Don’t waste your moneyBought in error, the product has NOTHING special and you can get a far better experience from FREE apps. I have requested a refund but it appears my efforts may be in vain. Don’t mind rewarding performance but this not worth the money Sketcha has more for free..Version: 1.0.10

Amazing brushes but very limited features. As the title says. Great selection of brushes and the workspace on this app is great! There’s a satisfying realism when scribbling down on the screen. You actually get a moleskine feeling kinda vibe. However as a graphic designer, the lack of an import image/photo option, makes this program pretty useless in comparison with programs like Procreate and Afinity Designer. Definitely not worth paying a fee for, in it’s current state..Version: 1.1.4

Waste of moneyA lot of bugs and glitches, export and import issues, no layers, freezes a lot!!! Completely useless, doesn’t even give me a refund from the subscription I made.. which I was being forced into getting since every time I opened or touched the drawing paper the premium sub ad appeared..Version: 1.3.0

Okay, but nothing spectacularI have a Studio subscription for Actions and Timepages, which I enjoy using (although they’re not without issue) but Flow is about as advanced and sophisticated as MS Paint. The UI is pretty, but doing anything beyond changing pen and colour is more of a pain than it needs to be. Exports are pretty low quality too. All in, not worth a subscription when there are so many better alternatives out there..Version: 2.1.5

Wanted to test it without having to subscript or start a free trialWanted to try the app out but every time I went to use a pencil to draw a line it would take me to the subscription page. I don’t want to sign up for a free trial or a monthly subscription. If it’s free to download you should be able to use the app for free with limited resources. Then if your happy with the app then buy a subscription. I had it for about a minute then deleted it off my phone..Version: 2.1.4

Can't use without a subscriptionCan't use without a subscription — edit — It’s a drawing app. Let me draw, show me something so I might want to pay. Starting a free trial which turns into a paying one without consent is not a good marketing/sales practice. Pretty sad, I had a lot of respect for the Moleskine brand....Version: 2.0

Seriously ...?!Don’t mind paying a fair price for a good drawing app but signing up for a subscription as well? Don’t feel it’s justified. The privacy settings are unsettling too. So count me out..Version: 2.2

BADWorst app ever I can’t even do anything with our a subscription coming up I’m sticking to other drawing apps 😡.Version: 2.1.4

Very UnstableThe first time I installed this app it just crashed every time before I could do anything. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and after another couple of crashes It did load. However it was hit and miss whether what I drew stayed on the screen or just disappeared. I gave up and deleted it. A ten minute trial was enough to disappoint..Version: 1.1.4

Have to constantly restartThis program was great at first through the trial, once I paid for it I have to constantly restart every time I use the eraser. It’ll work just fine while I’m drawing. When I erase, it works fine on the first try, if I lift my pen and do it again it does nothing. I’ll try to draw and nothing happens. I rechecked my preferences, I saw there was an update, so I did the update, and it still continued to do the same thing. When it stops working I have to close the app and restart it. It works fine at first use, but if I want to erase it’ll do the same thing all over again and I have to restart. Prior to the update, I had used the pen to see if it was the program or my preferences and it didn’t draw anything. When I restarted the program I had all the squiggles and erase marks I had done with the pen and eraser. It’s really annoying to have to restart the program every time I need to use my tools multiple times..Version: 1.2.7

Pencil latency ruins an almost perfect appI use Procreate and the Apple Notes app all the time. I recently discovered Flow and was blown away. The ui is beautiful. The color pallet is beautiful. The tools are, you guessed it, beautiful. The infinite canvas is something I didn’t know I needed until I used it. Now I can’t imagine life without it. I got so excited by this app the moment I discovered it. However, there is one obvious thing that breaks my flow state and ruins the experience. The Apple Pencil lag in Flow NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED. Come on developers! Open the notes app with the newest iPad Pro and you will see the difference. If I’m expected to get lost in my ideas and forget that I’m using a digital notebook, I can’t be distracted by the line lagging behind the pencil. That doesn’t happen in Notes or Procreate. Fix it and I will shower you in all my cash. I hope to be pleasantly surprised by an update very soon, I know I’m not the only one..Version: 1.1.4

Subscription service? I'm surprised they're even chargingGiven the quality of one time purchase apps like procreate and autodesk’s sketchbook and even the remarkable quality of some free apps, like adobe draw, it’s hard to believe the developers working for a quality brand like moleskin would presume to charge me *monthly* for this mediocre and uninspiring drawing app. look at the lifelike brushes in those other apps. in this one only the pencil. look at what notability is willing to give me for a one time purchase of $10. I think it shows a lot of chutzpah and the developers should be ashamed of themselves. deleted. *EDIT* I'm floored by the developers politeness, to the point where I'll give the app another try. the app you're describing sounds like notability, which is a one time purchase but ok. I'll try it again..Version: 1.0.9

Subscription? No, thank you.I don't mind spending money on an app but I will not pay a suscription..Version: 2.1.5

Mixed experienceThe design is lovely and especially the pens. However I’ve noticed a couple of limitations that deter me from buying a subscription: 1) though pen lines look sharp whole drawing, once you lift your stylus/finger, the lines become lower resolution - as if jpg compression has been applied. They stay that way. That puts me off using the app for art. 2) though there are options to see page edges rather than just an unbroken horizontal scroll of paper, there is no way to “turn the pages” like a notebook. This is unwieldy for taking notes because when you swipe the canvas you don’t always move it far enough to get a whole blank page. This put me off using the app for notetaking in work. If the above points aren’t important to you, there’s lots to like here - but for me they are problems..Version: 3.1.0

Scam - app does not let you do ANYTHING w/o $Pretty appalled that you have to fork over your credit card information before trying a single stroke. you can't even erase the dumb logo they drew into your first page; you literally can't do anything. if this was a subscription only app, you need to make that clearer. I've seen candy crush ripoffs handle this better.Version: 2.1.5

