BlockBear! for Negative User Reviews

Good for a free productI wish to have more capability on some ads, they still occupy their space on some ads but blocks successfully, I wish to not seeing them occupying space at all..Version: 1.3.1

DodgyNothing on their website about who they are, or what their privacy policy is (don’t even state if they keep logs). Keep away. Stinks of government dodginess..Version: 1.3.1

HelplessIdk how to use it, give proper instructions on the app... I am uninstalling as there are no clear directions on how to effectively use it. I want to use it on safari but I don’t know how to enable it and block ads on safari, i have no clues and it is confusing on how to turn on this blockbear in Safari so I am uninstalling....Version: 1.3.1

Doesn’t workDoes nothing.Version: 1.3.1

*I don’t know if this used to work or not but it doesn’t work anymore, I downloaded it because it was completely free, I had high hopes. It doesn’t work, though. It hasn’t blocked ads for me..Version: 1.3.1

No longer worksIt’s been 4 years since it has been last updated and it does not work at all in blocking ads..Version: 1.3.1

Broken?This literally blocks no ads.Version: 1.3.1

Does what is says and more (in the worst way)Blocks a lot more then adverts. Have not been able to see many entire webpages as the were blocked by BlockBear. Going back to Firefox I suppose..Version: 1.3.1

Not greatOverall frustrating. Blocks youtube ads partially, still have to wait 5 sec at the start. Midway ads just completely stop the video (in pip). Clicking on legit search results will redirect to content blocked page. These are a few issues i’ve had with it.Version: 1.3.1

Good app but,It has a problem whenever I open a weblink in an email, on any email app on iOS, the link does not work, stating a content blocker has prevented it from opening, refreshing the page also does nothing. This is really annoying, because I have to disable BlockBear completely in order to open any weblink I receive from an email..Version: 1.3.1

Doesn't work very wellRemoves ads on some sites but not all. It just leaves a blank area where the ad is supposed to be..Version: 1.3.1

Needed a tool to cut down on ad traffic!Needs improvement badly. Letting in some ads by ad choice is not blocking that’s favoritism over another. Living a 1/4 block away from a major department store and I get swamped with advertisements as if I was inside the store see my problem here! Please let your research department know the current method is not working..Version: 1.3.1

BloakBearPlease update !!!.Version: 1.3.1

Not working at allTried several months ,Nothing works.Version: 1.3.1

Great add blocker bad cookie blockerBlock lists have not been updated on a long time. Not too bad for web browsing but a few and third-party cookies are now getting through. In the past it would block cookies when other apps were opened and linked to a browser or web hosted content. Now it is letting Facebook Google and other trackers and cookies through..Version: 1.3.1

Did nothing for meI installed it, turned in on in Safari extensions but it did nothing. Still lots of adverts..Version: 1.3.1

Unable to activateI was so excited to download BlockBear and remove all those pesky ads from my life, but alas, once I had downloaded it and activated it, I found I was unable to enable it in my safari settings. I hope that this is simply a temporary problem, and that the Bear will soon be back in action devouring ads..Version: 1.3.1

Don’t block YouTubeDoesn’t do the one thing I need it to do..Version: 1.3.1

Now finding problemsSo, I’ve been using this app for a long time, and it is excellent, but I’m now finding that ‘whitelisted’ sites doesn’t work properly. Apps added to the list are still having images / links blocked..Version: 1.3.1

It’s okayBack when when they first allowed ad blockers on the App Store, I used Purify. That was the best! Never saw an ad. Now, Purify was taken off the App Store so I had to look for a replacement. BlockBear seemed great as I was already familiar with TunnelBear. Super easy to set up, works instantly! My only complaint is that ads still seem to pop up. Definitely a major reduction, but I wished ALL the ads were gone, like my previous ad blocker..Version: 1.3.1

Replaces ads with ads?The app blocks ads while replacing those ads with their own ads and adding pop up ads. Absolute trash..Version: 1.3.1

GarbageThis doesn’t do anything but take up space on your iPad/iPhone. Garbage!!.Version: 1.3.1

Blocks ads but…I thought the app did a great job blocking ads but it made Safari useless on some websites. If I open an email link, Safari would error and not open the webpage. Also, scrolling would lock up on some websites. I was having to disable the ad blocker in order to scroll and then enable it again to block ads..Version: 1.3.1

No Longer Blocking AdsI’ve noticed performance has changed over use with this app. At first it did a great job of blocking ads. Especially really annoying pop up ads. Now it’s almost as if I don’t even have the app installed. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Verified Safari settings shows it’s enabled. I’m still getting ads. Not sure why it went from great to bad?.Version: 1.3.1

Nul sur mobile (iphone, ipad)Les pub pop up continuent d’apparaitre sur les sites.Version: 1.3.1

It worked very well until…It was working brilliantly for like 40 minutes but then i started getting ads and my browser started to slow down please help..Version: 1.3.1

???Does nothing on safari.Version: 1.3.1

Used to be good, needs an updateCurrently does not block YouTube ads. I’ve tried everything, from disabling to re-enabling each of the settings to deleting and redownloading the app to see if there were any updates. I was very satisfied before since the app is very simple and they don’t bombard you with ads in the app. I just hope that the Adblock gets updated soon.Version: 1.3.1

Pointless appI was hoping this app would stop all the infuriating pop ads that plague certain sites, but had absolutely no effect on them. It did however stop many email newsletters from working when I manually selected them. I could obviously add lots of sites to whitelists but that would be more annoying than ads. Waste of time - deleted..Version: 1.3.1

Broken badly, whitelist does not work, no longer maintained? This app is badly broken, and it seems no longer maintained. It does not add sites to the whitelist via the shortcut and if you do it manually via the app itself it still ignores it. Every 5th webpage is completely broken and won’t load at all until you turn it off. Its sad because I really liked the simplicity it provided years ago..Version: 1.3.1

Google ad links are brokenSometimes I want to click on an ad link at the top of a google search but these are broken by the blocking..Version: 1.3.1

Hate it when it never block pop-upsI’m trying to read in my account but it does pop-ups.Version: 1.3.1

Block trackers no longer works“Block trackers” function no longer working since I updated to latest iOS last week. Advertisements are blocked but trackers are not being blocked. FB, the big G, Insta and Snap are finding ways around your app. An update is needed. I’ll keep using for another month for an update before switching blockers. Before this it was a 5 star app. Please update to maintain 5 star functionality..Version: 1.3.1

Causes a ton of lagHad to uninstall, as it was too laggy to use in Safari. Couldn’t comment on anything due to lag and scrolling down pages causes blank screens for a moment. However, it does work. Blocked all ads on IGN..Version: 1.3.1

Stopped working after iOS 14.5Please fix.Version: 1.3.1

Abandoned!!!They never update anymore. We don't know if it's still working or it's just a storage waste in our phones..Version: 1.3.1

Also blocks innocuous iconsFor example (with the extension enabled) on my local health unit’s website, the yellow triangle with inset exclamation mark (denoting “caution”) was replaced by the poop emoji. It took a moment before I realized that they don’t indeed have a sense of humour, but that Block Bear had gone overboard. Most other websites’ menu icons were replaced with rectangular place-holders… leaving me to tap them to reveal their meaning. Five stars for effectiveness against the things we want less of; two stars for making familiar symbols unintelligible..Version: 1.3.1
