✓ FANTASTIC!I’m an avid fly fisher and an app developer, so I know how much effort must have gone into this game and I have to say, after days of searching for an adequate fishing simulator for lockdown, I have found it. I had the old version but I wasn’t prepared to purchase new rivers and lakes and I eventually got bored of the free ones. I love the fact that in this new version you can tie flies and study insects. Most anglers will know that there is much more to fishing than just casting and reeling in, and this game certainly backs that up. The degree of professionalism is brilliant and I like how you have to actually work for your fish instead of just hoisting out of the water like in most fishing sims. ✓ Amazing game only one problem!This game is amazing! Perhaps the best on the market! I spend hours on this game learning the sites and having fun! My only question is how do can you land the big fish 35 plus without breaking them off? Side note: I think there should be a option to head to head battle with your friends biggest fish wins! ✓ Would be 5 stars.......I love this game, I fly fish whenever I can, when I can’t I play this. Great fly selection and great rivers, also love that you can tie your own flies! However I recently purchased the iPhone X and had to download the game again. When I opened the game I tried to restore my purchases and was only able to get 5 of the 20+ rivers that I had PURCHASED. I cannot find a way to restore all my purchases, I also lost all my progress, my flys, everything! I really love this game but I spent a good bit on it to support the dev. and now have lost everything. The latest update had me confused for a little while, to the point where earlier today I wrote a review that I thought was true but have now discovered was simply my not noticing that my leader got reset to the lightest available. ✓ Excellent remakeI have to say I am very impressed with this new fly fishing simulator. The graphics on the game have been improved, there are more fish species, and I love the new feature that allows the user to create/tie flys. This game also features very realistic fish behavior. The fish in the game react just as fish would in real life to the environment around them. The fish even seem to sit in the river where they would in real life (deep holes, eddies, etc.) Now for my very few complaints over the new HD fly fishing simulator. I personally think this new simulator is slower than the previous, such as when you are switching between sites. But that in all is my only slight complaint and in conclusion I must say that this is the most realistic fishing game on the App Store period..Version: 5226

✓ Breathtaking...........BUT there’s a but.....Paul, this is phenomenal. I’m an obsessive angler but know nothing about IT. Despite the latter, it’s obvious to me the thousands of hours of work and love you’ve put into your creation. I’ve done little else for days except go to the loo - I’ve had cauda equina/back surgery so can’t do the real thing for a bit. The BUT is the crashing issue. It’s like somebody sneaking up behind you with a pair of scissors and snipping your line. It actually ruins the game and makes me reluctant to keep playing. ✓ This is Great!!!This sim is great for not only its complexity, but also MORE love it’s perceived simplicity... it’s fine mechanics are there and allow you to just do what you’re here to do, RELAX and FISH! It’s technical as well and has the sensitive nuances... I love it, visually it’s gorgeous, not all jumbled up screen, just the essentials and beautiful scenic realistic places... So many fishing sites! You can create your own flys!!! Great detail and great content. This is truly brilliant and very well done 👍 It’s also a great anxiety buster! Some small ideas- Perhaps device vibration with line tension would be a neat effect. Guess that could be phones only... Being able to pan your view side to side, maybe gyroscopically, for more area to cast, rotate view to utilize up or down stream but hey it’s truly not necessary Thank you for creating something pretty amazing and realistic! Still wouldn’t change too much of a very good thing, the feel of realism is pretty good, perhaps as it gets for sim on an electronic device. The more I fish the better it seems to get. ✓ Relaxing and smoothI downloaded the original free game. Played for an hour and bought the whole kielbasa. Was never disappointed. Downloaded thIS HD version and didn’t wait an hour. The flow of the water is so nice and smooth. Fighting the fish feels more streamlined, And I still love the beautiful ambient sounds. Adding fly tying was over the top awesome. ✓ This is a rewrite of previous post: Good app, poor support.I have apologized to the developer for the previous post. The problem I had was on MY end - it was not a fault with the app. While it did take a little longer than expected to receive a reply, (he had