Poison-202 Vintage Synthesizer for Positive User Reviews

ImpressiveHaven't had this much creative fun on a synth in a long time! Some well crafted presets too.Version: 2.0

Get this!! Now!!Visually inspiring, very easy to use. This is not just yet another iOS synth. It's one of those synths you will keep coming back to over and over. Everything about this synth has been well thought about making it very easy to navigate an produce really great sounds, and being now an Audio Unit makes it very flexible for creating music in your favorite daw. One critique which would make this perfect. add a Noise Waveform as aposed to just a noise effect. Probably even including a 3rd Osc would make this synth complete, Otherwise a great synth that one should have in their music arsenal..Version: 2.0

Poison - The remedy ...Awesome, buy it! 👍.Version: 1.1

Excellent sounding and useable synth.Superb sounds giving something just a little different from the usual 'classic' rebuild. Lots of fun, straightforward programming and plenty of options to play around with. Plus a good set of presets to start you off. This synth is rapidly becoming involved in everything I do in some way or other!.Version: 1.2.1

This is how it should be done!It is hard to believe that this small synth can produce such amazing palette of sounds. Only 11 MB and at the same time light on iPad processor. Mr. Pavlov shows us that he is one very talented designer/engineer..Version: 2.4.5

Favorite Synth !This is an amazing synth! The only app I use for my music projects! Keep up the great work!.Version: 2.3

This is a great synthI love the ease of use and programming. It's also an audio unit extending its capabilities in host apps! This is a hard act to follow. The developer listens to his users!.Version: 2.0

AwesomeNot been into synths long but this one is amazing. I've managed to create some huge sounding patches. The interface is very easy to understand and fun to use. Poison needs some updating to bring it into line with other synths on the AppStore, but as version 1 it is well worth the price. I'm pretty sure the developer will be adding audiobus support as well as all the other connection options that make iPad so good for mobile musicians. One last thing ... Buy It!.Version: 2.0

Nice designLovely easy to use interface. Very Roland sounding. Begs to be an AU. A few small niggles out of the gate, but well worth buying! Update: ok so it's now an AU and has had other fixes. Everyone should buy it it's that simple!.Version: 1.2.1

I totally recommend it.Nice instruments, some of the are supercool. Nice job. More more..Version: 2.1

Amazing!Sweet and powerful synth! Works very well with Garage Band. Very thick and rich textures, lots of control, tons of presets and room to save your own creations. Better on an iPad but still great on iPhone 8. Thanks to the devs for a great app!.Version: 2.4.4

Prodigy Influenced hard edge sounds - lovelyStylish UI, feature packed but simple to use and navigate, with awesome presets and sound make this a goto synth on the iPad for me. Love The Prodigy influenced hard edge sounds. Good job Jim..Version: 2.4

Great app, light on resourcesThis is probably my most-used plug-in. It's very capable and stable, and it's not a resource hog like some other synths on the app store. Useful for just about any type of electronic music..Version: 2.5.4

Genuinely good. The sound quality is right up there, along with all the usual synth features. It sounds amazing. Definitely recommend. 5/5.Version: 2.0

Great subtractive synthesis!I am really enjoying this synth and have to tip my hat to the developer. Programming it is very straight forward and the UI is exactly what I have come to expect from a traditional subtractive synthesizer. The addition of the pitch envelope is indeed a plus. The one thing that I cannot figure out how to do is change the keyboard Octave Range. I see that it changes when I browse through patches so there must be a way to set and save this parameter. I have looked and looked but this function still eludes me. Help! Dmitrij Pavlov responded to your review of Poison-202 Vintage Synthesizer Dmitrij Pavlov "Hello! You can easily change the Octave Range. Tap near the top edge of keyboard, and you will see an octave selector. Scroll it with one finger to move range, or pinch with two fingers to change keys size (zoom).".Version: 2.4.5

SuperbThis update has transformed it, especially as it now supports midi CC64 (sustain).Version: 1.1