Good but not good enoughIt’s a brilliant concept and easy to use but £24 a year? It’s not the price that’s the issue but failure to compete in the market. If you have an Apple product you may as well get Procreate, it’s a one time purchase and you have the same features plus more freedom to create. The limitations and inability to compete with Procreate or even the free auto desk sketchbook is literally the biggest negative for me. This app is not spectacular enough for the subscription, and the the free version is far too limited and I believe it’s done purposely for you to spend an extortionate amount for this genre of app, seems like a money grab more than a "support our business".Version: 2.8.4

Last ditch effort to remain relevantThis application is inferior in every way to the already free version of Notes that comes with your Apple device..Version: 2.8.4

HorableEvan if it was free it would still be a very bad program. It’s looks nice but that’s about all it has going for it.Version: 1.1.4

Not intuitive enoughI tried this out and it has some features which I really like. But there’s a big but for me ..... it’s hard to remember which tool does what, the saving process/organisation isn’t easy and sadly the delete everything is way too easy. So guess what happened..Version: 1.1.4

Love this app but Afraid to use itWas going to give 5 stars but the app crashed my entire phone TWICE now - like it acted as though it were bricked for nearly 5 minutes both times - now I’m afraid to even open it! Too bad as I was really enjoying it ... :(.Version: 2.3

Please make it freeI got the app because it seemed really nice but when i got it I can’t even draw without the add for paying. I can’t even draw without paying which makes this app useless for people who don’t have money or that don’t want to pay. I think this app should be free but if you guys still want the money then have limited tools... Although by the looks of this I think this would be a great app is it was free....Version: 1.3.0

IT IS HORRIBLENot letting me draw or use the app it’s not ok its horrible.Version: 2.2.1

Hate subscriptionsIt’s pretty good but I’d rather buy an app outright than spend money every month/year..Version: 1.1.4

Literally trashhhhhhI download this game and I was excited to play but there was a subscription I was like oh boi I’m literally 10 years old I didn’t want to get the subscription litterly it’s trash do not download.Version: 2.4.5

Borders and text recognition. It should be possible to expand the borders of a document both vertically and horizontally, rather than being limited to one or the other. This is a significant limitation of the app and really reduces its functionality. It makes it annoying to use. It should also be possible for the app to convert writing to text. I can only assume this limitation is deliberate and designed to drive people to buy another Moleskine product that does offer this feature. Given this is a paid app, it should include this feature..Version: 2.7.5

This review only comes with one star, pay a subscription for the rest of them.I would recommend this if they added the vital missing feature: a onetime purchase option. Other similar apps offer the same functionality without the constant siphon on one’s bank account..Version: 2.5.1

Terrible performance interrupt workI am very disappointed of how poorly this app runs. The loading time when opening a page and the time it takes for it to load as you scroll though the page completely break the flow (ironically) of your work. Even for sections of the page that are not too saturated, this really interrupts the work and takes you out of the experience. I contacted costumer support, and after reviewing a video I sent them, they just told me it’s working “as intended.” Performance is terrible and they know it. I am working on a new iPad Air 4. Don’t know if this happens on pros, but be aware this is an issue. And for an app that is based on a subscription service, this is ridiculous, even the developer’s response is absurd. For me the issue got worst after the trial period and they refused to give a refund. For someone that’s been using moleskine notebooks for years and was excited for this app, this is extremely disappointed. The worst part is that the videos they show for the app don’t really show how bad loading times and loading of pages while scrolling are, even when their sketches are way more complex and elaborate than what I ever had on the page. Don’t judge performance based on the developer’s videos..Version: 2.1.4

I need helpWhen ever I go into the app it crashes I have deleted it and gotten it back but still doesn’t work.Version: 1.1.3

Advertised as freeIt is advertised as being free but you can’t do anything without a membership screen popping up. Would have been fine if it had been clearer it needed subscriptions instead of it being a free limited version..Version: 2.0

StupidSo I was excited to see that an app that I can use to draw or write notes on was compatible on my phone. But when I saw that you legit had to pay I immediately deleted it. The app is free until you open it.Version: 1.1.2

Keeps shutting down everytime I open itLove this app, I use it as my main sketchbook. HOWEVER, I would love it if it didn’t all of a sudden shut down everytime I opened it. I can’t even use it anymore which is super disappointing since I paid for the yearly subscription and I have a lot of work in there that I would like to salvage. Can someone please help me fix this Update: I just want to include that my phone and iPad are on the most recent ios, I have tried offloading the app and reloading, deleting the app and reinstalling. Force quitting the app and rebooting both of my devices and it’s still quitting as soon as I open the app. It’s having trouble “syncing” and loading the document. At this point I’m scared to lose all of my work and have trust issues when it comes to this app. Which is such a shame cause I really did enjoy it. Update 2: sent two emails, two tweets, and this review has been updated multiple times. I’m irritated by the lack of customer service. Especially when I see that the developers has responded to someone else’s comment here 21 hours ago at the time that I’m typing this. When I sent my first email 5 days ago..Version: 1.2.10

Beautiful yet not practicalLet me start with the good - this app has a beautiful interface with gorgeous colors. I adore it for doodling. But that’s all it is good for - doodling. It is not good for note-taking. I expected something a little more in-depth from Moleskine. First - I hate how the infinite page is horizontal - I’d prefer the option of portrait mode. Also, the tools (while amazing and lovely) get in the way of writing/reading your notes. There needs to be a better way of quickly accessing tools without them getting in the way - I know you can hide them, but it seems too cumbersome to hide/show as I’m working. Finally, I’d like a better way to store/file my sketches. Sometimes I create a list, sometimes a sketch, sometimes notes for an upcoming meeting. I’d like to store them in an easy to access system. I’m looking forward to the updates and improvements Flow makes - hoping for some good ones soon!.Version: 1.1.4

