✓ Careful with latest updateThis app is my workhorse sampler and has been rock solid for a long stretch. No longer. The last update has caused several issues—some are feature bugs that I can deal with because there are workarounds. The DSP spikes as an AU are really troublesome however. Nothing else in my rig has changed (still on iOS 13.3) so the spikes have to be caused by AL; I wish I could revert to the last version. No response from the developer through the website..Version: 1.3.0
✓ APP IS BROKEN!!Tried to report via Website and got this on submitting "Not Found The requested URL was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request." So posting info here: App will not start - crashes every time on splash screen. iOS 17.5 , iPad Pro 3rd Generation Please Fix. Thanks.Version: 2.0.0
✓ EXS24 Import Issues - Latest UpdateI used to LOVE this app! Closest thing to Kontakt for the iPad! But with this latest update, it no longer allows me to load custom exs24 or sfz instruments? It gives me this error that says samples are missing? I’m not sure why this just started happening after I updated, but if youguys can fix this, then 5-Star rating for sure! Sorry for the bad review, but this is going to be a killer if this issue never resolved! Please let me know if youguys can fix this. Thank you! PS. Midi Volume control in the future would be a nice feature I think..Version: 1.6.5
✓ This thing never worksI have put this app on 3 different iPads and on 2 iPhone’s and the same thing keeps happening. If it doesn’t crash the presets won’t change. The keyboard in Auv3 mode is none responsive. I never got any use out of this app I paid for. Please fix it for real or just give back my money..Version: 1.2.1

✓ DisappointingThis looks a potentially great app but is unusable for me on a 2017 iPad. Constant crashes means no way could I rely on this for live playing and to be honest it feels like I've been robbed..Version: 1.0.4
✓ Does not work, glitchy and buggy!Sfz batch import does not work, the samples are not imported, no matter what I try. Even manually copying the files into the supposed path specified in layers -> missing files has no impact. Setting the storage location to anything other than “local” forces the import dialog to default to audioshare which is not always wanted. Even importing from audioshare and selecting multiple samples does not work, it only does the first sample. Creating a new instrument does not work cleanly, the resulting instrument is empty and unplayable after mapping samples but switching to another sound then back to the “just created” sound makes it work. When storage is set to default “local” you cannot manage the files in Files.app and have to use the crappy internal sample manager. The folder is hidden/invisible by default. Im guessing this app used to be better… but at £20 I cant wait and am forced to refund. Perhaps the dev broke things with the new sf2 import (should be free!)..Version: 1.9.1
✓ Completely useless.I go into Audioshare and try to load a sample into Audiolayer but does Audiolayer even load that sample.Not at all and I get kicked out.It just goes back to the screen where all my other apps are.This app is not even worth the 14.99 I paid for.There are other samplers that do way better and cost less..Version: 1.0.3
✓ Missing Program Change!The sampler works great, and I love the EXS24 importing. BUT I can’t use the app with my live performance setup because I can’t switch instruments via MIDI program change messages. This is an essential function which I hope the author adds in a future update..Version: 1.6.7

✓ Fantastic Apps, but ONE big problem…Why one star when it could be five? I have a few of Harry’s apps and they all achieve greatness in different ways. AUDIOLAYER is no exception. However contact with the Dev seems almost impossible, non-existent. I’ve tried via the VirSyn website but to no avail. It’s a pity, as I’m sure a quick email would answer, or even sort, my problem..Version: 1.7.0
✓ Won’t import sfzBought this specifically to lay sfz files - sfz file import doesn’t work. Followed the VirSyn instruction video exactly even used the same file they use in the video. The only thing that happens is the sfz “opens” in the Files app and shows the file info..Version: 1.2.1

✓ So closeThis app could become a real game changer for touring artists and travelling songwriters if it had just a few small improvements. It’s very stable and the interface is nice but if they could make it capable of reading Mainstage Auto-Sampler ESX24 File names, which is kind of the industry standard these days due to how fast and efficiently it can resample hardware synths, then this would be an absolute game changer. I think it’s a great app for people who have time to rename all their files to the suggested format but most of us use autosampler for that very reason, so that we don’t have to. With that implemented this would be 5 stars and I think it’s still useful but not as good as it could be.Version: 1.0.4
✓ Does not work on ios 15I bought this to multisample external synths, but any multisamples are not savable in the AUM plugin since ios 13 according the error. also found it very frustrating that the MIDI out channel can be set. always on channel 1.Version: 1.6.5
✓ Stunningly poor user interfaceThe amazingly badly designed user interface makes this potentially powerful app all but useless. You either have to import everything all at once via the poorly documented batch operation, or delete it all, edit outside the app, and try again. Made a small error? Delete it all and start again because the user interface makes selecting and changing small elements too difficult? Selected the wrong thing and you want to deselect so that you can see what’s going on? Forget it: tap in an empty space and you get the load dialog. Tap out of that, and your unwanted selection is still there. Pinch zoom into make it easier to select? Forget it: pinch zoom is so limited, you can never make tiny elements large enough to manipulate. So just edit their data fields by hand? Forget it: you can view the data for each zone, but you can change things via the graphical interface. Sometimes the tiny graphical control items don’t even appear on the screen. Simply scroll to one side to make them visible? Forget it: they’re so far to the side that the iPad always snaps the screen back to push the elements out of sight again. So reach blindly and hope you grab the right thing and placed it in the right spot? There you go! But oops you made a small placement error, so manually delete everything, do another batch import, and do it all over again. Classic case of logical, theoretically correct, yet utterly incompetent user interface design. Thinking of buying this tedious time waster? Forget it!.Version: 1.2.1
✓ Imports EXS, no Program Change, Limited CC SupportThe Good: Imports multi layer EXS24 instruments Nice Effects Saves samples locally to phone or load from iCloud Good if you play one instrument at a time (like a bottom keyboard piano) and you have plenty of time to change sounds using the menu list. I use Audiolayer to play my 200mb piano exes multisample. Works nicely! The Bad: Does not receive program changes Limited Controller Support Cannot quickly change from piano to saw and tweak filter cutoff or effects in real-time I use a 500mb soundfont and an iOS sf2 player for all my single/ top keyboard dynamic sounds… This app is one step away from a being a classic multisample performance instrument..Version: 1.7.0

✓ Powerful, but unstableThis is the best sampler I’ve found on iOS, feature wise it’s near identical to Logic’s EXS24... But, like the current POTUS, it’s dangerously unstable... It crashes within a few minutes every time I use it, stand-alone or hosted as an Audio Unit in GarageBand. Which is a real shame, especially considering the price tag. For reference, I’m using Audio Layer on a 126gb iPad Mini 3 running iOS 11.3 Honestly I’d like a refund, but given what this app could be, I’d rather it just worked..Version: 1.0.3
✓ Needs more work.A batch import function and better sample file management with a search feature would go a long way. For example, multi-select n .sfx files in either the Files App or AudioLayer built-in browser, share to AudioLayer or ‘import’ depending on the first option chosen, select or create a folder and presto! The current feature works, but imports them all to the same place. I look forward to your response..Version: 1.3.0

✓ Nearly AmazingIt sounds great, the editing capabilities are deep, very easy to use but...but why can't we control parameters from midi? Like the filter, ADSR the effects and so on? Am I missing something ? No proper manual either so I can't find out for sure. Also midi program change is something I use a lot . All music apps should have these basic midi features so we can use them for reals onstage etc!!. Please VirSyn, make it so.Version: 1.0.4
