Good all round note taking appI have been using it for about 10 days. My goal is to be paperless as far as possible and so far I find this a good substitute to a physical notebook. I particularly like the ability to move jottings around which helps me when I am trying to organise my thoughts. I find it less convenient for annotating pdfs. One issue with pdf files which tend to shrink when uploaded to the app. The text in the default view is rather smaller than in other viewers for pdfs like Adobe. When the toolbar is visible they shrink even more. Whilst you can zoom in, this makes it inconvenient to flick through the documents as the zoomed in view does not stay still. Perhaps there are ways to get around these limitations which I have yet to discover..Version: 5.4.9

Not stable with IOS 14Currently writing this review because I have no way to contact the developers. It is freezing and crashing constantly. After IOS I have a constant pop up with in the app stating that iCLoud sync is not working. Extremely annoying. There is no other app I have this problem with and I have plenty of storage. Also every-time that I try and scroll up it skips up 10 to 20 pages when I scroll down just a little from the top of the page it will add an entire new page. Also I can not access the flashcards feature and there is no update available. I attempted to install and reinstall the app on my ipad and now I cant access any documents from my ipad. ***Update: most of the major issues have been resolved. Still a little glitchy but no where as bad as it was. I was able to use the flashcard feature but unfortunately wasn't too impressed. I use lots of diagrams to study but when using the flashcard feature the flashcard paper doesn't larger for pictures so I spent all that time making flashcards only to spend more time squinting than actually studying - I know it’s in beta so this could be an amazing feature but I hope the developers will allow the flashcards features to be full screen when you try to review..Version: 5.6.9

Too buggyI was a daily GN4 user and was very happy with the app. Like a kid on Christmas morning, I was thrilled to see the GN5 update because I optimistically believed that all that I liked about GN4 would only get that much better with the update. I was wrong. GN5 has a lot of bugs that ruin the experience—the text box does not align with the lines on the pages. Tab returns take you to other pages instead of remaining on the active page. There are ghost-like flashes when you erase. Etc. Besides the bugs, there are two design changes that, for me, make the updated app less useful: moving the eraser and the undo/redo buttons to the top tool bar instead of keeping them on the text box. With GN4 I could write quickly with my Apple Pencil erasing and undoing errors with only a slight movement of my hand. I am off to find other apps that will meet my needs. Maybe I’ll check back now and then to see if GN5 has reached its full potential. UPDATE: After a six month hiatus, I am back to using GN5 every day. The bugs I noticed before have been fixed. I still would prefer that the eraser and undo buttons were on the text box..Version: 5.6.5

Changed the way I work foreverBeen using this to study for my post grad degree and omg i have been recommending this to everyone. It really makes my workflow so much more efficient. Some of my work is quite repetitive and i love that I can just copy the same graph/axes to draw on as many times as I need. I have every single colour pen at my disposal. No more twenty notebooks and two pencil cases! (I'm not exaggerating!) I use this app for everything from uni registration, studies and even writing on any forms and pdfs for personal use. So so so much paper saved as I just have a scrap paper tab open and i can continuously erase it for calculations. I no longer have to tear pages out of my books because notes aren't pristine and perfect. And it backs up to google drive for extra security!!! I will say it's not yet perfect. I wish there was a table drawing function and a dropper tool to select colours from an image or on the page..Version: 5.5.3

MehI think I will stick to GoodNotes 4. It’s not a bad update and it looks nice. I am sure I would get used to the layout after using it a but but some things are gone and new things that are highly requested aren’t here yet. There is a place for outlines in the thumbnail view in a document but I can make a new outline. When I imported my notebook from 4 I had bookmarks that aren’t there anymore. The bookmarks have changed to favorites which show up as thumbnails and I need them as the outline list like in 4 but can’t add that now. If I unfavorites something that was named from 4, it doesn’t allow me to rename it. This app still doesn’t have a way to add hyperlinks attached to texts or shapes or strokes are whatever, to other pages in the document which I really need. So I guess add hyperlink ability (if there are already hyperlinks in the document you import, you can still use them if you turn on touch mode, but you can’t add any new ones), fix the bookmarks/outlines/favorites situation to work the way it should, and then just to be picky, why does the view change when I go into touch mode... I don’t like that either. Make it like in 4 where it doesn’t change anything in the view.Version: 5.0.3

Excellent tool for making study notesBeen using it for making notes for postgraduate study (mostly summaries of journal articles) and I love it. It made studying so much more enjoyable as it takes away the burden of having to organise numerous notes which get lost so easily. The features are easy to understand and use..Version: 5.6.9

Best available but could be betterI am an undergraduate student and use GoodNotes for just about all of my classes. I love the notebooks and organization, as well as the color options. I think this app is great for taking notes because you can bookmark pages, search, and easily navigate the pages within a notebook using the outline or thumbnails. However, there are a few features I wish could be improved on. I so, so, so wish there was a way to sync audio recordings to your note taking. I have some professors who just speak way too quickly or I just need to be able to go back and listen to what they said and this feature would help so much. I use another app that has this feature for certain classes, but would much prefer if GoodNotes offered this as well. This other app also allows you to have two notes open side by side. GoodNotes does have the convenient tabs at the top, but having two notes open would be much easier. I also think the text feature could be improved, maybe allowing an option that lines the text up with the lines on the paper. Overall, great app and will continue to use, but I do need to use a different app for some classes..Version: 5.4.8

Maybe one changeGoodNotes is amazing to use, I love how well it works for annotating PowerPoints but, I do wish there was a feature where we could adjust the amount of zoom on the page we are working on. GoodNotes automatically zooms in on the page till it fits the screen but I’d like for there to be an option where I could adjust the zoom of the page because sometimes the automatic fit to screen feels too zoomed in for me when writing. Apart from that, I love all the features and everything is super easy and simple to use..Version: 5.6.44

This is the greatest app I’ve ever purchasedI’m in nursing school and I can’t tell you how this app changed my study routine because you would be here all day. Not to mention, I essentially will never have to purchase multi-colored pens, highlighters, no more erasers, or other odd items like stickers. Everything in this app allows you to creat fun, engaging, and detailed content. You can import documents (easier than any program I’ve ever used), you can export to any format you’d like without any additional conversion programs or making sure the order and format are correct. It makes everything easy! You can take photos and crop as you need, add text, move your notes around if they’re in the wrong place rather than having to re-write them all together. My favorite feature is drawing on things you can import to the app: need to take notes on diagrams? You can do it. Need to draw on a photo and export? You can do it. Everything is so intuitive and super simple to figure out/organize. I know $9 seems a little steep for the app but I promise you, you will get the full value of this app. Retrospectively, even if this app was $30 I would still purchase it. If you’re on the fence, don’t be! Get. The. App. You’ll be glad that you did..Version: 5.6.9

Love this appAt first it was intimidating to learn all the cool tricks and tools because becoming a paperless student is definitely a transition that takes getting used to. With the amount of work I have to do I was not looking forward to teaching myself about a new app but once you get the hang of it, it’s sooo worth it! I just wish there was a way to make bullet points in the text boxes for when I want to copy and paste from word or when I feel like typing. So if they add that and the ability to voice record, they would be hands down THE BEST.Version: 5.6.46

Best Notes App for OrganizationI had my doubts about this app honestly, but it is safe to say that it is currently my favorite app on my iPad. I like to color coordinate my notes, it makes it easier for me to see and understand my notes. I love that you were able to import files directly into GoodNotes5. For example, as a college student, I use the Canvas School App. I am able to import all PDF readings, notes, PowerPoint‘s, and even test blanks directly to a new or previous folder and then edit them all while my professor is teaching. It loads quickly, there is not much of a learning curve for beginners. It’s honestly that easy. I love that there’s tons of free “Templates” if you wanted to use this app as a planner or a binder as well. My only suggestion, is highlighting your text at the very end of class. If you highlight everything first, then decide to edit the text size or font later, anything that was highlighted will not move with your text if that makes sense. All of it will resize together as one if you use the “resize“ button. However, if you resize your text in any other way, or change it in any other way, the highlighter markings will not format themselves to fit your new font or text size..Version: 5.6.34