Requires immediate subscription ?Installed , was greeted immediately by pages of subscription options and complex bundles , eventually went to draw a single line and got sent back to a subscription pay wall screen - no thanks. Will just stick to pen and paper , uninstalled ..Version: 2.0.3

It is a descent app but there is some latency issue. The latency is noticeably high so it feels a little slow compared to other note apps. Since this app is not too different from other apps function-wise, I am not using this app any more. I may try using this again if they fix the latency issue but even so, there are good alternatives already. (I use iPad Pro 3rd gen and Apple Pencil 2.).Version: 1.0.8

Deletes all my hard work!I am an artist and a designer, and I have been using flow for a couple years now. I really liked this app, particularly for its wide range of colors, pen styles and easy to use design and layout. However, a couple months ago I was planning a large art piece (sketching and recording all of my measurements for an 8 foot quilt) when suddenly, I opened the app the next day, and my document had completely disappeared!! I am talking hours and hours of work GONE. I was so disheartened! 😭💔 Since then, I’ve had the same thing happen a few times when I know I didn’t delete them by accident. I’ve updated the app and this problem has continued to persist. Just now, I was working on a new sketch and when I re-opened the app 15 minutes later, I saw the document open and then disappear in front of me. I used to love this app, but until they fix this problem, I rate it one star..Version: 2.10.2

What?I can’t draw or do anything without buying a subscription. I can’t even tap the screen. I’m so confused, I didn’t even have it for a minute or two. I just deleted it, why can’t I draw or swipe the screen to see what’s going on without it telling me to buy a subscription. I saw this was Editor’s Choice and it looked pretty cool. I bought it, tried to draw a circle at least, and it showed up a poster thing telling me to buy a subscription. Can I at least draw and see what the game is like before you ask for me to buy a subscription? I just don’t understand. I’m rating this two stars and not one because it has a good concept and it looks awesome. If only I could test it out before it asked me to buy a subscription. Sigh, I wish people weren’t so greedy for money....Version: 2.1.5

Payment Up FrontHow can you even make a decision about an app that requires you to stump up some dosh before you can even access it to evaluate? Installed from App Store and app opens to a preinstalled ‘demo’ page. As soon as you attempt to do anything the Dick Turpin screen appears demanding you take out a subscription. Vendor must not have any confidence in its features if they require you pay before even seeing what features it contains. Very sad....Version: 1.1.3

Doesn’t work - activation problemI paid for the yearly bundle expecting it to work. It’s a never ending cycle of activation without actually delivering. Save you money. I will give it zero stars if I could. I should have know it’s a buggy software or downright fraud.Version: 2.4.7

It’s lack of features makes it useless to me.As an interior designer I was excited to see whether Flow could work well as my everyday design journal - a place where I collate ideas, inspiration and just generally make notes. I use procreate for artwork, and Flow could never replace that, but I thought it might replace my use of Notability. Sadly, I quickly found out that you can’t import photos and pictures, making it entirely useless in my case. It also doesn’t make auto-shapes, which I’d miss. It doesn’t use text boxes either. It’s such a shame, as it’s a beautiful app - I do prefer many things about it to Notabilty - the horizontal scrolling for one. The way you choose colour I like. The way you set up your personal pens and tools is lovely. But it’s just so lacking in features - honestly, I can’t understand who there target market is meant to be. There are better note taking apps, and there are obviously much better art apps. So it falls between two stalls, while trying to charge a higher price..Version: 1.1.3

How is this app “Apples app of the year”?So Apple is being paid to write reviews now??! Nothing new here - except the huge subscription price tag. Plenty of better alternatives. I use heaps of physical moleskine products - what a shame their digital product can’t meet the same great standards!.Version: 1.1.4

Limited # Of Images Can Be PastedWord of warning: Flow documents limit you to 50 maximum pasted images. I use Flow as my personal sketchbook, and as part of my creative process, I’m cutting/pasting all the time. After working for a month in a sketchbook, I hit the wall, and was alerted that I could not paste any more images into my file. This was completely out of the blue, no advance warning. Be aware: if your creative process involves pasting images, then you too may see this as a deal-breaker limitation to this app. Sadly, as a result of this I am forced to write a negative review. I’ve been enjoying Flow for about a month. Nice UX, quality tools, intuitive, and I love being able to have tools on my phone while drawing on the iPad. I also like having my sketchbook on the cloud, available on either phone or iPad (a function that comes in extremely handy). However, a paster must paste; this is a deal breaker. App developers, please remove this limitation. Thank you..Version: 2.2.2

Subscription needed before u can even start drawingApp asks you to set up a subscription before it even lets you use your pencil.. sorry but NO. Also are we going to pay a subscription for every single app we use from now on?! Developers really need to find a better business model because this one won't scale :/.Version: 1.3.0

So near but so farLike other reviewers I am frustrated because there are many things about this app that I love, and it seems to have been well engineered and crafted. But enough things have not been right (one of which was disastrous) that I am going to abandon it and continue my search for the best general purpose note taking and drawing app. I love the interface, and the feel when using the app, and the way you choose pens and colours. I hate the fact that you can only have an infinite canvas in one direction. I originally chose it because of the infinite canvas but it wasn’t clear that it was only one direction until I downloaded it. Recently I opened the app and found that I couldn’t open some of my files. I have reported an issue to them and they have come back to say the development team will get to it when they can. That’s no good to me and I will have to abandon those files and lose that work which is unforgivable. So I will stop using it, cancel my subscription and continue my search. Such a shame after such promise..Version: 2.7.1

HorribleEvery developer is jumping on the subscription model and they are completely oblivious to the fact that by forcing subscription modes on people they are alienating most of their users. We have a million drawing apps on the App Store already, and here comes Moleskine in 2019 and wants me to subscribe to use basic drawing tools. The first page I saw in the app was about a subscription and registering, I got turned off immediately, tried the app for 2 mins then deleted it. Goodbye..Version: 1.0.6

