New update made camera useless.UPDATE (March 25, 2021): I emailed Blink customer service as the Developer’s Response requested. Blink replied back to that email with (exact quote, word for word): “In case you can't update your iOS to a newer version (some Apple devices are limited by the manufacturer), I am afraid that your only option is to purchase newer device, which can carry ios 12.5 or higher.” So that is their only solution, for me to buy a new iPhone. I foresee a class action lawsuit against Blink on the horizon. So my advice is DO NOT BUY BLINK CAMERAS. Blink does not support their existing customers or stand behind their products. I’ve owned this camera for only 5 months, now it’s a brick unless I shell out $600 for a new iPhone. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! ORIGINAL POST: Worked fine till they updated the app in early March 2021. To view the camera I now must update to a newer version of the app that my phone cannot download because of its older IOS software. Why don’t you allow older iphones the abilty to continue to use the older version of the app. It worked before, now it doesn’t. Now the camera is useless. Cannot connect at allI purchased this mini device to watch over my family but it didn’t work at all it wouldn’t connect to my WiFi i talked to a person they sent me out a new device which i knew wasn’t going to be the problem solver i connect the new device an still no connection to my internet i have high speed 350mbp speed connection there is no. Reason for this small device to not find or connect to my WiFi ready for the best part... it only connects to personal hotspot i cannot have this run on a personal hotspot all day an night long this is absolutely ridiculous i can’t explain how disappointed i am in blink an the company i relyed on it to protect my family from people harming us an catching every thing i need on footage wind up is i cannot even get it to get a Live Photo notbing the team can do at this point to change my mind no replacement no help u just lost a good review an a. TerribleThis is the worst camera system ever, Completely unusable once your free trial ends. The app is slow and buggy and the cameras miss everything that you want to see, the camera design is awful, on a wet windy day water always gets on the camera lenses and completely obscures the image, also the two year battery life is only a month if you are lucky. There is such a delay on and connecting to the live view that you can’t possibly talk to someone at the door bell, And notifications for movement are often delayed by over a minute. Do not buy this system it is a complete waste of money. I am extremely disappointed.Version: 6.24.2

It’s a big NO FROM MEWhat a waste of time and money . I had much higher expectations when I purchased 2 wireless & a wired mini one…. . I wish I didn’t and I wish I had gone through other ppl reviews before buying . The connectivity it’s something you need to adress at least 4/5 times a day and to add more insult to the jury , when you need a clip .. we’ll. It recorded as the system was disarmed due to connectivity issue , clips gets recorded in a odd way filling up storage that last up to 1 day if you lucky and isn’t of course free but it comes with a monthly subscription .whoever designed the app God knows what he was thinking , even the options to receive a notification when there’s a motion in the covered area .. well that stop the recording . How convenient is that ? Bought a cheap camera from the corner shop and it works so much better and it’s way more reliable than this really expensive useless piece of plastic called blink camera. Sorry but that’s what it is . P.s. 2 years batteries it’s based on a camera that records 5 seconds video once a week. No Geofence?The only way to have this arm/start monitoring is setting a schedule or arming manually. No option to use your phone as a geofence? Every other company has this on their cameras. They are 10 years behind their competitors. Look at their “What’s new” page on the app; the last entry is from Nov 2022 which says a lot about what you get..Version: 6.29.1

Don’t waste your moneyFirst time user. Just got it today for Christmas. It comes with one set of lithium batteries for my two cameras. The sync module attaches to a long cord that then attaches to the plug and then into the wall vs being flat against the wall plug. It has to be close to the router and since my router is in the laundry room the sync module has to sit on my kitchen counter top or hang from a plug onto the ground. Who wants a devices taking up counter space or hanging down their wall to the ground? Biggest annoyance is It DOES NOT COME WITH INSTRUCTIONS! How on earth did people before me mount the cameras? I have no clue as there are zero instructions on how to mount the cameras it only tells you how to sync with the app. It is extremely frustrating and will be the reason I return it. Plus what are the holes at the bottom of the cameras for? Have no clue. How do you sell something without instructions?! Also when I hit live on the camera it freezes or only takes for a few seconds at a time. It’s extremely exasperating. I would have never picked it out on my own and my mother feels awful for buying it. Nothing but a headache..Version: 3.1.9

Don’t always receive notificationsThere have been multiple times when the doorbell has been pressed, lite up so it look like it’s working - but you don’t receive any motivation on your phone via the app. The only way to resolve this seems to be uninstalling and reinstalling the app, which isn’t ideal to have to keep doing Not being able to power the doorbell via the mains isn’t ideal, false advertising on product details when purchased..Version: 6.19.0

Decent app but it’s missing user friendly featuresThis app and the blink system, for the price, are good solutions for home security. However, the app is missing some features that would vastly improve the experience for the end user. The two features that would be best implemented are either- indefinite snooze on camera notifications, or the ability to control which device notifications push to your device. Having an “All or nothing” notification setting is cumbersome. Example: I’d like to be able to get notifications for the outdoor and doorbell cams, but not for the indoor cams. The indoor cams would still record motion, however, there wouldn’t be notifications. Also, the doorbell notification is lacking. It’s not obvious enough. All in all; this is a good alternative to other systems but be aware of the flaws. The camera sensitivity works well, the resolution is decent, and the app works pretty well..Version: 6.17.0

Great cameras, but had trouble subscribingI have 4 mini cameras in our home, linked to the Blink app. For a long time I’ve had no problems at all and even had a problem solved with them. We have a hallway/passageway with no power sockets. I had 2 20,000mA power banks and each will power a Blink mini for a week in this area. I charge one, while the other is powering the camera. If the camera uses extra power through lots of night use, I get a notification to say it’s offline and I know to swap batteries. This is the benefit of them having a micro usb socket and the app being able to notify you of cameras being offline. My problems are caused with subscribing to their ultimate plan and once fixed, I’d happily give a 5 star review..Version: 6.23.1

