CameraPixels PRO for Positive User Reviews

Focus stacking for macroExcellent app with many extraordinary features. Unique focus stacking capability allows you to set near and far point and specify the number of slices you want. Shoots up to 50 in seconds so it’s useful with slow moving live specimens. Wish there was a companion app to combine a stack but Helicon Focus for OSX and Windows works great albeit not iOS..Version: 5.1.7

Nice oneWell, this app is few months old and already has more features than much older apps and lower price :D Love the responsiveness of the developer, replied in 1 hour! I would appreciate addition of the DNG to burst mode, since standard JPG are way too processed.Version: 4.0.3

Brilliant bracketing appThis is what I’ve been searching for forever. Best part is the near instantaneous and simultaneous exposures, avoiding unwanted motion between shots. I didn’t need to pay for the pro version, but I did just to support the developer. Well done!.Version: 2021.5.4

6 to midnight real quickWould definitely recommend to a friend, nice download!.Version: 4.1.0

The best imoI've tried lots of cameras apps and this consistently gives the best results. I view pictures not just on camera but also on PC and at 100%. This keeps most detail especially in darker areas..Version: 5.1.6

Great features + great support unbeatableWorks well. Had a few issues but support is super quick and helpful. Highly recommended Thanks very much guys!.Version: 4.1.1

The best!I’ve used many camera apps and this tops them all for options for quality and ease of use. Really great..Version: 5.1.7

Great supportJohn at CameraPixels was back in an hour with a solution when I emailed them ‘cos I couldn’t get volume up button to trigger the shutter release. All set now, I bought mainly for the focus bracketing feature which works well. Still on Learning curve with using manual mode..Version: 2021.2

CameraPixelsIn reference to DNG use, you are stated that DNG must use IAP - pardon my ignorance - what is IAP? Thank u!.Version: 5.1.2

Camera presets camera presets camera presetsI found this app searching for a camera app with preset capability. (i’m shocked that this isn’t a more standard feature). it’s a robust photo and video app and is well worth the price. (i hope that development is still going forward with the new iphone 11 pro camera.) sometimes the app locks up & closes out but thanks to the “remember capture mode” & “capture settings” it makes up for the occasional crash. i’ve paid for at least 20 camera apps over the years. this one is my go to.Version: 5.1.7

Perfect app for RAW HDR bracketing!Just what I was looking for. Great manual controls. With my iPhone and affinity photo on my MacBook I can get professional quality HDR panoramas now!!.Version: 3.1.1

Great app for amazing picturesLove it.Version: 2020.2.2

Om4It would be nice if this could work with DJI Om 4.Version: 2021.1.1

GreatEasy to use, nice UI, with just the right camera features for me..Version: 5.0.1

Brilliant app for pro photographer and videographerIt's just amazing what this app can do, from manual settings to focus stacking and dng raw support! As a pro this is now my main camera on iphone!!! Highly recommended.Version: 2020.2.2

RAW and BracketingI found this app through a thread on DP Review after Googling "iPhone camera app with bracketing." And it is amazing Apple does not show this app even when searching on the exact name. WARNING: this app is not for the casual photographer. Just use the basic iPhone camera app in iOS for that. As far as the app itself... this is the way to shoot HDR off of RAW images for your own post processing. For those of us who want to achieve a certain artistic style this camera app gives us the functionality that is not in any of the more popular (at time of this review) apps. This app blows the stock iPhone camera app away! I wish Apple allowed us to choose which app launched off the iOS camera button because I would launch this one. Just keep in mind that RAW/DNG files need to be edited in another app like Lightroom or Photoshop. 5 stars for all the extra functionality, incredibly responsive development team responding on DP Review (although I'm just a lurker), and fair pricing. Thank you BasicPixels - stay awesome!.Version: 2.1.1

Imagine What I Can Do NowThis app will let you take your camera to the next level! You will being able to control everything about the camera from lighting to focus. Great job!.Version: 4.0.2