Subscription is a no no...This might be okay, but I’m seriously tired of all the subscription cash grabs. Tayasui Sketches is far better and no subscription. Moleskine should stick with it’s very excellent real world books and forget this nonsense..Version: 1.1.4

La vie à loyerToutes ces applis avec mensualités sont une aberration! Est-ce qu’on peut posséder quelques choses? Non, il faut louer! Bientôt il va falloir louer notre espace pour prendre du Soleil, pour respirer….Version: 2.3

Canˋt try itCanˋt try it.Version: 2.0

Not a free app - can’t even tryDon’t download this - you literally cannot do anything without a membership. Apple needs to start dinging these apps for lying about being free. Stop letting developers lie to your users, apple Update: the developer sent a condescending message in response to my FYI for the community saying, “In the future, it is best to read an app’s description in order to avoid future disappointment.” Seriously? And “it’s disappointing when things aren’t free, isn’t it?” Ugh. Just don’t have it labeled as free then, real easy. Sending obnoxious messages suggesting people don’t know how to read isn’t going to make anyone use your product. Further Update: I’m not sure why the developer keeps sending me responses with the exact same information. I have no idea why they say they can’t control the information that is listed about the app because that is false. Regardless, this review is not for the developers, it is for people who are looking for a free app. This isn’t a free app and that is not clear. End of story. Please stop sending me messages.Version: 3.1.1

Almost PerfectThe app as is is honestly amazing. I love all the different writing tools, hues, shades, etc. the cut tool is AMAZING and sets the app above note taking on paper. (We’ve all been there where we realized we needed to add something but couldn’t as we’ve already filled the space.) The eraser tool, erasing by targeted chosen marking or actual eraser that functions as you would expect an eraser to, is another feature that sets this far above paper note taking. A few things I wish the app had that would also take it one step further than physical paper note taking and make this a TRUE 5 star app: 1) the option to insert pictures from my camera roll. I am an extremely visual person and sometimes it’s easier to insert an image and make a few small notes instead of describing a visual and then making notes off of it. 2) the option to type in the notebook. I know that begins to defeat the purpose but the option to would be nice. 3) the ability to edit the color of a marking 4) the ability to search the notebook for things I’ve written on the pages. This feature alone almost made me stick with the free ios notes app instead of paying for one..Version: 1.1.4

OK with irritationsGreat scribbler but with some annoying limitations. There are two that I personally find significant. First, the infinite zoom is only in one one-dimension. So if you do have a wide diagram it’s impossible to zoom out even just a little bit to see the whole document. There is a ‘preview’ at the bottom but this isn’t always helpful. So forget ‘tall’ diagrams or the ability to zoom out. Secondly, the export cannot export your creation as a single image - the export cuts the image into pages and, with no indication where the page boundaries are during drawing, you can’t know where the cuts will be. You have to export and hope it’s not cut at a silly point. This app really needs to be able to export everything in one PNG. Finally, not a fault, just a ‘nice to have’ ... layers are always extremely handy with any digital drawing/writing/sketching app. So, layers one day? Having said that it is a well presented and pleasant app..Version: 1.1.3

Serious lagSerious pen lag and accuracy issues on this app. Expensive and a waste of time considering free or single price alternatives. Why during these times do companies insist on subscription models..Version: 2.0.3

No free stuff? Is there a free version?? Other apps have ‘limited’ free versions that folks can use and enjoy for a long time before deciding to commit to a subscription. It could have Less options, less features but still giving the user the ability to enjoy this app. £20 a year is a bit steep! I don’t even pay that for a physical journal. I would like to give it a good try before I commit to that and one week is definitely not long enough. How about adding a longer free trail time that lets folks use it but WITHOUT the subscription being set up. I know I’m bound to forget (I guess that’s what you hope for) and then I’m in it for £20 and another week later I find I’m not using it as much as I thought I would. Do a longer free time and then after that the subscription demand could come in. It looks great from the read up and feedback..Version: 1.2.6

Yet another subscription? No thanks!I Didn't bother trying it out as there's a subscription needed for using it past 14 days of free trial. Have been living my life without it quite well, and can live it that way!.Version: 1.1.3

Two years of notes GONE!When the latest update was automatically run on my iPad last week, the update process deleted 2 years of notes. All I have now is a single note with ‘312’ scribbled on a single page and nothing else. I am currently an annual subscriber, but after Moleskin deleted all of my notes, I will be cancelling my subscription and cannot recommend this app. For those of you that are using this app now, I recommend that you export all of your notes now before they too are deleted..Version: 2.7.5

Can’t get past membershipI absolutely love note-taking/doodling apps. I’m a bit addicted. So when I saw that Flow was the app of the day, and free, I downloaded it immediately! However, I am super disappointed because it seems to be stuck (at least for me) on opening up the membership option when I try to do anything. The app won’t even allow me to try a brush out without offering me a membership. I can’t seem to get it to stop. Yet, a lot of these comments are people saying they love it and won’t mind spending the membership. I don’t mind memberships, especially for a good app. But I definitely don’t want to spend money on an app that I can’t even figure out how to draw on. I’ll keep the app for a few weeks and hope the membership offers stop so I can actually give it a shot, but if I can’t try it out without paying for a year’s membership, I’m out. ☹️.Version: 1.2.12

Great App - Missing Some Key Selling FeaturesThe concept of this app is fantastic. I’ve always been a fan of Moleskin notebooks, and was very excited to see that they had made an app. I love the customisation options, like the ability to change the paper tone and lines or grids, and the sizes of such. However, I do wish it was more of a scale customisation rather than two selections. I love the range of colors, but do wish there was a colour picker. My biggest issue with the app, however, is the shakiness of the lines. I wish there was an option to adjust the smoothness of lines, because this makes my handwriting look tragic. There are several other things I wish would be added or improved, but the biggest one is the line smoothness, or lack thereof. Perhaps if a stroke stabiliser were added, I would consider paying for the membership..Version: 1.1.4