A cut WAY aboveI have so many IOS synths, that it really takes one like this to inspire a review from me. It just plain sounds great and with all the tweak-ability that one could ever want, without being overwhelming or too gimmicky in its UI design. It just keeps getting better with each update, great connectivity, and with a whole boatload of quality presets added frequently only add to its greatness. Highly recommended!.Version: 2.0

Awesome synthGreat synth with a great sound. Patches are great starting points for sound design too..Version: 2.4

Poison-EDCERTIFIED GREATNESS!!!!💣💣💣🔥🔥🔥.Version: 2.3

Amazing, from vintage to most modern.Amazing, from vintage to most modern. This synth sounds great. It is going to be top of the list for apps I use at live shows. Very easy to program. This thing checks all the boxes. Great sound design, a great deal of time must have gone into programming all those instantly recognizable patches. I'm in a classic dance rock cover band and these patches gave me some great ideas for songs to add to our set list. If your into programming your own sounds and have experience with analog synths you will be right at home with the controls. The multi-effects and arpeggiator really round out this great new synth app. Well worth the money. You will not be disappointed, I sure wasn't. Can't wait for your next synth or cool updates you might come up with for the 202..Version: 2.2

Perfect!Just brilliant. Well thought out. Well worth its price. Some one that knows what they’re doing made this, thank you..Version: 2.5.1

Excellent update! The new presets are fantastic and we now have AudioBus state saving. The best keeps getting better!.Version: 2.0

Cannot turn off both oscillators to use noise onlyThis is my only gripe. I absolutely love this synth. But for noise only sounds (drums, ambient etc) you cannot turn off both oscillators. You can only mix between the two. This is a huge oversight as far as I’m concerned. Apart from that, it’s amazingly simple and very very powerful. Please please add an oscillator on/off function somewhere (hidden in settings?) and you will have a perfect app..Version: 2.4.5

Different screens....This is more of a question than a review. How do I get on the other screens with the other features? I am stuck on the first one..Version: 2.4

Great synthLove this one.Version: 2.4

Huge soundWhat a gem ! Very good for fat bass and softer sounds.Version: 2.4

Oh Yeah!!!This is the synth I've been looking for....super easy to program...big full sound... nice effects unit......midi works great....and even velocity sensitivity for filter and amp. I've been making cool lead sounds and fat pads. Really worth it..Version: 2.0

Outstanding!Excellent in every way ... I have a ton of music apps and this one is among the top choice. The interface design is right on ... the sounds are great ... the programming is superb ... the price was right ... well worth it ... I highly recommend it to any musician..Version: 2.1

Low CPU great dirty sounds!!What rich synth! I love this app and use it on most of my tracks. It's really versatile and sounds beautiful! You can use several of these and barely soak any of the CPU up!.Version: 2.1

Great synthSeriously great sounds. Works great. Love the new sounds 5 stars if you ever decide to put the settings into AU, because i cant access things i need to when im in AU mode. Thats the cleanest way to produce music, but no settings for key, scales, arpeggios or any of that. Truthfully..i would love to see you take all that out of menus and make it a button on the main page. Going to settings for changing those are kinda daunting. Thats all i ask for 5 stars..Version: 2.3

Great sounds, easy to tweakI didn't think I needed yet another subtractive synth, but this one won me over. Lots of great presets, and the ability to run them as embedded Audio Units are worth the price of admission alone. What appears to be a simple subtractive synth interface hides a lot of power under the hood. A lot of variety and unique sounds are possible, with twin oscillators, twin filters (each with their own dedicated envelopes) that can run in parallel or in sequence, and twin amplifier envelopes. Throw in dual LFOs and nice-sounding onboard effects, easy MIDI setup, and, well you get the idea. Put this on your short list..Version: 2.1

A REAL synth for iosThis thing is amazong, especially for the price, and I've owned a few. nice work on this one..Version: 2.4

