What a shame. ⭐️⭐️ Anyone one who has played Orwell on Steam will be familiar with the mechanics of this game - sift data, find clues, solve the mystery. Whist ANLP has an original take of this style, deploys it reasonably well, all whilst tackling an extremely sensitive and difficult topic is to be commended. However, it sadly does so with a moral message (yes that is what it is) is dubious to say the least. Once the struggles of the phones owner begin to emerge the plot quick degrads in favour of preaching to the player. The main points of the games sermon can summarised as follows: 1. Always be critical of the views, opinions, and feelings of others but never your own. 2. Anyone who won't except you as your are is probably a bigot. 3. Find a community of people who will unquestionably accept you. 4. It is OK to lie to and deceive everyone else. 5. If necessary, run away I'm secret to escape those who do not unquestionably accept you for who you are. Those who truly support you will approve of this decision. The sad reality of this message is that very little depends on the struggles of the main character. In fact Sam is merely a foil through which the message is advanced. Sam could have been struggling with a growing desire of religious belief (eg. Islam) or political affiliation, they could have even been thinking about joining a cult, and the message of this game would remain the same. Ultimately, Sam (a likeable character) sadly becomes an irrelevance. What a shame. Two stars for original concept and bravery..Skinny1989Version: 1.3.1

I see now that you all have created another app ( which you have to pay another $1.99 for) that does have a female who plays the protagonist. I wish I would have known that there were separate apps for different sexes. I am so happy that this app is here. I liked the WiFi & calculator passwords because while they weren’t obvious & you had to dig a little deeper, they weren’t out of your reach either. Everything you need is in the app, you just have to be patient. However, there's not really much content here. I beat the game in around 15 minutes, and there's not much (or any) replay value. As I got into the gameplay i realised how creative of a game this is. Basically it’s a simulation where you look around a virtual phone and search through texts in the order to discover the owner. The game itself is entertaining but the gameplay is rather short. You need to be observant to discover the things. I am happy with the game but I am not as happy with the price. That is the reason for the three stars. I hope you enjoy this review. P.s Don’t think this is a bad game. It is one of the best I’ve played, just not worth the price. I think the story often eats away the gameplay, though, and that definitely happens here... so if you’re not interested in the topic, it will fall flat. The three-star rating is because of a bizarre glitch. If I leave the screen idle for a minute or two, the game resets. 4 new messages from dad and everything is gone. This happened to me about 4 times... luckily there isn’t really that much to do to progress in the game. There’s about 4-5 inputs and you’re done. I think it would have worked better as a short story because it really didn't need to be a "game", if you can call it that. Just a little bit added to it could have made it an actual game but as is it is just short text snippets and bad/obvious number puzzles. Just let me interact with some of the characters. Give me a puzzle that isn't figuring out some dumb kid's obvious number passwords. And I really didn't like the ability to not interact by the end of the game since in real life I would have texted the dad or mom. I was intrigued at first, but it soon became apparent that this is not so much a game meant to be enjoyable for the players as it is a means to push a message. The reveal has the player reading long passages of a fake forum meant to give insight into the life of the main character who is transgender. I’m not upset about the message, but I feel that the game was incorrectly described in the App Store. The developers true aim is to help people empathize with trans people. But they pretend that the game is a mystery/voyeur game to attract interest that they know would not exist if they were forthcoming about their motives. I am a supporter of the LGBTQ community, but I feel like I got tricked and ripped-off with this purchase.