Horizontal scrolling & bookmarks!I used to use Notability as my main note-taking/PDF viewing app. however, the lack of horizontal scroll and built-in viewer for preset bookmarks makes it rather frustrating to scroll through large documents. GoodNotes 5 has both horizontal scroll and vertical scroll, making viewing documents and taking notes a breeze. The built-in bookmark editor does not only present the preset bookmarks but also lets the users to edit the bookmark list. With the addition of multiple levels of folders and the “favourite” marking method, organization is superior on GoodNotes. The writing experience is also smooth and enjoyable in every aspect. NOW WE JUST NEED A BUILT-IN VOICE RECORDER..Version: 5.1.5

Game ChangerAs a university student I take tons of notes and used to waste so much paper. I had to haul around huge folders and when I lost something...well too bad. Now I have my notes safely stored in my cloud, can change and add something however and whenever I want and the only thing I have to carry around to have access to my accumulated knowledge is my trusty iPad. Taking notes with pen and paper is both wasteful and inefficient but simply typing on a laptop doesn’t let me actually retain the information. I can’t believe I haven’t switched sooner. The app itself is both intuitive and reliable. Although I didn’t have any experience with digital note taking so far, I was able to find any feature I needed right away and discovered several other useful ones on the way. GoodNotes is definitely worth the 7.99 they charge. Only thing I wish it would be added are lecture recordings. Keep it up!.Version: 5.4.11

A students dream journalI have been using GoodNotes for about a year now and it is the best note taking app I have used. Don’t get me wrong, the already installed notes app that comes with all the apple products is good too, however, GoodNotes gives so much variety and feels like I can be more organized. As a college student this is a lifesaver for school and classes. Everything saves and is stored in app and also on icloud so if you need it transferred to other device you can either download the app again and download the notes or upload to your icloud files. It’s also so good for the pandemic, since everything is online. It is a lot easier to do work on GoodNotes then upload what you need onto things like blackboard, D2L, canva, etc. Aside from it being a great note taking alternative, it is sort of eco-friendly in the sense that it helps save paper and helps from not having to use pens or pencils anymore. Just need a electronic device that can download the app and preferably a apple pencil or surface pro stylus (anything that can write on the device). Overall it’s a great app and a great investment for everyone and anyone!.Version: 5.6.15

It’s the bees knees.Would rate it even higher if you were able to fill an enclosed space with a colour but it still gets 10/10 from me..Version: 5.6.30

Very intuitive to use with a huge range of featuresI found this app met all of my needs for both studying and personal use.Version: 5.4.23

PLEASE ADD THISGoodNotes 5 has personally served me well throughout the fall semester at my University. I decided for this school year to ditch my MacBook Pro and switch over to the iPad Pro 11’ as its more portable and has many Mac-like features. I did extensive research on finding the best note taking app and became stuck between purchasing Notability and GoodNotes 5 (both widely regarded as the top note taking apps). In this predicament, I decide to purchase both apps and test for myself which I felt more comfortable with. Over time I eventually grew closer to GoodNotes 5 and fell in love with all the features this app pack. Plus, the organization of all my notebooks is unmatched by any other app. The user interface may be overwhelming to some at first, but once to get used to the flow of GoodNotes you will never look back. I would give this app a 5 star rating, but the only thing I PLEAD GoodNotes 5 to add is a recording feature (seen in Notability). Recording is so convenient, especially during dragged out college lectures and would be an amazing compliment to an already amazing app. GoodNotes 5 > Notability in my opinion. JUST PLEASE CONSIDER ADDING A RECORDING FEATURE!!!.Version: 5.3.11

A great app gets even betterI’ve been a version 4 user for some time now having tried a number of note taking apps on the iPad in the past few years. Having upgraded today I have to say I am loving version 5. The app seems cleaner and the ability to search across all notebooks is a game changer for me. It’s now simpler to do common tasks with a single click given the new toolbar and reorganised layout. I’m not a huge fan of the additional toolbar, but if you’ve only got one notebook open it saves an additional line where your notebook tabs would be. Migrating all my notes from v4 to v5 was very simple as I have been using iCloud as my backup. Literally one click. My only slight gripe is that the “yellow” paper colour I used in version 4 seems to have changed slightly in version 5, so I can see the difference in multi-page view in the pages I added from within version 5. Other subtle changes such as auto fill with shapes and straight line drawing with the highlighter are really nice touches that just add more value to the app. The one feature I’d still like to see is the ability to record audio in sync with the notes being taken. Notability does this and it was a feature I regularly used. It’s far from a deal breaker with GoodNotes but if the dev team are looking for something to do ... !!.Version: 5.0.1

Amazing app.Proud of it. Unfortunate the pages cannot be zoomed in on to save space, you have to make a whole new page. Would and have recommended it to more people. Reasonable price for something I use every day for about 5 hours every day..Version: 5.4.26

3 majors and 3 minors3 major things I’d like changed: pixel eraser, pdf imports, eyedropper. Please make the pixel eraser more exact/smaller pixels-like apple notes. They’re huge and it’s not really a pixel eraser with such big pixels because it’s basically a stroke. Pdf imports would be more convenient if there was an option to treat like an image: crop, resize, etc. an eyedropper for picking up exact colors on the screen would be nice. 3 minor things to change: screenshot, dot/grid/line adjustments, more utensil variations. Why do I need to manually choose to save a screenshot? I screenshotted it to save it, why do I need to confirm that through a pop up window? Consistently inconvenient, please just save the screenshots from the lasso automatically. The dots/grid/lines would be nice if I could adjust the sizes. It would be nice to have more utensil variations too. Maybe a crayon/colored pencil? And a boxy highlighter. I like the export of pages and files, really nice and convenient. It’s nice to have the option to save to different drives (because I ran out of iCloud storage). Nice organization and layouts-which can change for each page which is really nice. Good app. Thanks :) but I’d like more if the 3 majors got changed :) and even better if the 3 minors did too.Version: 5.6.26

Some suggestions1.Record while writing ( Most IMPORTANT); 2.Support to use documents and PowerPoint in notes page 3.Can make a mind-map (by itself ) ; 4. can have contacts /key words for each pages, and you can touch the themes/keywords to jump to that pages 5. When I change the size, I hope I can choose change the thickness line’s can be changed or not; 6.Can add some shape like dash line; Can also change a circle with certain center, radius. 7.Can chose the changes of tool can be changed together or not while using split screen; 8. When I search something, I hope I can search formula and the words of pdf; 9. The outline can have second, third...tags when I type in; 10. While copy something, can automatically change the size which match the hand writing size, but not always just 24; 11. Can use translate in the app; 12. When I implore PDF of word and PowerPoint to the app, I hope I can select to have same size as my Nate page and select to leave some empty gaps. Thank you. Looking forward to the next update. Best Regards..Version: 5.4.13

Split screen at last!I’ve used this app for years in many iterations for my hand written notes for education, for meal planning, for travel planning, for annotating documents and other random uses. Now that they have (finally) introduced split screen so I can view two GoodNotes documents or even two seperate pages in a good notes document I am finally writing a review because this app is pretty much perfect. Other faves of mine include the quick switch in colours and the lasso tool. Can’t even think of any negatives, this app is fantastic..Version: 5.3.3

Perfect for homeschoolI was a bit dubious at first -given the price. However I now find that I am using it for at least a few hours everyday - especially with schools being shot right now (#stayathome) the only two subjects I still use my class exercise book for are biology (recently got anew book + dont want to waste the paper) and for english literature for a similar reason. I have downloaded Cornell note templates (only lined Cornell paper on come with goodnotes no squared or dotted which I prefer) I got it from Janice studies website I think (free). I absolutely love it. It is very good whether you make messy notes, practical and useful notes or strdygram aesthetic notes. I could not recommend this app more. I have even ordered a matte Paperlike screen protector because I’m using my iPad and Apple Pencil so much more that i can kind of justify the price ;)..Version: 5.4.13