You literally can't use without a subscriptionYou download it and fire it up and you can't draw or write anything it's read only until you subscribe. There's a trial but if you agree to it you agree that it will auto bill you at the end of it unless you cancel. This is a predatory monetisation method and I despise them for using it..Version: 1.2.10

Not simpleFor something that claims to be so simple I didn’t really get it (maybe I’m stupid). Also, $2.79 monthly subscription? Seriously?? I would, maybe, pay a one time $1.99 to purchase this if it was simpler to use. But definitely not subscription, that’s ridiculous..Version: 2.0.1

Why bother making it freeI can't do anything. ANYTHING. Because it constantly tells me that it’s a moleskin product. okay. i don’t care. i wanna draw and take notes but i can’t because the pop up for the free trial doesn’t take no as an answer. lame..Version: 2.9.5

Paid appHi there, I suggest to app developer to stop allowing people to download it for free and then asking for money right after that. It is not cool to waste people’s time. I wouldn’t have spent my 15 minutes for downloading and realizing that you can use it only if you pay 31$/year..Version: 2.10.0

DishonestAs lots of people already said: it’s not honest to say this is a free app. I can’t even make one mark with one of the tools without having a subscription box pop up asking for money. I would rather pay upfront and own the app rather than rent it through subscription. I don’t want to have to sign up to have a free trial now either. The app is getting deleted straight away and I haven’t even tried one of the pens yet. Well done developers, what a let down..Version: 1.2.12

Free version is pointlessThe free version only allows one document. This app is pointless without a subscription. I would argue that a single document does not give anybody the opportunity to see if the app is really worth getting, and does not allow a person to really see if it is worth the investment. It is more of an instant turn off. Which is why I have instantly uninstalled it, because it feels like it isn’t worth it..Version: 2.7.6

Not the bestI just downloaded it and I can’t do anything without buying a membership, even though I should have a 14 day free trial.Version: 1.1.4

Pretentious for what it is.Been checking out a few different apps for note taking and doodling - this one just sort of popped up, so I figured sure - I’ll give it a try it’s free why not. As soon as I open the app it shoves its accolades in my face then asks for money. Real apps let the actual software do the talking for them, be it a trial version or otherwise. I have no interest in paying for a subscription for software I’ve never heard of that just shoves awards I don’t care about in my face..Version: 2.1.5

AbysmalDo not trust this app with your work and ideas. A phantom sync wiped out everything on my account, all of which was unrecoverable. Further, the support team sent a diagnostic link that didn’t work, then failed to respond when I alerted them to this. All in all, a depressing experience. The app may look beautiful, but it is not reliable. The functionality and support are not what they need to be for an app you have to be able to trust..Version: 1.2.10

I can’t even do anythingI downloaded this before and deleted it, but I came back to find an app where I can draw. Apparently, I’m unable to do anything. I saw a picture I drew before and tried to erase it, but no, I can’t because like every single interaction I have activates the subscription, making me unable to do literally anything. I came to see the reviews that others were facing the same problem. What’s the point in making an app free with you’re just gonna shove a free trial and subscription in my face and restricting me from even using the app at all? It’s just plain annoying. I’m sure this might a great app and will be considered as a good app to draw with, but yeah. TL;DR: Unable to do literally anything because the app continuously shoves a free trial and subscription in your face, making it unable for you to even erase or draw almost every single interaction you make; making me state that it’s useless making an app free, despite shoving a paywall on the screen with no way to exit..Version: 1.2.12

So, To Be Clear: NOTHING... Is what you can do with this app, until you pay. I feel like I'm watching the scene from Goodfellas, when Henry is doing a voiceover about Paulie going in partners on the restaurant with the owner guy, after Joe Pesci embarrasses him in his own establishment. He's like: "But now the guy has got to come up with Paulie's money every week, no matter what. Business bad? **** you, pay me. You had a fire? **** you, pay me. The place got hit by lightning? **** you, pay me.". That's EXACTLY what it's like with this app. "Wanna make a single mark on the sketch pad surface? **** you, pay me. You just want to check out... ONE SINGLE PEN OR PENCIL and see how it looks? **** you, pay me. Did you download this app and open it because you need a seriously good app and you heard this was it, but have been burnt by false products before? **** you, pay me." TOO AGGRESSIVE. Next review I write for you... **** you, pay me..Version: 1.3.0

Pointless without SubscriptionThis app is utterly useless without signing up for a subscription. You can see a page but not edit or add anything too it. You might as well download a screenshot of it as it offers the same level of functionality. Saw on App Store editorial and thought I’d have a look (even though I have ProCreate and Sketches Pro). Downloaded, opened, felt compelled to write a review and then deleted. I’m not keen on signing up to trial subscriptions as you need to be meticulous in opting out of the subscription otherwise you get charged. By all means offer a reduced app with in app purchases/subscriptions to add functionality but don’t make shell apps that do absolutely nothing without a subscription!.Version: 2.1.2

What the hellThis app looks beautiful and well designed. Paid for a subscription - started first illustration using the pen , and undo then tapping pencil on the image makes it disappear ?! Please fix this awful bug it’s unusable..Version: 2.1.2

I don’t usually write reviews BUT...Poor customer experience to advertise as free that when it comes to trying it out for the first time, I can’t even draw 1 line to only be told to subscribe to pay.. app deleted! This is a subscription model and not a pay and keep forever app. p.s You need to rethink your business plan to capture new users..Version: 2.2.1

I have no idea if it has to payWhen I looked at the app it had great reviews so I go it, i opened it up and it was going well but then I saw a screen that said “start your free trial” but I thought it was free so I deleted it.Version: 1.2.3

Deleted right awaySubscription or trash? Don’t use this.Version: 2.9.5

Subscription scamDon’t get it cuz the sub is money after first week.Version: 1.0.7

Can’t even trial itThis app is behind a paywall, I couldn’t even test it out without agreeing to a trial period. Deleted..Version: 1.2.1

