TransLoc for Negative User Reviews

Great WHEN it works!!!Every time Transloc updates their app SCT no longer works! EVERY TIME!!! And every time I write them they keep blaming SCT saying that’s it’s them and not Transloc. REALLY?!? Transloc, wake up! I really used to enjoy Transloc because I take many buses every day and I need to know when they are coming or if I just missed one and need to wait an additional hour at the bus stop (sometimes in 15 degree weather!) I am sick of this game that Transloc continues to play! The app works perfectly and as soon as I install the latest update “BOOM” Transloc stops tracking SCT! Anyone with some common sense can figure out that it’s NOT SCT, but Transloc!.Version: 4.27.0

Why?? New app is terribleThe old Rider app was perfectly fine. I have so many issues with this app that was forced upon us. First, UI functionality is awful, eith the old rider app, selecting the stops would show what routes service it and the time left before the next would arrive. The new app does not do that as one has to tap into the stop and bring up individual routes, adding extra steps and not even allowing for a comparison of the routes. Next, the routes colors do not intermingle like the Rider app used to, only showing a single color even if multiple routes service it. Additionally, the shuttle icons are big and bulky, and even the timing is inaccurate. Finally, the routes don’t even load up half of the time, making me miss my shuttle. If I had to give serious feedback, just bring back the old app, it was a better one across the board..Version: 4.13.0

Rating is not accurateThe new app is terrible. You cannot see all stops or even when busses will be where. It is not intuitive at all and very confusing to navigate. I wish there was an alternative because this is almost impossible to use. The 5 star comments on this do not look legitimate and I have seen several advertising for things not related to the app. The makes me think that the app has used bots to boost its stars..Version: 4.13.0

Tallahassee should be ashamed to switch to thisThis is honestly the worst transportation app I have ever had the displeasure of using. It consistently lags, buses will not appear on their routes for minutes at a time, and the animation of them moving moves so slow that the buses are far from the destination stated on the app. I have been late so many times because of the dysfunction of it and I cannot believe the city of Tallahassee still burdens it’s residents with having to use it.Version: 5.1.0

Horrible UIYou click on bus stops and instead of showing you when busses will come to a stop it just shows every bus servicing a stop, if you want to know when each one is arriving you have to click and load them separately and then click back and then click and load another and then click back etc it’s horrible fix it please..Version: 4.14.0

Unable to see any routesThis thing is useless. All it shows is the on demand service for my school, I can’t see any routes, times when busses will be arriving, location of the busses, etc. I literally moved the map to the area on my campus where all the busses meet, and it said there were no routes to be found there. Funnily enough, I’ve been using the old app with the “Click to download the new app screen”, because I can at least see if a bus is coming or not on that one. You heard me right, the old app that you literally can’t interact with, is more useful than this garbage..Version: 4.6.0

At Times Slow and/or UnresponsiveWhen the app works, it works great: the ETAs are pretty accurate and I can see the buses’ location on the map. Trouble is, that happens only about 50% of the time. Idk when it started exactly but the app has been showing no routes on startup and I would have to quit and reopen it to see where the nearby buses are..Version: 4.28.0

Does everyone at CDTA hate their life?!I use the app for a flex (ride share program) but no matter how early I schedule a ride, there’s never anyone available for pickup or I’m sitting around waiting 30+ mins for one. It seems like there’s no one driving these things, and the ones I do get never know where I’m going or where to pick me up. How are you driving around Albany but don’t know where Walmart is?? Good idea, but terrible execution..Version: 5.3.9

TERRIBLEYour app does NOT work one bit. There is constantly flex vans that park in a parking lot half a mile from my place all the time waiting for people that need rides and it still tells me no rides nearby. I’ve opened this app about 8 times in different areas and it’s never once told me a ride is available always just tells me no rides nearby. This app is literally losing you business..Version: 5.1.1

UnderwhelmedI ride the CUE bus in Northern Virginia and since TransLoc got the contract for bus service the live data is visible about 20% of the time. I ride 5 days a week twice a day. That means 8 of my 10 rides when look at the app only has the scheduled time, not live data. I find the app pretty useless since it doesn’t work most of the time. I wish they city of Fairfax transportation would dump this app or get it together..Version: 5.3.2

Invasive location trackingWant to check a bus schedule? Want to see where buses are? Well you better be willing to let the app track you. It makes sense that it may want your location to show you where you are on the map. But this is the first and only bus app I’ve seen that REQUIRES you to share your location to see a bus schedule. Even if you give location once to set up what bus systems are near you, it will still REQUIRE you to share your location anytime you want to check the schedules/locations. Invasive location tracking for no good reason..Version: 5.2.0