PoisonNice synth but need it as a plugin now!.Version: 2.4.5

Awesome synth great interfaceWell worth the money.Version: 1.1

The most iOS synth for the money ever!!So many options for such a small price. Love this app for real. Making real music with it. Thx..Version: 2.4

Just what I wantedJust the synth I was looking for and at a very attractive price. Definitely will be using this one..Version: 2.4.5

SuperbTitle says it all really, the best VA AU on IOS bar none, great price for a great sound..Version: 2.0

Cool beans!I write my own music. This little gem has exactly what I was looking for to create some modern sounds. Loads '0' fun!.Version: 2.0

Jacob Haq was rightThis is a great synth for uk styles and is light on the cpu... And reasonably deep too! Very pleased with it, is in my go to rack. Don't miss it!.Version: 2.4.4

What a great surprise!I am a professional musician with 7 albums released globally. My equipment includes the KORG Kronos 2, which sure makes a great controller for a small little pocket synth. Two words sum up my feelings about Poison-202. HUGE & FUN! I am enjoying its incredible amount of presets. All, great! I certainly give this 5 stars and even more if available. Great job, & thank you! Filmless Soundtracks.Version: 2.5.4

Tempted in...and delightedI thought I had enough soft synths, and I still think that. (-; But seeing Jakob Haq's patches added to this, tempted me to buy and I'm seriously impressed. The sonic variety of what can be done, and the sensitivity of controls make this app a joy to use. As a mere dabbler, I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing, but I do know I'm having a lot of fun. The price is right, and so is everything else! Nic.Version: 1.3

Amazing appLove it so much. It really feels like a real synth. I think it is defiantly worth the money as you can do so much with it and it is fun to play around with.Version: 2.2

TommeeLove it, patches are nice, sounds good. No way to octave up and down keyboard though. Light on cpu.Version: 2.0

Great Audio Units! It might look expensive, but it’ll give you plenty of synth power, and works well if your collection isn’t as big yet. Also try the different effects and more, you’ll be in for hours of supersaw monsters..Version: 2.4

Old schoolIf you want some old school sounds this synth delivers , overall it's off to a good start with some nice classic sounding bass noises and close recreations of rave & house recognisable sounds Would like some tweaks on the ui , the font is massive when selecting a preset , Fx are fine , would like options to tempo sync the delay. Hopefully it'll continue to develop ..Version: 1.0

Great Bang for the BuckBecause the price was reasonable, I was willing to try this app. Poison-202 is a fantastic value for the money. I bought it for me and I bought another copy for my son. That says it all for me. Highly recommended!!.Version: 2.3

This could be the perfect vintage synth app, but it doesn’t receive after touch! This app is the perfect combination of great vintage synth emulation and ease of use, BUT, it does not receive after touch. Please add this in an update please, and you’ll have perfection! 4 out of 5 stars Aftertouch would make it 5 out of 5.Version: 2.5.4

I got the POISONLove this synth not had it long and already blasting out the riffs only tweaking the presets for some amazing sounds can't wait to get under the hood, if you like that hard hitting 90s Roland sound you'll love this. Update this just gets better now AU you can have multiple versions in your DAW that's just brilliant..Version: 1.2.1

My go to synth when wanting to experimentMultiple instances of thing will give you the fattest sounds you'll ever need..Version: 2.0

Such a beautiful synth…butSo close to 5 stars. There’s no doubt that this is an epic synth with lots of extremely useable presets. But,it’s the arpeggiator that lets it down. I would gladly pay double if it had an editable arp that really highlighted its abilities..Version: 2.5.4

Just to goodThis is absolutely amazing I can run 90 of these as an AUV3 in cubasis on a ipad pro 12.9 inch second generation ..I wish they could all be like this 👍.Version: 2.4.6

Like it, but would love if it had recording capabilitiesThe sound sets are awesome, I’ve already created some custom ones from the presets and this app does not disappoint, I was initially worried about the price, but it turned out to be well worth it. The only thing I feel is left is to add a recording feature, which also allows exports (multi track recorder would be preferable). Once again this app is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who is new to synths and wants to create some cool music. Thank you!.Version: 2.4.2