Superb app! I can only recommend it!One of the most creative productivity apps I have ever used on an iPad. GoodNotes has many sides and makes it extremely easy to mock up design ideas or annotated mood boards. From the designers perspective you have to rely on only the essentials -with regards brushes or image manipulation features etc.- but I consider this a benefit rather than a barrier, especially if you don’t wish to get lost in the details. Organising files and (!): searching handwritten text are also great and sometimes extremely useful features! I have just started to use the flash cards function too as I’m trying to improve my ability of speaking. I use GoodNotes on a daily basis and it is truly a great app!.Version: 5.6.46

✌️😗Really good app, I use it for my year 12 study notes on ipad pro, it might cost a bit more than usual iphone apps but compared with typing and computing apps such as word and one note it is really cheap and a one time only payment. There is a wide range of options for organisation and has really cute designs for the individidual note pads to fill. One thing I'd say could be improved is the text feature, more structured formatting options could work well, especially for using it to type with a laptop. Overall love the app and would definitely reccomend it for students looking to organise notes easier..Version: 5.4.23

WonderfulA fantastically useful app that is easy to use with some great functionality. It’s great to write novels with as you can have multiple notebooks open in tabbed format making it easy to switch between them. One feature that would enhance it just that little bit further would be a functionality that enables an entire notebook to be converted to text rather than having to use the lasso tool multiple times. A minor thing since you can export it as a PDF but handy..Version: 5.6.24

Very good with some areas for improvementI have been using GoodNotes for almost a year for year 12. It has made life far easier as I do not have to carry around numerous books, just the one slim package! However, I find an area the app lacks in is note taking via keyboard. It has a basic text box feature allowing you to type small notes. What I would be really excited to see added to this feature is the ability to use dot points like word or OneNote. Tables would be great too, just saying. All in all though, its a really solid app that I would highly recommend..Version: 5.6.22

SuggestionI would like to have 5 option of colour at the top instead of just 3. I dont know if that can be add but that would really help me! :).Version: 5.6.54

Would give a 5 star if the collaborative editing mode is stable and truly real timeI’m doing online teaching and would love a notebook app that can enable real time, collaborative editing for lecturing. GoodNotes does provide a feature that may work well. My setup is: I am doing white boarding on my iPad while sharing the screen of my laptop using Zoom. I open a GoodNotes session on the laptop and project the app to Zoom’s shared screen. While the fast collaborative ode works well for newly created document, it becomes really lagged when 1) the document has been opened for a while (20 min to 1 hour), and/or 2) I re-open an existing document that I created a while ago (with fast online editing mode enabled). The latency is too long—ranging from 10 seconds to sub minute— to be acceptable for real time editing. I have to switch to a different app in order for my lecture to proceed as expected. I love the user experience of GoodNotes’ other features; but talking about the collaborative editing feature, it really pisses the users off. I’d really demand the team to fix the lagging issue of this feature. I’m not sure if this is due to the backend design options like periodically moving a doc to a slower tier that syncs using the slow iCloud storage or not. But this issue does persists for at least few weeks. Thanks!.Version: 5.6.34

Lag and buggy after latest updateThe latest update with the addition of presentation mode has made the app very laggy when doing normal writing and highlighting. Previously, this app was near flawless. If this was amended, this app would be back at its 5 star rating. With the presentation mode, I wished that the mode was hidden in the share menu instead of residing in the toolbar. I think that the presentation mode is not something I would need to use often, so putting it away in somewhere more hidden like the share menu would be ideal..Version: 5.2

Just the bestFabulous product. I use this for planning my work, going to meetings and recording, for recipes, for any notes. I love that I can add my images, web images, use any colour pen and highlighter. I use the circle, line part of the app to get straight lines as needed. I also up or downsize the thickness of the pen. I can email a notebook or a page to myself or anyone else. I can print easily. I can store different aspects in a variety of folders keeping my work and personal life organised. This just is the best app for an iPad with a pencil. It makes my life so much more fun, colourful and organised..Version: 5.4.9

Best app everJust take my word you won’t regret it.Version: 5.6.54

Wish it had voice recordingsBeing able to have voice recordings to drag and drop on the notepad would make this app absolute ace..Version: 5.5.7

AWESOME!This app has soooo many features that are super convenient. I use it to take notes as I am a full time student. There are some features however I feel that need to be added to make this app just that little more versatile in its functionality of the formatting that it offers. An insert table option, different page templates like a calendar weekly, daily, monthly and yearly would be super cool and most importantly, the option to download documents from the internet just like notability would have saved me the cost of one the apps and had all my note taking in the one place. Overall, it’s very easy to use and makes note taking fun!.Version: 5.6.46

Almost 5 starI have been using Good Notes 4 for almost a year now and it was great. Had no bad experiences, maybe would be good if you can make it work together with Samsung products as well and not just Apple. This was you get broader aspects of good notes overall. Not that I am being biased but I bought my new iPad same time last year as well. The reason I give 4 stars and not five. Maybe five once you update the app if I am using the lasso tool to move around my notes, why am I not able to move to next page without copy pasting and rather just dragging it. For example during vertical scrolling, I wanted to move my notes from page 4 to page 3 and I wasn’t able to move it directly but had to copy paste and that took me too long. Maybe, if the developers can create such a function then it would be great and would allow short amount of time between writing, moving my writing and writing once again. Thanks Developers, Appreciate your work Akash.Version: 5.0.20

Extremely helpfulI started university this year and I decided to bought an Ipad. This app is amazing, love it. Its so easy to write on PowerPoint, create notes... I suggest it to every student.Version: 5.4.0

Bug in latest version? In the latest version, when I am scrolling a file, it can some times (averagely 1 per 5 times of scrolling) scroll A LOT more than I expected, sometimes with only one finger and small force, It let me to scroll a 70 page doc from the very end to the very beginning. This never happened before, the finger detection seems having something went wrong...Version: 5.6.3

Absence of Recording Feature is a DealbreakerI’ve been using both Goodnotes and Notability for four years in college, and the only thing that’s prevented me from solely using Goodnotes is the fact that it lacks the recording feature which syncs audio to handwritten notes. This may not be relevant to all users, but as a college student who’s often jumping between long lectures all day it truly does make a difference. Everything else about Goodnotes is pretty much perfect, from customisability to functionality and efficiency, but the addition of the recording feature would be the ultimate deciding factor between this app and its competitor for many students and users. Many users, myself included, are finding it difficult to stick to only one of the two apps as their primary note-taking app due to this, but I’m certain that this feature would resolve many internal debates when comparing the features and choosing an app. I would genuinely love to make this my only note-taking app but the absence of the recording feature keeps holding me back. Please do consider implementing this feature to help make the choice easier for a large portion of digital note-takers..Version: 5.4.28

Screenshots in GoodNotes 4 were betterI’ve been using GoodNotes 4 for about a year and one of the features I really liked was screenshots. In goodnotes 5, the screenshots are resized to a much larger size than the original photo or text I am screenshotting. Could the screenshots be reverted back to a 1:1? If a person wanted to increase the size, it is easy to do so, however if they wanted the original size they need to estimate. Please change this back as it was really useful for screenshotting and taking parts of lecture and tutorials. Auto backup feature is needed as well..Version: 5.0.21

First App I BroughtSuper fun to use. Easy to download templates from other people. Have no issues with connecting to Apple Pencil. Highly recommended for anyone; student or otherwise..Version: 5.4.29

