✓ Bait and stealWish it were a zero. The app said that you could try it for a free trial but it billed my account $20 for the next year. Unscrupulous. Furthermore,It is merely peoples opinion as to whether a product is vegan or not. A third of the items I scanned I had to form my own opinion and they’re using that in their database now for other people to gauge whether or not the product is valid. What’s to prevent the owners of the products from going in and liking all of their things as vegan and giving skewed results. I want my money back..Version: 1.12

✓ This App Did Nothing For MeRunning an iPhone 7 on iOS 11.2.2, all I got when selecting the “carrot” on the main page was a simple camera app. When held up to a number of product barcodes in my own home, nothing scanned. The only options on the screen were [Done], which took you back to the main screen without scanning the product, and the “flash” option to turn the camera flash on. ✓ It’s convenient but still needs workIt’s a great idea and it would be very helpful if the products I want to know are vegan were in their database. I think I’ve gotten a definite answer if a product was vegan once or twice and I attempt to use this app often. If it’s not in the database, it then asks you if the product is vegan. There is no way to resolve this other than doing a chargeback with my bank, no settings or account details on the app itself. ✓ App FunctionalityThere is an issue with the functionality of the app. If you scan a product and rate as thumbs up or thumbs down and submit no problem. BUT you then scan another product and an image of the previous product appears with the name of the new product you have just scanned. So, fire up the app, sign up for a subscription… as we all know, “Free trial” means subscription. It’s on you to cancel. Anyway, I scan the product and it asks me “Do you think this is vegan?”. Now, I understand that it’s crowd-sourced, but to expect someone to pay money to be like “What do you think? Three other people don’t think that it is.” is offensive. I can go on Reddit for crowd opinion without any verification and NOT pay $4.99/wk! (Default Subscription). What stinks is that I’m sure there’s some value here that warrants a 4-star rating, but I’ll never see it. I’m immediately turned off by this ham-fisted subscription model and an app that asks me what I think when I’m looking for answers. Only my therapist can answer my questions with questions. The first item I scanned wasn’t recognised, but I was a bit disappointed to realise that I had to guess whether the product was vegan myself, and either give it a thumbs up or thumbs down. That was an instant thumbs down for the app to be honest. I thought I’d be able to check if a product was vegan by scanning the barcode, just like in My Fitness Pal where you can scan a barcode to find out the calories, carbs, protein etc of a product.
