to watch a movie with their bright phone propped on the coffee table in front of them, and no, lowering the screen brightness isn't a good enough solution. To the developers, making the app access the mic seems to allow background activity when your screen is locked in other Hue apps I use..Version: 1.0