After the free trial things changeBlink cameras come with a free trial of their cloud backup service. For some systems the cloud service is not required and videos can be saved with the HUB’s memory port by using a USB drive. So, I thought I would see how things change after the free trial expires and find out what’s different. Today I went out in front of our cameras to see how they perform and here’s what I found. First of all I noticed that the cameras respond differently. How? The camera on the front of our house stopped detecting movement in the driveway and near the house and, instead, detects every car that drives by - even though those zones are deactivated. The notifications for movement detection are often very delayed or non-existent. The list of videos no longer has an orange dot next to the new videos that haven’t been watched yet so you can’t tell which ones are new and yet-to-be watched. The talk button still works but the sound doesn’t come out of the speaker for a minute or two - so the majorly delayed two-way communication makes that feature virtually unusable. Checking the live-view results in a spinning curser as the system struggles to produce the video. Overall the system is very slow to respond and sometimes doesn’t react at all. So, yes, the cloud service isn’t required but my analysis shows that, without the service, performance is greatly reduced and sometimes the cameras just don’t respond at all. ☹️.Version: 6.11.0

This stuff is a conSo I’ve had both of the outdoor cameras and the video doorbell. Ended up sending the outdoor cameras back because one randomly failed under warranty. I’ve got the sync module with USB storage set up… amazingly, when they started charging for Cloud storage, my sync module randomly started throwing up a ‘USB storage device removed’ message (even though it hasn’t been removed) I have to re-insert it to get it to work again. Seems suspicious to me, given that I’ve had years of seamless USB recording… then suddenly when they want to charge for Cloud storage my sync module starts chucking out errors? Too much of a coincidence for my liking. I’ll be sending this rubbish back too if it carries on..Version: 6.26.0

Freezes and crashes my phone when attempting full screenI’m not sure what update triggered the freezing but anytime I try to view the blink cameras in full screen mode whether pushing the button or rotating my phone, my whole phone freezes and goes black and I can’t use it for at least two minutes until my phone seems to wake back up. Also, it used to be compatible with IFTTT so that when I left my house or came home, the cameras were automatically armed and unarmed. It no longer does that which is very unfortunate as the whole purpose of a security camera system is to be able to monitor your home while you’re away to fix both of these problems, I have completely uninstalled both applications on linked them from one another and reinstalled and re-linked, but the problems still persist. Finally, it would be very nice to be able to view multiple cameras at a single time instead of having to wait for one to stop “monitoring” before moving onto another camera, especially if multiple things are happening at once in multiple locations..Version: 6.22.0

App never works! EVER! It’s been months.App was good, cameras worked great during free trial and as soon as we paid for the year plan nothing works not even the motion detection, the audio, nothing. I can be standing right in front of the camera and nothing. As for the app and it’s functionality it’s absolutely stressing and horrible when you pay for a subscription and you can’t even load the thumbnail or live video. I’m currently possibly looking at getting evicted because my cameras haven’t been working. ( we use them to check on our dog whom has separation anxiety) and it’s stressful not being able to check on him and calm him down when barking when we are not home and facing being homeless because of this app and cameras not working when we need them too is getting out of hand I’m paying for a service that I haven’t been able to load in to view for the past few months. So soIt’s actually better than I thought it would be for the price... a couple things I find silly.... Unless I’m missing it and I may be so hopefully if I am someone can correct me.. with such an important app with such an important notification that’s so different from your phones other notifications there should be a built in function where the app makes a different noise than other apps since iPhone doesn’t seem to do that on its own (I know, not blinks problem, but many people will be using iOS to Navigate) I find myself ignoring the notifications thinking they are social things. Whoops. Also wish more than one person can view live at once. Especially if paying for premium planning. I don’t understand why pay all the money for literally absolutely no reason whatsoever. I keep trying to justify the reason for the subscription and it makes really no sense other than they kind of bully you into it making more sense if you have more than one camera which almost everyone who buys one does..Version: 6.2.10

Just purchased twoJust purchased two then read about having to reset they sync module when your away from home? Is this going to be sorted, as the user says, if your away from home, you’ve no idea what’s going on until you return to your house emptied? Come on, employ a proper software engineer to sort this out, otherwise your selling all these cameras to people, knowing there pretty useless if your away from home 🏠 if you can’t resolve, then there not security cameras. You could be held liable for you describe these as security cameras, there no good if you have to reset the sync when your hundreds or thousands of miles away from home, or are these just Baby monitors??? Doesn’t work with sync moduleOnce they started charging for their cloud service I installed a sync module 2 so I wouldn’t have to pay the monthly fee. Don’t bother, IT DOESN’T WORK. It’ll take tons of videos that you can only delete one at a time. It’s motion detection is unreliable. You won’t be able to play clips when it decides you “can’t access them at this time”. You’ll spend hours trying to troubleshoot this mess and end up doing what I did, throwing it in the trash..Version: 6.19.0

Verification email EVERY TIME??!!The app has functioned fine since original install. This most recent update now requires a verification every time I open the app, this is ridiculous. I choose to not give my phone number or turn on Biometric, so now need to enter a code from email. I get if we need to verify once a month or so, but every time is overkill. Or at least give me the option to turn this off, as I also close the (all) app(s) after use to save battery life. Please change this requirement..Version: 6.1.4

Batteries low after 3 days!Installed Blink Outdoor camera on Friday by Monday morning a warning said that the batteries were low! This camera is supposed to have long lasting batteries! The camera was also not detecting movement. I rang Blink support phone number twice and was told first to uninstall the Blink app, then to turn off router, then to take camera off outside wall and bring it in doors. I did try all the other things but couldn’t do latter without a ladder. Camera is still not working. Good - when it worksWhen it works this is a reasonable app and system. However, lately the sync module has taken to disconnecting itself from the router and will not reconnect. The only way to get it to reconnect is by doing a reset, and restarting your router too. Now this is ok if you’re at home, but obviously impossible if you’re away from home. Considering the whole point is to be able to view remotely, to either check in on things or get alerts if there’s an intruder while you’re away, then if it goes offline when you’re away then the whole system is redundant. Looking at the blink community support forum this seems a common issue, and blinks only advice is to reset the module - great, if you’re at home, absolutely useless if you’re not. Come in blink, sort the going offline and reconnecting issue out b.Version: 6.1.1

