Finimize Finance News Insights for Negative User Reviews

Waste of money and expensiveWas told it would be 49.99 but they charged me 99.99. ABSOLUTE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL CONTENT. DO NOT BUY.Version: 2.0.128

Subscription renews after cancelling, hard to cancel.I had a subscription that I bought through the App Store which was great and I got lots out of it and cancelled it after a year and didn’t think about worrying about it again, about a year later I look at my bank statement and they have auto renewed me another full year. You think you cancel on the App Store and they say you signed up on there website and charge you again..Version: 2.0.87

MehI’m a pharmaceutical investor and needed an efficient way to to get alerts when news dropped for my positions so I can get in and out in a well informed manner. Decided to give this app a try and was underwhelmed, none of my positions had any articles news or information on the upcoming catalysts. So I give up on that and do a little browsing to find an article about how to select divided stocks; article was garbage. Talked about how some investors choose to pursue a dividend heavy portfolio (duh) but didn’t talk at all about selecting what to buy. This might be geared more for people just starting out but I wouldn’t recommend for everyone..Version: 2.0.21

Don’t waste your timeApp doesn’t offer any free content to at least show what kind of quality context you’d have access after subscribing. It only gives you a yearly membership, that in itself says a lot. It bombards you with emails and the unsubscribe button doesn’t work - unlawful. Also, the 50% offer on email doesn’t work on the app. All that just shows what a waste of my money and time this app would mean..Version: 2.0.22

Needs improvementThe daily briefs are never early enough in the day. All updates are done after markets open. And that’s really a down side, even Bloomberg radio gets information out before 7am.Version: 2.0.60

Serious glitch with the imagesI love the app, it’s content, articles, news, tutorials etc BUT ... When you tap on any image, whether it’s a graph/plot, table, diagram, etc, and try to pinch zoom in, or scroll in any direction, it flickers, it doesn’t scroll, and so on, that is, in summary, the handling of images is a complete disaster, it’s very annoying, and most of images need to be zoomed in so you can see the details because at the end of the day it’s in a smart phone screen, and even on the biggest size screen iPhones, most image info is just not visible enough. I hope that the fix this issue ASAP or I’m not renewing my annual subscription..Version: 2.0.9

Can their CEO Max stop emailing???Ok I signed up to see what the hype is about and since then I keep getting “personalized” emails from their supposed CEO Max telling me to get the paid version. Max, I don’t want it. Go away. I deleted you from my phone and life..Version: 2.0.27

Garbage customer service, scattered contentThought I was on a free trial because I clicked a link through a blog. Turns out it signed me up right away. When I realized I contacted them about the error and they just pointed back to their ‘publicly available refund policy’ stating I don’t get a trial because I signed up directly for a membership. The content is scattered and not helpful in making meaningful financial decisions. Now I’m stuck with a useless membership for a year and the content isn’t even worth it. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else for your investing info..Version: 2.0.53

Not clear how charges workApp seems to be for free or offer some free functionality however when first using it you’re prompted to ‘Try free for 7 days then begin subscription’. When clicking ‘X’ on this window, the app seemingly works, which makes me think that they’ll start charging me in 7 days. I deleted my account only to receive an email stating that the account is ‘requested’ to be ‘scheduled’ for deletion in 10 days and if I get charged in the meantime I need to contact support (why, just delete it on time!!). Didn’t have the chance to check the app but the way the charges are designed is quite stressful hence a low score for me unfortunately..Version: 2.0.59

Bitcoin Bitcoin BitcoinPositions itself as investment advise but just pushes Bitcoin stories all day through push notifications and emails, encouraging speculative trading. There are other story’s in the app if you look, but I haven’t received an notification or email in months that wasn’t some rubbish about Bitcoin. Trading Bitcoin is fine if that’s what you’re into, but they are pushing the hype around it right now, while pretending to be serious long term financial analysts. If you actually want to learn about investment read something else- this is just hype focussed rubbish.Version: 2.0.24