Please fix this appI guess it’s somewhat accurate in terms of bus arrival, but even saying that would genuinely be giving it too much credit. Constantly behind or so far ahead so it seems as though the bus is either late or you are. Even incorporating a hard copy of the bus schedule, it’s still nearly impossible to know if you’re actually gonna get where you need to know on time. I’ve resorted to just leaving for everything an hour and a half early so Im not ridiculously behind schedule..Version: 4.22.1

Current locations of buses need to be shown immediatelyThe problem occurs when I open the app again. The current locations of buses are not shown immediately. The buses still remain at the previous locations where they were when I opened the app before, then they slowly move to the current locations for a few seconds. This is annoying when I need to check where they are immediately. I need to wait for a few seconds or need to close the app completely and open it again..Version: 5.3.2

Terrible update to old Rider appThis new update is absolutely horrible. The routes only show up when buses are running and even then it doesn’t seem that all the routes in service are displayed. I cannot look up different routes to plan trips in advance or see routes without turning on my location services. The old app was much more functional and user friendly. I am greatly disappointed and frustrated with this updated version..Version: 4.13.0

Disappointing at the leastI don’t typically write reviews, but I’m making an exception for this one because it’s a really horrible. You can only plan a trip by what time you’d like to leave, not when you need to arrive, making it very difficult to figure out what time I *need* to leave. I can’t tell it to always display certain routes, the estimated arrival time jumps around, and there doesn’t seem to be any user-accessible schedule. If the purpose of this app is to boost rideshare use by making public transit frustratingly difficult, it has succeeded.Version: 4.21.1

Few buses on mapApp’s only real use was to see, real-time, where the buses are so you could gauge the wait. This is no longer a useful feature because very few buses are listed on the live map. So you find yourself waiting for buses that have already gone and awaiting buses that may never show. I’m not sure why anyone would use this over google maps besides for the live feature that doesn’t work. So no reason at all to use this..Version: 4.22.1

Needs to be fixedI have routes very close to where I live and it never shows any of them. The other day I was standing directly under the bus stop sign, the app indicated “no active routes,” and the bus showed up about a minute later. I know the approximate time these buses are supposed to show, because I use an old fashioned schedule, but it would be nice to pinpoint exactly where the bus is. Please fix..Version: 5.0.0

Inaccurate and not reliableFrustrating to use. It’s possible it’s more the fault of the shuttles themselves, but I’ve found this app to be unreliable and often inaccurate. The scheduled time of arrival and the “minutes away” often do not match, which is confusing. I also cannot get the Notifications feature to work. I’ve ended up running late or missing my bus entirely many times..Version: 5.2.0

I preferred the old appI just want to see where the busses currently are on the map. A lot of routes overlap and it used to be easy to browse and see which one I want to take and whether I can hop off one to drop something off and then hop back on a different bus but it wants me to commit to a time and starting and finishing destination (which I can already do through google) and this lack of flexibility is very frustrating and makes me unable to take advantage of the Emory bus routes like I used to. If there is a way to revert to the old app I would strongly prefer it..Version: 4.13.0

This is the only time I actually did not like TransLocThis is the first time they got me waiting for a hour I’m pretty annoyed because the app first said they would be here in 20 then 30 then a whole hour so I don’t know how long I’m supposed to be waiting for they should fix that and not change it so much but other than that it’s good.Version: 5.3.9

5 Star Review Awards!Any reasonable person can see that most if not all genuine reviews this app has received give it the worst possible rating. Yet the developers clearly paid a little for &/or spent some time concocting the sprinkling of absurd 5 star reviews, and also probably lucked into a few written by folks who truly don’t know any better, or maybe wanted to be polite. I felt that these obviously phony, sadly ignorant, & either way highly entertaining bits of nonsense deserved some recognition. So it is my great pleasure to announce the First Ever Amusingly Ridiculous Review Content Awards! In 3rd place, the definitely elderly gentleman who signed the review with his full name. Next, in 2nd place- This absolutely real person is a real student at a totally not made up school. He says the app is a huge help getting around campus, because he doesn’t have a car. I guess that entirely nonfictional location is one place it actually works... So give it up for the Runner Up: “Grad Student” at “North East University!” And finally, the Grand Prize Winner, by unanimous decree of the judge. This was the clear champion, the review that perfectly expresses the spirit of this coveted award. The author is a genius, beyond all doubt, as well as the Village Oaf somewhere in Appalachia. The words say it all: “see bus, no more afraid”.Version: 4.21.1

Functionality could be improvedRider was better last year, the on this one looks pretty and that's probably the only improvement. Can no longer see arrows on the route for which way it goes. Can no longer look at all arrival times for a single stop anymore, or when a single bus will be at specific locations. Overall less convenient to use..Version: 4.13.0

