✓ Just beautiful and brilliant story tellingPerhaps the most engaging adventure I've played in years. The storytelling is spot on, with some startlingly original and brilliantly executed touches. The land of the giants in particular is grotesque fun. Moreover, the story is in the classic tradition of a Bildungsroman - a novel that follows the development of the protagonist from child to adult and is utterly persuasive in this. If there are flaws, it is only that it is not long enough, but at this price (£1.79) and with such impressive visual and conceptual creativity on show, it puts almost every other game to shame. ✓ Amazingly beautifulI've not suffered any bugs and have just completed the game. Games run fine on iPad Air, games a bit power hungry but it's prob at the edge of compatibility. I don't really remember the cost of the game and I don't mind a bit now, some would say the game was a bit short but the development and time that went into this amazing game is pure brilliance. ✓ Great game,want moreI actually stopped in the middle to write this review because I was so disappointed. This game has been fantastic, engaging, and entertaining, UNTIL... the part where you have to swing the brothers by a rope around a cliff. There were NO instructions or references to anything like this in the tutorial at the start, or the gameplay thus far. I actually thought it was some kind of bug at first, until, in my frustration, I accidentally made one brother fall so he was dangling. I went to setting, and looked at how to use the controls. Nothing. I even googled a walkthrough because I was enjoying it so much until this point. It took me like 40 minutes and god knows how many tries to figure it out. You have to touch the screen (not the joystick,which moves all over the place anyway) and I figured it out by trial and error. In my frustration I have given 3 stars, but I will come back when I finish and give another rating. If this game keeps going like the first part, it is 5 stars all the way. But these iOS controls are NOT intuitive, and some minimal guidance would make the experience a million times better. Rant over Now I’ve finished, and i changed to 5 stars because I cannot give 10 stars. Fantastic game despite small issues with controls.Version: 1.7.1

✓ One game you will never forgetI just finished Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons and I’m left speechless. If you’ve got a film, book or piece of music that leaves an impression and no matter how many times you watch/read/listen to it you’re moved, this game belongs along side them. It’s hard to write a review without including spoilers so all I can say is that this title deserves to win awards. It is well written, beautifully put together, and so very original. As for the critical reviews saying it’s not in English, these people have missed the point. It’s not in any language, it’s totally made up for the fictitious world in which the characters live. You don’t need a translated, it’s self-explanatory what they’re saying. In actual fact you get drawn into their language and learn it very quickly. I can understand some reviews criticising the controls, but if you go into settings and change to the secondary control style, it works perfectly fine. I look forward to this studio’s releases in the future with great interest, but I for sure will never delete this game off my iPad..Version: 1.7.2

The controls are on the one hand clunky, but on the other hand serve to draw you into the game, and play a critical role in making you feel the presence and absence of the brothers as you go through the game. ✓ Great game, minor flawsThe two brothers mean that you have two controls to operate. You can do this one after the other with much of the game (though its slow to progress if you do this) but some parts you need to work both controls together (with different actions) . Quirky but quite quick to get used to. The music is haunting and serene and the graphics are beautiful. The whole thing is very tranquil to play and at times slightly creepy for perhaps very young kids but nothing too bad. Its a big game , see details, around 1.7 Gb I think, but on my iPad Air2 I had no problems loading and in around 8 hours of play (not finished it yet) I've had just the one crash but the marker points are fairly regular so I just restarted and carried on. Apart from that the whole thing has been very smooth. Generally its fairly forgiving and even if you do make a mistake your character just re-appears after a brief blackout and on you go. It doesn't have the variety of puzzles like 'Machinarium' or 'The room' , the puzzles are more the dextrous variety rather than mentally challenging on the whole. Its a great adventure which is both beautiful and atmospheric..Version: 0.1.0

The storyline is perfect, and I think you can really connect with the characters. It is a childish sort of game but has hints of darkness in there, which I like. This game made me cry like a baby. I love this game and I love to play it, how you have to figure out how to do things and get to control both brothers! But there’s 2 things that I don’t like. I find it very tricky controlling both the brothers as it’s very confusing which one your controlling, but you get the hang of it I guess. But my second thing is that, it sort of lost my attention when it got up to the bits with the giant dead people and the people who hung them selves, those bits are really messed up, and lost my attention to the game, I don’t play it as much now, because those bits messed me up, as good as this game is, I don’t think those bits were really necessary..Version: 1.7.1