Cash grabMassive fee - cash grab.Version: 2.0.20

Finimize is a scam!I have purchased a subscription and was given to understand that there is a “premium chat” group as part of this. It’s been over a month now and I still haven’t gotten into this “exclusive” chat group. No responses from the App team. It appears that there no way for me to get a refund and no way that this app is even worth a star in reviews. Please be aware that this App is running out of UK and that in itself is likely making refunds impossible..Version: 2.0.125

SubscriptionI paid for a annual subscription but the app premium content had remained locked. I’ve emailed customer services over the weekend in hopes they’d rectify the error. I haven’t received any response from the company regarding the matter. I feel as if I’ve been robbed. I’ve paid for something and not received what I paid for. It seems by the reviews the content isn’t worth the subscription price and the way they try to get you to pay for it lacks clarity but I still decided to give it ago. After paying the content remained locked and hasn’t changed. The money has been taken from my account but no service received, this show a clear technical problem with the application. The app isn’t worth paying for there’s many free apps that work just fine and offer similar content..Version: 2.0.50

Subscription apps should be up transparent about pricing inside the App Store. At £60 each year it’s an expensive app. The developers of such apps should have enough belief in the value of their product to put the price in the App Store. This lack of transparency just wastes time and effort of those who aren’t looking for a subscription service. The developer also hides the price from users of the website. There’s a ‘free’ seven day trial version. Which seems to require a credit card - so that seems like the developers hope that some people will just forget to cancel and end up paying for something they don’t use. The terms and conditions say this about the free version : The Free Version is made available to you free of charge and on as “as is” basis. In particular: its functionality may not be as described in the product description; it may not be of satisfactory quality; it may contain defects; it may not be fit for any particular purpose; it may not meet your requirements; it may not be compatible with your hardware or software; and it may not be secure..Version: 2.0.41

So many fake reviews. You need to pay to use.The number of fake reviews is staggering. It’s almost like subscriptions were given for free at colleges in exchange for 5 star reviews. This is the only app in Notification Center that Apple prompts whether to continue receiving notifications. Here’s my review of the app: * You can’t use the app without providing an email address. Why do you need my email address right at the beginning? * You can’t use the app without signing up for a subscription. Free trial isn’t really free. You’re signing up for an annual subscription that you can cancel in 7 days for no charge. The burden is on you to cancel. This sort of predatory nonsense says a lot. * The articles in the app are extremely basic… stuff you can get for free from your brokerage, cnbc and personal finance bloggers. * Stock coverage is poor. * I invested some money in the market based on recommendations in the app articles and actually lost money (S&P index funds were up 21% during the same period) * The privacy policy is scary. Your data is immediately harvested..Version: 2.0.52

Why make it so hard to cancel !Good luck trying to cancel !.Version: 2.0.41

Couldn’t read the things I wanted to, would consider trying it again with functionality improvesSigned up for the free trial and wanted to play around. I am not a beginner investor and thought this would save me time and effort (as their marketing campaigns say). Was not able to read details in the articles I was curious about - and kept getting the “subscribe here” to read this. Very frustrating. Couldn’t get an idea of the app or how it could benefit me. Suggestion to allow the daily brief to be free for all users. Maybe if I got something out of it I might start to see the benefits. Right now I do not see the benefit..Version: 2.0.45

Give me my money back!I subscribed for free with the option of being told before the end of the free trial do that I wouldn’t be charged for the subscription and you didn’t tell and now stole my money! Before I sue you it’s better I hear back from you and have the full refund I’m entitled to. I can’t believe you took my money, unreal-- for free with the option of being told before the end of the free trial do that I wouldn’t be charged for the subscription and you didn’t tell and now stole my money! Before I sue you it’s better I hear back from you and have the full refund I’m entitled to. I can’t believe you took my money, unreal--.Version: 2.0.66

Stop asking me if I’m enjoying the appJeez it’s been like ten times! I gave the damn app 5 stars ages ago but it keeps asking me - stop it!!!!!!!.Version: 2.0.100

