Syntronik for Negative User Reviews

Could be better. What I don’t like is that some of the sounds have the filter and amplitude envelopes sampled so that you really can’t tweak them. What looks like a bunch of different synths is really just a similar set of filters and modulators with themed skins that styled after different synths but not very different functionally. The layering abilities and effects section are nice though..Version: 1.0.1

Scam within a scamIf you, like me, are dumb enough to plop down money for this, hoping, reasonably, for some synth goodness, forget it. Wanna upgrade? You need at least thirty more quid. This price point is something like multi level marketing, ie, a scam. I don’t know why this company never bothers researching legit competition properly. I am expecting a refund, right now. No more scams, here or elsewhere..Version: 1.2.4

Really Good But Broken in BeatMaker 3 :(This is a great idea and execution for a one of a kind AUv3 synth app. Unfortunately the last update broke it in BeatMaker 3, rendering my $40 investment not very useful for now. Constantly the GUI does not show, constantly crashes, and does not always produce sound. Also, you should be able to reorder effects in the rack but you cannot. I will update my rating when BeatMaker 3 issues are fixed..Version: 1.2

Sounds Fantastic! But such a mess↸⇀↱⇒⇓↨Undeniably rich layers of analog sounds make this an excellent sounding app, however the UI seems to compound some organizational issues that are present. Maybe there are just too many parameters within each section . Maybe there are too many sections - several synth voices multiplied by synth type and synth parameters, an extensive effects rack of up to 5 effects, arpeggios ... each section feels locked away from the others and if you do manage to get multiple synth tracks playing simultaneously there’s no visual cue as to which one you are editing ... maybe it deserves more time and another star, but it just doesn’t add up to other stuff that’s available..Version: 1.2.3

MisleadingThe string box sounds all sound like 80’s synth, and are not realistic at all. I’ll be requesting a refund..Version: 1.1

CrashesI have an iPad Pro, 10.5 inch.. and while I’d love to review this app, it simply will not open. Which is a shame, since I bought an iRig IO 49 to use with my iPad, along with this app..Version: 1.1

Some issues so far...It’s freezing quite often. Keys stick and won’t release, then it won’t make any sound at all and I have to close it down and restart the app. If it worked flawlessly it would be awesome. It’s great when it’s working, but this happens often enough it makes it unreliable to record with. Please fix this. It’s not fun when you’re in a groove and it just stops working. I’d rate it a 5 if it ran without any issues. Also it won’t allow me to register my copy of deluxe. I can sign in with a browser fine, but when signing in through the app it refuses to recognize my account. There seems to be no way of registering iOS apps through a browser though. Any fix for this yet?.Version: 1.2.2

One sound…. All I GotYou browse instruments. Pick the one you want and load it, then select the sound (usually only one or two choices). Then play. You get one crappy sound. Switch instrument and preset and you get the same sound, even with only 1 instrument loaded at a time. Don’t buy this even if it’s free.Version: 1.2.4

Just good as a toyWas not impressed with the OS version, this iOS release is even worst. Filters are rather poor and envelopes just a joke. Most poly mode sounds have an attack even with attack envelope set to zero. Not a true emulation, just good to toy around..Version: 1.1

Some okay sounds, but not worth the costIK Multimedia’s pricing model is confusing at best. I’ve sorted out that Syntronik CS comes with only 4 instruments and a handful of patches. This version comes with 17 instruments and I think 50 patches. But if you’re going to do it, just download the CS version and pay the $99 for Deluxe and call it a day. That comes with everything they offer. Be aware though, if you have the desktop version, this is NOT an iPad version of that. It’s Syntronik 1 not 2, and if you do what I tried and manually match some of the patches from the desktop version, just know that they will either not sound anywhere near the original, or close but not exact. Some of the effects are missing, and since this is v1 and not v2, the entire advanced Edit panel is missing. One other annoyance is that I found several places where it was advertised that you could purchase single synths in the store. That is NOT the case. All links in the Synth manager just take you to the store where there are only 2 products. $79 or $99. The final annoyance was that once I spent the money on this version, it disn’t give me a discount on the higher tier versions, so if you plan to upgrade, it’ll still cost you full price. So again, try out the CS version and then just decide if you want to buy the $79 or $99 packages. Don’t bother with this one unless you plan to tinker a lot and make your own sounds..Version: 1.2.4

20 for a 9.99 purchaseBased on a demo add video I wanted to purchase noir. It showed the purchase available for 9.99 but would not let me purchase. It also showed the synth in the included in the 9.99 bundle. I purchased that and The synth is available with none of the presets. That noir button is now letting me pay another 9.99 for purchase. Those pay walls are deceptive at worst, poorly set up at best. 20$ isn’t expensive for a vey than, but this is an iOS toy and the purchase was convoluted and left me feeling ripped off..Version: 1.2.1

