I don’t know what his plan was, but he needed me to download a BITCOIN app to confirm my identity… I think he wanted me to just sign up for the app and watch everything I type to steal all my information. Why do I have to go through all the loops, when all I need is just to activate my Youtube on my new TV? It even went to an Uber link that says I have a $200 gift which I am not at all interested. After I hang up I tried signing in again not on my phone anymore but directly on my TV and all it asked was to type my Google acct email, that’s all and I’m signed in, no $1 fee no Uber gift nonsense. ✓ Scammers are using this app 🤬I got a call from a person who claimed to be from my mobile service provider. They said my IP address and home network has switched from a “private” to “public” mode and that my IP address was being used by strangers to monitor my internet activity. They said they had detected the unusual traffic and were calling me to resolve it. The reason I didn’t immediately think it was a scam was because a couple of times recently while Googling, I had a message come up “Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network" and had to complete a reCAPTCHA before I could progress. They got me to Google “what is my IP” to show my IP was public and “my IP country” to show my IP was located in another country. They then told me to download this app from the App Store and that they’d provide me a log in to use the app. They said I’d be able to fix the problem from there. In the App Store, I saw the app info which said it gives a “trusted technician” remote access into your device, and at this point I realised it was a scam and terminated the call. ✓ DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP!!!This app should be illegal I had a phone call from someone who claimed they were from com bank they told me that $500 had been withdrawn from my bank account from over seas and there was “suspicious activities” in my account. I was then told they were going to help me get my money back and refund me the money, they made me down load this app which allows them to see everything on ur phone and what ur doing. It screen shares with them. When I asked him “can you see my phone screen” he said no. However 20 minutes later he read my exact bank account details out to me my client number, my account number, everything. I then realised this was a scam. The next day he rang me again and told me that he was gonna refund me the money that morning I had deleted the app because I felt very unsafe having it on my phone. He then proceeded to tell me he knew I had deleted the app and I had been on Snapchat talking to this person at this time. When I wouldn’t give him any information he would get very aggressive. I have been down to my local police station to report this and the app because who knows what other information they have of me. Seeming they knew I had been using Snapchat and every detail I felt very uncomfortable almost in danger. ✓ Used for scamming - IndiaZoho Assist was used to access my account and perpetrate theft. Can you tell me how in depth they can access information on my devices or are they limited to the open screen? Scammers were able to move funds from credit card accounts to checking account. I feel stupid in attempting to pay a false invoice. The invoice was from Norton Lifelock and I had just been in contact with Norton the week before, so it was a relative timing for an invoice and the false invoice had reasonable line item pricing.