Great app! BUT ONE HUGE PROBLEM - PLEASE FIX :(I absolutely love goodnotes, takes a day or two to get the hang of with a wacom tablet, but it's changed the way I go about uni. I've tried both notability and goodnotes, i defintely prefer goodnotes BUT I'm having to use Notability at the moment, as goodnotes for some reason, when writing (espeiclaly when writing quickly whilst taking notes), sometimes just doesn't register the stylus, so when writing a word or a sentance, everything is working fine and then one of your letters wont have registerd, but the next will just fine, and when you go back to re write the letter it works just fine. This seems to happen randomly, when writing fast or slow, no matter what the angle or the spot on the drawing pad. I've tried every fix in the book but still nothing has helped! And I literlaly mean every trick in the book. Wo I've been forced to go back to notability, and then export my notes into goodnotes to file them into folders, as the file system is brilliant!!! PLEASE please please try to fix this! I love goodnotes and it's such a pain having to export from notabilty and then not being able to edit notes in the manner I'd like to later on :( I'm using a WACOM Intuos 4 Tablet with a Grip 2 pen. Other than this problem (which i hope isn't too common), would 1000% recommend this app!!! But please if any developers see this please look into it as I want to fully embrace goodnotes! :).Version: 5.4.41

Vertical scrolling issue in large documentsI annotate my textbook pdfs using goodnotes (1000+ pages) and often times while im scrolling (either up or down), it would skip multiple pages at once and make me lose track of my page number.Version: 5.6.0

Almost PerfectSince I started using this, I take far more notes than ever before. That alone has made it worth buying. If you want to take handwritten notes, get this app. There’s a few little niggles with it, and (for me) one big problem that mean I can’t give it 5 stars. The big problem? Both share and iCloud sync ONLY work on a WiFi connection. Neither feature works over a mobile signal. (I don’t have any such problems with any other app that I use, only with GoodNotes). The little niggles are to do with: - how the templates don’t quite fit on a 10” iPad (either too big or too small). If I want an A4 template, why not just auto-scale everything horizontally to fit? - the ink size needs more flexibility. Please give me something between the current smallest and middle sizes! - page management is too basic, and hidden behind a non-intuitive interface - why can I move ink around on a page, but I can’t move it to another page using the same tool? - it’s a bit of a battery killer None of the little niggles are deal-breakers. It would be awesome to see them sorted in v5. I’d be very disappointed if I had to do a paid upgrade to get these addressed..Version: 5.4.9

Great appI had the update to this version having previously paid for the old one, and I was scared because the old version was quite good. I was worried of finding a new unstable and unusable app, but instead I found out that this version is even better! I have a few suggestions anyway :) - when I am using the pen for writing, it would be handy to use my finger for erasing, without having to switch tool - when I use the handwriting recognition, I would love to have the possibility of replacing the selected text, not just copying it into the clipboard. Instead, I have to copy the text, re-select and delete my handwriting, add a text box and paste the text there..Version: 5.3.3

My favorite notes app with just one downsideThere are only two decent notes app for iPad out there: Notability and GoodNotes. Both have everything that a notes app should have but both have also have a single downside that is pretty much the only deciding factor for which one would prefer. GoodNotes can only sync to iCloud and does not sync to any other cloud service but Notability can sync to a multitude of cloud services. I chose GoodNotes over Notability because Notability is messy with its file system. In Notability, you cannot put folders within folders which is really annoying because it makes it impossible to sort out my notes by semester, subject, hw or lecture, etc. With GoodNotes I can sort out and organize my notes using folders within folders which is far more important than being able to have it automatically sync to Google Drive. If this app could sync to Google Drive, I would give it 5 stars. There are also a few very minor bugs too but they don’t really hinder me whatsoever so I’m not complaining. Great app! Make it possible to sync with Google Drive and this will by far be better than Notability!.Version: 5.3.3

Very niceI wish it voice recording and ability to import an entire folder instead of individual files..Version: 5.0.3

Best App Out There for Writing & Drawing with Apple Pencil ESPECIALLYI downloaded several different apps that were free for note taking and or drawing in notebooks, etc. After not being satisfied with any of them, I decided to pay for this one. It is so worth the price! You can easily organize notes and notebooks while customizing them for whatever you need! The Apple Pencil works flawlessly as if you are using real pen and paper. I use the 1st Edition Apple Pencil with my 2019 iPad. One of the best things about this app is the fact that you can set it so that it does not capture anything from your hand or palm resting on the screen and allows you to still use your fingers to zoom, scroll through, and navigate the app all while still connected to the Apple Pencil. Also, it can literally READ and SEARCH your own handwriting so you can find where you left a certain note on a page. I have found that it this feature is very accurate! You can also customize your notebook covers, create outlines for easy navigation throughout a notebook, and you can create folders to organize each notebook even further. My only suggestion to the developers is to make it easier to get different templates for pages/covers and also allow those pages to have more background colors than just yellow or white..Version: 5.1.1

Great program! No privacy protection.I’ve been using Good Notes 5 for 2 weeks now. Does everything I need it to do. Search and OCR are very good. One important feature is missing - notebook protection. I share my iPad occasionally. I have my diary as a notebook. I want to protect that one so that other people can’t see anything in it. Thus, individual notebook protection is very important to me. Nothing fancy, a simple PIN is Ok. Of course, TouchID or FaceID would be better but I appreciate the fact that may be more difficult. Would give it 5 stars if I could protect individual notebooks..Version: 5.4.0

Can ImproveIt is a great app but can improve if a template for organic chemistry could be added (hexagonal paper) + audio recording like notability! if those features were added GoodNotes would be the perfect app..Version: 5.6.34

Great App! Please add layering toolThis App is amazing for the Ipad’s with the apple pencil support. There are many things great about it but the reason I am writing this is just to mention a few glitches that can be very annoying whilst using the app. For example when you want to rub something out with the rubber tool sometimes if I have rubbed everything out some of the ”inc” stays there after I have taken the pen off and then soon after disappears. This is my only biggest issue and I would love it if the team could look into it 👀 and try and get it fixed! A big problem for me is that we are not able to choose what you want in front of what clearly, the text box is not going in-front of the picture box. It would be great to be able to see clearly what is going in front of what. Thank you so much for creating such a productive amazing helpful app that I can rely on and use every day! I definitely recommend it to future clients!.Version: 5.6.30

Fantastic Dive to Digital Scribbling but Leaves Your Security BehindThis is a fantastic application that is built for use on iOS, iPadOS and even macOS! What the developers are doing here are great, and I’m amazed (and very grateful) that they are conscious of the price of the product. GoodNotes feels like a great dive from a real paper notebook into a digital one, as you start by creating one notebook. This can be your “Biology 1” notebook or “Cryptography” notebook... maybe even your “Journal” notebook. You can have as many as you want. From there, you tap on a journal and write away. Need a new page? Swipe your finger almost like a magazine! It’s just incredibly intuitive. However, I have one MAJOR gripe with GoodNotes. You cannot lock your journals. If you have a diary or have a notebook with confidential information on work clients or schematics, you cannot secure them. You leave your privacy and security of your work at full risk if you share your iDevice. If I lend my iPad to a little one or to a friend who needed something to write on, my important documents are left unprotected. GoodNotes has a Feature Request Page, and Password Protection has 5110 votes, yet no sign of password protection as an upcoming feature..Version: 5.6.36

I don’t use anything else for notes anymoreThis app definitely requires a stylus. Even better an apple pen because of the wrist touch problem, but my $10 stylus works fine. As the title reads, I no longer lug around notebooks that end up getting crumpled or lost or thrown out, contributing to waste. I’ll admit, I didn’t purchase this to save trees, but it’s awesome that it does, now that I think of it. I never buy apps either; that’s one thing that kept me from finally pulling the plug on this, but I’m glad I did. I REALLY like being able to use the dotted line tool thingy that allows you to just move a whole paragraph or drawing or chunk out of something to another area AND/OR to just simply copy and paste it somewhere else. That is my fave feature probably. Oh, AND you can change it’s size. That’s so much easier than erasing your notes and starting all over again when something was written to big or too small and you wasted a whole page. So again, 4 stars just cause sometimes it glitches and moves super slow, but that’s just cuz I’m usually using it for hours on end, and also I wish we could change the pen style to brush or pencil...maybe you can and I just haven’t figured it out yet. If so, I apologize but yeah I love this app and don’t use pen or paper or any other inferior app. I have yet to find a better one than GoodNotes.Version: 5.4.36