Sneaky advertisementWatch out before you buy. You will NOT get 22 instruments and 450 presets when you buy this app. You only get 17 instruments and a few presets. If you want the full collection, you will have to pay an extra $120 The description and the info on the App Store is written so you miss this. Sure it does say so but it also makes you think it doesn’t. I’m sure this was done intentionally for an upsell. They won’t get my money by being sneaky. So disappointed by this company with an app that I wanted to love..Version: 1.2

Nice app, but a little misleadingFirst off, this is a very nice, two-oscillator virtual analog synth with great sounding filters, an amazingly good arpegiator/phrase sequencer, and some really nice effects that plays really well with pretty much any USB MIDI controller. But it’s not an emulator of the synths implied. All of the “synths” are simply skins applied to the synth engine so they look something like something else. The biggest giveaway is “99”, which is implied as an emulation of the Yamaha SY99. The SY99 is a six-operator FM synth coupled to an AWM digital synth. Yet, the controls are for the same, 2-oscillator synth as everything else. Frankly, coming from IK Multimedia, I expected better. The free version includes “emulations” of some dual oscillator synths, so it’s not exactly a great guide to what you’re getting in the paid version. SampleTank, iGrand, and iElectric are fantastic products. But this is a ten-dollar-disappointment..Version: 1.2.3

Juno 60I purchased the in app Juno 60 keyboard for $10.99 and was disappointed to find it’s a different layout from the original Juno 60 and missing several features of the Juno 60, such as chorus. I suggest carefully looking into any extra in app purchases on the IK Media website before spending your cash.Version: 1.1

Great idea but incompleteThis synth is more like a sampler, i wish i could change the oscillator waves, make presets and save them. Also need the ability to automate parameters through ios daws.Version: 1.2.1

Sounds not changingI bought the oberheim pack and the presets aren’t changing when I select different ones.Version: 1.2.3

Bit restrictiveLarge array of cool presets but doesn’t seem to any way to start with just an initialised present and an oscillator sample in order to build your own patch from scratch. Every single preset seems to have a warbling detune on the oscillator (even with Osc 2 off and no LFO assigned to pitch) which makes it impossible to get tight punchy tones. Purchased instruments periodically become unavailable. Restoring in app purchases has no effect and the add-on show as installed in the store menu. Hopefully a reinstall will fix..Version: 1.2.2

Promising app but needs work!***WILL UPDATE AS APP IS REVISED*** I was pretty skeptical of the concept but had to give this a chance because CS Box is such a great app. That said, this was a pleasant surprise in terms of sound quality! Then you are confronted with the fact that at $9.99 you only get two sounds per synth? The interface, leaves something to be desired and feels cluttered. CS Box has such a direct and intuitive interface. In particular, I wish the synth browsing section was cleaner. Wish List: • Get rid of In App Purchasing!* • MIDI implementation needs work • Please add MPE (Midi Polyphonic Expression) • Clean up interface • Allow for user samples to replace stock sounds! • Even better, create modules CS Box Style, so you could mix and match components from different synths (ie. Sounds from Wavestation, Filter from Oberheim, Chorus from Jupiter, etc) * I wish IK and developers would do away with in app purchases, unless the paradigm is free to demo and then you buy all the content as a whole. The price is exorbitant as is but will keep an eye out for this to go on sale!.Version: 1.2.4

Connection tutorial video neededWhy not to show how to make the connection with something like Yamaha DGX 650 like how to make the connections and to enjoy 😊 I have all these great app but none off then actually shows how to make the connection to the piano or what will be needed depending on the type of keyboard or piano like Yamaha DGX 650 which I have.Version: 1.0

Subpar and outdatedSubpar synth sounds, nothing that stands out. Too expensive for the app and the price to add additional synths. No AUV3, basic midi, and very basic editing. Desperately need updating..Version: 1.2.4

Ha potential, but some fatal flaws ruined itSyntronik is a great app, that gives you many classic synths... but has two flaws that have pressured me to give this two stars instead of three. First off- you pay nine bucks for the app, and only get two to four sounds for each synth, then you must pay $70 for all the full synth sounds. This is just a cartoonishly stupid price for an in app purchase, i mean, that’s why this app isn’t getting nearly enough downloads and attention! Another reason is... I’ll put it bluntly; the keyboard is the most inconvenient ever! It spazzes out sometimes when you play at certain tempos, and with the new update, you have to press extremely hard on some of the keys; if at all! Maybe it’s because I’m using an iPhone instead of an Ipad, but this is still unacceptable keyboard quality! This app would be a beyond great resource if these flaws were fixed..Version: 1.2.1

Au in gb will not merge to audioGreat sounds, but I need the merge function to tranfer songs from gb to logic for further tweaking..Version: 1.1

A giant Rompler with some MixBox effects. If you purchase full package this eats up 6.2GB of storage. While the effects are nice. The app is kinda clunky. Changing presets take forever as they have to load giant sample files for each preset. Needs trimming down. Sounds very nice but not spectacular. Sound tends to be a bit on the distorted side (not in a good way). I have noticed that with Most IKM apps on ISO. I have SampleTron and it also has a similar distortion with no effects. Hopefully they will make one that models the synths instead of a ROM Player with IR effects..Version: 1.2.4

