✓ Disappointing reset to level oneHave enjoyed Letter Soup for some time. However for the THIRD time the game has reset itself to level one. ?????? I can’t find anywhere on the game screens to explain this or for information on how to contact any type of support. The first time it reset, I was able to contact someone and it was corrected but they explained it had happened when I transferred to a new phone. Now again I had transferred the game to a new phone and I just started the game as if new. But now it unexpectedly just dropped the game back to level one and I don’t know why. I know I was a lot further up on the levels the last time I played, so I don’t think this is why. Can anyone explain this? Are we “limited” in how many levels we can play? If so, I guess I’m done with your game and will find another word game..Version: 12.15
✓ Like the game…..butThe option to “watch an advert” for a free hint often freezes the game. The only option is to kill the game and start again, never used to be like this, perhaps the developers are trying to push users to buy hints, very frustrating, and ultimately a shame because it’s spoilt what was a pretty good game.Version: 14.2
✓ Long time playerEdit: if you want to keep playing and eliminate the giant ad banner over the bowl turn your device to Aeroplane mode and banner won’t show. Been playing this for 3 years and it’s been great till the latest update. NEW Advertising update has splashed a giant running banner across the sight line on the bowl edge. This is unpleasant and distracting to the point of ruining the momentum of the game. I will check in to see if removed but till then moving to another word game. ✋.Version: 14.0
✓ Tesla ad won’t go awayThe game is great; however to receive your free hints after playing soup of the day you must watch a 30 second ad. Now there is a Tesla rant that never ends and you can’t delete it and collect your free hints. Very low budget. I’m not playing any more..Version: 12.15
✓ Disappointed; Deleted ItThought I liked this app. I was a professional writer and editor for many years, so I find most word games too easy. This was pretty good once I was past the lower levels. It’s free to install and play, but you have to buy “hints,” which I did. I started to get annoyed when it didn’t recognize certain legitimate words and did recognize some slang that would probably be challenged in Scrabble. (Doesn’t recognize “lea,” which means “pasture,” for instance, but does recognize “bro.”) Then it really irked me by IMO tricking me into using up my hints. I struggled to figure out the last word in one game, was forced to use a bunch of hints, and it turned out to be the plural of a word it wouldn’t accept the singular of. 😡 I actually emailed the makers and accused them of “cheating” to stump you and make you buy more “hints.” No response. Also if you accidentally delete the app (I swear, my iPhone does it on its own), you’re back to the bottom level. I emailed them about that, too, and heard nothing. So I’ve deleted it. ✓ Painfully GenericAs an aspiring game designer, these kinds of games frustrate me. Y’know, the kind that’s juuuust polished enough to be appealing, but never tries to be anything more than popular, instead dedicating resources to marketing. While playing this, I get ads for a game that looks identical to this one, but cookie themed. Why would I play this over that one, or vice versa? Nothing sets them apart but the color of the background. Give the game a little personality, just because it’s a puzzle game doesn’t mean it has to be bland! Don’t get me wrong, this game is fine, but it’s painfully generic, and there are many more developers more passionate and creative who deserve your time..Version: 7.5

✓ Issues with free hintI’m lowering my review of this app to 2. I’ve been playing for a while now and there is no rhyme or reason to your advancement. I worked my way semi logically to a couple of different chefs then was a Barista 2 times in a row and now I’m a head waiter. Seems like the more levels you pass the worse job you get. Not that getting a promotion is all that exciting. I think there needs to be more incentive to keep playing. Mine is dwindling. ✓ Getting on my nerves!I play games more than I want to admit. A friend starting playing Letter Soup and sent an invite to download as she was promised $3.99 for generating more players. I downloaded as per her text request. I played, not my favorite game but thought I would give it a try. She did not (nor I) receive the $3.99 credit. Worst of all, I getting texts all hours, in her name, notifying me of her progress! I turned notifications off completely but, unless I block her from sending a text message to me, I can’t get rid of these unwanted text messages from appearing on my phone. I deleted the game because of this and hope no one gets texts going out from my number. Not appreciated or wanted! Game is a way to gain access to your contacts and messaging..Version: 7.2
✓ Nice but lacks quality controlSeveral upgrades ago the “dictionary” link was removed and some of the words are suspect. So one cannot go see on what basis a certain word was used, when I know it is not standard English. Perhaps Merriam-Webster has relaxed their protocol.... Also—NOTE TO DEVELOPERS— ads we watch to get a free hint, like the current Angry Birds 2 that do not have a time limit and a link-X for closing it, but just keep repeating “Download” screen at the end, endlessly, are NOT acceptable and will drive users away. I don’t like having to close the game app to get rid of an ad, ever. What if I already have that app? Get rid of those ads, please, or you will be getting rid of a long-time player. ✓ Developer’s answer has nothing to do with my postI enjoyed this game. I got to Terminal Cafe, Level 5995 of Soup Czar, 190% complete. Then I was sent back to Level 1 of Terminal Cafe with no explanation. I have sent 3 requests to tech support asking why. I have yet to receive any answer other than the canned one that says they will get back to me but they never do. I have no desire to replay levels. Therefore I can’t recommend this game. If I’m at the end and no more levels are coming tell me so. Then I’ll delete the game and find a new one. At least have the courtesy to answer me and explain. ✓ Could be betterThere are a lot of similar word games so this one has a theme. The theme has nothing to do with game. You can be in an American or Indian restaurant and the choice of words have nothing to do with the culture or even food in general. Which is fine. ✓ Super glitchyI really enjoy this game but the glitches are driving me crazy. Over and over again, after watching an ad in order to receive a free hint, the “x” in the corner freezes and I’m unable to click out of the ad. The only way to return to the game board is to close the app. However after reopening, the earned hint is gone. This has happened to me countless times. ✓ What the hell!!!Was loving this game until I got to Saigon shack upon entering all but one word I was left scratching my head so did a word anagram and has a few words I could try, so I tried Inti,Zein,Cine,Nite,Ziti,Zine and etic. Not one word seemed to fit so I tried twice more taking my time. No luck so I thought to hell with it and bought 10free hints for £1.99p. Tried the hints and the word I couldn’t find was Ziti. ✓ Fun and ChallengingI get a lot of enjoyment from playing this word game and sometimes some frustration when I just can’t seem to find the last word. Normally, if I just “walk away and come back later”, I get it. It keeps my brain working (I’m 78, so this is important!) and gives me a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction when I am successful! My only complaint is that I paid for hints which I still have not received. When I try to re-enter the purchase, I get a message saying that it was already purchased and the hints would be loaded; but while I see the effort being made, the hints never arrive & I can’t find a “Help” location to find out how to make contact so I can get this fixed. Meanwhile, I have to purchase fewer or more hints because I’m stuck in a “spinning loop”..Version: 7.5