ExcellentFantastic sounds. Once the Audiobus patch comes along, this will be my fav by far.Version: 1.0

Most Valuable toolWOW , hard to put down , this is very good. A most valuable tool.Version: 2.4.2

Like a real synthYa this baby isn't deep but the sound is insane . It would be great to have more routings and mods but it's so killer it doesn't matter . Buy it..Version: 2.0

Awesome!Great little synth. Works amazingly well with iMPC Pro 2.Version: 2.1

Great synth but design flawsThis synth is a great little package. It has very analog sounding filters that perform excellently. However, the “old school” UI has a few flaws, number one being unison. The synth engine is capable of unison, but there is only one oscillator mode that allows you to use it. For EDM, unison is essential and I strongly believe each oscillator should have fully controllable unison with voice number, mix, and detune. Another mild inconvenience is the lack of a controllable noise oscillator. While the synth has noise there is no envelope or filter. Overall, this little synth has amazing bones, great sound, and a solid start..Version: 2.4.5

It's a beastGreat feature rich synth app AU. Great work. Thanks!.Version: 1.2.1

Top quality. Need some cutting leads look no furtherIndeed this is up there with the top class of iOS synth apps. A lot of fun and reminds me of the piercing and driving patches you could get out of Sylenth and other similar apps on the desktop..Version: 2.4

A beautiful synthI'm 42, and have been fiddling with, programming and using synths of all shapes and sizes since the 80s. Poison 202, which I've been using for less than a fortnight, is a beautiful, warm and crisp sounding instrument that I know will please most knob twiddlers and synth lovers everywhere. Get it now..Version: 2.4

Fantastic update. Punchy sound and plays well with others, now.Another update... haQ!!!!!!!! O. M. G. Update: YESSSS!!!!!!! MIDI learn. Thank You! I rarely rate five stars, but this one gets it. Suh- WEET! Nice cutting sound. Easily stands out in a dense mix. Almost no latency with MIDI. Works super well even with older hardware (I write this on an iPad2 in a first gen Alesis iO Dock). The whole app uses very little storage space. A very capable synth..Version: 2.2

Work HorseAfter the Korg Wavestation this is my most used app, this app just shows just how powerful an iPad can become with the right music app..Version: 1.3

New Favorite*possible bug*. Keys stick in some patches when playing from external midi (Akai EWI5000). More frequently when used as AU in BM3. I have most of the top tier synths on iOS and this is my favorite. I was excited to learn that Poison is plug and play with my EWI 5000 windstrument. Tons of expressive patches. I’m not sure if I can map additional parameters yet as I’ve been having too much fun testing all of the factory goods. Please add more wind patcHes!.Version: 2.2

This synth help me with my album. If I haven’t invested on this Synth, then I wouldn’t have my album. One suggestion, could we have more user patches?.Version: 2.4.5

Must have synth.Absolutely fantastic. You need to own this one if your halfway series about iOS music production..Version: 2.1

One of Best Synths for IOSIt sounds really good and has plenty of control to help get the sound that you want..Version: 2.3

Love it!!!Great app. Lots of sounds to play with. Sure to please anyone’s ears just from the bank, even before tweaking sounds. No lag on iPad Pro. Well done developers..Version: 2.1

A seriously ‘sick’ synthesizerYou can create real audio pandemonium with Poison-202 (Apple, again, does what they do best...lose app reviews and fail to put them, like they USED to do, in chronological order.) Only thing that’s done poorly is the note hold feature. It fails to highlight the held keys. For the life of me I fail to understand why a decent note hold feature is so hard for many developers to make. Everything else is well designed and has some awesome presets and well matched components to create some insane sounds!.Version: 2.4.5

Free Sounds On Latest Update...But even before the latest cool update this Synth is a Killah! I love the power of this synthi beast. Every synthhead needs Poison in their app arsenal. Keep up the superb work. Thank you for this latest update bonus too!.Version: 2.0