Not terribleThere's a plethora of synths, old analogues. I have one or five of the synths that are attempted here. They're OK-ish, but not great and certainly not worth £80. Main problem is that the app kept crashing when you went to edit. if that's happening on the free version, you ain't spending money. Need to be super smooth on the demo app..Version: 1.1

Need refund. Please cancel order song not exporting I’m not interested in this app anymore..Version: 1.2.3

Sounds great, needs midi channel selectionWill be great when midi channel selection is competitive with contemporary synths. Omni midi connection is big error..Version: 1.0

Update!!!!!!!!!!!2 years and no update for improvements.Version: 1.2.4

Won't finish uncompressingI'd love to leave a good comment, but the app won't finish the setup files. It starts to extract them and shows some pictures while it's doing that, but after 10 seconds it freezes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app 4 times...same thing each time :( and I'd really like this to work too. Edit: Finally got it to install! It seems like most of the controllers are disabled until you buy it. It's pretty expensive, but I'm sure it's well worth it if everything works correctly when you but it. The synth Bully blew my mind! Even with its limited features. With what I 'could' do with this one, it convinced me to want to buy it. The other synths sounded exactly the same as each other and couldn't get a feel for how each synth is supposed to sound. Being a demo version, maybe let people have at least one original sound per synth to give a better idea of what they could have/be working with, if they paid for it. Otherwise, this is going to be a killer synth (with a tad more work). Really looking forward to hearing the complete version!.Version: 1.0

Not TerrificI paid £14.99 and what I’ve seen and heard has potential. But it’s just okay and I won’t be using it for anything. The price of the full pack is just ridiculous. Knowing what I know now would I pay £14.99 for what is basically a demo version again, No? Would I recommend it, No? Very Disappointing..Version: 1.2.4

Not an EmulatorI was expecting at least the character of the synths to change from device to device but it’s really the same synth engine wrapped in different skins. It’s blatantly misleading. The proof is in the FM synths. They’re the same two oscillators as in the analogue ones. So again, the same synth each time, just wrapped in a different skin..Version: 1.2.4

Need to do an update with better featuresNeed oscillators Need a 4 channel mixer Need a 4 channel audio mixer When you select form A to B or C need to make a separate selection for each synth example you select B and you still hear A.Version: 1.1

App freezes seconds after startingThe app use to work beautifully, now it freezes seconds after starting. It has become unusable. I have tried it both on my iPad Pro and my iPhone XS and it does not work. Please please please fix it..Version: 1.2.4

Could be betterSays 50% off but the in app prices don’t change.Version: 1.2.2

Potentially good but....Can’t automate parameters when used inside a daw like BeatMaker 3. Needs modernising to compete with other iOS synths’ functionality in this area. Nice fx section. They should make this part also available as a separate AU for use as insert multi fx unit inside iOS daws. Everyone would buy it.....Version: 1.1

User interface needs a lot of work.Simply loading a synth is confusing. Instead of just being able to pick a synth and load it, you first have to pick one of the banks, select a synth and select a preset. Then you have to tap the tiny pic of the synth to get to the controls. It’s not exactly conducive to just starting from scratch. And you have to register an account just to access the help file, which is sketchy. I already paid for the app, and this is completely unnecessary and frustrating if you just want to learn to use the thing. To get the keyboard up on an iPhone screen, you have to access a menu and tap the option for Extended, instead of simply swiping from the bottom like a lot of other apps do (or just have the keyboard always up and have the control panel for the synth scrollable). There are some other things that need to be addressed, but these are some of the major ones. I already wish that I hadn’t spent the $15..Version: 1.2.4

No iPhone X Support?I have the full paid version of this app, but whenever I try using it as an AU within GarageBand on the iPhone X, the scaling of the plugin is messed up and I can’t see the bottom section of any of the synthesizers. An update is needed!.Version: 1.1

It’s a good startWaiting for Audio Unit support before I invest more. I use an iPad Pro with BeatMaker 3 and AUv3 is the only iOS instrument standard I am taking serious..Version: 1.0

Pretty F**king disappointedI’ve seen some rips before but nothing like this for $23, let’s just say it’s very light on the presets and to get the ‘ more ‘ version is a small fortune it makes me wonder what the free version gets. Also in spite of the hype it’s not very good unless you want to tweak, and tweak you shall but there isn’t much to tweak because it’s sample based so… buy the more version or get sweet F/A for your money, I’ll be sticking to the sweet F/A version because IK multimedia is not ever getting another cent of mine, I figure I could make it do some weird acid loops if nothing else, it functions.. that’s about it and most other apps can do it better for less. Sorry IK, you screwed me over, you made me believe there was a full package here and there isn’t, that makes you dishonest liars and you should include everything to compensate everyone who paid for this app. Liars..Version: 1.2.4
