✓ No option to test outI would love to try out the app and see if it's something I'm willing to pay for. But unfortunately there is no option for a free trial without committing to an annual 50$ subscription and proving your payment information. I wish there was an option to test out without signing up for a subscription, or at least give us the option for a free trial on the monthly plan - as of now it's only on the annual plan and I don't want to accidently forget to cancel and be charged 50$..Version: 1.0.5
✓ It's good, but need some voiceover accessibility improvements.The sounds are really awesome in this app, good job. Also good job for implementing airplay support to HomePods at Cetera, that just makes things sound a lot more realistic. I like that when you open the app, the app plays the last sound you were listening to, no need to select from a list. I also like the background activity, and the mix with other apps feature, because I can listen to audio books or meditations from another app while listening to this app as well. The only thing I would ask for is better VoiceOver support. I am able to navigate through the list of sounds, and figure out basic things in the app, but I can't use other features like the timer, the breathing exercises you provided in the app, and the sleep alarm function. Other than that, good app for listening to relaxing sounds while I am listening to a book, or other meditations, etc..Version: 1.1.1
✓ REFUND!!!So Today I updated my Apple’s payment info by adding a new credit and as soon as I did that Portal made a quick deduction of $45 CAD from my new Credit card even tho I subscribed yearly membership back in March, on March 15’22(2 Months ago) and paid the full amount of $45 from my previous credit. Please I request the devs to look into it and kindly make the refund asap as this is completely unacceptable. Thank you.Version: 3.5.9
✓ Really relaxing, but some modes weren’t helpfulThis app helped me relax really well, but I had a lot of problems with the sleep mode, because it made me relax, but didn’t help with sleeping - but this is probably just me. Another thing is that a lot of the sounds didn’t help me and after a while just got annoying - again that probably just me. I was looking at the premium so I could unlock different sounds, which would really help me, but the premium is so expensive, and doesn’t really offer as much as other apps if you buy the premium. Despite all this, it’s pretty relaxing, and it’s a shame some of the modes didn’t work for me, because I’m sure they would work for other people, but overall a really well made app :).Version: 3.3.0

✓ Can't recommend it unfortunatelyReally great concept as I like to plug my Macbook in clamshell mode into my 4k TV and just let ambience videos run in the evening. I thought I could do this with this app and have more quality videos to choose from but there is no way to see the videos in full screen. They only take over your desktop. It breaks the immersion since you see the top and lower bar of the desktop and can't simply look at it in full screen. Had to stop the trial and delete it because of that. Such a shame because it's only a feature away from being a truly great app..Version: 1.0.4
✓ Very inaccessibleI found this app while browsing the App Store, it looked intriguing so I installed it, not a good decision. This app is very inaccessible for people who use voiceover. If you don’t know, voiceover is a software that reads the screen to viewers who are visually impaired or blind using either iPhones or iPads. I was really looking forward to using this app for concentration, I guess I’m gonna have to find a new one instead of this one, going to be deleting this app when I’m done writing this review..Version: 3.7.2

✓ Careful!!The app itself is great, no issues and their team is top notch. I was billed for the year even though I cancelled the trial in time. Apple won’t refund me and I’ve tried to dispute it twice. I mean, they can literally see the data that I hadn’t used it beyond day 3 of my week long trial and still refused. The app should clarify that - I'm all for charging users for good apps, but don't make us install apps and then tell us we need to give you our credit card info to even try it out. ✓ No soundI really want to love this app. I even bought the year subscription. However now I want to return it as the main point of this app is sound and mine keeps going silent. The first time I tried the alarm it worked great. This morning I set it for 15 minutes before my normal alarm app was set to go off. Not only did portal turn on a ‘silent’ alarm, it also silenced my regular alarm that was supposed to go off later, causing me to oversleep. The other issue is that there were multiple times when I went to the app to turn it on and it would show the pictures with no sound. Yes, I checked the app mute and volume as well as every other mute and volume on the phone, nothing showed any problem. Killing the app and restarting it would turn the sound back on..Version: 3.3.3
✓ Amazing sounds, confusing interfaceThe soundscapes on this are by far the best out there - and I’ve used almost all rain apps! So good with noise cancelling. Couple of things that let the app down though; the interface just seems overly complicated and I often find myself swiping up and down not knowing what I’m really doing. Seems a simple list might just do the job. Secondly it’s annoying that the sounds stop when you are browsing. Perhaps the my portals bit at the bottom could just be a now playing. ✓ Useless…Well, I paid my money and absolutely regret it. Loops are still limited, you have to download “libraries” and you have to keep your screen on otherwise the 30 second loops stop playing. All this is NOT worth the paid “upgrade”. Useless app as several others out there (free and paid) offer more. ✓ I wish it worked for meI am using a 27" iMac running Sonoma OS, and I really wanted this to work for me. But what happens is that the background video freezes and there is text in the bottom left corner that shows "downloading" but it never goes away. The sounds are so vivid, and the crispness of the images are exciting to me and sometimes the videos load, but because it's so hit or miss, I don't end up using it. Maybe the app designers can smooth out this glitch? I think it's promising. Maybe it's something wrong with my computer settings but because I don't know how to fix it, it's not that user friendly. ✓ Pretty, but nothing specialI’ve been using other apps such as MyNoise and BetterSleep for a while. Apart from pretty visuals, other apps offer more practical features like mixing different sounds together and equalisers. Also I found it very annoying to only support landscape mode, that’s a deal breaker right there, Also, although the free included sounds seem decent, that isn’t anywhere near enough to get me to signup (no I don’t want a free trial lol, please don’t try tricky things like that in an app about relaxation)..Version: 3.7.2

✓ Great app, really disappointed in the subscription.So I paid I believe 5.99 for the premium version of this app maybe a year or so ago. It was well worth it at the time. After being dormant for a while, I opened it back up to listen while reading and noticed there’s now a subscription. Now, I’m always instantly disappointed with apps with subscriptions. I automatically see it as a way to milk your customers and it seems like Portals no different. Even after paying $6, I’m still locked out of over 50% of what this app offers. I know subscriptions aren’t going away anytime soon, but if you can find something else on the AppStore that has a consumer friendly business model, then I would go with that and pass on Portal. If you’re fine with subscriptions, then I would recommend you still pass. At $40/year, it just doesn’t seem worth it for the amount of content and options you get.