Didn’t let me tryDeleted this app within minutes as it was clear it wasn’t going to let me experience its features without some pre-agreed subscription. It’s a drawing app. It doesn’t need a subscription. Sadly, couldn’t even get a scribble out of it. Developers, like previous comments, your app looks interesting but if we can’t try it out, we’re not going to buy. Hence one star for unknown..Version: 1.2.7

What’s happened to the writing experience! The addition of layers has ruined the close-up writing experience, please, please fix this asap. I never wanted layers anyway!.Version: 3.0.3

What’s the difference between this notes application and others?Ive been using this for the past couple of days and realized that it’s simply just a notes app with a pretty format. It’s really no better than other apps let alone surpasses other note apps in regards to their target audience. It seems like its geared towards artists/students, but it’s kind of an inconvenience for both because an artist isn’t going to use a completely different app for planning ideas with less than half the tools they need, neither is a student with what notability/goodnotes offers, so I’m not understanding why you need to pay a subscription to use it instead of buying it once. It is pretty though, I will give you guys that..Version: 2.9.2

Writing looks pixelatedCompared to other apps, writing does not feel smooth at all with the Apple Pencil and my writing even comes out with jagged edges and pixelation. Not a great writing experience.Version: 1.1.3

RipoffNuff said.Version: 1.1.3

Next to uselessPretty much awful, can’t use unless pay for the subscription..Version: 2.1.1

StorageNo iCloud storage then not going to be paying for the app. Why try to make customers give you data they don’t want to give? Why not vector? Why not at the very least choice over where to store the what we produce? Sorry wanted to like this and use but disappointed. I do think the pricing is fair and would happily pay that if the storage was sorted and the app was going to be developed taking into account customers requests..Version: 1.0.8

Subscription required nowThis did used to be free to use and I liked it on the odd occasion that I needed it. When I came to use it again recently I found that nothing will work without me creating a subscription. So yeah, thanks for removing features that you previously provided. Uninstalled..Version: 1.2.12

OkSo I like the idea of the app, But when I got it, It was literally forcing me to buy the subscription. And only being under the age of 13, I have no idea why I have to buy the subscription in order to use the app for free. Though I’m not trying to be a Karen here but I would like to let you know that this situation happened. I hopefully think that you guys can fix this problem for future downloaders. Thank you for your time. But I never bought the subscription just to let you know because I wanna use the app and not have to pay but other than that I love this app but that was the only thing that makes me not enjoy it as much as I thought it was. I hope you’re having a great day/night. ❤️🍄.Version: 2.9.3

Non starterI downloaded the app but was prevented from even trying it by an irritating pop up asking me to sign up for the trial. The most self defeating attempt to get buyers preventing even basic trials looking at how it functions I deleted it and will stick with Procreate instead..Version: 2.0.1

A real shame Moleskine sold out with this one!!!!It’s a notebook like every other but instead of every other who make money from new clients this one feels it is so short term based they need to add a subsection to make existing users pay. I am amazed they think it warrants a paid subscription.Version: 1.1.3

Love the way this works , simple and immediate but.....My big but in this regard is the monthly/Annual subscription. I’m always going to be a pay once kinda guy and can’t treat an app like another utility bill. Sad but I’d rather just use a physical notebook than pay a sub for a digital one..Version: 1.0.11

Not as great as Timepage and ActionsI’m a user of Timepage and Actions daily, yet this new app from Moleskine doesn’t live up to the detail that I expect from the company. Their other apps are tuned and polished to perfection, this app not so much. It feels limited and small, with a lack of features. I am looking forward to returning to this app soon though, as Moleskine always deliver amazing, polished apps. It’s just a matter of time until this one is up there with the others. Right now it doesn’t have the polish and feature set of other professional apps such as Concepts. Timepage and Actions are absolutely amazing. Just a shame this one isn’t yet..Version: 1.0.1

Stop the money grabbing pleaseI downloaded this to try it, can’t do a thing without choosing a subscription and I KNOW there’s a free trial as part of that, but why can’t we get that before adding yet another subscription? Sure, we can cancel it before it charges but for people with a number of subscription apps, it’s easy to lose track and then get charged. I love the Moleskine brand, I wish I could test it but I’m fed up with everyone opting for this money grab immediately. My solo protest is I won’t pay for anything that I can’t try before committing to a subscription or I can’t just buy the app. Apps are fast becoming a money pit!.Version: 1.2.11

Keeps hanging and a large portion of what I wrote disappearedI used the app for free for the first 15 days but as soon as I paid for continued usage and created an account, it started hanging. On top of that I lost more than half of my work!!! I am writing a novel and had written quite a lot. It’s scary to lose so much of my work! If this is how the app functions then no matter how good the technology is in terms of various pens and brushes, I don’t want to use it because I loathe to lose hours of hard work. I wish there was an option to give zero stars as it’s not even worth one!.Version: 1.1.3

Better Alternatives for whatever you’re doingRegardless of what you plan to use the app for, there are much better options available on the App Store that don’t even require the wack monthly/annual subscription fee. “In the absence of a paid upgrade model” is not a valid excuse to not offer a one-time payment option considering many other apps have been doing so for many many years. Membership models aren’t the only option, you’re just greedy..Version: 2.9.5

Versatile but with many inexcusable faultsMy pages will go missing with no explanation, and only reappear on my iPad when I click on them on my iPhone (the only other device I can open the documents on). Makes it frustrating when I don’t remember that those specific notes exist and now I’m missing info I needed to memorize for class. Sometimes pages will disappear when I’m working on it and I’ll have to start over. That’s my biggest issue with this app. I’ve had to rewrite notes more than a dozen times. Other issues include the fact that i cannot export cleanly - you can only share notes if the other person pays for the app. Otherwise I have to screenshot notes and send 50 pages of screenshots. I’d also love if this app was compatible with laptops so I could open notes there. There is also no recently deleted folder so if you accidentally delete a document, it’s gone forever. I’m only still using this app because it seems to be the most versatile in terms of note taking and drawing as well as the limitless options for pen color/thickness etc. Went back and forth with their support team for over a month but they couldn’t do anything about it..Version: 2.9.5