One of the best well rounded synths I’ve playedStraight forward, simple yet deep, fun, smooth look. Love this thing use it a lot.Version: 2.1

Excellent SynthThis thing sounds great - nice layout. It works like a great analog synthesizer. I use it a lot. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.Version: 2.5.4

Accidentally boughtHi I bought this by accident can you please give money back. Plsss.Version: 2.4.5

One of the best!I'm being fair! This is by far one of the best if not the best old school synth apps out there! The sounds are incredible and in some cases out of this world! The interface is very user friendly and easy to tweak sounds to create your own custom sounds. I went ahead and committed to 5 stars! Update to my initial review...Poison is compatible with Audiobus!!!.Version: 2.1

I'm an old guy... I played synths in the 80's and...Dimitrij Pavlov is envied. He is also on top of the game here.... and right from the gate... Where has he been? This app is like combing a Prophet 5, SH-101, OBx-a and a Rhodes Chroma... Yes the Chroma! It does exactly what I be been looking for since I've started on iOS... That bass scraping alien spine crushing sound. I've owned just about all analog synthesizers, including the CS80, and this one is easily placed in my top 5 apps. If you don't buy, you will find your future boring and useless..Version: 2.2

SUPERB! very nice synth! This is a masterpiece synth. Especially when you turn on the waveform visual effect! I always use this for my Trap style beats!.Version: 2.1

Very good patches! There are a huge selection of very good sounds, so much to choose from. My only complaints are the lack of sensitivity. When you hit a key there is no distinction between a hard press and soft. Also, the effects for real instruments like flute or sax are not sampled. Other than that, for the price, there are hours of entertainment and creativity built in..Version: 2.4

Superb.Great sounds. Simple interface. Mac version is brilliant too. Well worth the money..Version: 2.0

Amazing I use this #BrucesPlanetTotally the best Synth I’ve used in a long time. Fantastic to play live with my Keytar. #Bruce.Version: 2.5.4

Super.Best synthesizer ever have, intuitiwe high resolution sound quality 48 Khz, you have ewerythink what you need..Version: 2.4.4

ThanksThanks for fixing the iPad Air 4 bug. Now this Synth is rocking big time. Love it..Version: 2.5.4

I really like it, especially the Haq patchesThe Haq patches are very useful when I'm using this in GarageBand..Version: 2.0

One of the bestGreat sounding synth with a large variety of decent presets to get you started. The ability to use as an Audio Unit is extremely handy and works with majority of hosts I've tested. Highly recommended addition to your mobile music arsenal..Version: 2.0

The most compact and necessary iOS synth? If all you have in a song is this 202 synthesizer, you can probably put more instances/instrument tracks into a musical piece than would possibly be required! It’s fortunate it’s also a decent synth, and although others may have more complex patches, and I have added ‘depth’ with effects sometimes, this is probably one of the three or four synths iOS really needs, ‘desert island’ synths people call them. There are some criticisms possible if you try hard, but my biggest gripe would be if they ever wanted to significantly change it! I think someone said the font is a bit big, but this is really only true for some iPads maybe? As this is one of the three or four synths you can have usable on your iphone, I am not sure that’s a negative anyway..Version: 2.5.4

IPad Pro 12.9 ScalingSounds excellent but the GUI on the iPad Pro 12.9 is a little bit over-scaled, everything is about 25% too large. Animoog has a better keyboard IMHO, it's far better designed for a touch screen than implementing traditional mechanical keyboard. There is the opportunity to use touch inflections that really add to the flexibility of the sound being produced..Version: 1.1

Awesome presets means awesome capabilitiesFor me it's worth the money for the presets alone but given the fact it can also act as an an audio unit inside cubasis and can be fully customisable makes it even more awesome and I'm sure that must be the case for other apps that support audio units, ut even as a stand alone app I would buy it..Version: 2.0