Thief is laughing at me.Can you ever imagine, every time you get a notification that someone is in front of your door, picture takes minimum of 30 seconds and live video takes about 45 seconds to load up. (If you are lucky and connected Wi-Fi at home). If I ever be a thief or gangster, I’m gonna laugh at this brainless design. Lowering my ratingI fell like there is very little progress on app features. Overall this system works for me but it's missing one critical feature: Disarm for x minutes... Please implement a quick "Disarm for X minutes" for individual cameras. In residential situations, there are *many* times where there is known activity in a certain area for an amount of time, like many others have mentioned: mowing lawns, sitting on porch, working in driveway, etc. etc. You either end up with 50 videos, run down your battery, or you remember to disarm the camera first but then forget to turn it back on two days later. It's just really inconvenient. A simple "Disarm for.." list with a set of times, say 5,10,15,30,60,120 minutes would be the perfect feature.. thank you. Adding the temporary disarm to the iOS icon context menu would be even more convenient. Also: please stop darkening the video when playback is paused. It's impossible to pause and view something important because the video is immediately is darkened. Doesn't make any sense..Version: 6.6.1

All needs option to download multiple videosI recently needed to download 70+ video clips. There is an option to select multiple videos to delete but there is no option to download. I had to download each video individually in the iPhone app. The problem is that when you do that you lose all of the information that you see in the app. The file is saved as a video file but without any camera, date or time. Unless you know when the video was taken there is no way to find this out after you save it somewhere then delete it from the Blink App. It really needs an option to download multiple files retaining the details of the camera, date and time in the filename that is saved..Version: 6.2.12

Force update makes device obsoleteFirst , I complained that the latest force update required a iOS version that can not be implemented, rendering cameras virtually obsolete, because my iPad is old and can’t be upgraded - so the customer service/ developer response was : “appreciate your feed back...recent app updates provide security...my team..will like to discuss Blink system requirements in further detail...” THIS MUST BE an AI response, right?! or someone who has a very dark sense of humor and uncaring attitude ! I understand that the system - NOW -requires an update and iOS that is compatible BUT THAT was not the case when I bought the system, and what you have done is worse than any security flaw exploit would have done -now the cameras are worthless. since, I can not use them with out buying a new iPad that cost 10 the price of cameras. Do you get that?! Is it to difficult to understand the economics of the problem. Why do you respond with inappropriate comments that assume customers “are stupid or ignorant about technology?” Or are you saying that your engineerings are going to violate iOS copyright and hack and old IPad to make it compatible.. What is their deal with making youTap another icon to open another icon that you could’ve just opened in the first place and been done with what you needed to do each update with their apps they do this. you used to tap once box that opened up you did what you needed, Once again now this time you have to tap tap the three little dots to open a box to give you more information to get to settings when it used to just be tap you are at settings. The next update will be tapping a box to take you to a box that tells you you need to tap that box to go to settings and when you get to that settings box you’ll have to tap again to take you to another box that is the real Settings but that’s not the real Settings….Version: 6.31.0

Blink subscriptionSo you spend a few days reviewing all the options for security cameras. Find a decent version that is run by a reputable company. A year in they decide hey we aren’t being greedy enough let’s hike up the prices and start adding subscription services for customers. This little addition is not appreciated. I always got by the fact that the cameras arnt actually that good. The range of motion is limited. Sometimes it misses people knocking on the door with the fact that they offered the a decent level of cloud storage for free with purchase. Now they have taken that away it really highlights that these are not worth the money. I’d suggest finding a decent alternative with a reasonable subscription for cloud data. In all I think I spent around £300 for a number of cameras that in all honesty just about did the job with the free recording storage. Now that’s removed they really just are not worth it..Version: 6.28.0

Decent all around, app has room for improvementsI spent a lot of time researching different camera systems before finally purchasing a 5 set of these cameras. They have met my expectations from what I had read were the pros and cons of this camera system. My biggest gripe with the app currently is that there isn’t a way to refresh the camera views all simultaneously. When I open the app to check on everything, (my 5 cameras,) I should be able to see a live view of all cameras instead of clicking on each camera to refresh the feed. There is even a pull down “refresh” feature when you are on the camera view page but I haven’t actually seen that do anything. This is how I think the camera refresh function should work but it does not. All in all not a huge deal, but something I think of every time I use the app. When I’m at work or on the go and want to quickly check on things at home, it makes the process longer than it needs to be..Version: 6.2.9

Good app, but with a huge lack of good functionalitiesGood app, but with a huge lack of good functionalities, it’s not possible to create a different sound for the notifications, so you don’t if someone is trying to enter in your house or it’s any other notification with the same alert sound. They introduced the “snooze”, a very good option if you want to monitor your house but not in real time, but you can disable notifications max 4 hours, but why it’s not flexible? not sure, maybe 8 or 24 hours it’s too much for the developers, and this functionality one day is there and the next disappears in the app, totally crazy. Sometimes saved videos are broken after one second or freezes. The app seems like not progressing, just the cameras hardware..Version: 6.11.0

Downgrading ratingThere is a well-known issue where the system stops detecting or recording for hours at a time. I learned to live with it, and sometimes could get the system going again by manually viewing a camera. But as I write this now, it has been over five hours since any clips have been recorded, despite the fact that the area is very busy. Nothing I do is making it work again. I have a very serious issue going on where somebody has tried to put something into one of the PVC pipes exiting the house from my furnace. Blink, you cannot pretend to be unaware of this situation in general or, now, my situation in particular. I’m saying it publicly for everyone to see. Do NOT tell me to contact you, because that’s just a way for the owners of an app to put across the notion that they take these things seriously. You don’t, otherwise you would’ve taken care of this widespread issue that you have known about for a long time. So don’t try to make it sound like the problem is on my end or somehow unique to me. Fix this. It is way overdue..Version: 6.31.0

