Stealing money this web app is criminal!!!!I signed up a while ago. Apparently I keep getting charged money with no way to stop. My email is not registered and I have no way to contact anyone to stop paying or get my email account. This is criminal and not cool. I trusted the history channel but as with all network tv I am disappointed!!!! Do not purchase and do not get suckered into paying for this useless channel. I have NEVER been able to log in but I have been charged for this account for years!!!!.Version: 4.3.3

Can’t sign up; and can’t sign in ☹️Having an account previously, I try to sign in but get “Incorrect Entry The email/address password combination does not match our records. Please try again.” After doing that a number of times, I hit, “forgot password” just in case I actually did. I get the response they will send a link to establish a new password. However, on that link when I asked them to do so, they tell me I have an email address that’s already established, and please sign in. It’s a constant merry go round I can’t get a new password and I can’t establish a new account. Apparently they don’t want me watching HISTORY. 😠.Version: 7.3.7

Awful 👎With a lack of available content, it’s barely worth the price of the free trial. With so much they could offer, this is very disappointing. Better History Channel content on YouTube..Version: 5.1.9

DecentIt charged me during the free trial and it doesn’t have all the same episodes the History app does. I found more then this season missing and many series are not there either. I would think you should have people pay for the other app and not make us connect a tv provider, why should we need that we can just pay for it through apple..Version: 7.3.0

InconsistentI was enjoying the programs history vault offered but after only 2 days of use it will no longer load on my firetv or apple app and says no internet connection. I have reset my internet and all of my other streaming services are working just fine and at fast speed. A ridiculous waste of time and money.Please, don’t waste your money on this app. CuriosityStream is less than half the price and you can actually watch their content. History Vault absolutely terrible. No matter what video you try to watch you’ll get a “Error, cannot load video” message and despite several updates to the app since I subscribed, there have been no improvements to this fundamental issue. What are you updating if the app doesn’t actually let you watch the content?! I should be able to give no stars for an expensive app that fails to preform at a rudimentary level..Version: 5.1.3

Portions of each epppy edited out; Not all series or eppysUPDATE: Despite all its flaws was going to subscribe for a month or maybe it’s 3 months for $10 promo. However, almost every episode has PORTIONS EDITED OUT. Most happen right after breaks that used to be commercials, but some occur right in the middle of dialogue and take out portions of scenes and even dialogue (if you have subtitles on, you can sometime see a little of what was edited out). Not sure if it’s incompetence or some other strange reason, but it’s VERY annoying and you miss info. ——— Before the History channel became a reality tv channel tailored to one demographic, it actually had a good stable of historical series. Most of them are here. However, some (like Secrets of War) are completely missing. And others, like Megadisasters and many other series, only have like half the episodes for some reason. On the iPad app (with the latest iOS), you can only view s1 of any series. Also, you have to cancel your subscription/trial at least 24 hrs before the last day, something which I’ve not seen before and that’s obviously meant to trick you into subscribing, pretty low. A shame, as I wouldn’t mind rewatching some old series and even in the last 10 yrs they’ve added a few good historical series.Version: 6.0.4

Will not cast to TVApp will not cast to TV. Support knows this (read other reviews) but has done nothing to fix it. The support page says to make sure I have the latest version (I do) and beyond that they blame my devices (check and reboot Chromecast device, check my tablet, etc.) I can cast from other apps but not this. Content is improving, App performance is not.I’ve subscribed to Vault now since nearly the beginning of it’s launch and while I will say that the amount of content has improved, the performance of the app certainly has not. Whether I watch it on my iPad, iPhone, or via my Roku, it crashes regularly. Sometimes I’ll launch the app and the entire home page isn’t visible, and then relaunch and it is again. If I am trying to binge a series and click to the next episode? Crashes and has to re-launch again. With the sheer breadth of apps and ways to watch historical programs available, I expect more from the History Channel if I’m paying the monthly premium..Version: 6.0.2