Extremely practical as a PDF reader...I genuinely depend on this app. I have it on my Mac, my iPhone and ESPECIALLY on my iPad Pro. With the Apple pencil you can really get creative with how you use this app. I also have it connected to the cloud so it updates on all my devices. The UI on all devices is the same so it feel familiar throughout. You can create folders with subfolders; archiving your PDF's works great with this app. You can export your files easily and rename them on the fly. I don't really use the handwriting recognition feature even though I take many notes. You can also type within the app using any keyboard, such as a Magic Keyboard. Seriously, I use this app to run my business. It's simple yet full of wonderful features. *** Some things I would love added or enhanced - if the developers are reading this - (I use this app DAILY for EVERYTHING) is to make the eraser button able to resize or adjust. In other words, allow us to make it smaller of finer. *** If I can think of more I will reach out. Thank you for an awesome app..Version: 5.4.36

Love it, almost perfect. This app really makes my handwriting note taking seems like doing it in old ways but digital enough. Smooth writing and its features really lovable. Its easy to learn as well. However, there are several things that might need to offer for several users like me that will make this app worth 5 stars. Need to have option to hide the toolbar. Or use pallet instead of classic long toolbar. Or, need more option to place the toolbar to right or left side, instead only top or bottom. Need a dashed line option when drawing a line. Also need curve (convex or concave shapes) available. Both drawing feature are very useful for drawing graph..Version: 5.6.24

Pretty good, potential for so much more!I have been using this app for a few days now and as much as I love it there is a bit of frustration at a few things like not able to share/co-create and also view 2 pages on the screen. That being said, their is A LOT that I want to do that I am able to do. Definitely a good buy..Version: 5.0.29

Good Notes 5 ReviewThe app provides an efficiently-organized platform which is great for ones who are looking for somewhere to create their notes or even just store their drawings. It contains several features that influences those who perhaps are not well introduced with digital note taking and enhances a learners perspective. It is also a great source of encouragement and because of the many inspiring features, a huge color pallet, multiple fonts and all of the customizable features, inspires learners to branch out and explore which type of learner they really are. I have found my learning has really been enhanced and I am more encouraged to now write notes digitally through GoodNotes5:which compared to pen and paper, note taking is no longer tedious and boring. Thank you..Version: 5.6.30

A good improvement, but not perfect.Overall, I would say the reasons for upgrading are self-evident. The upgrade in visuals is very appealing and the ability to erase just highlighter or rotate imported pictures is super helpful. Although, I don’t see why there was a need to take away functionality that had already existed. The zoom function for handwriting has been changed, and now I can’t control how many lines are skipped when I hit return. Also, it would be nice see better integration with the IOS files app, so that you can move documents from other cloud services into your document more seamlessly. I hope, in the future, they can implement these features, because the added features don’t seem to warrant the price with what seems like it could have been a simple update to the previous app..Version: 5.0.1

Worthwhile upgradeThe good: new features added like continuous scroll (yay!), easier interface in terms of swapping pens, colours, etc. and I like the folders. The bad: slower, especially when loading pdf’s, had a couple of instances of text disappearing (only just-written letters and things, no huge amounts of text), and random file swapping mid-way through writing. Overall, if these bugs get ironed out in time I think the key features that might’ve set Notability higher than GoodNotes would have been addressed and it seems GoodNotes has it all now.Version: 5.0.3

AMAZING!!!I have been using good notes for about a year now and everything about this app i love. The writing experience is top notch it feels just like writing on paper with the right screen protector. It has helped me take amazing notes and brain storm and use it as a jotter at certain times with it’s quick note feature, oh and the hi lighting Is PERFECT, as someone who has used both GoodNotes and notability my choice is good notes 95% of the time the only reason that is not 100% is because of two features i think it is lacking. The first is being able to lock documents with a password or Face ID or really speaking any form of security because I keep my journal in there and I would feel a lot more secure if I were able to lock it but either way I’m sure that is something we will get soon and the last one is being able to record audio in the lesson. But yeah other than that would really recommend this is an outstanding app it helps my workflow so much and I’m sure it can help yours. It’s worth it!.Version: 5.6.32

Good but one bug is very annoying with version 5.3.2Was a 5 star but I have found that if you are using the squared paper with the highest magnification after a while the app will crash and once re-opening you will loose some of your notes that you have to re-write all together. This does get very tiring as once the app starts crashing on one page it will constantly crash if you continually put more notes on the page. I can understand that it must be due to memory usage and cpu usage but this should not be the case with a note taking app at all. Very poor experience with this bug i am running a brand new 2019 IPad too. Hopefully this gets fixed in the near future..Version: 5.3.20

Really love itJust what I was looking for in a note app. Not to complicated but not to simple either. I can create a individual page booklet and then fill it out as I go. Does great handwriting to text conversion, just wish I could have it replace the text where I wrote it without having to cut and paste. Other note apps do..Version: 5.3.20

Good not great...I love this app but there’s a few things that I think would make it even better and easier to use, especially for students -add a ruler feature -add an insert graph feature (this would be SO helpful) -be able to change the colour of folders (right now it is very hard to differentiate the different folders).Version: 5.6.46

Good not greatI use this app mainly for my private tutoring business alongside my own studies. It is great being able to import PDF documents, annotate as I like and then export either the annotated doc or the original in-annotated doc. There are a lot of good features of this app, I love the different colours, being able to set my own pre-set colours to make them quicker to find, and being able to change the pen. Being able to search my handwritten notes for key words is a great feature, as well as being able to search the original PDF document. There are lots of other excellent features that I won’t go into, and I am glad of some of the changes they made to GoodNotes 4, but conversely don’t like some of the changes which make the app harder to use than it’s predecessor. I would recommend this app for people looking to use PDF’s and similar to work, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a note-taking app for lectures, meetings, etc, hence why I have only given it four stars. I use this in conjunction with Notability, which is far more useful as a note-taking app, where GoodNotes is far more useful as an app to complete my work on. If GoodNotes were to incorporate features such as sound recording during note-taking it might become my one and only note-taking app, but until then I will have to flit between the two..Version: 5.3.11

Great App!Overall this app is amazing and very simple to use. I love how easy it is to organize my notes. But for an app that I have had to pay for I am surprised about how slow it is to sync from my computer to my iPad. Well, I am in class it can be a bit of a pain when I have to wait for long periods of time for them to sync. But this is the only problem I have faced yet. Overall great app!.Version: 5.6.16

Brilliant app, needs adjustmentsI use this app for nearly every aspect of uni and work and I'd be pretty lost without it, it jsut means I notice when some features could do with improvemet. Features I think could do with improvement: - Sub/Super script capability or an equation tool for maths notes - The text colour selection glitch and in general more support for text imput - Continuity with presents and pen sizes from ios to mac - Ability to print individual pages from ios/mac (if this is possible it doesn't work for me) The auto-shape tool - It would be useful to be able to move selected items from page to page rather than jsut cutting and pasting them - It would be useful to be able to make templates fit better, sometimes when I have made my own templates the sizes have fluctuated a lot even if I have set them to the same size (this is probably my error but it would be good if it was easier to do) - Ability to add recordings or vidoes to notes (I relaise its PDF based but this would be such a good feature for study) - I use a revision notes app alongside goodnotes, if good notes produced a compatible flashcard app/feature that would be amazing but also a long shot :) This probably seems like I hate the app but I use it every day and would be lost without it - the best app purchase I made at uni. I usually type my notes on good notes and use my apple pencil for studying and this allows for both..Version: 5.4.42

Very versatile and customisablePacked full of features and great for brainstorming, planning. Having plenty of options to make your own template notebook to fill with included ruled line page, grid, monthly planner, even music notes plus more. All are customisable in their page size which is amazing. The only thing I wished was that we could lock notebooks from others and also create folders or stacks to collapse collections of notebooks because it would run amazingly with its already visual interactive interface. Thanks GoodNotes! Hope to see the suggestions in the next update :).Version: 5.6.32