Never ending email verification loopsCameras aren’t bad, not great either but the app is frustrating and if you try to change the primary account email you end up in an email authentication loop with the app indicating emails are still being sent to the old email. Bad design, lazy verification testing..Version: 6.0.14

The app needs a lot of workMy last set up was with Nest and I needed a few more cameras and purchased Blink because of the price (it's appropriately priced). The camera set up is a breeze and no hardwiring needed. The downside to that is the lack functions it offers. There is no live feed without a request made in the app and that request takes at least 30 seconds and the feed lasts only 60 seconds. I use the cameras to watch my kids and dogs when I'm in a different room and I can't with these cameras. The notifications are incessant. I want it to record motion even when I'm home but it let's me know anytime the wind blows or someone is in the home. I know we're home. You can only snooze for 4 hours max and you can't clear all so in like 2 days, I have 688 alerts that are just hanging out. The night vision isn't very good either. But it's like half the price of Nest and almost instant set up. It does great sensing motion and recording. Best is able to differentiate between wind and a person so that's a drawback. Biggest draw back is not being able to use it like a baby monitor. I'm keeping the Nest just for that..Version: 6.10.2

Now after 2 years need a subscription!Had no problems linking blink to our wifi. Cameras are all outside and work great, so much so we bought 4 and the doorbell. Now over the last week I received an email informing us that our free trial has ended (had them for 2plus years). When i bought them I was told we didn’t need a subscription and only needed a usb stick so was happy. Blink have gotten on to the band wagon with everyone else in these hard times and had us over!! Still thinking of subscribing to somewhere else regardless of the cost for the actions of this company. Not good blink!!!.Version: 6.24.2

Don’t Bother with BlinkUnless you’re willing to spend more money for the cloud subscription, it’s not worth it. And even with a paid cloud subscription, the quality isn’t that great and the motion detection range is extremely poor. It will pick up cars moving on the street but not someone walking up the path to the house..Version: 6.31.0

Upgrades are to remove free featuresThe primary purpose of app updates are to remove free features and charge for them as part of a paid subscription. When this product was first released they advertised that the features would remain free for the life of the product but they changed the terms of service to remove that promise..Version: 6.29.0

So bad.For a company that’s owned by Amazon, you’d think they’d invest in developing an app that works. I mean works half decently, not an app that works a quarter of the time. Blink cameras and the app are junk. This app lags, crashes, has “thumbnail” errors, and the list goes on. You only get notified with doorbell cameras when the button is pushed. Motion detection is poor at best, and even then it only lights up a 1/star on the app. No sound, no banner, nothing. After checking all notifications in my settings, I can confirm it’s an app problem. Amazon/blink… do better..Version: 6.31.0

Not a security appThis is not a security set up. I have been using it for more than 2 years now. Constant delays in notifications, video not loading when I try open notification to check who’s there it opens live view instead. Today I can’t even open app as is loading on main screen. When I got notification of movement I can’t access feed because is recording, if I can’t view it straight away how can I react accordingly? 50/50This used to be a great system, not the clearest on a night but good enough and great during the day time, with the feature to speak to people. Terrible design flaw in updatePLEASE FIX ASAP. Yikes! The recent update puts the delete button right where the share/save button used to be. Anyone who has been regularly saving videos is set up to accidentally delete instead of save. Also, the share button is now positioned right next to the delete button, and so is very easy to accidentally tap, especially on a iPhone vs iPad. Do the software designers actually use the app? [Edited: the April 2021 update speeds up the save to file function; it only takes a few seconds to save each video to file now. Thanks!!! —> It *WAS* a slow and annoying process, having to save one video at a time - taking about 1/2 minute each save.] By moving the share/delete buttons the save process is slowed down by (1) needing to break the habit of quickly tapping where the share button used to be, and (2) having to be very careful to make sure you don’t tap the delete button by accident since they’re so close together. Yes, there is a pop-up “do you want to delete” verification when you tape delete, but it’s easy to accidentally tap “yes”. Should be minus starsIf you have more than a couple cameras this system becomes almost useless. Very time the wind blows the cameras false trigger. Every time the sun changes angles they false trigger. Every time a shadow moves they false trigger. The trigger time is so slow that most times the object you want to capture has already passed the viewing angle. Or it will trigger too quickly and stop recording before the object reaches the view. If you are doing lawn care or enjoying a gathering expect your cameras to go insane. The only way to rectify the first set of problems is to disarm the system, and then wonder a couple days later why there hasn’t been any video, oh that’s right it’s been disarmed for two days because the cameras were constantly false triggering. Or, you can turn down the sensitivity to a point where a Mac truck wouldn’t trigger them. As simple solution to most problems would be quite simple. Make it so the system could be globally disarmed for a preset period of time. Unfortunately this seems to be beyond the comprehension of the company. Terrible option for home securityThis is the worst camera system I’ve ever owned. I was assured it was the best deal for the price however I feel like I overpaid for a dollar store system. You have to pay fees to record videos, the image and video quality is atrocious, it lags big time, it’s sound quality is basically nonexistent. By far the worst system out there IMO. Your options are very limited, it doesn’t continue to record video with motion, you can only set it to record a specific amount of time so either you have extremely long videos of nothing when the camera is triggered by essentially nothing or you get short useless videos because despite continuous motion, the camera stops recording after the set amount of time, ie 15 seconds.. etc… it will detect wind but not full blown people and cars, the night vision is a complete joke, it just reflects light causing a reflection that renders the video completely useless. Slow slow slow slowInvested in two cameras initially. System seemed good, responsive to requests etc. I was aware before purchasing about the latency issues. This didn’t seem to bother me at first. HOWEVER! After purchasing a few more cameras the app now takes forever to load or sometimes not at all making the latency issue incredibly worse. Not only can you not react in time to someone on your property, but now you can’t react at all. The cameras themselves are incredibly good for the price. The overall mechanics need ironing out. Too slow for a security systemAlright guys please save yourself money and do not get this security system. I’ve now had it for 4 months and the app will not load my camera in a timely manner. If it does load it can take multiple attempts, a very long time 30+ minutes, or it times out. If there is a real issue by the time you get on the app to view what’s happening it will be way too late. That’s a huge problem especially when it’s suppose to be security for you. I use the camera to check in on my dogs (one is 17 years old) and if something was to happen and I can’t load the app to see if I need to run home and I miss my chance I would be heartbroken. If there was a fire or a burglar you would be SOL. Even with the highest powered battery and minimal time armed the camera will die within a few weeks. Imagine if you needed to arm your house every day you would be going up to change the batteries every week. At first when I had my 30 day trial everything was smooth but since then it’s been horrible. 0/5..Version: 6.22.0