Outstanding camera app with extensive bracketing controlsFound this app via a recommendation on DPReview's user forums. I was looking for an app that would allow multi-shot bracketed photos while also providing manual user controls over ISO, white balance, and other settings. This app provided all of the above and much more. It's ridiculous, though, that Apple's App Store search function made it impossible to find this app on my own. It never came up when searchign for "bracketing" (which few if any of its competitors offer). It also didn't turn up in searches after entering its name! The only way I found it was via a direct link provided by a helpful person on DPReview..Version: 2.0.1

Six Stars!I have tried almost every camera app that records images in RAW (DNG) format, and I have rated some of them five stars. Compared to those apps, CameraPixels deserves six stars. Some of the features that set it apart from other apps are EV compensation in shutter priority mode, and the ability to save camera settings as “presets” and quickly recall them. Sure there are minor complaints (can’t reorder presets, location info doesn’t include direction), but overall CameraPixels beats the other apps hands down..Version: 5.1.5

Amazing little App to get the most from your iPhone CameraThis app is a must have for any photographer looking to get basic DSLR-like functionality out of your iPhone camera. Simple to use interface, reliable operation and! ...actual quality tech support via email from the Camera Pixels team. Don’t think twice, this app is a must-have..Version: 2021.1.1

Marvellous!!!Camera control for iOS that I’ve waited for. Focus Bracket mode essential for the limited DOF of phone cameras when used close. Well done..Version: 2020.2.2

Superb app with very helpful supportI bought this purely for the bracketing feature, a feature I wanted for HDR. And this app works very well for that. But it's also a very versatile replacement for the default camera app if you like shooting manual. And it can save higher quality JPEGs and even completely lossless TIFFS on phones without RAW support which is handy. I also contacted support and they couldn't have been more helpfu, and were extremely fast with their replies too..Version: 4.0.1

ExcellentA surprisingly decent and well-designed camera app with a nice UI and easy to use controls. When you consider that similar apps go for much more the choice is pretty easy. A lot of bang for your buck. Suggestions: A 2:1 aspect ratio option 1/48 and 1/120 shutter speeds The option to output a jpeg version when you shoot raw The online manual is incomplete.Version: 5.1.6

❤️❤️❤️ itThis app great. Does what it suppose to do. I think this app is my new favorite app for pix and video. Its worth the price. I wish there was an option to cotrol or place iso and/or shutter speed manually on the screen without having to press setting everytime to bring them up..Version: 4.1.2

Focus Stacking!CameraPixels brings DNG Focus Stacking to iOS! If you look in bracketing mode you can select focus bracketing and also select the number of frames, up to 30. You can make amazing close-up photos with Focus Stacking. The only problem is that there is no app on iPhone to process the Focus Stack set. However, on iPad there is Affinity Photo, and it has the ability to process Focus Stack sets, even in DNG. Try out Focus Stacking on your iPhone, especially for close-ups where the depth of field is typically so slim. You will be hooked. Thank you CameraPixels!.Version: 5.1.7

Best set of featuresI have tried all of the well-known camera apps. On an iPhone 14 Pro using ProRaw, CameraPixels is the one that adds the most features that the Apple camera app lacks. I use focus bracketing, slow shutter, the level indicator and the 48 Mpix setting..Version: 2022.1.3

Been looking for this kind of appPacked with features and really easy to use for manual camera settings. :D.Version: 4.1.0

WowThis application really unlocks the phone's full camera functionality. If you take your photography seriously, even though you're using a mobile device, this app is for you..Version: 4.1.0

Getting better with every updateHaven’t had any more to its just good 👍.Version: 2021.3

They contacted me After an issue I had, and I appreciated that👍🏼yup.Version: 2020.2.5

GreatThe app is a full featured capturing machine :) Photo, video, time lapse, long exposure - all there. Love the auto-development of DNG, no post-processing images one by one..Version: 4.0.1