This isn't a game if you're looking for action. I can see how people get frustrated with the controls, but its not hard, its just different and tales getting used to. The interaction of the 2 control sticks to coordinate the characters is challenging, which is great in a game, gamers need challenge. It is a short game easily finished in 3 hours which might put people off. All in all, if you appreciate style and storytelling, this emotionally engaging story is a no brainer. Had a few crashes on my iPad Air 1, but it seemed to recover from them quickly enough (and there's a save option in the menu). Graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is ingenious and the ending is ... well, just play it. The controls work as well as virtual sticks do - never ideal but good enough. ✓ Amazing concept and game!I am in love with this game. It is so involving yet simple. The story and atmosphere are so charming. It is a steal at £2.99. I have already recommended it to a good few of my friends. Playing on the new iPhone X though is not as good. For some reason the game screen is not optimised and you can see the top and bottom of the screen is not adjusted and leaves black bars of about 2mm of empty screen. Also, when mirroring to AppleTV via AirPlay the aspect ratio does not fill up a widescreen TV and there is black all around the game screen. Looks terrible. Aspect ratio is unfortunately the problem with an iPhone X and tbh all AirPlay Mirroring looks so narrow now via an iPhone X. Is there anything you can do to make the mirroring experience better for your beautiful game?!.Version: 1.7.1

✓ Way Too Underrated.This is a game that has an amazing story plot, astonishing graphics which can be seen from different angles, and a one of the most easy yet convenient control. The puzzles in the game need some thinking, but are not difficult. Plus, there are tones of tones of tiny details that congregate to make this game one of the best. ✓ A fantastic achievement - don't underestimateThis is not like most games. No heart-racing battles, power ups, gems to collect or that malarkey. It is quite linear, the puzzles aren't too hard, so I can see why people criticise it. But it IS an amazing journey, through staggering environments, with an interesting control twist (2 characters working together) as the game takes you through a great story, which is at times quite moving and atmospheric. ✓ Some ups and downs to the game.🤷♀️🤷♀️First of all the controls are terrible! I can barely even make the brothers walk smoothly without having one of them walk into a wall! Second of all the graphics are horrible! Whenever the weird ugly troll with mushrooms growing out of his pale un tanned back climbs up a wall you can see his hands glitching a lil. Now to the positive stuff. I love ❤️ the levels and the sense of nature! the game just never gets boring! During some parts the game is just kinda a stress reliever, for example canoeing through the smooth beautiful water and walking through the beautiful woods. ✓ Amazing graphics, but frustrating controlsI started the game annoyed as even the simplest of movements couldn't be achieved with the dual controls. This was an issue throughout the game - I think because the characters swap over to a different side of the screen, so it's confusing who you are controlling. However I did get into the game after a bit and the idea of playing two characters simultaneously, both of whom help each other but also have their own personalities in the way they interact with the world, was a nice one. The graphics are beautiful for an iPad game, you can tell real care has been taken with them. The puzzles were just right for me; challenging enough to be enjoyable, without having to follow a walk through the entire time! ✓ Worth your attention, though slightly flawedBrothers is definitely worth your attention. It is a great looking game (although sometimes there is blurring when objects are too close to the 'camera'). And the music is very atmospheric. There were a couple of bugs that I could only work around by restarting at the previous checkpoint, and one point where I had to restart a whole chapter to progress. Fortunately that only involved about 10 minutes of replaying. If these nearly-game-ruining glitches are fixed then I'd have no major issues and would urge anyone to download. As it is, the bugs were infrequent enough to not ruin everything, so it's still deserving of a good score. It's not a difficult game. And it's quite short. But it is good fun whilst it lasts. I don't want this review to seem negative - 4/5 clearly shows I liked it. I recommend Brothers, but would advise to be aware that there may be a few bugs and glitches. I hardly liked fantasies with fantasy creatures because they were too idealistic for me, but this is great!!! I loved how they combined fantasy elements with a realistic world. It helps you accept reality insteading of escaping like other fantasies do. And unlike fantasies, the game requires you to use your brain to solve situations rather than using magic to get out of them. I love this story! It’s pretty serious, but very good morals.