Glitches badI currently have construction crew working on my house and from time to time I like to watch what they are doing live when I’m not home. This system after about 20-30 seconds has a blue button at the button that says “continue?” I click that button, but from then on, the footage is SUPER glitchy. The sound counts out, the video won’t load and then it will kick me out to the home page. So I then click back onto the camera and it is still super glitchy and eventually it will kick me out of the whole app. It does not matter what camera I click on after the first 30 seconds of watching. They are all super glitchy. Also, when you click to video the live feed, it takes like 40 seconds for it to load, even if my phone is on WiFi. I do really like having this system but it’s got some issues. Especially the live feed which I stated already. I did check to see if my app needed to be updated, it is currently up to date..Version: 6.27.0

Pain to setup, pain to use.It’s supposed to be a straight forward process- you download the app and register, then you scan the QR codes and voila. Well - no. I’ve managed to set it up the first time and it worked fine for a while. When I replaced tue batteries to one of tue cameras I couldn’t add it back. I had to delete and re-set the whole system and I’ve managed to add only one of the cameras back. Now it’s partially working - the camera is connected in the sync module but it’s not responding to any commands sent. It’s not a reliable system and the mobile app is not good..Version: 6.12.0

It Could Be BetterUpdate… It really isn’t worth the money. It never works and is slow. A lot of times cameras stop working and just won’t synch. Tech support always says it’s the batteries or WiFi rather than the actual cause of it being really poor service. Pretty goodI started using the system with five cameras in 2021 - I have 19 now. It’s pretty good but depends on Wi-Fi strength of course. Not the bestIn order to have the best quality and video you will be changing the batteries every other week. The sound is terrible on them you can’t hear anything other than robots. It would be nice if they had face recognition so your cameras wouldn’t constantly click on when the people who live in the house come home and leave. Disappointing ChangesI’ve had this camera for over 2 years now and it’s been great for watching the dogs when I’m out at the shops etc. Never had an issue and nothing to complain about until now! It looks like Blink have introduced a subscription/plan to use the camera and the features that come with it ie video recording - my ‘free trial’ runs out in 22 days. As an existing customer for 2+ years, I shouldn’t need to pay this as it wasn’t a requirement when I bought the camera. Inability to select a group of clips to deleteThe fact that you can’t select a certain clips you want to delete and then delete at one time makes it almost unusable. Wind makes tons of videos and my husband was working in the yard which produced tons of clips that I need to delete. Mind you I should have turned it off while he was outside working, but I didn’t so now I have to delete individually hundreds of clips by swiping and then hitting the delete button. For each clip!!! It would also be great to have a timer of when you disarm for a reason like yard work or something that it alerts you to turn them back on so you don’t forget. I don’t Know why the wind turned them on as there was no movement in front to prompt it just the sound of wind. Please make the upgrade immediately to select the clips in a group and THEN hit the delete button. I don’t have 20 min or more to individually delete the clips nor do I want ti spend my time doing this. Had Arlo. Now I’m over invested in this.My first issue that really bugs me is that if you accidentally touch the name of a camera on the Home Screen it prompts you to change the name. This should only be in the settings of the camera not on the Home Screen where you press the arm and disarm button. If they could fix that it would be great. Second issue I have is the cameras don’t give you a battery indicator other than good . No percentage or anything. Having Arlo prior which I feel is far superior, had a lot better user interface. I do like these cameras and the unlimited amount you can have for the annual service fee. But they need to work out some flaws in the app. The name change thing being the biggest woe. I also wish you could play live view on more than one camera at a time like Arlo did. Never posted this I think after first getting these. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Now I’m absolutely certain they need to fix where the arm and disarm area is or make the camera name change just in the settings, not on the main page directly next to your second cameras name…! Like let’s be serious. Once you set the name of your cameras do you really want to change the name of said camera on the fly on your home page and not in your settings of said camera. Product degradation for local storage usersBlink has degraded several features for local storage users over time quietly, to the point that I am now shopping for a different brand. I have used Blink for a year and a half now. In the beginning, my setup was great. It never had downtime, I talked to people through the device from across the country and saved the clips, and it just worked. Now, the system does not always pick up motion when it used to, and still worse, the Blink app removed the function for local storage users to save their 'live view' clips. If someone is burglarizing your home, and you hop into a live view to confirm it, you aren't allowed to save the clip you're watching in real time. It's insane. Also, Blink just recently added a fat, unchangeable watermark onto all new clips it records. So not only have I lost various functions and my system is less reliable now, but Blink wants to advertise itself should I ever have the use of this product anyway. They call the watermark "industry standard" when other brands allow their watermarks to toggle off. Don't buy this system or use this app if you think you're going to be self-sufficient with it. They money grabbers at Blink nerfed this into oblivion for that purpose..Version: 6.16.0

Very slow and almost unusable.Since the last update, the time switching between cameras has doubled at least, making the system near unusable. Tech support have been contacted but have tried to state that it’s a WiFI and network issue and not the app. But having done several tests of my own including with my internet supplier, it is clear that the issue lies with the app, Blink just won’t admit it. Don’t download the Route This Help app when asked to do so as is a suspect app that their tech support uses to shift the blame onto your own network. There are a lot better systems out there with better customer service..Version: 6.5.2

