✓ Absolutely IncredibleI have never written an app review before, but I Love Hue deserves as much praise as it can get. This is simple yet challenging, incredibly satisfying (dare I say addicting), and visually stunning. As someone with OCD, I have found this game to be an amazing substitute for certain rituals as well as a great coping mechanism. It’s soothing and relaxing. Each stage comes with calm, zen-like messages that are just pleasant to read. I’ve played through every single level multiple times until I beat the world average in each one, partly due to perfectionism but also so I could get compliments such as “iridescent moonbeam” and “glorious butterfly.” There are no “pay to play” features, no subscriptions, and while there ARE ads, they are extremely tolerable. Ads come up very rarely, and always between levels so there’s no risk of interruption. Plus, in my experience they have always been skippable. Overall, this has been my favorite game for almost three years now and is by far the best color-sorting game I’ve come across. This morning, I downloaded I Love Hue Too and I am already hooked! I have read reviews where people say it costs money, yet I have accumulated enough hearts and prisms to unlock everything without the need to spend cash. I have been telling everyone about this gem! As a former art student and artist, I feel this game is really a study in color. It’s a zen-like experience that both calms and excites at the same time. I love that it doesn’t gouge my wallet and I can just sit back and enjoy the game. I absolutely love seeing how the shades of color play against each other. Once a square is placed in its proper position ones brain can immediately tell. What once looked off in shade suddenly registers in the brain and the puzzle starts to take shape. I am addicted to this game and enjoy seeing how my score ranks against other players. My best score was 77 moves over a 223 move world average. I was impressed with myself, that’s for sure! I think anyone who wishes to better understand color and how shades can interact with others should play this game. You will see how amazing it is. ✓ Fun and Fair In-Game CurrencyFirst of all, organizing things has always relaxed me. So a game organizing colored tiles to match a gradient scale? Count me in! In order to play a level, you must spend the in-game currency, “prisms”. From what I have seen so far, a level only uses 3 prisms. That’s pretty decent, since they start you off with about 100. What’s even better is you can watch an ad to earn more prisms. I’m not saying the ad is better, what I’m saying is you earn 15 prisms per ad. That’s 5 whole levels of play for a 30-second ad! I’ve never seen such high rewards in other games, and I love that. Definitely worth watching a 30 second ad. The levels themselves become more challenging as they go along, but not to the point where they are impossible. I’m constantly looking for something to ease my anxieties, weighted blankets, lavender oil diffusers, prescription pills, but this game is truly working. It’s just challenging enough (so far) and the puzzles vary enough that I’m not yet tired of them or can recognize them as similar. I’ll admit I have not tried with sound but it’s only because I have my own calming sounds I play. ✓ Beautiful & relaxingAfter I finished all the levels of I Love Hue 2, I immediately downloaded I Love Hue—I needed more Hue in my life! These games are so relaxing and pretty. The perfect way to unwind. Beautifully simple without being overly easy! I love the progression of complexity/difficulty as you work through the levels. The higher levels are little micro-challenges, but are totally stress free because they aren’t unsolvable and there’s no time pressure. The concept behind the games is also quite charming and really adds to the relaxing vibe. The only 'complaint' I have is that for certain levels you really have to have your brightness all the way up to be able to differentiate the tiles. It’s only an issue when playing at a time when you won’t have access to a charger anytime soon, as the full brightness drains the battery. But the easy fix is that if I’m not at home I play I Love Hue 2 because I’ve found I can play with a dimmer screen. Overall, it’s no big issue. ✓ Color theory that’s fun!I took color theory as part of a BA degree in art, and a few refresher classes following that. I’m currently in a class that focuses on hue, value, and saturation. It is sometimes difficult to see the subtle differences that create those classifications. This game helps train the eye to see that. Especially if you use it in that way be staying aware of what is happening in the gradients. That being said, you can also just work the puzzles for enjoyment. The music and beautiful colors are easy on the ears and eyes, and therefore very relaxing. Plus, I enjoy being called a “shining rainbow”, and “beautiful unicorn” (or close to that), when I beat the world average for number of moves made. I don’t know what I can say about this that hasn’t already been said but I can sure agree with all the positive reviews I’ve come across. Visuals, atmosphere, levels, ads, everything is so perfectly managed in this app. It’s all simple but truly wonderful. It’s an incredibly fun game to play but if I’m being honest I don’t usually open the game to have fun. At the end of the day this is my comfort app and it has been for a long time now. In moments where I feel