No Fair!!How am I supposed to do anything else when this app is so freaking great? So now what do I do with 200 other apps that don'tsound this good? My wife is going to go, "see, I told you to wait!!". I bought this and LayR in the last two days, my lord things are good for me right now!! Does anyone know how to rename patches that I've edited, I've done everything I know and can't seem to figure it out. This app like LayR is a killer! If I had to choose between the two I think right now I'd choose Poison just because it sounds so great and is so intutive for an old synther like me. So worth the money!!.Version: 2.0

Wow! How did I miss this synth for so long?As a dedicated iOS musician I have a literal collection of roughly all of the best synth apps out there and a lot of the mediocre ones as well. The presets on this synth are perhaps the best sounding I've encountered on iOS. Do yourself a favor and get Poison, for the 10 bucks I think you will be very happy with the value!.Version: 2.0

Everything is excellent about this synth!!Excellent sound--very Roland'esque! Excellent connectivity (AB3, IAA, AU, etc.)! Excellent user interface (great layout and easy to use)! Excellent build quality (very stable, no crashes or bugs)! Excellent patches (lots and lots of them and great variation)! Excellent support (this synth keeps getting better and better)!!!.Version: 2.0

Incredible synth, worth the priceThe sounds on this thing are amazing, tons of faithful recreations of The Prodigy patches and more!.Version: 1.0

Quite SpeechlessThe Sound Quality is very good , with more manipulation of sound than I was expecting to be honest, but then the Acid App is probably the best 303 Emulator with the same quality of sound. This should not be limited by the apparent Rave era bank sounds, it goes far deeper, but if your budget needs someone to tell you what synth you want to be a bit Prodigy, this is it..Version: 2.4.6

Saved me a lot of money!I always come back to using this as my main synthesizer on stage. The simplicity and durability of the iPad combined with the great sounds and flexibility have made poison a true go-to for my synth needs. This app has scratched my itch for new gear many times as i often look for gear that does what I am already doing with this. I guess happiness is wanting what you have. Thank you!.Version: 2.5.4

New favorite! The interface is super smooth and easy to use. Nice amount of presets and sounds great. Poison 202 and beatmaker 3 is a match made in heaven for me..Version: 2.4.4

Scarred veteranI’ve spent a bunch of $ on music apps. I’d rate this synth in my top 5% in music apps, and probably my top 2% in synths. This, Animoog and Moog Model 15 are all iPad must-haves. Great useful presets. I feel like instead of a bunch of random ‘here’s what you can do’ presets, they are a lot of really good starting points for things that you need. Kudos for including presets from some well known internet music personalities. I’ve spent hours exploring and creating. Stable and functional with daws as well..Version: 2.1

KinkyGreat synth.. You can wring it’s neck and it will love you more..Version: 2.3

Because AU... and tempo syncThe new free patches sound great. The interface is logical and intuitive. Regular updates. And it plays well with others..Version: 2.3

Awesome!Awesome sounds, easy to program, very versatile. You won't be disappointed!.Version: 1.0

The bomb !Simply amazing. Poison 202 sounds stunning and includes an excellent set of presets that show off this synth's capabilities. Check out the promo video which recreates some retro classics. Love it :).Version: 1.2

In the top fiveI think this may be my second review, but what the heck! If you’re looking to make some wierd 50’s sc-fi sounds then this hits the spot. It’s more than capable of creating the usual patches and does a fine job of it. But when you hit that random button, that’s when the fun really starts. 😊.Version: 2.5.4

Great Sounds and easy to useI’m a real novice when it comes to synths but I bought this after seeing what Henry the Bizness did with the disco bass on a demo track on YouTube. I’ve had so much fun using it within Cubasis and the midi learn function is awesome. Presets are excellent but it’s also super easy to play around with sounds and effects. Just amazing for the price.Version: 2.1

Massive soundGreat app This synth sounds huge plenty of tweaking available cool.Version: 2.0

The Prodigy SoundIn an app!.Version: 2.4

Awesome SynthQuality sounds I love this synth and it works great with Cubasis.Version: 2.2