They’re always moody (too late or too early)Today my bus was 2 hours late and when it got here they gave us 3 minutes to get out before they left us. Other days when I’m at school, they come earlier than when I schedule and get mad at me because I can’t leave the school building until it’s time to leave (which is the time a schedule). Sometimes they would even leave me at the school with no way home. Other times they come an hour or two later. I’ve never gotten a bus on time, but I don’t mind it being a few minutes of. As a student I felt like I had a little control over how I get to and from school..Version: 4.26.0

Very frustrating!I live in an area with many routes/agencies using this app. I only ever take one bus, so I have all of the other agencies hidden in my settings. The problem is that multiple other bus routes, including from the hidden agencies, always show up on my map whenever I go back to it. Hiding the routes themselves on the map also does not seem to stick for more than a few minutes. Please fix this. It’s massively frustrating..Version: 4.14.0

Inconsistent TimesWhenever I have to rely on this app it's been the case that every scheduled arrival time is off by anywhere between 15-30 minutes. I'll check the original arrival time, wait until a couple of minutes have passed, and then see that the bus is now set to arrive 25 minutes later. I see this app has plenty of good reviews, but where I'm at you have better luck guessing when the bus will arrive..Version: 4.16.2

Old app betterSorry but the the last comment was correct. This version is less user friendly and understandable. I’m a IT network/systems engineer. It takes me extra time to figure out where the bus is at a given time, it used to be simple, and also when I need to get off the bus to catch another, it has caused me a few late appointments. Please do something. But thanks so much for the time and effort you all put into the app. EP.Version: 4.22.1

Now just poor - disappearing and reappearing bus routes.Routes show up sometimes, but more often than not this app says no route is available at a location which is served by 5 different busses. Another major flaw - even with great WiFi and cellular reception, the user location feature places the user 3 towns over from where they actually are. Another flaw - cannot touch a point to drop a favorite location pin - doesn’t exist. And you can’t manually choose a route to look at, if the app doesn’t “find” it, it’s as if it doesn’t exist. Not conducive to knowing where your bus is. And of course, no landscape mode for iPadOS. Who is responsible for this broken, poorly conceived “upgrade”? Needs a MAJOR improvement..Version: 4.13.0

Looks like my city dropped itI’ve tried to leave more constructive reviews but this app hasn’t worked at all in my city for a week now. Any time I’ve called to ask, nobody knows when it will be fixed. I know part of this is on my local bus service but with how poor my experience has been with this app for the year I’ve been using it, I have no doubt it’s primarily a TransLoc issue. This is the worst app I have ever used. UPDATE: All of my city’s routes have been removed from the app. If this means we’re moving on, good riddance. I hope I never have to use this joke of an app again..Version: 5.3.5

Terrible and dangerousOne of the worst apps I’ve ever had to use, majority of the bus routes disappear and fail to update after 5pm, and I have shifts until 6pm. So I am left scrambling and waiting, not knowing if I’m going to have transportation to get home because none of the bus routes are showing up and the times that the buses themselves show up are unreliable as it is. Having to sit in the dark and the cold not knowing if a bus will ever show up is awful and wouldn’t be a problem if this app actually worked correctly. Or if Rider were to be used once more..Version: 4.13.0

Routes aren’t showing for my local public transitIt would be wonderful if my local public bus system had an app which told you when buses were coming on your route. They say that this app is the one, but it doesn’t do it. Only one of the many bus routes in Suffolk County is showing up in the app, and it isn’t anywhere near where I am. That makes this app totally useless for me, and probably most other users..Version: 4.21.1

Old app pleaseThe previous rider app my university used was much more intuitive. I liked the ability to quickly click on a bus to see which stops if would be going to and when. Now you have to calculate which bus is going to where by guessing. Once you select a route you also have to clear all your progress instead of pressing “back” to see all the routes again. The old app was much more UX friendly, but it’s forcing me to use the new. Please either make the old version available again or bring basic functions to the new app and I’ll change my review!.Version: 4.13.0

UselessThe TransLoc app was serving its most basic function and at least letting us track the bus so we could plan accordingly. However, the busses can no longer be seen on the app and we are able to see where this bus is so we can make it to the bus stop on time. Because of this, the app is basically useless and no longer has a reason to continue being downloaded on the phone and continue wasting space..Version: 4.23.1

New app is 100% trashTwo clicks to see arrival info, instead of one (fantastic) Visualization of routes as train station is cute but very glaring, garish, distracting, and honestly just hard to see (real improvement here) Random “helpful” popup notifs asking for response are not cute but really annoying Forcing people to use the new app is just dumb: if the new app was good people will be using it; go back to the old app please; I will even pay for the old app.Version: 4.13.0