ScamThis is a scam.Version: 1.8.0

?Why promote an app to college students via social media and then once downloaded be faced with the fact it’s over $80+. Why in the world would I have $80 for you and why would I spend that on this app. Just say it anywhere in the ad so other people don’t waste their time. The bounce rate off the initial app paywall must be crazy..Version: 2.0.22

I deleted the appI despise reading 40 pages of terms and conditions before you can even see the app and content. I despise being forced to create yet another account before you can even see the content. Then after that, being nagged to spend pile of money to view more than the headlines. I get these folks need to earn paychecks but for small bights of news I can get other places, just not worth it especially since they made me fume with miles of legal terms and conditions. Forget it!.Version: 1.6.28

It’s a glorified newsletterI bit the bullet and paid for a yearly subscription, which I’ll probably not renew. Pros: - Decently well-written content, all curated in one place - Avoids the need to trawl through different sources Cons: - All the information can be found pretty easily on other newsletters, for instance: 1440 daily digest, morning brew, the peak. Those services are also ad supported, just like Finimize’s newsletters. - Because it can’t legally give stock advice, some of the articles are a little wishy washy in their language. I’d recommend people considering the paid subscription to use Motley Fool and a newsletter subscription like morning brew instead. - No iPad app. Considering I do my my morning finance briefing on my iPad, I find it unacceptable that a paid app doesn’t have a solid iPad version to take advantage of multitasking (like split screening a stock chart while reading on the Finimize app) Overall, I don’t regret buying, but I don’t think I’ll be renewing or recommending..Version: 2.0.49

Paying to learn as a beginnerThis is a great app for brand new investors who have excess money for such a premium subscription (a bit of a paradox). There is little to no free articles available and they don’t cover singular international or less popular stocks very often. It feels pretty expensive for a beginner, when they can get most of the information for free elsewhere on these popularly covered stocks. Even tickers and stock value data is not available -pretty basic content for stock market advisory app. If this is the niche they choose, then so be it. I’d at least recommend that they create some kind of survey system where users can ask questions and Finimize can write articles more geared to popular questions, even if those questions are about a less popular international stock that is traded on the NYSE..Version: 2.0.14

Money 1st, Customer 2ndDownloaded the app opened an article read thru it tried to read another one and what do you know paywall. $80 paywall at that. They offer you 7 day trial but when you do you realize its not worth the money. $80 for articles you can find online for free i guess you pay because someone is reading them to you idk but even then $80 seems pretty steep they have a $12 month plan even that for what they offer seems steep unless they change the prices and content i and others that i have read reviews for wont be using this 2nd rate scam app.Version: 2.0.9

PaywallHalfway through reading my first article it cut off because I hadn't paid. Why is this a free app. I was also in a trial mode but still couldn't use it.Version: 2.0.48

User Interface needs workPerhaps the content is good but the UI is distracting. Everything looks crowded together and no ability to change font size. Can you please take a hard look at the design and make it more clean and smooth? I find it overwhelming to look through the app. the Ui seriously looks like it is from 2004..Version: 2.0.41

FeeFee.Version: 2.0.30

Pointless if you don't want to pay.I would describe the Finimize App as clunky and disappointing. The interface is often unresponsive and the imagery for articles and Info Packs is slow to load. The app promotes certain Info Packs on bookshelves that you navigate by scrolling vertically and horizontally - which is not ideal. But my biggest disappointment is how much of the content is locked behind a pay wall. Out of the 57 currently available Info Packs, only 2 can be accessed without signing up for a membership. And at £60/year i would say it is very expensive..Version: 0.2.0

All good things must come to an end. They have completely removed the human element to this app. All the insights are now spoken by a robot and there are plenty of articles which you can not listen to at all. It seems like they are only pumping out bare minimum content because they have annual memberships they need to satisfy. Overall this app adds little to no value which is disappointing because they had a great thing going..Version: 2.0.88