Lack of Continuity across DevicesI should begin by stating that I value the content provided by this application. BUT.. I must say that it is close to impossible to search for a desired program. For example: On iOS devices as well as Roku (I’m not a consumer of any other cord-cutting options..with the exception of Apple TV 4K.) The GUI within the Apple TV app is in no way similar to all other points of access to History Vault on iOS devices as well as Roku. Other devices offer a menu feature labeled “Collections” I rather like this feature as it is easy to seek out what i have been watching and continue doing so. My reasoning to gripe is two fold: First, ther is no “Collection” option in the Apple TV app, which makes viewing options difficult to locate. But even more frustrating is the uselessness of the search option within the tvOS app. You can literally type the name of the show you had been watching on an iPhone/iPad/Roku.. and no search results appear. You can’t type the name of the show. If you’re lucky you can type in the name of the episode within the series and it MAY show up. I have found as well that the name of of typed episode must have all the letters correctly capitalized. ?? Again, I enjoy access to the content, but the efficiently of the service would improve infinitely if consistent options were universally available across all digital platforms, as well as some fervent attention to he application’s search capabilities. Hot garbageThere doesn't appear to be one single show that has all of the episodes, which is great if you want to watch episodes 1, 5, and 8 of a show that had a dozen episodes. I guess. It will also suggest shows that aren't available in Canada, and when you click them it says there is "a connection error", there isn't your connection works fine, they're just yanking your chain. Unless you like ancient aliens there is not wnough content here for the price. Unsubscribed.Version: 6.1.7

Horrible Customer ServicePlease do not purchase any subscription from this company/app. I had signed up for trail run that had a 1 month subscription. The account said in active but when I went to check on the account it stated you are subscribed. I made a complaint and got one email back 2-3 days later no response horrible service while trying to sucker me into the completion of the 5 days trail to kick start there monthly subscription that I would never been able to use. I email this company more than 6 times and I can tell you they don’t care about there app nor the customer. This is by far the worst customer service someone could get and I ask the question why is your app is on the App Store if your company has abandoned the service as proven through my emails and past reviews. To everyone out there do not become victim of this company trying to rob you for subscription money and ghost like customer service No rating no stars just Minus Zero.Version: 5.1.6

Quality programs, when it worksLove the content, and when you get to an actual episode, it’s a great service. Getting there is a chore on both Apple and Firestick. I usually can navigate from section to section, but selecting an actual episode is difficult and often leads to a restart. 4,5,6 attempts later and I usually can get it to work. Thanks for nothingI was excited to see some of the older history channel shows and that I could finally stream them. I signed up got a free week was 100% wanting to pay monthly for the service but after I signed up through iTunes it won’t let me sign in. The app keeps telling me my email is wrong but when I try to set up a new one it keeps telling me I’ve already set up an account. I never got to set a password. Plus usually when I subscribe through iTunes I can just restore a subscription purchase. What am I doing wrong?.Version: 5.1.1

History loverUnfortunately I’m canceling this service. I originally was excited to pay for shows that knew were older but unavailable on the history channel app. I watched one show. Then it became unavailable. The search functionality on this in painful. I had to use my Roku device to find the show I wanted to watch. This app seems to be more of a history “back room” than a vault. I’d happily pay for this again if this app was truly a vault and I could watch the rare programs that used to be on here..Version: 5.1.5

Too little too lateI love the programs that are offered, but after not being able to watch ANY videos for at least 4 months, nor even open the app for the past 6 weeks or so, coupled with a lack of response and help from the customer service, and the inability to watch certain videos since my subscription started, I still can’t give this app any more than 1 star. You took my money for a 1 year subscription and have given me maybe 6 months worth of functional service. App Subscriptions such a fraud!!First they tease you with a FREE app, then they tell you it will require a subscription. Then you have to pay monthly, and when you do, you will forget and waste money month after month, then there is no link to get to the programs, and when you find other links they require a other login, and the Apple fingerprint and password doesn’t work, then you cannot login, and then you have to go through “forgot password”, and then you give up in disgust... Typical misleading trial period1- no cancel subscription link in the settings menu within the app like it said there would be when I signed up. 2- need to contact IN WRITING to cancel, contrary to what was said when I signed up. You know how it is to cancel in writing. 3- after contacting in writing, they sent a link to cancel via WEBSITE, NOT APP, which is broken or does not exist. Seriously? 4- TBD after them “verifying” my account didn’t exist, I sent a screenshot with my email up top. Still waiting. Watching my credit card. My trial period ends tomorrow. UPDATE: I just received a response from A&E. Please refer back to number 1 in my review and remember, that option in settings does NOT exist. Read their response prior to signing up. Awesome content, bad appThe contents are awesome. But the app maker has done a bad job. It does not let me watch shows on cellular data, tells me to change network settings even though I have already enabled it on cellular. The downloaded videos cannot be watched unless I have network, at least to begin with, so what is the point of downloading? I can just stream it. The whole point of downloading is to be able to watch it when there is no network..Version: 6.1.4