UselessUtterly pointless at this stage! I’ve had the doorbell for a little while and the app intermittently will actually record the motion. However I would say at least 85% of the time will notify motion but won’t record it. Live feed hardly ever works and the communication function is so significantly delayed that they’ve usually gone before what I’ve said comes through. I’ve not ever been able to view who is actually at my door before I open it as it simply will not load. I have absolutely no issues with Wi-Fi it internet connection when out so that’s not the reason. I would not recommend this system at all and will be looking to swap to the ring doorbell which seems to actually have a functioning and useable system. It’s a 0 star from me. Limited recording time.I’m rating this 3 stars as it does work. It serves its purpose to a degree. I’ve had an unfortunate event with it though. A lady hit my car outside the house. She walked up to her car which was parked behind mine. Got in. Started the car. And then the recording stopped as it’s set at 60seconds (max) and the retrigger time to start recording is 10 secs (MIN). It can’t be any sooner. Therefore. When it started recording again. The incident had already happened. So my advice is maybe pay a little extra and go for an alternative brand..Version: 6.1.6

How to reset your Sync Module if you're not at home / cameras are disconnected.If you're not at home you can't reset your Sync Module, so not much good if you're away for a few days .... Plug your Sync Module into a smart plug! (I use compact TECKIN plugs but any make should do). Then, if you need to reset your Sync Module and you're not at home, you can turn off the smart plug via an app, leave it for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on. You might have to give the Sync Module and cameras a minute or two to reconnect to each other and the Wi-Fi network. I haven't needed to reboot the Wi-Fi router when the sync module has reconnected. (Obviously you wont see which lights are showing on the Sync Module, so you will be relying on the devices starting up correctly and not having any electronic / software faults). ** This has worked every time for me! ** If there's a power cut at home, then you wont be able to contact the smart plug via Wi-Fi as the router etc will likely be offline too..Version: 6.24.1

Great devices but region locking / region support poorMinus another two stars because still not supporting IFTTT, Google, Amazon Alexa, Apple home, etc. automation outside US. Seriously? Still? Backed the crowdfunding of these devices. They work pretty well though one bounces between being too sensitive and not sensitive enough. The app is slowly improving to assist with deleting or saving multiple recordings. Generally speaking, these are great devices and the app is pretty good. The worst aspect is there is zero functionality for Apple Home Control, Google Home, Alexa Skills or IFTTT for Australian backers. The company’s lack of interest and support for it’s original backers is pretty disappointing and makes these somewhat dumb units. SoundsUpdate as of 11/14- still a terrible little “blip” sound that is barely audible. Also, since the most recent update I don’t get notifications at all sometimes. The cameras are going off and I am not aware of it all unless I go in and check the app. Then I see all the red notifications and activity. This is extremely concerning because I pay monthly for this service to protect my home, yet I am not aware if something Is happening because I am getting no notifications at all. My settings have not changed, it’s intermittent at best. Very upset because I just purchased more cameras and this is now happening. Since the update to iOS 17 the notification sound is very hard to hear. No longer does it make a louder sound. To start, Blink does not allow the sound to be changed at all to begin with. This is extremely disappointing given I would like to have my own choice in sound for alert notifications. Now, the sound is barely audible. My wife has yet to update her iOS and is still running 16. Slow AFThis App is absolute garbage. When you click on the desired camera to have a glance at what’s going on, we’ll sometimes it takes forever to load and sometimes it just doesn’t work. You have to go back and retry or close the App and start again. There servers are so slow and I have super fast wifi. So y’a.. choose another company if you can. Glitchy At BestThese cameras are ok at best. I have fantastic internet and my sync module is within a few feet of my router, but the absolute horrible delay of getting the camera’s to give you a live view or capturing a video when they detect motion is horrible. Typically whatever triggered the camera is out of sight before it actually records. Then, if you tap on a camera and see nothing, you close that camera out and open another you get the beautiful message of “sync module is busy” or some non sense. You can forget talking through the camera for any reason. It’s so delayed and broken it sounds like a third world language. My system disconnects every time the power goes off for obvious reasons and you simply CANNOT IN ANY WAY get the system connected to WiFi again. I enter my WiFi password and the brilliant Blink system tells me it’s incorrect. Reset the internet, still nothing, call the help desk and suffer through 30 minutes of someone speaking broken English and magically they work again. You can walk directly in the view of the camera and not trigger it. I have played with every setting available in the individual camera and nothing. So you have camera’s but they are next to useless. I would recommend avoiding Blink. With Blink, if you paid for time the product actually worked, they would mail you a check..Version: 6.26.0

No badgesThe app is OK with limited functionality for somethings compared to full version subscription services like ring and nest. I can’t really complain about these cameras because of their price point and typical durability. But this app is another issue. I have not gotten icon badges at all ever since day one. I get banners and sounds and other things like that but no matter what I do I cannot get badges. And this wouldn’t be a big issue but sometimes you swipe away multiple notification banners that are persistent or in this case, even setting the banners to persistent is not working because they are stuck on temporary. Added to the wonky Ness of the notification screen on the iPhone itself, where sometimes there’s no active notifications but there are past notifications and sometimes even when you swipe back up you don’t see those missed notifications, this is where the problem with not having badges comes in. But I’ve been dealing with this for over two years and multiple tickets later I still don’t have a fix for it..Version: 6.14.0

Constantly disconnecting!!! 🤬🤬🤬When it’s connected, Blink is actually quite a good system, but it CONSTANTLY disconnects from the Wi-Fi and the only way to reconnect is to delete the app and do a full reset on the device itself. So bloody frustrating, time consuming and completely USELESS when you receive the notification when you’re away from home (ie at work etc), when a reset is impossible. Blink needs to sort this out because reading the reviews, I’m not the only one with this issue. Certainly wouldn’t recommend and given the choice again, I’d choose another system..Version: 6.6.1