Rider was betterThis app would be good if they fixed four things: 1) Allow people to search and save any bus route to permanently track them 2) when updating bus location, do not slowly move the icon across the map at 40 mph. Animations are fine, but it should update within 2 seconds (max). Rn, it takes a good 10. 3) fix disappearing buses. Internal tracking apps don’t have this problem, why does transloc 4) Allow us to see route schedules. When do they end? How about start? I don’t care if a bus is supposed to be nearby, I wanna know if it’ll run till I get where I need to go.Version: 4.22.1

The old app had more functionality — now I’m flying blind.I use several routes at different times and can’t figure out how to find the upcoming or tomorrow’s schedules. Tomorrow I need to ride earlier than I usually do.. how can I find the bus stop times for earlier buses? With the old app I could look at departures for a few different routes with little effort. How do I plan for the morning if I don’t have departure times? Since I don’t get up until I have to, besides getting up early to check the upcoming buses, I have no way to know when to be at the stop! If I could see a schedule, I could plan my wake up time based on the bus stop arrival. Different is not always better..Version: 4.7.0

Old app, Rider, is better. The previous app, Rider, is much better because you can view all the routes around you, even if a bus is currently not active on the route. This helps for scheduling trips in advance and knowing which buses to take. On this app, I can only see routes near me if a bus is currently active on that route, which isn’t helpful at all. I can’t find a way to simply view all the routes near me. Also, the layout is confusing, and many other helpful features that were on Rider are gone on Transloc..Version: 4.6.0

Please give us the old app backI really really valued the ability to pan multiple bus lines at a time even when I wasn’t standing literally at the stop. It was useful in planning my day, especially when transferring from train to bus. This version is so vastly inferior to rider as to be essentially useless. Please either revert to rider or let us add lines and see all the buses again. I’m sure this update is well-intentioned, but it totally misses the point of why anyone would use this app..Version: 4.22.0

Just noDoesn’t work half the time and the only really helpful thing about it is the location tracking, and again that’s only sometimes. Unfortunately this is the only app that my university’s transit system uses. They have another one completely for the on campus route that works pretty well but all the off campus routes are forced to try to plan around this bad app..Version: 4.28.0

OverallI didn’t have a problem with the app at first but I don’t know what happened after the update because now I can’t see any of the buses moving on the app. And they don’t show the times when the bus comes so I really don’t need the app anymore. I tried reinstalling it a few times and it gives me the same problem..Version: 4.23.1

Please return the old Rider appAs noted by many users, the new TransLoc app is great if you just want to know when the next public transit of any kind in your immediate area is coming. If you want to look at a route you AREN’T immediately standing on or figure out a SPECIFIC route, well, you’re out of luck. I used to be able to look AHEAD of where I EXACTLY was, but, like the Start button on Windows, wiser developers than I removed a beloved easy to use, powerful feature, then told us why we didn’t need it when we users said we missed the feature and didn’t like the interaction with the new feature, you removed one of your best features and will probably tell us why this one we don’t like to use is better and we’re dumb for wanting the simpler older tool back until you cave after way too much complaining. Please bring back the old map/route feature from Rider..Version: 4.21.1

Barely functionalThis app barely even works. You know you made some terrible development decisions when I am running the latest OS on an iPhone 12 and I still have to open and close the app 3-4 times before it even works. It also baffles me how bad any of the “features” are. For example, there is a notification system for alerting you when the bus is on its way and it doesn’t even give the notification. The app constantly shows incorrect times and locations of the busses to the point of sometimes opening the app and seeing busses go backwards down a freeway. This app feels like it’s held together with sticks and bubblegum. Avoid at all costs..Version: 5.3.4

The app keeps crashing!!!!First off, I will like to note that the update for this app is totally bogus. It removed the setting that can send notification for when the bus is approaching in a certain time of the users’ desire. The whole point of the app is for it to notify the user when the bus is approaching. Second off, the updated app is extremely unstable. What I mean by this is that it will crash all of a sudden. With luck, you may be able to return to the app. However, often times it does NOT. As of 7/12, the app kept crashing and it won’t let me in at all. My propose solution: bring back the old app or fix this new app that doesn’t work!.Version: 4.4.0

The worstThis app is a huge inconvenience. It always crashes for me when I’m trying to book a ride. It almost made me late for work. I even updated the app and I’m still having this problem. The first time it happens they fixed it in like 2 days. It’s happening again and it been over a week now and it is still crashing for me. I’m just so over this app smh..Version: 5.3.2