Can’t even try writing without a membershipDon’t let me install your “free” app, show me all the writing tools, let me pick one and then right as I try to write on the page, bring up a pop up to buy a membership. I might have paid for a membership, I might have even loved this app, but with such underhanded and grubby tactics stopping me even trying the app, it’s immediately going on the bin. Garbage. Don’t bother..Version: 1.2.11

Used to be fine but lines lag and skipCan’t use this anymore, whenever I draw it stutters and leaves a gap.Version: 2.1.5

What’s the point?Seriously, what’s the point? Concepts allows for unlimited paper screen, Procreate and sketchbook pro are standards. The notes app is similar to this, in that you use it to take notes, but with out "unlimited" paper. However, the tools within it are thoroughly useless for artists of any kind, as sketchbook pro is at least free, but offers FAR more than this app. The notes app is free and is far more responsive with the Apple Pencil than this lag fest is. It really holds no market, and is stuck in no mans land. The only people I can see who would love this app are die hard moleskine fans. No real artist will use this app for any reason, no writer will use this app... I’d just skip over this app, it serves no real purpose. Sorry molskine, stick to making decent paper, the developer let you down on this one..Version: 1.0.9

Subscription requiredWould have been nice if the ad made it clear you need a subscription to use the app. Had a look and deleted it immediately as it is too easy to have a free trial and miss the cut off by a day and then be charged for a years subscription because you didn’t use it much. A demo or restricted version to try would have been better. Whether it’s good or not I don’t know as I only got to look at pens and found the interface for choosing colours to be quite difficult to use..Version: 1.2.10

Looks really nice but…You can’t even do the free trial without signing up to a subscription. It’s pointless to even download this app. The App Store description makes it sound like you will be able to try it for free but this is actually only if you can be bothered to subsequently cancel the subscription you purchased after one week. Unless there’s a hidden option somewhere to skip the sign up, but if there is you have to go round in circles looking for it. Pity because I’m a fan of Moleskin notebooks..Version: 2.5.3

HORRIBLEI CANT EVEN DO ANYTHING CAUSE THE SECOND I TRY TO DRAW IT ASKS ME TO BUY THE MEMBERSHIP.Version: 1.1.4

Drop the subscription modelSell me the app, I’d gladly pay once. You’re not providing a service, it’s greed. I can use my iCloud storage if I need it and software has been updated without prying money from users and holding their notes hostage requiring they pay to use until the end of time. Don’t waste your time learning and using this app unless you budget for the sub fee until you die..Version: 1.1.1

MMMmmmmm NOPE, a swing and a miss.I got excited about this as i do enjoy a number of moleskine products as an artist, currently enjoying Smart Notebook and figuring out how it works. But this is a BIG cash grab, a 7 day trial then you pay for a subscription, i got Adobe photo shop suit I don’t need another subscription. What i do need is a Free app with a free basic pack of pens that has once off payments for Pen Packages. I need: Manga/comic pens and page outlines pack Gel pens pack Calligraphy pack Word/ speech bubble pack +the different types of paper on offer. This is a few ideas to get you guys into the market cause there are free/once off apps and i cant see what you have to offer without logging in and starting a trial. I’d pay $5 to $10 for a Pen Package so if 100 people bought a $10 package it just makes sense in the long run. Then as an added bonus that you could have as a cheap subscription is creat a hub for artists to share what they created similar to Deviant art and instagram. The subscription would chase away some trolls and you would make it a safe place, now that’s what i wanna see as a subscription not this product though. Ill keep an eye on this product as i really wanna use it one day..Version: 1.0.7

Wants moneyAll moleskins apps are great, but they just want money. You can barely do anything in moleskine apps unless you get premium… so annoying *Reply to Developer response* We are all going through hard times right now, and most people cannot afford these kind of things. I think great apps like these should be for free if you really want to help. Or at least just make people pay for them at first, instead of cheating them with in app purchases..Version: 2.6.1

Crashing on startupWas looking forward to trying this app as it looked like it would provide exactly what I was looking for. However, on starting the app it appears to crash and close within a few seconds meaning I haven’t managed to actually use it during the week free trial..Version: 1.2.10

SubscriptionI liked it but since I don’t like renting software I deleted it. If other good apps like procreate can make profit with one-time purchase so can you..Version: 1.1.3

Very disappointedI tried the free trial with full intention of subscribing for the year but when I tried to draw or sketch all I could do it make lines and circles or a box, those seam to be the only option to me. When I looked for the help section I found everything but how to free hand draw like the advertisement said I saws able to do. I worked with the interface for nearly 2 hours and never could do what I wanted to do and I couldn’t ask for help from any representative of the app there was now way to do that,I pushed every and any button switch sentence that I could find and nothing and no one to answer my questions. I terminated the session and canceled the subscription deleted the app with haste. I was completely frustrated and angry so the only way I can tell someone from the app was to do this. Maybe it’s just me but even the most basic app has the capability to get help from someone but not this one, tried it don’t like it would not recommend this to ANYONE! Sincerely #&$%@ off.Version: 2.2.1

Shame to force subscriptionWe love Moleskine.. he have supported the app since launch, however the now forced subscription is just surreal.. for fun , kids , it’s over kill. For professionals better with Procreate etc.. and photoshop etc.. when it gets to iPad Pro. Every app wants to charge a monthly fee.. here it just seems like it will be a long term cost without much benefit. Don’t mind paying for apps, don’t like being forced to subscribe. Especially when the data can easily be handled by iCloud or Dropbox etc...Version: 1.0.9