Decent camera but app needs improvementsBought 2 of the blink mini cameras on Black Friday to improve security in our home and while they work reasonably well the app needs some improvements - it’s not the most intuitive (although reasonably feature rich), but it drives me nuts that there is no way to clear down motion alerts - it’s delete all or painfully click on each video to mark it as read to get your count down to 0. Tried contacting support, who confirmed they hadn’t thought of this, but my next reply resulted in a mailbox full response error so I’m not holding my breath sadly. On the plus side - IFTTT integration does let you arm the cameras when leaving your home and image quality is reasonable..Version: 6.1.3

The UI is getting worseThe UI is becoming increasingly less convenient to use. Useful functions are progressively being buried deeper and requiring more menu navigation to reach. I fail to see the reason for this apart from tinkering with no real purpose. Camera temperature is a useful feature for me. This used to be one menu deep and is now three deep. Refreshing the camera is useful for quickly checking the scene. This feature used to be on the top screen, it’s now one menu down. I used to be able to enable/disable cameras from the top screen with one click. This feature is now buried a menu down. What’s going on?.Version: 6.31.0

Short Lived Live StreamBackground need: I have a need to watch my elderly, handicapped FIL who likes to try to stand up without required assistance. I have been using old iPads’ FaceTime to watch and communicate with him (while I’m working in another part of the house, or outside doing yard work). I need to keep a constant eye and/or ear on him so to interrupt any potential fall situation he tries to put himself into. Ownership : I just set up my account, app, and camera today. Camera = indoor Mini First response in meeting my need: disappointed - Live sound & stream last less than a couple of minutes, then there is a short lived prompt to continue. If you miss it, then you have to restart the stream. I need it to be a continuous feed, until I manually end it. The Mini is corded for its power, so power saving is not of a concern. Features: The motion sensor works well Notifications come through quickly - for my need, my FIL could be on the ground by the time I get the alert and get the stream moving again, so while they are nice, the process of getting from alert to live stream is too slow. Audio - 2 way is nice & appears to be clear enough for me to be heard coming from the camera. Important to note: the video and sound have about a 2 second delay. Likely, if you are reading this in the App Store then the purchase is already made. To the app developers: please consider including a continuous live stream option, especially for corded powered cameras..Version: 6.6.1

Not the worstI’ve used many brands of cameras in my line of work so I know what’s utter garbage, and what isn’t. These are alright for simple home use. The quality of the video both during the day, and at night are sufficient. You can clearly see the persons face, and that is all that really matters. They have always detected motion well. They were decently priced. I don’t love that they require an email, and a phone number. Pick one. It just feels extra intrusive. No support team needs both on file. I also do not love that the notifications are hit or miss. I have everything set up with my preferences in both my phone settings, and the app settings yet most of the time I do not get any. So that means I have to open the app to see if anything is captured. Which makes the live video mic basically useless. If you want to relay a message verbally via the camera to family when they enter the home you will likely not be notified of its detecting motion. If you want to shout at an intruder that you’re watching them, also useless. That is a fix that is completely on the app end seeing as my notifications work for every other app I use. So overall a decent camera, easy to set up, but crappy on the notification end. If that could be fixed I would say this would be a pretty great system..Version: 6.2.2

Worst update everBefore update - when changing sensitivity, which is at least two times a day on a sunny day, you change it and just return to last screen and system does the job on background so you can do other things without having to wait; After update - you have to wait until the change is actually done, which could take tens of seconds. And seriously, whoever designed the new UI should be fired, did you even try it yourself before rolling it out? All the controls are now ON the actual footage, so you can’t see anything when you use the slider; you have to click on footage, click on pause and then click on footage again just to pause the video and can actually see things; and seriously, who put the share button on the footage?.Version: 4.0.21

Frustrating . UPDATEUpdate- nothing has changed on this problem. And what is even more infuriating is that the sync 2 module which is part of this system has a few times now just went offline. No power issues, nothing changing on wifi or pkacement or anything else. Just goes offline. And when I try to reconnect it, I spend literally hours trying . It is not fun. Try everything. Tells me password is incorrect, but it isn’t. It is just crazy difficult to reconnect. More like impossible. Don’t have the budget now to switch to a new system but it looks like we will likely have to. Too buggy, dThis app and systemis pretty frustrating. If I want to watch clips it recorded previously( so I can make sure all is ok and delete them), it drives me crazy because EVERY SINGLE TIME, it starts playing the most recent one. Over and over and over again, I have to wait for that one to load, then start before I can pause it and then click on the one I want to look at. Why can’t it be so that it does not auto play the most recent clip so i can just go through and click on the one I want to watch when I want to watch it. Don’t know if maybe they just want to frustrate me because I don’t subscribe to paying their monthly fee. ???Thinking about just figuring out my next camera system..Version: 6.29.1

Needs Some WorkThe first few days when I had this it worked very well using the ringer and letting my Alexa announce that there is someone here now the app is very awful and it need some working on. Whenever there is motion detected on the gate and I click to see you can never know if you’re really gone see what’s happening or you’ll just be on an infinite loading screen and miss on whatever was happening outside of your door. The only time you get to actually see thought the camera is when someone is ringing the doorbell or when there is motion detected why can’t we see whats happening outside whenever we feel like it? If it’s because of the battery dying too quickly we’ll thats my problem that’s why you give warnings ahead of time. The worse part is that videos end too quickly when they don’t have to, I got a video of a delivery man ringing my door bell and then 2 seconds later the video cut off now I can’t see where he left my package due to the video cutting off when it didn’t need to, I know I left the record time to the Max amount of time it lets me and I turned “end video early” OFF so I don’t see any reason why my recordings end early whenever it feels like it. The motion sensor is very odd when it comes to recording, somehow it is able to detect a small cat walking on the floor Feet away from my door but sometimes it can’t even detect a person walking towards my door until they’ve already reached it..Version: 6.11.0

OK security cameraI’ve had this unit about 4 months. It was easy to install and the motion detector works well. We have located in our carport which gets very hot during the day (we are in Florida) so the temperature notification goes off nearly every day but it doesn’t seem to affect the quality of the video. We also have it hooked up to a power source so I don’t worry about the battery. We ended up getting a better camera mount for it. The one that comes with it leaves it open to theft. I like the free storage and it has never filled up because I usually delete the videos daily. I rated it a 3 star because we have NEVER been able to get audio out. We can hear the person in the carport but when we are not home we would like the person to be able to hear us. I have spent HOURS and HOURS on the Blink website and googling other sites for solutions to no avail. I would like to get another camera for a different location but I’m hesitant because of that particular reason..Version: 6.0.5