✓ Fun, but an issue.Fun and enjoyable game, but there is a serious power issue. When I play the game at night, I tend to fall asleep playing it. When I wake up in the morning, my phone is dead. After some testing, I found that the game doesn't let iOS go to sleep like other games do, if behaves more like a video player, and prevents the screen from shutting off. This is unacceptable! ✓ Annoying ad sequenceIt was a good game but they’ve done something to the ads that makes it really annoying. When I opt for a hint by watching an ad, the ads now are really long and when they finish the screen just locks. If I restart the game I don’t get the hint I should have. Frustrated! ✓ FeedbackOverall I like the game. I had purchased twice hints when you had a deal of 300 hints fir $2.99. However, I only received about 50 each time. At that time their was not a counter to keep track of the hints but it looks like recently you updated that. I’ve been reluctant to make another purchase with the bad experience from the first two. I do like the game though. Maybe if you could find a way to earn hints as you progress to different levels or if you complete a certain percentage of completed words on the timed challenge. ✓ Latest release disappointing - updatedI was unhappy to discover that the daily free hints have disappeared in the latest update. And if that wasn't disappointing enough, the free hints that occasionally pop up that ask you to watch an ad to get a hint still appear. But when you click on them, they don't connect to the ad any longer. I've been enjoying the game very much until this new development. Update: I was delighted to hear from a developer almost immediately after my review posted and to learn they are working on a fix for the problem. They also sent me a coupon for free hints that more than made up for my hassles. Great customer service! My only complaint now is that there are lots of real words this game doesn't recognize, which I do find a little frustrating. But otherwise it's a great game. Update #2: two weeks ago, I was really enjoying this game, but I'm beginning to lose my patience. The free hints have disappeared again, by which I mean they are offered and I watch the ad through only to have the screen freeze and no hint materialize. ✓ Fun game but many technical problemsI liked this game. It’s fun. But occasionally you will need hints to compete a round and that’s where the problems are: 1. In order to get a free hint, you need to watch an ad. Some are 10 seconds, but others are more like 40 seconds. Advertisers must think longer is better but I frankly just resent it and resolve never to buy what’s offered. Seriously, play the game and you’ll see what I mean. 2. The game crashes frequently when you watch the ads. When it does (probably 1 out of 4 or 5 ads), you lose the free hint and have to watch another ad to get the hint. If I was cynical, I’d think this was intentional, but even giving them the benefit of doubt, it’s inept at best. With all the complaints, why can’t they solve this? Or do they prefer not to solve it? 3. Here’s the worst part. If you click through on one of the ads, you don’t get the free hint. That’s right, if you do exactly what the advertisers want you to do - click through to their website or App Store - you lose the free hint and have to watch another ad! They have actually “built in” a major disincentive to patronizing the advertised products! I recommend you don’t get this app until they fix these major problems..Version: 6.3

✓ Which came first the Cookies or the Soup?In the title, I'm referring to Word Cookies & Letter Soup. Sure seems like somebody had an original idea & somebody else had an idea to use a like template. Amazing similarities. I like both games. This one I can tap to define & learn. (Why I like Boy Howdy word games) The ads here a a bit much, plus I don't like buying hints as another reviewer mentioned. (Rather watch a Short ad) This is still a bit buggy. Rather, what got me angry is the time I wasted trying to progress to an apparently non-existent level and their refusal to acknowledge that there is no next level. The apparently-last level involves 1000 time consuming games. There is no option to move on. The only option is to press Play...which returns you to level one. After being stuck playing the same 1000 games over and over again, I wrote them several times to either get help going to the next level or confirm that there is no next level — and they did not even have the courtesy to reply..Version: 12.15

✓ Brutal !I had over 280 hints that I’d amassed as if yesterday on this stupid game and then when I went to play this morning I only had seven ! Incredibly frustrating to the point that I’m going to just finally delete this game for good . I have accidentally hit the repositioned hint button numerous times while playing on the iPhone which is getting really annoying. The previous version was much better. ✓ More Ads than gameIt seems like more ads than game time. I do not mind an occasional ad, but this is ridiculous now. There is an ad in between each board. The “free hint” is a daisy chain of multiple ads clustered together. When ads come up it tries to connect and stream content from third parties. If you have solid WiFi, these 30 second cluster ads take a minute to get through, with you manually manipulating the advancement from one to the other. It used to be a fun game. Now it is a bunch of commercials with occasional game time. Tell your advertisers I am deleting this app from my phone..Version: 7.3