AwesomeI’m an attorney who is constantly jotting down notes on little pieces of paper or legal pads. Invariably, the notes get buried along with other notes and when the time comes for me to find the note, I always find myself shuffling through papers trying to find that one note. With GoodNotes, the ability to keep everything compartmentalized into individual folders and notebooks, and the ability to search by typing in key words has made keeping my notes organized so much easier. On top of that, I have been attempting to eliminate paper as much as possible. My main paper use up to this point has been my note taking. Now that I can jot notes down on my ipad, not only does it eliminate my need for as much paper. My only suggestion would be to allow for automatic backups to external hard drives. I keep most of my files on a large external hard drive and due to firewalls at the courthouse, I cannot back up my files to the cloud. If there could be an addition for an automatic backup to external devices, the app would be 100% perfect in my book. Still worthy of five stars though..Version: 5.6.32

FantasticI thought it was going to be too hard to swap from the previous Good Notes that I’d been using for a long time. Turns out that being in a position where I had to use this upgrade, it was simple, and very easy to work out. I have used it a lot for a week, and absolutely love it. Thank you..Version: 5.4.17

It keeps getting better.Over the last few years I have jumped between GoodNotes, NoteShelf and real note books. Until now. I think this new version of GoodNotes, especially when the new version rolls out for the Mac, is just about spot on. The writing isn’t quite as smooth as one or two other apps I have used on the iPad Pro but it’s acceptable. The feature set is getting better all the time and having the tabs at the top combined with a quick drop down list and a full document library view, it has so many excellent user friendly features. So why not 5 stars? It’s almost perfect but few things in life are truly perfect. There’s always room for improvement. Like wouldn’t it be great to be able to hide the tool bar while writing if we wanted to? I’d also like to have smoother writing (Noteshelf and even Microsoft’s OneDrive app write smoother). I’d also like to be able to customise the toolset to have what I regularly use in the order I want them (I never use shapes, photos or camera so I’d love to replace those icons with more quick access pen colours, for example). So, for now, it’s a 4. Well, maybe a 4.5 really but that’s not an option in this App Store, unfortunately. 😀.Version: 5.0.32

Good notes 4 performs better than Good notes 5I am writing this review to help the developers and potential buyers. First I’m providing this review in March 2019. Things may change later so if you are reading this review you should keep the date and version number in mind. 5.0.20. We are a large builder which use Blue beam, Procore, “go to meeting” and other related industry software. We found that Good notes 4 was simply the best vehicle for note taking and plan markups available. It truly was a “five star app”. We could be on a “go to meeting” with 15 consultants on a conference call and annotate plans instantly. (What I mean is hand write changes on the pdf plans to give direction. Not edit DWG drawings.) It was fast easy and simple. Superior to other products out there, even the industry specific ones. Now, with Good notes 5 the layout and folder structure have been improved. But, there is a big problem. If we open a set of plans and try to zoom in, the plans pixelate. Plus take an in ordinate amount of time to gain focus. Thus, most of us have stopped using this program. I have Good notes 4 and have gone back to it. I. Don’t know. If the developer is aware or working on a fix but it was a great program. If the developer is aware hope you can fix. I will check the App Store for updates. Will mark as 2.5 stars and revise rating if able to remedy problem. Good luck..Version: 5.0.20

Astonishingly good appIt’s cliche at this point to say this, but I never leave reviews for apps. Who has the time? However this app is so good, I simply had to. I’m returning to school through an online university, and after just a few days was getting overwhelmed with paper notes. I had a 12.9” iPad Pro already and decided to check out some note taking apps. (Disclaimer: this is the first and only one I have tried, so others might be better, tho I don’t see how!) After a couple weeks I am thoroughly in love with GoodNotes 5. I’d gladly have paid a much higher price for this app. I love having folders for each class, with notebooks within for each chapter of the textbook/material. The handwriting performance is flawless and lag free. Being able to insert screen captures from my MacBook is awesome for complex tables I don’t want to write out by hand. It’s backed up to the cloud so I can view the notes on my phone while standing in line somewhere with a few minutes to spare. And on and on. I simply cannot recommend this app enough. It’s just fantastic..Version: 5.6.48

Good appFlash cards needs more work, it doesn’t work on iPhone, and it should shuffle the cards so it’s not in the same order every time A aligning guide would be helpful Clickable links to other pages would make it so much easier to use.Version: 5.6.26

Best for note takingThe app is really good when it comes to note taking and staying organised. However, it would be nice if we could have an audio recording feature as well. It makes it a lot easier to have the recording in the same place as the notes (similar to notability). I think it will be nice to have different colours for folders as well to make the documents more organised. But overall, favourite note taking app..Version: 5.6.46

Good app but I can’t get the refundLots of new features updated. However I purchased it yesterday and found there is an upgrade bundle today. When I want to get a refund Apple tells me that this item is not eligible for refund. I want a reason for it..Version: 5.0.1

Good...improvements still neededI love GoodNotes, and use it every day for my university work. While there are many updates that I appreciate in GoodNotes 5, there are also some elements of the previous version which I like better Firstly, I miss the way the zoom window worked on version 4. The toolbar at the top of the zoom window (where you find the indent/advance buttons) used to have the undo/redo buttons, the ability to switch between pen colours and also the eraser. Having all the tools in one place made for a much smoother writing experience when using the zoom window function. I could write faster, and generally write uninterrupted. Please bring these features back. Template from photo library I know that you can easily import paper and cover templates from your cloud storage...but in the previous version, I could also import backgrounds from the Photos app. Please bring this back, as the ability to do this is a huge convenience Gesture controls I was really hoping to get some gesture controls in this update. Lots of similar apps allow you to tap with two fingers to undo, for example, and I think that GoodNotes would really benefit from this..Version: 5.0.1

Nearly Great!Love what this application does for note-taking. A few things that are missing in my opinion, are: -The option to lock notebooks or notes. -A Goodnotes Store to download high quality templates for planners and what not. -A continuous page option, or at least a quicker way to move between pages, always seems to be slow and laggy. -Adding a Voice Recording Option would kill off loosing customers to Notability. -A tab option of storing notes for better visibility when quickly looking at notes. Love your work and can’t wait to see more improvements in the future. Hope some of these points above are useful in the future development. Cheers..Version: 5.5.6

GreatWanted to have one of those cool looking written notes but didnt want to spend 500 on an ipad, so downloaded this on my mac to create those cool notes and it works pretty good.Version: 5.6.15

RecommendationsI wish they have post it function Also double slides in a screen. Can zoom in and out when im looking at the whole notes.Version: 5.0.25

Best handwriting note app I have usedI started using an ipad full time in 2017 for fieldwork - once the Apple Notes app acquired a scaleable ruler with degrees readout. By then I had already played with quite a few different note taking apps, some free, some paid for, before I settled on one (not Goodnotes). Spring forward to 2019 and I had started noticing that the app I was using was becomoing more and more glitchy over time and was not seemingly able to keep up with the evolution of IOS. I even (gasp...) lost some data now and again - though not too much. I started doing some research again on what note taking apps were best to use. I finally chose Goodnotes 5 and have been exceptionally happy I did. After using it over winter here are some of the reasons why I have recommended it to both my son for university and coworkers... 1) Stability. So far Goodnotes 5 has been rock-solid in my use. It has never ever crashed and I have never ever lost data (knock on wood). It also does not glitch when auto saving like other programs. 2) Ability to open multiple tabs. When I am doing fieldwork I have multiple places where I have to enter data. This is a trivial thing to accomplish in a paper field note book with tabs... but not so easy with a tablet. Goodnotes 5 handles multiple tabs seamlessly and elegantly. 3) PDF Handling. It works really well handling PDFs - especially when incorporating an existing PDF into an existing document. One can selecta PDF and open as a stand alone document, or elect to havwe it append to the next page of whichever Goodnotes document you have open. This is a great boon, especially for processing and collating the mountains of health and safety paperwork we have to deal with these days... 4) Easy incorporation of images into the notebook. Many programs do this ok, and Good notes also does it just fine as well. 5) The goldilocks level of writing options. The program I went to has a wonderful plethora of pen nib options and is quite lovely to work with and use - except for the crashing part. Goodnotes has a more limited colour palatte, but it is easy to use, and facilitates quick switching between nib types and colours. This is abotu as close as you can get to wrting on paper wiht one of those Bic multi colour selection pens. 6) Just an overall level of clean, simple, elegant UI that is easy to navigate and understand. It shows that the Goodnotes team has definitley tried to meld the best of paper and tablet together to make a solid, ease to use product. It does not have the immediacy of pencil and paper, but it is as close as I have seen so far, whilst also leveraging the power of a tablet..Version: 5.4.29

