Butterfly iQ — Ultrasound for Positive User Reviews

Not for the faintHave been using this for over a year. Great for clinical/interventional radiologists. It’s ease of use won’t compensate for lack of experience or practice. It does generate artifact at low resolution which will mislead many, so don’t expect it to make you a better clinician if you don’t have a pretty solid grasp of relational anatomy in every dimension or US technique with a full size machine. In my opinion it’s not a great tool to practice US either. Your pictures wont come out like the book if you don’t know what the variants look like. It definitely motivates and lowers threshold for accessibility, but has high potential to confuse learners than accurately teach (blind leading the blind). The updates and subscription control on the system are cumbersome so even though you bought the probe, it sort of doesn’t really belong to you without a subscription. It’s great on missions and in a pinch using it for diagnosis and intervention. But I can tell you first hand - it’s not for the masses and can be dangerous in inexperienced (and usually overconfident) hands..Version: 1.19.0

Incredibly versatile and easy to use!The app has great videos and other guidance tools that help new users become very quickly accustomed to navigating the app and the techniques commonly used. Thanks!!!.Version: 2.24.0

Easy to use, lots of resourcesThe app itself is wonderful and easy to use even as a novice. The educational resources available are also extremely helpful for someone who is new to the ultrasound world. Will highly recommend..Version: 2.5.0

OB measurements applicationExcellent portable high quality US, convenient to use. I wish it would have OB measurements application. It limits it use in OB clinics, triage, L&D. Pregnant women not satisfied anymore with uterine fundus measurements and Doppler of heartbeat. They need more reassurance of fetal well being which US providing..Version: 1.14.0

Superb ultrasound solutionIV access in cancer patients in our PET CT department is always a challenge! NOT NOW WITH A BUTTERFLY HANDHELD US..Version: 2.1

A game changer in medicineThe Butterfly iQ and this app have been game changers in medicine. They are constantly improving and this has revolutionized medicine. This low cost device and its app are highly portable and effective. It is definitely worth having in your clinical practice..Version: 1.21.0

Wonderful portable POC_USUse it daily in the ICU for everything except lines since the bigger screen of the Sonosite is more convenient. But for assessment of hypotension, thoracentesis, quick echos in the unstable patient, and more, this device is amazing. Can’t beat the price either. Thank you Butterfly IQ team!.Version: 1.5.0

POCUS workflow simplifiedHaving the ability to review and finalize point of care ultrasound studies from my phone is a game changer. The Butterfly platform is the best option in the marketplace..Version: 2.11.0

One of the most used apps on my phone.I use my Butterfly iQ at least 2-3 times a day in clinic, and have to come to value the sheer versatility of the settings. Easily the most bang for your buck in a primary care practice where you have to do a little bit of everything..Version: 2.10.1

Excellent PoCUS systemI have demo’d nearly all of the ultra-portable systems available in Canada. This is hands down the most flexible, versatile and cost effective. Well supported with new features coming on line with updates. Great for the ward, ER or clinic..Version: 1.18.0

Sliced bread with butter!!!BiQ is a powerful, super practical, easy to use, easily portable clinical tool. Nice clear images, hyper-fast boot. So well designed! And, with a frequency range 1-10MHz, you will be ready for the most satisfying POC diagnostic bedside tool. I love it. My BiQ is my daily clinical care (ED, ICU, floor, anywhere needed) and education tool. It’s always in my pocket. You have to carry gel, and have towels to clean the patient and device -of course. Welcome to today’s medical practice!.Version: 1.6.0

Fantastic app and deviceFantastic app and device. Making U/S more accessible!.Version: 2.23.0

Game changerI have been using the Butterfly IQ since it’s been available. It has become an integral part of my practice, both inside the office and the hospital. The image quality and preset features combined with its potential is amazing. His little yet, powerful and multifunction ultrasound has improved my practice more than any other single device.Version: 2.2.1

Game changerBeen a doc for 25 yrs; it’s not about making revenue it’s about being a better doc, exploring and not knowing is normal and obviously w AI we will be helped along the way....the best companion to stethoscope thus far......Version: 1.19.0

Pysiotherpist - OstopathBest probe for those how start training in MSK ultrasound. You can use Nerve, Soft Tisue, Vascular for better understanding MSK scan..Version: 1.26.0

ExcellentIve been using butterfly now for over a year for basic POCUS and it really does make ultrasound accessible to the jobbing physician. A skill we should all acquire - why rely on physical exam findings that are both unreliable and sometimes misleading when you can get your patients more accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment (and discharge) with POCUS.Version: 2.6.0