Perfect for pros doing image blending using images shot with a smartphone6/29/19 Addendum: Pros and serious hobbyists, you should really take a look at this app because it is virtually perfect for CAPTURING SOURCE IMAGES IN RAW FORMAT from the newer smart phones, which then can be exported into Photoshop on computer for maximum end-results using image blending. This app is NOT focused on editing images and that’s perfectly OK with me because there are many other apps whose strength is in that area. Here is an example of what I am saying. Just imagine what you would have to do to use another app that shoots raw format and allows for manual exposure control and then try to bracket 5, 7, 9, or up to 15 images 0.5EV apart from each other. The reason you cannot imagine doing that is because the other apps will not do that. CameraPixels will, and with only ONE TOUCH of the shutter button. Unlike images from a DSLR and other smartphone apps, there goes the hassle with having to align the images in post-processing, after they have been shot. This is one of those rare instances where a smartphone with this app will actually do something that none of the DSLR cameras can even do. I am shocked that more serious photographers have not discovered this app yet. I suspect that is because it has been given very little advertising compared to other apps. But those other apps cannot do what this app can do. Original Review from 11/2018: CameraPixels is one of my top three apps when I am after a shot that requires professional levels of image blending in Photoshop on my computer. The reason for this is that I can set this app to bracketing and I can choose the amount of EV difference from one shot to the next and determine the total number of shots taken, thereby giving myself more than ample range in tonality between the various images. The other thing that I especially like, and this is an advantage even over my best $3300 DSLR cameras, is that with a single touch of the shutter button, all of the bracketed images are taken at the exact same moment. And before I omit mentioning this, CameraPixels allows me to shoot the original images in DNG (RAW) format. This is a must have feature for me when I am after critical material that I intend to archive and edit in various ways. Once I have the images taken by CameraPixels imported into Photoshop, then I use luminosity masking techniques and blend the sky with the ground and always find that I have a nearly perfect original image with exactly the right tones to make the shot look its very best and most professional. There are two other apps that are my top choices for individual image processing and tweaking, but when I have luminosity masking in mind before I take a shot, I go straight to CameraPixels without hesitation. If you are an advanced amateur or pro photographer and intend to do image blending, look no further. This is your app..Version: 5.1.7

They actually listened...I am updating my review, because the developers fixed the issues that I ran into. Photographers don't usually stray too far from tools they use in their workflows, so having an app that is not abandoned and is always being developed means a lot, thank you..Version: 4.1.0

Versatile, well-designed camera appI purchased Camera Pixels because it supports DNG (raw image) capture. Additionally, it packs tremendous flexibility into a very efficient user interface. It only takes two or three gestures to get what I want. And it can output highest-quality JPEG MAX images. It makes the iPhone competitive with my DSLR..Version: 5.1.3

Most advanced RAW camera on the app store! This is the most feature-heavy and user-friendly camera app I've ever used on iOS. Bracketing, full manual control, pro video settings, custom modes and more. Just make sure you have an iphone 6S or newer for RAW compatibility..Version: 3.1.0

Unique focus stacking capabilities!I am working on a project where my main subject is always at about 8 inches from the iPhone and I want a sharp image to infinity. This obviously requires focus stacking. CameraPixels is the only app I found that can do both focus stacking and save to DNG file format. In CameraPixels I saved a Mode that shoots 10 images from 8 inches to infinity and the process is very easy. I then process the images on my computer using Zerene Stacker and I am very happy with the results. I also find the interface of CameraPixels very intuitive. Highly recommended!.Version: 5.1.7

ImprovementHello, Can the shutter speed by improved to allow for very slow shutter speeds also such as 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 second speeds in a future update? Thank you.Version: 5.1.6

Excellent! My go-to camera app. A well thought out app having DSLR features wrapped in a user interface which is a joy to use. The app is completed by customer support which is second to none..Version: 5.0.2