Love it, but a couple concernsLove the app, convenient for college and holds a lot of storage, I wish moving around pages could be easier. And the ball pen seems too stiff, fountain pen is a little awkward to use, and the brush pen is fine, but again the pens are something I need to get used to. I wish the eraser marks could have an option to be smaller, and not erase a whole line but exactly what my pen touches. So pens are not as fluid as it could be and may make your handwriting either better or worse. Zoom ins are great and resizing also never pixelates my writing, which I LOVE. I never write reviews, so I hope the concerns I listed will be considered and that this review helps those deciding whether or not to use the app. I wish I could download it to my computer without paying extra so that I can see both on my iPad and computer. For an app meant for taking and saving notes, it is an easy and great app to use, but pens are hard to get used to. If you are a high school student, digital note taking is okay, but it honestly isn’t necessary and teachers and classmates usually feel weird about it. In university this app is perfect since in my classes there is a lack of space for desks and so many places to walk to so the portability of a tablet is more useful then (this app also allows for split screen which is convenient).Version: 5.3.3

Love it; would appreciate a few changesI love Goodnotes, it’s so useful for my lecture note writing for university, but there are a few things that would make it even better. - Highlighter Options: to be able to choose if you lift the Apple pencil off the page, it won’t overlap, this could be an on/off feature, as sometimes the pencil doesn’t lift but the iPad thinks it has, snd my whole diagram needs to be recoloured. - More Erasing Options: I’d love a option where you can choose just to erase pen (like there is for highlighter) as sometimes it’s the pen I need erased not everything else. Also erasing not in increments and slow erasing like on drawing applications. - Filing: Sometimes I wish I could sort out the folders/notebooks how I please, not in date or name order..Version: 5.4.35

Wonderful app, but...Something happened in the latest update that means we are now not able to export a selection of documents as a zip file. This used to be one of the key ways in which I used to send the work done on this app, sonI am really annoyed by the change. Ideally, after selecting a few documents to export we should be able to choose to send them as a zip file or a collection of single documents in an email. My other issue since migrating from GD4 is that the smooth geometrical lines options used to work a lote better in GD4. Apart from this (quite important) things to fix, it is a wonderful app that I use all the time. Please fix it!.Version: 5.4.20

Note Taking in Med SchoolI’m very satisfied with the performance of GoodNotes, which has proven very versatile so far. I don’t regret having spent time to decide which app I was going to buy, this one or Notability..Version: 5.4.19

Flashcards are a game changer!!!I hate Anki because it’s ugly and I like to write. Notability doesn’t have this. I love how intuitive the flashcards are. Really does help motivate me for active recall..Version: 5.6.54

Needs to be more stable. Still far from this.I love this app In general e.g. writing experience, but have had a few things that bother me so much. It crashes every time I try to select a word and press on ‘define’ or ‘strike’ or ‘highlight’ also now the lasso tool stopped working. It still does not support auto save to cloud service other than iCloud. This version 5 has been now around for a year almost and it is still so unreliable. I cannot believe it is taking them such a long time to make it stable. It is supposed to be th encumber 1 note taking app on the store.. I have not used 4 but from the reviews it sounds like 4 was a lot better. However I do like the ability to have a selection of customised colours displayed on the top bar..Version: 5.3.12

Immediately stopped using because google drive sync is essential for meIdk why they didn’t add this feature (it was available in version). If you use google drive and have auto backup setup in GoodNotes 4 DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON UPGRADING!.Version: 5.0.3

Good app but...Goodnotes is a good app (hence the name) with many features you can use easily as a student etc. From a range of colours in the palette to a handy lasso tool to help with last minute mistakes. I would recommend this as it has a nice shapes feature and a useful stylus and palm rejection where you will be able to lean on your iPad without causing marks. However, using the Apple Pencil on this is a terrible thing. The app is really rough with writing and has no fluidity at all. The ink writing is too too accurate in a bad way in which all your letters are not from your paper writing. I decided to finally go paperless until I stumbled upon this issue. In my and others’ opinions, my handwriting is immaculate on paper however when I try writing in the app, the roughness causes it to be inconsistent and absolutely ugly. There’s other apps that have nice fluidity and consistent writing like nebo..Version: 5.4.17

Very good note taking app for iPad and Apple PencilI am very happy with GoodNotes and prefer it to many other note taking apps on the market. It is fantastic when using Apple Pencil and I like that you can have individual notebooks that can be stored within folders, similar to that of any other file system. A feature that I would like to see implemented is that the file system be completely integrated with iCloud files. I understand that it works with iCloud, so that any notes saved can be accessed by any other GoodNotes app but I would also like to be able to access them directly from files. In addition, another feature I’d like to see is being able to scroll a page up past the bottom of the page, so that when using Apple Pencil and writing at the bottom of a page, my hand isn’t half hanging off of the iPad. These are just minimal features but would be nice to see but overall a fantastic app and will be continuing to use for the foreseeable future..Version: 5.6.21

Clean but please fix writing glitchesThe app itself is very pleasant to use and look at. I don’t find a problem with most of the functions except one thing. I use an apple pencil on goodnotes 5. When i write notes on a blank page there is no glitches or when zoomed but when I try to write on PDFs to annotate, letters i have just written disappear and I need to rewrite it again. Please please prioritize and fix this glitch!.Version: 5.0.29

Good app! But improvements are possibleI love this note taking app to use with an Apple Pencil, has many good details such as shapes and highlighting goes on in straight lines and behind the text. However! I would love it if it would be possible to change the template of multiple pages at once, instead of having to go one by one to each page to change templates. I work with this app a lot to then do short presentations to my university tutors or group assessment colleges. I like to write on lined paper but like to present on plain paper. So I have to go page by page to change templates, I wish I could simply select all the pages and change the templates at once..Version: 5.4.38

Love it so much! When I started university last year I wanted to try going fully digital for note-taking. I’ve been using my laptop and OneNote for my first year and I struggled to take notes effectively. I didn’t absorb what I was writing and I missed being able to jot things down direct to the study material, especially my working outs for maths questions. This year I decided to try one last attempt to stay digital so I purchased a stylus for my iPad and went ahead on purchasing this app. I can honestly say this has changed my life and I can’t believe I went so long without it. I can do everything I could do on paper but 100 times better. I would highly recommend downloading this app if you prefer to write and want a paper-free life..Version: 5.4.22

Need handwriting conversion and cloud backup featuresI used to use GoodNotes 4 and was quite satisfied with it, hence I updated to the 5th version. But the cloud synchronization, which was there in the 4th version, is gone. I knew you already noted on your website, but I just don’t under stand why this has not been fixed after months went by. Also, I think it would be nice to have an in-text handwriting to text conversion feature. Your current conversion can only recognize handwriting to text, but if I want to replace the handwriting to typed text, I will have to manually copy the converted text and then paste it in the documents. After that, I also have to erase the handwritten text. The whole process is quite tedious. It might be better to have a feature to automate these actions, which your competitor Notability has already implemented a long time ago. Albeit these drawbacks, I was quite happy with 4th version. Thus I am willing to give 4 stars as an encouragement to the development team. But I really hope these bugs and features can be fixed and added sooner. This could at least make me not feel fooled to pay for the upgrade..Version: 5.3.11