Great device. Two requestsThe US is fantastic and provides great images for diagnosis, procedures, and teaching. I’ve recommend this to all my partners (ED docs) and we’re using it in the prehospital environment too. However, I have 2 asks, 1 easy, one not so easy. 1. For vascular access presets, would you please add a digital centerline on the screen that can be turned on and off? It’s great to have probe markers but a corresponding line on the screen would be helpful. 2. Bluetooth model please. Wireless would make this the perfect device for every clinician to carry on their pocket..Version: 1.7.0

Iq probeGreat ultrasound probe. Easy to use, image quality is good. Download app, charge probe and takes minutes to set up. Multiple presets are easy to use, power Doppler and color are great. Just wish other probe frequency options eg. endo, were available as trans abdominal images can be limited. But great starter probe..Version: 1.18.0

Always innovativeLove the constant updates and software upgrades..Version: 1.18.0

OB settingI love my Butterfly! I use it exclusively to do bedside consultations as an OBGYN. It performs as promised, can’t ask for more than that. I was wondering if there were any plans to add calculators to the app? I’d love to be able to use it to calculate fetal heart rates.Version: 1.6.0

Very good for perioperative echoI have used the butterfly over half a year and have done more than a hundred perioperative echo which is super fun and helpful for Anesthesiologist.Version: 2.3.0

Best POC SONOVery nice device, very easy to use. More important the company backs up their device in their software with phenomenal customer support. My highest recommendation.Version: 2.19.0

Orbital scan by orbit oculoplastic surgeonThis is the first time , I could see the details orbit on myself. This was an exceptional experience . Holding the probe on my right hand and iPhone in my left hand , I did almost whole body scan on myself in my office. I also could do scan of my right eye by turning in my camera on my phone while doing B scan. The images are clear but need interpretation, specifically orbital images are different from what we see in MRI images. We at Trying to set up a protocol for scanning of orbital Disorders. This was a dream come true to scan my own eye but needed lots of preparations 🤪..Version: 2.6.1

MSK useI do pain management and have several offices in Texas. The Butterfly IQ gives me images for joint injections and spinal injections with pretty much equal clarity to my bigger GE and Terason units. Sure is nice throwing my IPad and the Butterfly IQ in my bag to travel rather than loading a full size machine several times a week.Version: 1.25.2

Butterfly iQ+What a great piece of machinery…compact portable and produces images worthy of a larger unit. the Butterfly company itself is a top notch group of ppl, their reps are always ready to answer questions and are extremely helpful 👌.Version: 2.16.0

Radiologists dream gizmoI have to say, my Butterfly iQ has been absolutely fantastic. So far, I have used it to diagnose an incidental foot lesion, which we diagnosed as, and was confirmed to be an angioleiomyoma upon excision, calcifications in both shoulders, and confirmed a non-displaced toe fracture, eliminating the need to visit the hospital or ER for x-rays. I just recently diagnosed a small pseudoaneurysm following angiography. It’s been helpful and excluding and Morton’s neuroma, and I am confirming a lipoma. Overall, my sense is that this little gem is worth every penny..Version: 2.28.0

Amazing function and great customer supportThe ability to literally have an affordable ultrasound in your pocket is revolutionary. I use this daily as a family practice physician and have recommended it to numerous colleagues as a great way to enhance you the physical exam and procedures. Recently, I had some difficulties logging on and had very rapid and effective customer services that fixed my problem within a day. I would highly recommend this to anyone considering getting an ultrasound!.Version: 1.22.0

Incredible toolGreat work Butterfly team. Awesome device + app. Truly impressive clarity and ease of use. When are the AI and neural network upgrades coming? Would you consider using Beta testers?.Version: 1.1.5

Outstanding Tool for Primary CareVersatile, good images for clinic use; Software allows for creating reports to export. Low annual fees for cloud usage..Version: 2.28.0

Best investment I’ve madeOur patients simply love the instant ability to confirm their pregnancy or presentation of their babies that Butterfly IQ provides our busy birth center! A real game changer..Version: 2.11.0

Excellent user interfaceI have been using it for the past few months and the app is excellent and also very easy to use Dr. Thilak Chander.Version: 1.20.1

Almost perfectI have been experiencing some issues with my Pro custom membership. I can’t download pdf files or share images and videos. My membership ends November 4th..Version: 2.15.0

Easy app to useBFLY is easy to use, good quality image and over the air updates..Version: 2.20.0

Scanning controls need some workButterfly have finally made some AI calculation features available recently, and that’s quite welcome. However, one gripe I have with the scanning interface is that it’s very difficult to use one-handed on a bigger iPhone (ex XS max) ... please just provide an option to keep operation controls either to the left of the screen or the right. Having them centred doesn’t help anyone with normal sized hands..Version: 1.23.0

