✓ Unexpectedly difficultPre ordered this beautiful game. Appreciate how it takes the board game format to places a board game can’t really go. I’d like to see how far it goes, but I’ve failed the third tutorial mission eight times. Can’t figure out what I’ve got to do to prevent my abject stomping by the AI during the tutorial missions. ✓ Great, but...Why are we forced to do tutorials on the hard levels? This messes with strategy, wastes turns, gives the AI opportunity to gain the upper hand. ✓ Game is great. Campaign is aggravating.Everything about the game from its art to its flavor to its play is great. But the campaign is extremely frustrating because the AI opponent is so overpowered. Rather than having an even, if asymmetrical, playing field, you feel as if your strategy doesn't matter because it's more of a case of having to do specific moves in a specific order to win. The AI opponent gets powers of the bat that might take you 10 rounds to earn for yourself which completely undermines the area control aspect. If the opponent can evict you in round two and you can't get that power until round twelve, why even try to control the area? It's unfair even to call it an AI because it doesn't have any intelligence. It doesn't change its strategy according to your moves. It just uses brute force to disable you. That is my least favorite kind of solo game -- one that acts like a random puzzle where if you don't make the right move in round one that will defeat the opponent, you've already lost. ✓ Review on gameLooking at the game online I saw that it looked interesting so I downloaded it then I proceeded to the campaign where the game starts but instead of the campaign my game crashed. I found this similar with other game modes such as the skirmish and playing online. A friend recommended it to me and I saw that the game play looked fun though because the game is crashing in all the same spots. I make my move against a friend, 30 minutes later I get a notification that it’s my move, and the game asks me to login. I’ve been logged in all the time, it’s not that hard to keep the login credentials. It’s a pain to have to enter them again. ✓ Unfair starting pointWhichever game mode you play against AI, they will always have about 3+ upgrades. It doesn’t matter if you have all of (say 4 ) lamp generating places they will still earn more than you and can buy 4 thugs with 3 coins and 1 urchin in an orphanage. The game is polished but not balanced at all. With the Ai it’s more a hit and miss whether they get less useful. I once ended up on normal difficulty with an AI who had the Sister upgrade from thier first go. That costs 10 lamps in total to buy the upgrade. In total, the game has no glitches but is almost completely unfair in terms of what you get and what the AI gets Don’t play. It’s not worth the money.EmandowVersion: 1.0.15

✓ Fonts too smallThis game is really fun and challenging. The fonts however are way too small for people that don’t have perfect eyesight. I can only play for a few min before my eyes start hurting. In spite of the extremely small fonts... I love the gameplay. I would like to see a way to speed up the opponent in campaign mode. Also when starting out I think there needs to be a better explanation of the pawns. The thug for instance disappears after a few turns. That was a surprise. ✓ Great gameFirst game I have paid for in aaaages that deserves the money. Deep and polished gameplay, great animation and no bugs to report. It’s also just so much fun, I’ve lost and wanted to replay levels instead of being frustrated. This game and the developers is worthy of an investment. Very happy with this purchase. EDIT 1. From 5 to 3 stars, like others have mentioned I’ve come to a point where the AI is just ridiculously biased on whatever setting, seemingly able to create as many urchins and thugs and truant officers and assassins as they like all when they’re on little to no lamps or gold. ✓ It’s ok, but you don’t get better by playing itI like the art, the theme, the layout, etc. What I don’t like is the feedback within the game, or the complete lack thereof. There’s no clear way to counter the campaign AIs strategy. In other words, I don’t come away from any match feeling like I’ve learned how to play better. I cannot discern any difference in the difficulty settings either, and normally I hate turning difficulty down. Anyway, this game immediately gives me the urge to sit down with pen and paper and math it out. But I don’t want to. I just want to play and get an idea of what I did wrong instead of feeling like, well that happened when I suddenly lose my maxed out gang. Also, the level objectives are vague and as don’t understand them. The language they use is ol timey and cute but not helpful. Do I need to do all objectives? ✓ Amazing game, but multiplayer seems closer to dead than aliveSimply amazing game Relatively simple gaming concepts, very difficult and complex to master. The game loses one star for multiplayer (as opposed to two because this game is so awesome). The game losesone more star for lack of iCloud synchronization. Implement this! It’s so easy todo so. The game is full of tactical nuances, which the single player campaign or more specifically the various AI personalities do a great job of teaching you. To beat the campaign on hard will take you a while between learning the game mechanics, absorbing tactical nuances (ex. scouting a place that likely has a trap last), to developing your strategy to win. The game is well balanced. There doesn’t seem to be a dominant strategy and there are counters to everything. Unfortunately, the multiplayer seems more dead than expected. The “postal” version of multiplayer works, but once again, not as lively as expected for a game of this caliber. The “live match” version of multiplayer, which I prefer, is dead, period. I’ve never managed to get a match. In addition, the login system for multiplayer is just amateur. You guys are obviously very talented app developers; put in a little more work to make the multiplayer login seamless. Also no iCloud synchronization. I think that sentence speaks for itself. ✓ PreviewI wish that these developers would allow you to play a portion of the game before purchase. This has been in my recommended games for years. I purchased. I didn’t care for it. This isn’t an indictment of the game itself which appears to have great artwork, a very decent tutorial, & interesting elements. I just didn’t find it to be what I thought it would be.