Saving ClipsGood Cameras but, Please can we have a way to have a live view from the Home Screen so we can see live what’s happening on all cameras without having to individually press the camera icon. Please can we also have a way to save individual videos and delete the rest without worrying about deleting the ones we want saving. Please can we also have a time/date stamp on the videos. Too much info for little functionHow much more information about my life do you want after I’ve already bought your product and then on top of it you want me to pay for a subscription ? Should I just send you a vile of my blood while I’m at it maybe some strands of hair too, listen, you can take your app, your cameras and go fk yourselves, I tossed my cameras in the trash where they belong..Version: 6.30.2

Slow and clunkyI like it less every day. Do yourself a favor and save money in the long run for a system that doesn’t overcharge for storage subscription. Previous review: My apartment has 100 mps fiber optic internet so it is not the problem. I didn’t expect this system to perform like a quality home DIY system but I didn’t know it was going to take anywhere from half a minute to get a view at who is at the door to 5 minutes to get a picture and sound when you arm the internal camera. If you wait to see who’s at the door, they’ll leave before you answer it. This is pure and simple bad, inefficient coding. The only thing is good for is making sure my dog isn’t worried while we’re gone and disturbing the neighbors with barking. I give it 3 stars because honestly that’s what I bought it for. But was hoping it provided more. I’m sorry I bought the doorbell as I can see who it is much faster through the peep hole. Also, you can’t see who is at the door remotely unless you buy a second subscription. Might be worth it if the quality were better but my doorbell is most likely headed for Goodwill..Version: 6.28.0

Good but needs workGreat little app, but does sometimes lack a bit of ingenuity. Clearly the developers don’t use this app on a day-to-day basis. For example the notifications. If I’ve had a busy day going in and out the front door, and not bothered to disarm my system, I may have 40 to 50 notifications. This is not a problem, however I can’t clear all the notifications in one go. I have to individually watch every single video to clear the notification. Very annoying. The app works great most the time, a little bit leggy and a little bit slow but does the job..Version: 6.1.1

Not fit to use as home surveillance kitApp is not even worth to be used a single day. App has huge list of flaws : 1. Connecting to camera using app itself is a big challenge. It only connects 1 out of 5 times. Will keep spinning and fail. 2. In live view after few seconds of streaming it will pop-up "continue" option . You need to click continue to keep viewing . 3. In case of notifications I am never able to open the app and see who's at door, since app never loads live feed .. 4. No option to invite family member using app. Requires separate login using same credentials. This app combined with camera is not worth single percent to be installed for home security .. I wish had knew about this flaws earlier .. My final words : not worth to buy with current features and software..Version: 6.29.0

They took away live recordingUnless you sign up for the subscription, live recording is no longer available. Why would you take away something that was free before? I absolutely loathe Amazon and Blink now for this..Version: 6.19.0

Great product, bad app upgradeI love my blinks but this last app upgrade is very annoying to a long time blink user. I agree the app was pretty archaic, and visually it looks great now, but with the new layout having ALL actionable buttons stacked at the bottom, every time I’m trying to manage my videos (I.e filter/ edit to bulk delete them) I end up hitting the community button when I hit delete.... Over and over and over and over again because the padding between the two areas is so small. This is super frustrating when I’ve taken the time to select specific videos to delete and then I have to make my selections all over again. I’m a 30 something working in tech so it’s not a user inexperience issue. It’s so annoying and I know I can’t be the only one with this issue. A better UI would be to move the edit/filter and cancel/mark/delete bar to across the top of the videos section and not right above the home/videos/settings/community at the bottom. Just one designer, and very annoyed consumers, opinion..Version: 6.0.7

App lets entire system down and it gets worse!The app lets the entire system down and it gets worse with every update. Don’t know if the app engineers are intentionally trying to put people off with new bugs and issues created with each new update but they’re going the right way about it. Please, please realise updates more frequently but most of all please sit down and have an actual proper look at this app and all of its bugs and issues before another update comes out. Your app is the weak link of the entire security system setup. It would also be nice to have a smart TV app and also be able to use app on MacBook and other devices! Fix the temperature readingBlink. The latest update fails to show temperatures of each camera.(shows a long string of numbers). Please. Move the temperature reading to the main screen next to camera name so we can see all temperatures at a glance. It’s currently buried under 2 submenus and worst of all it doesn't even work now after the latest update.Version: 6.24.2

Alert soundsThis app used to work just fine. After the ios 17 update the alert sounds can barely be heard. Until blink or apple allow the alerts to be changed by the user it will never be a usable app..Version: 6.31.0

Could be great, but buggyI bought 4 outdoor cameras because they were wireless and easy to setup and install. I didn’t want to go through the headache of hiring a professional to hardwire everything. So from that perspective, great idea. Problem is I find this system full of issues. Overall, it’s not dependable. Capturing thumbnails sometimes works, but most often doesn’t. The latency of live view is terrible, probably 10-15 seconds, and that’s if it works. My cameras are within 20feet of my router, and my sync module is literally next to the router so the latency can’t be because of my network which is a 300MB download. Sometimes the motion sensor will trigger but the camera won’t turn on in time And completely miss the action. Live stream audio cuts out frequently. Etc etc etc. When it works, it’s great. But there’s constant issues. I find that it doesn’t work more often than it works. Even night mode is patchy, image quality is great on one camera, but terrible of the other two. I also think the App is behind others like SimpliSafe. I’ll keep playing around with it, but it doesn’t always work and that’s annoying. Oh, and this is pretty annoying, but the whole system is sort of useless unless you sign up for their cloud service which will cost you $100 / year if you have more than one device. Whereas SimpliSafe still allows you to review and store video clips without their cloud service..Version: 6.2.13