Automated Exposure Brackets for HDR!A camera app with AEB that lets you save and export the individual exposures. Looked hours for a quality app with this feature before finding this gem. Very impressed, it is polished and extremely user friendly. Took 2 minutes to set up presets with 3 & 5 F-Stop brackets. Finally an EASY way to take and export bracketed exposure shots to work with in Aurora HDR 2017. I already own and use NightCap Pro, Slow Shutter Cam, ProCamera (Full), FiLMiC Pro, and Mavis. All of these are excellent but they each do have steep learning curves. But not CameraPixels, it is by far the most intuitive camera app I've seen to date. Fantastic user interface. Thank you for your effort!.Version: 4.0.2

Great AppGreat App with good UI. Customer support first class. Quick and informative responses. Would 100% recommend..Version: 4.1.1

Great bracketingI have in some situations wish that I have my DSLR with me. Having this in my iPhone allows me to have the same controls especially the bracketing feature of the app. I like that you can do a lot of presets to speed things up I will try the focus stacking next..Version: 5.1.7

I’ve gone through many camera apps, and this one does the most! After using Halide Camera for a while, this app has so much more capability. The exposure bracketing can allow for amazing dynamic range for editing even on old iPhones. Being able to do focus bracketing makes macro shots way better, and the burst interval is great for shooting time lapses in RAW. I just wish the burst interval would go longer than one second max. Other than that this app does everything I would possibly need for taking pictures..Version: 2021.2

Working for iPhone 14 nowAlthough a few weird bugs. Am talking to support to squash them and hopefully get this great app that is still the best camera app for iPhone in my opinion back to 5 star..Version: 2022.1.2

Bracket existing photos?Great app. I actually bought it to stack existing exposure bracketed photos—I don’t think that’s possible with this, however, maybe in a future update? I will use it now with my iPhone now and in the future it would be cool to stack existing photos from my ‘real’ camera too:)!.Version: 2021.5.4

Great app - fantastic supportThis is an awesome app for photographers. I had an issue that I contacted support for - I received a quick response and they went above and beyond to answer my questions..Version: 5.1.2

🌟🌟The Best🌟🌟I have tried a lot of the so called top camera apps and this one beats them all for simplicity and still having all the features. The app interface is the best not cluttered with buttons dials etc. Try this camera app and you will never use any other again..Version: 2022.1.3

One of a kindWow, not so much known app, but it's fantastic! Tons of modes to shoot photos, bursts and bracketing with 15 images! All video modes are also included like slow motion and time lapse. Keep adding new features!.Version: 4.0.1

Clean AppDoes is job, all the manual settings work as it's supposed to. Would request to change the app logo so it would go with iOS theme..Version: 3.1.4

Great for Focus StackingOnly found this app by chance after being so disappointed with the so called market leaders. I’ve being using Camera Pixels for over a year now on my IPhone 12 Pro Max and think it’s brilliant. Paired with a Loupe System 6 x loupe and Helicon Focus stacking software I get much better results than I ever did with my Canon 5D Mk3D and macro setup. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed..Version: 2021.5.4

BingoFinally! I found the app that can capture more than 3 images per bracket in raw! This app goes to 7. Creating a stunning HDR are now a total pleasure! Please, add raw to burst too!.Version: 4.0.1

Seems like a great app but have question...Once I have my three bracketed photos, how do I go about making a single hdr image from them. Is this process built into your app or do I need to use an additional software program or app? If it it the later, what program do you recommend?.Version: 5.1.7

Massive Update 👌🏻😀 Love it ❤️IPhone Pro Max👏🏻😀.Version: 2021.5

Great for HDR if you post-processI have used dedicated HDR apps but they tend to over-process and cannot be fine-tuned. Whilst CameraPixels doesn’t do HDR, it does allow excellent control of bracketing, including storing ‘Presets’. I can then post-process in 3rd party apps to get phenomenal natural looking HDR images. Unbeatable for landscapes!.Version: 5.1.7