Really intuitive, with more features comingI really like the app. I use the Butterfly IQ almost daily in my anaesthetic practice, for nerve blocks, vascular access and focused (limited) echocardiography. I understand that Simpson’s monoplane ventricular ejection fraction is coming soon, as is indicated in the user manual. This will be good if the AI would also allow it to be used in apical two chamber view so I can average the two measurements for a bi-plane figure. Maybe that will also come. Another feature I would like to see is the ability to edit clip labels after saving. Sometimes mistakes can be made, so it would be nice to be able to edit them later. This device and the companion app have really added to my practice, to the benefit of my patients..Version: 1.12.1

Great but tiny improvement neededThe learning videos are very good. A tiny improvement in learning section should be to put the videos in order though. A few sections are out of order, aorta for example. The nerve blocks are a bit out of order also as some reference points not yet mentioned until later videos. Also showing actual blocks would be great for needle placement, sterile field, etc..Version: 2.1

Awesome product, awesome app!Great for all levels of medical education.Version: 2.6.1

Great teaching tool. Release app for iPad mini?Wonderful teaching and learning tool at a very reasonable price point. Portability is phenomenal. Image quality is great. Any possibility that you will be releasing a version of the app for the iPad mini? A bigger screen than the iPhone would be nice for teaching small groups (and I already have a mini). There should also be an option to buy the device without the Butterfly Cloud service. Also had issue with the probe heating and shutting down after 30 min of scanning using the cardiac preset..Version: 1.4.0

Responsive and easy to use!Simple app design with easy and intuitive use. No heavily nested menus and buttons sized appropriately. (On iPhone XR) One suggestion is when you “freeze” in Mmode, there’s no way to scroll back and forth to find an appropriate frame. This is available as a function in 2D and should be added to Mmode!.Version: 1.3.1

PoCUS IN COVID-19We have used Butterfly iQ regularly through COVID-19 and it has helped obtain very useful information for patient management. LUS images are excellent far better than cardiac images and so far no one has questioned their quality for any publications. Every application is useful and one machine, one probe for total body..Version: 1.20.1

New customer New butterflyI love this technology and the app, you can adjust settings and look at any body part you want to! I immediately noticed the quality and great software attached to this device. So happy I got it.Version: 1.26.0

A Great Resource! This thing checks a lot of the boxes. Difficult IVs, CVL placements in Bi-Plane, and lumbar Sono-anatomy prior to epidural placements. It’s a great tool for those who want to use it. I’ve been really impressed so far, especially for the price tag. I can’t wait for a wireless one to come out!.Version: 2.1

Very happyJust started using this. Ultrasound wasn’t even an option when I started back in the dark ages. I’ve just started with the device over the past few weeks using online tutorials and you tube videos to get used to it before taking a certification course. It’s great for what I’ve needed with just a basic knowledge - vascular access, basic cardiac function point of care imaging, finding abscess collections, looking at joints, looking at ganglion cysts, etc. Service and responsiveness to questions has been outstanding..Version: 1.7.0

Handy, great for medical educationWe use our Butterflys for med Ed. We use them both on models in the lab and in the inpatient setting. Image quality is most often good. Even if it’s staticky we can determine the answer to our clinical questions..Version: 2.19.0

First dayThe probe and software are simple to use. And easily moved around the clinic. Everyone has an iPhone.Version: 2.10.1

Love it, need educationI’m a veteran EM physician and US mainly FAST exam was just being taught when I graduated my residency in 1997. I truly love this device but since the company made me, and seems like I had no choice as an early purchaser, pay $400/hr.....I just ask in return for them to continue giving us video tutorials especially geared to our specialties. Once I see more educational tutorials as a subscriber, Butterfly will get 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 1.12.1

Very satisfiedI am a cardiologist and I use butterfly iQ in my office/outpatient . I am extremely satisfied with the image quality for heart and lung in most cases and it’s portability. Just a downside is the absence of PW in cardiac preset..Version: 2.4.0

Great probe, great system but plenty room for improvementOverall, it’s a great product and a great self-worth, even though it has some room for improvement, particularly specially in larger devices, such as iPads, one example is while scanning, It would be great to have multiple screens or even two screens for comparison purposes also, it would be great during scanning, while using the tool of biplane imaging do you have both of the screens showing side-by-side instead of vertically stackThis would allow for the user to have a better perspective of the structures while performing procedures, and also it would allow to have more room to see deeper structures will being side by side. Also also, it would be nice to have a tool in order to customize your presets while maintaining specific GTC parameters or create new presets.Version: 2.18.1

Best portable US for quick looksI think this is best portable US for someone starting in POCUS. The artificial intelligence makes acquiring images simple even for novice. Excellent for teaching as well. Highly recommend..Version: 2.2.1

Outstanding tool for medical education and patient careWonderful clarity of images in a very intuitive interface. This will change the game of mobile ultrasound market in terms of quality, portability, connectivity, interface, and cost. Students love it, residents are begging for it, and faculty are demanding more access to this technology. A big boon for the bedside ultrasound community. Thanks.Version: 1.1.5