Screwed up!Decided to try the free 7 days to see the content. Wouldn't let me past the sign up page and kept looping. Finally got to the registration and subscription page. Very disappointing: Only some episodesAs a longtime History Channel fan, I was stunned to pay for this only to find that only five of the two dozen episodes of “Unknown Civil War” were available. And they were random rather than sequential. I subscribed assuming that I would have access. This is more like a promotional come-on rather than a legitimate paid membership. Oh, and btw it’s not inexpensive! What an amateurish, badly planned, bonehead way to run a business based on sophisticated viewer support. New updated content please!I do like history documentaries, and I see a lot a potential to this subscription but, I would like more new content like the recent added show “ two degrees: point of no return”. I love this that it was new with great definition and updated. I would also like to see shows from the history of Latin America region. Not sure what's wrong but.....I was really looking forward to sitting on the toilet to poop and watching videos from this app instead of facebooking. The app will not allow you to watch videos, it just asks you to sign up for a free trial but does not send you a link to confirm or anything. It will not go past the free trial page. Won’t even let me log inSigned up and got a 7 day free trial, get to the end to finalize, and it said an error had occurred. So I go to check my subscriptions, it shows active, and then I checked my email, nothing from them, not even in the junk folder. So I waited about 24 hours checked everything again, Active, and Nothing. So I canceled it, and before I did i checked to see if I could get support for this issue, and the support FAQ’s sentences were so long, that I couldn’t read the whole thing to be able to make a selection. I really do like History’s older programs about actual history, before pawn stars and american pickers took over the entire line up, and I’m a little disappointed, and would need my trial reimbursed (which in itself will not happen) to even think about trying this again. DisappointedWe are trying our hardest to save money & part of this was cutting our cable bill. We decided to get the History vault because in the description sounds like you are able to get all programming or able to get the History Channel to watch the series that we look forward to watching throughout the year. Content is great, app not so muchI can’t favorite shows to watch later. The only way to get them into the My Videos tab is to download them. Also the search is wonky. For instance I search for Hunting Hitler and nothing shows up but I can go into the collections and scroll, s roll, scroll and there it is. Fix these issues and I would definitely give a 5 star. Accessibility? I don’t think so.This application is extremely clumsy and difficult to use with voiceover. For a media company it is disgraceful to present your quality productions in this manner. I have read your accessibility statement, it is not true. You are not committed to accessibility for all. At least be honest in your statement. ContentYou should make preview images and titles available to anyone. This way people would be able to see if it is worth it. If the see a program they would be interested in, then they can sign up. I was looking at this as a possible means for a different take on homeschooling history to my kiddos but I don’t want to give my credit card and then have to go through the pain of canceling just because I cannot see what is offered. I would be willing to pay $15 a month if this program had viable things to teach my kids. I am NOT just looking for the typical shows seen on the history channel. A and E scam !!!!!Attention all users. (Most docs are 10 plus years old) This app will charge you twice. Once in American dollars and once in Canadian for a total of 14 dollars a month. The only app on ITunes Canada that somehow also gives you an American subscription! Once this happens no content is available. Very easily the worst app I have ever downloadedThis is easily the worst app I have ever downloaded. Application freezes on the loading “Go Beyond” screen 9 out of 10 times. Once it freezes on this screen the app must be deleted and reinstalled. If by some miracle you are able to get the app to load, it simply doesn’t work, freezes constantly and when not working or freezing, the app spends its time crashing. App is not capable of downloading and/or playing any of the videos on it Let’s see, other problems. Can’t download videos, just says “preparing download” never progresses. Streaming doesn’t work either, Any time you get an episode to start streaming the application freezes and/or crashes Any app developer who had any involvement in this application should probably give up on their career and find something more there pace, maybe pan-handling or juggling, because the developers have completely failed to deliver a functional product.Version: 5.1.3