Not supported on iPadOn the iPad it opens in a small window mode.Version: 2.0.40

First day was thought-provoking, now everything appears stuck behind a pay wall. The first day I had the app I found it very interesting and was able to increase my financial knowledge. I returned on the second day to read the daily brief, and it would appear that everything is now stuck behind a pay wall. Updated in response to developer comment: Don’t get me wrong, I fully support paying subscriptions for services. Businesses need to make money for the services they provide (now more than ever). In my opinion, it would of been helpful for me to gauge the usefulness of your service in relation to my future goals if I received longer than 24 hours to assess and explore your app. Cutting me off after a day and requesting a subscription when I don’t fully have an idea of the service you provide INSTANTLY put me off. £5 is a very small fee to pay for a service that could be a wealth of information, and the loss of a £5 investment wouldn’t be an issue. But if I was to invest £5 for every finance app that I trialled, the losses would quickly amount..Version: 1.7.13

Fee1year $100?.Version: 2.0.23

MisleadingThis app is not free as much as they’d like you to believe. You get to read one free article then you have to sign up $100+ a year and it collects an incredible amount of personal data including the media on your phone. Should really be more upfront about this being a premium paid for service and not a free financial news app. Will not be using..Version: 2.0.47

Charged immediatelyI downloaded this and clicked on the button that says. “Try free for seven days then pay annuall subscription of $xyz” in less than a minute I was charged and I can work out how to get support.Version: 2.0.47

Subscription neededThese download for free and then require a subscription after 2 seconds apps are getting to be really annoying. You can basically look at 1 article and then everything else you click on gives a button to sign up for a year subscription. Just put this as a paid app! But then you wouldn’t be able to scam everyone into giving you their email addresses and charge ongoing rates. Greedy developers are ruining the App Store..Version: 2.0.39

Feels like a scamInstalled, provided my email (cannot do anything without any email), asked to pay or skip payment, skipped payment and then noticed all articles were paid. Nothing opened. It could have just specified upfront for me to not proceed at all. Total junk!!.Version: 2.0.7

Simplistic content, deceptive billingI used to receive free Finimize newsletter, it was useful for what I paid for it. When I got an discount offer for yearly subscription which I have tried. Paid content did not live to my expectations - it is essentially dumbed down CNBC or Bloomberg. If you think you can successfully invest on what you learn from this you really need to have an honest look at your skill set before you loose your money to people who put “a bit” more effort to learn investing. (Like years of effort) I did not use it much and app had extended my subscription billing me for full yearly fee without notice so that Promo feels like bait and switch. Everything worth doing is worth doing right - if you want to learn investing there is lots of free info on web and YouTube - you just need to put some conscious effort.Version: 2.0.11

Got my money stolen!I opted for the 1 week free trial and you guys have charged me $101!!! How do I get a refund, please contact.Version: 2.0.33

Used to be good but now it seems to have gone downhillThis app used to be incredibly useful, it provides great news stories in a bite size article and explains things really well. However, it seems recently, there is absolutely nothing you can access without paying, previously there were some news stories you could access without paying a subscription but now all I can see is the synopsis of the article. Now it is essentially obsolete as I do not want to pay..Version: 1.6.31

Buyer beware- be ready to commitUnless you’re ready to invest your time into using this app, DO NOT GET THIS. I allowed the week free trial thinking I’d make some time. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. No reminder of the free trial end date came, and I suddenly got a receipt for almost $100CAD for an annual subscription. When you follow the directions to cancel, but then request a refund for the simple error, your told to go through the Apple subscriptions which walk you through active subscriptions only, so now I need to navigate how to speak to Apple about this and it’s not simple at all. Not to mention because it’s US based it’s literally not something I want. I realize there can be value in that, but I don’t need more info on US banks or the Roth IRA (5 seconds of finally scrolling the app), I need advice that’s helpful in canada..Version: 2.0.93

Can’t cancel my subscription second year in a rowLast year it was “cancel via iPhone settings” I did. This year I get billed again and it says “cancel via our website”. I go on website, log in with email I use on the app and it says “email not found”. Lol yet I’m billed for premium. I thought I canceled last year and when I haven’t received renewal noticed I assumed we’re ok. Nope, got billed and can’t even cancel..Version: 2.0.99