incredibly stressed or anxious, both outdoors and in, opening the app and solving the stunning ombré puzzles always helps calm me down. I’m not one to stick to one gaming app for too long. I’ll usually complete it and/or get bored of it and proceed to replace it with something new. Same with apps that I download to help with anxiety or nerves. I end up switching them up because I never end up satisfied but this has certainly stayed with me for a while and it’ll definitely stay with me for a lot longer. ✓ So Calming exactly as AdvertisedI absolutely hate how most apps now are not as advertised or have ads popping up every 3 seconds. This app is so good. It’s like a mix of jigsaws and puzzle. There aren’t many ads and you have the option to remove them but purchasing in game packs starting at just £1.80. You need triangles to unlock each puzzle but you get 15 each day and can get 15 free by watching a small ad. The £1.80 gives you 125 I think. Each puzzle you unlock for 3 triangles you can replay for 1. But you also earn hearts and you have to get so many hearts to unlock to the next difficulty set of puzzles. I would love it if, in addition to the world average number a moves given for each level, they also gave the number expressing the fewest possible moves needed to solve the puzzle. Also another thing I like is it doesn’t have a limit on moves or a certain time you have to do it in unlike most other relaxing games . When you put the tiles into the correct slots and you can see the blending of colors and shades line up it is strangely pleasing. I find myself smiling often while playing this game. You beat the world average!” And then others such as “Superb!” I suppose it’s nice that the messages are positive, but I hardly notice them. The ads are a bit too often, and I enjoyed the game so I bought prisms to remove the ads. The game gives free prisms daily and you can watch ads to get extra. I’ve played a few ads while doing other things to stock up some prisms- it seems you can play at least five per day, possibly more. All in all, the amount of prisms per ad watched and the amount per round seem fair. (Obviously, I’d prefer no prisms, but I understand that isn’t how games often work). My only criticism so far, which resulted in 4 vs 5 stars and prompted me to write a review, is it’s very difficult to see the tile under my finger when the tiles are smaller (such as the puzzles that are 9 x 11 or greater). I like to pick up and drag the tiles next to similarly colored tiles to compare but my finger winds up covering the tile I’m holding and I either drop it accidentally or have to put it down and waste a move that I wouldn’t have otherwise used. ✓ A perfect puzzle gameI blow through games on my phone like no one's business. Usually, I'll keep one for a few days before I get bored of it. Most games on the app store follow the same game design with the same monetization strategy. Not Hue. I love hue is a beautiful game that is designed to be fun and challenging, rather than pull every dime out of your wallet. There are SO many puzzles. I was very pleased with the game when I thought it had only one page of puzzles, but it has three pages, each with several sets that contain at least ten each, usually twenty five though. All of this is free. It's amazing. There's nothing in this that pushes you to buy the in app purchases, which is a major plus for me. You use prisms to play, but you are given more than enough daily to pay a few rounds, and if you need more without wanting to pay, there's an option to watch ads for a very good amount of prisms in return. It's a refreshing change. The puzzles themselves are beautiful. I love the gradients used for them. There's no time limit to complete them, and while there is a statistic showing you how many moved it took you to complete a puzzle as compared to the world average, you can turn that off if you desire. This game really is worth your time. Honestly, if you do get it, I'd consider throwing a few dollars towards the developers (I have, and doing so also turns off ads in the game). ✓ Love this so much!I was looking for little games to play at my school when I had free time or just bored in general and I found this game. I was a little skeptical at first because I’m not the best a puzzles or just puzzle games in general. But I still downloading it because I at least wanted to try it to know. The very first level had me hooked immediately. I love that colors and I like that there is nothing extra to it. You just organize the colors to make it look nice. I also especially love the sounds that this app makes. There is a low almost bass sound when you move the tile and I love it. ✓ Fun and differentThis game is more fun and challenging than I expected. There’s no music in the background for me like other reviews mentioned enjoying. I don’t know why I don’t have the music (yes, I have the sound on and volume up). I don’t like that there is no option to quit a layout if you get stuck; you have to solve it to get out. They definitely get harder as you progress. I can’t say I find it “relaxing” because the puzzles are challenging, but it’s great that there’s no timer, no hints, no maximum number of moves, so there’s no pressure like some games have. You can take your time. I paid the $1.99 to get rid of the ads between puzzles - its certainly worth two dollars! I’ve already spent several hours playing and I’m almost through the third level.