an issue with his email) Paul did reply and was very helpful. I have found this app to be a blast! While there is a minor issue here and there, they are easily overlooked due to the sheer enjoyment in using the app. Great scenery, great audio of the rivers and surrounding areas - and some beautiful fish to boot. Thanks for a really good app, Paul. And especially for your patience regarding my mess up. I’d give the app itself 4 stars, perhaps five. But the two-star rating is due to lack of communication from customer support. I purchased a multi-river pack, but never received any download notification. I sent four separate emails to two different email addresses. All four attempts came back as undeliverable. If the developer is experiencing a server issue, that is one thing. However, a note could have been posted on the app store that they were/are having server issues. A refund would be appreciated..Version: 5140

The game is fantastic and very realistic, but there is one major glitch - many times when I have hooked a large fish and played it for a while the game crashes and restarts at the main menu. ✓ Another brilliancy from Paul HalterPaul has been at the business of creating the perfect fly fishing sim for a long time. I have owned some of his earlier fly fishing programs (plus an ice fishing sim that was a hoot). He keeps improving. This newest version of the HD sim pulls you into the experience and, just like the real thing, you know there are other things you should be doing, but you make just one more cast. Then another... :-). When I saw his half price special to get the complete set of rivers, flies, rods and leaders, I jumped on it. Regarding rod behavior, as in real life, the more I have practiced casting, the better my control. One thing - it would be nice to be able to make reach, roll and puddle casts, but I suspect that would be a programming nightmare. One easy add-on though would be a depth range data for a stretch of river - to better choose strike indicator depth and split shot. You can see the speed of the water. But, in real life, you’d assess the depth by wading it or walking to different perspective points to estimate it. Small quibble. Buy the sim. Especially for iPad, where it shines. You too can be snatching brookies at 2am instead of sleeping..Version: 5095
✓ Not bad at all.Excellent wee sim. Sounds and water effects are really nice. Fly selection grows as you fish, plus you can make your own creation and see how well (or not) it fishes. Only given 4 stars though as you can’t strip the line! Would be nice if you could to save you having to reel in and spool out line every cast. Makes me think that stripping the line isn’t included in the sim, but I do it anyway. Minor issue but would make the sim much better. Would also be nice if you could add some European rivers or lochs. I know you travel the states but you should pop over to Scotland for a few days and get some new footage. Lovely waters here 🙂 Other than that I love it. Had to give up fly fishing due to suffering from lateral epicondylitis (or tennis elbow as it’s better known) but this sim helps bring back good memories. Excellent work sir. ✓ Fantastic with room for improvementsThis fly fishing simulation has amazing physics, the algorithm behind the movement of the line on the video backdrops is just stunning. The number of available rivers open the door to hours of fly fishing enjoyment. There is room for improvement, what would make it truly amazing are : - A better UX/UI as the interface can be a bit clunky, there is room for improvement here. - options to use cm instead of inches for those of us who use a different measurements (Europe in my case) - for those of us who buy the whole package could we have just one button to download everything or by sub packages please as it took me more than 100 clicks to download all of it. - solving the crashing bug (when pulling a fish) would be amazing as it can be a been of an immersion breaker. - an button to load a random river would be nice for those of us who bought the full package as it takes forever to scroll to the bottom of the list - when making a fly, it would be nice to have a visual next the name of the different materials it will be quicker to preview. - Also I am unsure how the landscape mode is set for the iPad in the app but the left side of the screen where the reel is and the hotspot section is also the same area where the iOS Notification Center can be triggered which is annoying. If the landscape mode was properly set the Notification Center should be pulled from the top when the app is opened, a fix would be appreciated as it interferes with the usability. Congratulations to the developer, fantastic simulation. Update: love the latest update with improved AI and fish fighting, 5 stars, amazing job! Update 28/05/2020, the updated algorithm when fighting a fish is fantastic, it feels very organic.