Audio cuts outGreat content but older shows like biography are completely unwatchable. For example, Biography on Patton the audio drops in and out constantly. Tried doing closed captioning and just read when the audio dropped. But then about 20 mins in the video drops too. Newer shows seem ok. No audio or video issues. But the older shows will be hit and miss whether audio works. Would have kept subscription but not worth it if the shows aren’t watchable..Version: 7.0.0

UselessThe only reason I wanted to download this app and pay for it is to have access to Vikings. The fake you with a documentary called Vikings, not the actual series. Same title, not the same show. I would give this 0 stars if that was possible for the following reasons: 1. We, the consumers, are too stupid to search for shows we want to watch. No search capability. You know, type somethings and you get a list of results. The 1999 technology. Similar comment from another user prompted an idiotic response from the ‘developer’ of this app. It is mind bending. 2. Not one popular show form the History channel. Just go to the history channel app and see what they present, nothing of interest is in the Vault. You would think the Vault would contain all their best shows, wouldn’t you? The Vault, otherwise call it Basement. 3. You pay money for this. This is not a free app so you would not expect only rejected and not so popular shows. Charge us $16 and up if you provide the quality. I would pay and I expect many would pay too. 4. A small list of shows that is not even organized in a logical manner is the only way to interact within this app. The user experience rivals nothing that I can think of since Al Gore invented the internet. Truly horrible with lack of vision and basic understanding of your customer’s needs..Version: 3.2.4

Getting better, needs playback when lockedThe app is getting better, and older content is slowly being added. The app really needs to be able to continue playback when the phone is locked or the app is in the background. One of my favorite things about History Channel documentaries is that I can listen without the need to watch: great for doing chores, multitasking, etc. If the app could play in the background, it would be 5 stars..Version: 5.2.4

Absolutely horrible.I can’t even get passed the step of creating an account, when entering a passcode which is more than 6 characters , it keeps mentioning to enter more than 6 characters. I sure wish it worked!I never take the time to write a negative review- only positive ones. So this is my first, only because I do want this to be resolved so I can enjoy the exciting content your team has worked so hard to produce. I have sent 3 requests for help but only get a generic template response with zero help each time. 1. I signed up and paid. 2. I selected my favorite films to download so i can watch on my many off line travels. 3. None of them download even with super fast WIFI for long period of time. App and brand new iPad open and operating with no sleep on. 4. Now I check again and 5. App crashes almost every time I select “my videos” 6. I delete app and reload it again. 7. It asks me to sign in- I do and it goes to payment page. No options. So I click on payment again- Yes I was actually willing to pay twice in hopes I can view your content. Then I get a message that reads something to the effect that “you already paid” and no other option to move out of that screen. 8. I have a company that builds apps. I’m not educated on the subject but am an investor who has seen many apps during the quality process and for sure we would have never released an app with all of these bugs. 9. Crashes CONSTANTLY and needs more contentThis app crashes constantly on firestick and roku. The history channel app has the same problem and has for years. I am paying for this and want this issue fixed so I can actually watch the content. Speaking of content, more needs to be added. Don’t you want to stay competitive with other streaming services? Put more documentaries and put the shows people love on the app that people are paying for. Curse of Oak Island and Vikings need to be on here. Want to keep your customers and keep them happy? I have been subscribed for over two yearsI have been subscribed for over two years, just today app doesn’t recognize me , or my email, the password reset don’t work. So fine I just cancelled my subscription. If you ever get this fixed great, but you owe me as now I can’t use it even after deleting app and trying new subscription as it still recognizes my email! ,,,until log in, then it says email address not in our system!
