✓ Made up words & Horrible Ad integrationThis is fun as far as crossword puzzles go. Even with the random abbreviated word thrown in every puzzle because the makers couldn’t figure out another 3 letter word that might fit. I overlooked that! With the recent Ad integration - I’m forced to watch 30 second Ads ( which is fine!) I used to watch them to earn coins. However, the new Ads (even after waiting for the Ad to end) does not allow to click out of the window. The x on the top right is misplaced so that the only option it allows is to scroll my iPhone menu down. I have to force close the App in order to generate a new Ad and so far I’ve gotten the same Ad that does not allow to click out of. I love crossword puzzles - and POP culture. ✓ Unwilling to fix tech issueIn early December, 2021, when the AWS servers went down, the game went offline. When it came back on, I had lost all progress on the Daily Pop Plus puzzles I completed for the year. I had completed every one up until that day, even spending money to open many puzzles that I had skipped through the year. When I asked for help, I was told that the problem must be on my end. I was instructed to delete and reinstall the app. That didn’t work, and when I asked for help again, I was told to do the same thing. It still didn’t work. There has to be a way to restore my progress on their end, but it hasn’t happened due to incompetence or indifference. Until a couple of weeks ago I never had issues loading the game and they even started letting players earn coins for the puzzles completed (I collected about 1000 the week this started from all the crosswords I’ve done all year). I’m assuming the way to fix this is to delete the app (successfully deleting all of my coins with it and the puzzle collection I paid for too) and download the game again. I ran the latest update because the app would crash when I tried to open it so I updated thinking that would fix the crash issue. The app opens now but I can’t open any puzzles on the calendar . When you have "Show Errors" ON, it would be helpful if the curser STAYED in the square that is red - where you are trying to figure out the correct letter, instead of jumping onto the next square or onto a different word where you've ALREADY put the correct word/letters into. This is a feature that is in EVERY other crossword game I've played, which makes them MUCH more pleasant to play. Now, when you buy the coins, Apple sometimes double and triples your order. When you report the problem they respond with, items are not refundable. So in short, you have no recourse. I love the fact that it has the calendar; and you can look back and see your accomplishments; and you can chose to go back and complete as many as you like. This being said, there is not enough coins given - if you need a hint, or need to check for errors, it cost you coins. There is no way to earn daily coins, even after completing the puzzle. The achievements you can complete, the coins are minimal. I’m at the point now where I need a year of play to receive any. Constantly having to watch adds to receive coins is kinda ridiculous, there should be a coin reward after completing a puzzle. I understand they need to make money. I did in-app purchases for coins to help me with puzzle clues. The format of the app is pleasing and there is great potential. The apolitical crosswords are actually a lot of fun. But to have ads pop up in the middle of a puzzle is so distracting and disruptive and I feel it is a strong arm tactic to get you to purchase the subscription. ✓ Used to be Great 😞This used to be the best free daily crossword app. Now you have to sit through three long-assed ads (at the beginning, mid point and right before you finish) for every puzzle. Or pay a ridiculous fee of $6.99 US per month for no ads. Additionally, app now keeps crashing and when you go back in, it has not saved your progress to date.