DeletedFoolishly, I downloaded and activated this app before realizing that this drawing, note-taking app has a monthly subscription. As soon as I realized, I deleted it. As I have other very capable, non-subscription drawing apps, I don’t need this one. I do not expect to be billed any fee after the supposed trial period is over..Version: 1.1.3

Rip offsAbsolute rip off I actually love moleskin and would of bought a paid app but am not forking out money monthly Should have made it a one time purchase.Version: 1.0.12

UnstableTimewaster. Works ok for a while then crashes. Delete. Download again. And again. Just to get my notes back. Love the paper notebooks but Moleskine digital is not ready for market. I’ll stay with paper..Version: 1.2.11

Not exemplary in a saturated market, and a poor payment model to bootCompared to the slew of other note taking and drawing apps, Flow is at best aesthetically pleasing compared to others, and that's about it. Lacking features that many completely free apps have. But, what I consider worst is the reprehensible subscription model. What features could possibly be brought on a monthly basis to justify that model? Especially when every other app that does what Flow wants to be but better is a one time price or free. For some reason the brand name alone got me to try it, and instead I was actively irritated by predatory pricing and, quite frankly, awful developer responses to reviews. The dev response shouldn't argue with poor reviews just voicing their oppinions. They ignore the pricing complaint and claim no features is actually good because reasons. This has put such a bad taste in my mouth I am certainly never coming back to this app..Version: 1.0.8

Flow (iek)Flow is an ok app. Although it has a cost which is far too expensive, i have been enjoying using this app in the free trial. It does not have the best range of supplies but enough to suit my standard. With one of my drawings( my fave) the app glitched and had big strokey lines and the word ‘flow’ on top of my drawing. I have tried to fix it but nothing had worked. It’s ok this app. But not for artists who need a lot of supplies..Version: 1.0.12

Wasted my timeSo this app looked interesting, so I downloarded it to try it out. I spent a fair amount of time trying to actuall start trying the pencils or pens etc., and all I could get was a pop up sales message about the subscription. Ten minutes spent with this thing and I couldn’t get a single mark on paper. Click a penil, get the pop-up. Click a pen, get the pop-up. Touch the screen, get the pop-up. I’m a professional, and happily spend a fair amount of money on apps. But, if an developer thinks it’s okay to waste my time, having me download their app only to get a sales message and a huge barrier to entry, I don’t trust that they’ll provide reliable service..Version: 2.0

Subscribe your life awayAnother annoying subscription app. I aint going to pay a subscription fee just to use an app. Make it a paid app instead. Deleted..Version: 2.1.5

Very unreliableThe app aesthetic and ease of use is good, however randomly it will corrupt my documents leaving me unable to access them and unrecoverable. It does this very often, and is incredibly unreliable especially if you have any important work..Version: 1.2.12

Would be great if it worked.I love this app. The ui is beautiful, the paper options are so helpful, the single long paper is a great idea. I love using this app to sketch out my ideas for future projects. But way too regularly the app completely stops functioning. Crashing every time you open it, not loading anything, not letting you draw. I have to hold my breath a few times a week scared that it’s not going to load all of my sketches and they’ll be gone forever. I bought the moleskine package just for this app but it’s quickly not feeling worth it. I’m trying to sketch out a project right now and it’s refused to open for about half an hour, and I even restarted my iPad and now it’s just not loading anything. My only request for this app is that you make it actually function..Version: 1.2.10

Great, with one frustrating issueI don’t have much to add for why this is a really great app. The ui is great, the sounds are a nice touch, everything is really smooth and intuitive. It’s exactly the kind of infinite canvas that’s perfect for sketching and iterating and not worrying about page confines or distractions. I’ve been looking for something like it forever. But the selection/knife tool does not to work. It picks up eraser markings and resurrects things I’ve already erased. It removes marks around wherever i put the selection. It picks up lines way outside what I was trying to select. It would be nice if I could figure how to resize selections, but that’s honestly secondary to wishing the knife tool worked how I would expect it to..Version: 1.1.4

Doesn’t workI have the moleskin bundle since I use timepage and actions, but this app is either frustrating to use or doesn’t work. I can’t get the tools back and I can’t draw using my pencil. Back to notability for me.Version: 2.7.6

Not worth the priceThe price is much higher and the product isn’t as good as Adobe drawing apps (Fresco) or Procreate..Version: 1.3.0

.It looks great!! But why make the app free when we just have to pay as soon as we download anyway. May aswell just make it a couple bucks.Version: 1.2.2

OkAs a constant jotter I thought I’d love this, but I didn’t. I don’t have an issue with the subscription payment model and firmly believe that developers should be paid for their work in a sustainable way (just as we expect apps to work in a sustainable way). What I didn’t love was the horizontal scrolling. It didn’t necessarily give it a more notebook feel for me. Having the option to scroll vertically would have been great. (I love Bear and thought this might be my handwritten equivalent). I also didn’t expect the learning curve with the tools and didn’t like the design of them. Can a pencil not simply look like a pencil? They just seemed overly complicated for such a simple concept. Maybe I’ll come back to it in the future after it develops further..Version: 1.0.8

Why I gave it a 1 star rating?I gave it a 1 star rating bc when you download the app and go inside the app there will be 1 page for drawing once you are done 2 pages you have to try the full version of this game which I hate so get better ❤️‍🩹 who ever made this app you suck we only get 2 pages you suck app.Version: 2.7.2

No single price GoodbyeEnough with subscriptions for Apps You are Deleted. Lifetime or Single price for Apps is good. Reply to devs. : If other Apps developers can offer lifetime prices. I am sure you can too. At the end of the day the code you have written is there, you can sell that very code to a thousand users or a million, its up to you. But with your current decision my money stays in my pocket and probably will go to the competing app. Bye..Version: 2.10.0

Not freeA 14 day trial is not a free ap. Misrepresentation at its finest..Version: 1.0.12

Do NOT recommendJust buy procreate I was hesitant at first but it’s so much better. This app is very limited..Version: 1.1.3