All excellent EXCEPT....When I downloaded 100++ academic papers or a bunch of books from Dropbox to read and annotate on this app, it would save the same number of copies elsewhere depending on my choice (Dropbox, iCloud, etc.), rather than changing the original copies on the spot. This is undesirable because I want the papers modified using Goodnotes to be synced back to Dropbox imstead of generating new copies. It should work the same way as with Doument Readdle, where I just access Dropbox, open the file, read and annotate it, and see the file in Dropbox refect such changes..Version: 5.4.28

Makes Doing Work a Pleasure!Thank you GoodNotes! Since I’m an old person of 35 years - it took a few college student vlogs and some practice before I could really get to appreciate all that this app can do...but that little bit of time was SO WORTH IT! Your app rocks. YOU HAVE BROUGHT JOY BACK INTO MY WORK LIFE! Seriously though, I’m enthusiastic but not sarcastic on this point. I work with boring documents/sit in LONG meetings (that go on for days on end) and have to take copious notes...and thanks to GoodNotes I can be efficient&creative while having fun highlighting my documents with rainbows of any colour I like, and taking notes that are both fun to write&read afterwards, as well as pack maximum info/images into a single page...plus, my past life of piles of notepads and sticky notes has been left in the dust where it belongs. THANK you for saving my shoulder from breaking off with a stupid/heavy briefcase, and for making me smile while I create the most beautiful notes I’ve ever taken of some of the most boring subjects I’ve ever had to keep awake and pay attention too. GoodNotes has probably played a significant role in my ability to excel at my job (and maintaining my sanity whiles getting it done). Cheers!.Version: 5.0.32

My Daily DriverAfter using a few other notes apps that take handwriting as the primary input, I have settled into GoodNotes as my notes app of choice. I use it for everything. I’ve always found that I have better recall when I write something as opposed to when I type. It’s always been that way. For years I tried using notes apps like Evernote, Apple Notes, Notability, OneNote, etc. to try and ‘force’ myself into typing out notes, journal entries, reference and so on. It never stuck. And I mean, it lasted maybe a day or two. GoodNotes has been my savior in that I actually want to journal again, to write down information when I’m on the phone, keeping reference notebooks. I like that GoodNotes tries to keep the ‘feeling’ of having physical notebooks but the organizational structure of folders. It’s a great app and I highly recommend this for anyone who is a prodigious notebook user. My only nitpick is I would love it if I could create ‘hotspots’ within my notes to reference pages in other notebooks. This may just be wishful thinking, but it’s something I would appreciate..Version: 5.4.8

Advice to improve for mac versionI hope I can use goodnote mac version to read and edit A4 pdf document. I can't enlarge the page if the size is A4, because my laptop doesn't have touch screen..Version: 5.4.23

CANT LIVE WITHOUT!!!I never knew how much I needed this app until I bought it. Don’t tell the developers but it is worth much more than they’re charging. I do EVERYTHING in this program. I have numerous notebooks for personal use, my business, my day job and for the classes I am taking. I also have a journal and a planner that I imported from an Etsy purchase. I love that I can make notebooks for everything, I can easily move things around, I can import PDF’s right into the notebook, I can insert graphs/pictures/etc from my digital texts books or a website, I can also upload a website right into the notebook as well. I am a very visual person so being able to import these things and then mark them up is amazing! I love that I can highlight and use different colors as well. The variety of notebook covers and options for page formats is so nice as well. I also absolutely freaking love that I can “search” my notebooks, it even searches my messy handwriting. This option saves me so much time from having to look back through all my notes to find mentioned of 1 thing. Seriously.... get this app, its literally my life!.Version: 5.4.29

Love being paper freeI’ve been using this app for years, & recently upgraded to 5. There’s a lot of additional functionality, with more powerful tools, new objects, & way better templates. The only thing I miss is the way the app opens. Previously when opening the app it presented the view I left it int when closing the app. Now every time I start the app it opens to my folder list. I have a loootttt of notebooks, and remembering which one I was last using is sometimes difficult. Maybe I’m just not as organized as I should be, but it’s just annoying that every time I open the app I have to search through my folders & then my notebooks to get to the one I was in the middle of using. I open one notebook only to find that the page I’m looking for is actually in another one. Many of my notebooks hold similar data, but I keep the in separate books for specific reasons. I’d just rather not have to search every time I start, especially when I’m already used to picking up right where I left off with GN4. That minor thing aside, I love this app worthy of all 5 stars, & the upgrade to 5 was a great improvement. The developers seem to really pay attention to what additional functionality could be useful as the way we work evolves. So I’m always looking forward to the next version to see what new stuff I’ll get!.Version: 5.3.17

Complicated iCloud Syncing SettingsI recently confronted a syncing issue on both my Mac and iPhone. I just downloaded the apps on my Mac and iPhone today, since I normally use iPad for notes only. However, the documents are only partially synced to my Mac and iPhone (some documents were synced and some were not). I’ve tried to diagnose and fix the problem by myself, such as turn off and back on the iCloud sync in Apple ID Settings on all 3 devices, and restart the laptop to activate the new settings. But all these operations didn’t help to solve the problem. I logged into my iCloud Drive which doesn’t have the GoodNote folder in it, and I think this may be the root cause of the problem, but it doesn’t explain why some documents were synced. After a few hours, I noticed that in the app Settings, there’s another iCloud Settings > Use iCloud inside of the app, and then I found the problem: it was turned off on my iPad. Although the issue was solved, but I don’t quite understand what’s this setting for? Normally, users want to manage iCloud settings at one place, but not in each app. If I enabled iCloud for the app already in the system settings, but it was turned off inside of the app, then what’s the point of this setting? So, I would suggest you removing this setting inside of the app, and using the general iCloud setting should be more reasonable..Version: 5.4.36

Loss of Wacom supportI love GoodNotes 4, but didn’t realise 5 doesn’t support smart styluses other than the Apple Pencil until after purchasing. This is a major step backwards, as while the new features are swish, I rely on using the undo button on my Wacom bamboo fineline way too much to be able to use the new version. Let’s hope this gets fixed soon, as then the app would be 5 stars.....Version: 5.0.3

不错不错.Version: 5.4.27

Best note taking application ever!I started off using Goodnotes4, but due to the restriction of horizontal page flicking, I moved to Notability instead. Although I enjoyed notability I didn't have the option to create page outlines in my notes which made it hard to section my notes and look for specific topics. I switched back to goodnotes knowing it now allows vertical scrolling and I am in love! The ease of writing also feels more natural than notability and also the option to customise book covers! I also love the filing and organisation of Goodnotes a lot better than Notability. An extra bonus is with the Macbook app, I can also now type notes into the same notebook and have all my notes in one synced spot. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!.Version: 5.6.21

Fantastic appThis app is extremely functional and easy to use and understand. I love the automatic switch back feature from the eraser tool as it saves me so much time when taking notes on a time limit. There’s only one tool that stopped me from giving it five stars and it’s more of a feature request than anything: THE HIGHLIGHTER. When using dark paper, the highlight option basically becomes useless. As soon as I highlight, it fades into black and into the background so I’m unable to tell what colour it even is. I understand that this makes it seem more realistic in a sense, however I would really appreciate being able to see the highlighter just like it slows on white paper. The highlighter options on black paper are very grim and don’t show up as bright as pen colors do. True highlighter colors showing up on black paper would be an awesome addition I feel, and hopefully not too difficult a feature to implement! If so then an adjustable opacityfor the highlighter tool on dark paper will do just as great. Also Highlighting which does not change color of text written with pen would be good. When you highlight over writing it changes the original colour which can be very annoying at times. It would make this app the undisputed king of note taking in my honest opinion. Please let me know if this can be done..Version: 5.4.28

Great but with feature requests (see below!)I recently got an iPad and was researching about both goodnotes and notability and decided to go with goodnotes since i could get it ipad and phone for one price which was cheaper than notability. however, i’ve rated it 4 stars as there a couple features i wish was on goodnotes which could make it more better and more appealing to users after they buy it. 1) split screen view goodnotes did tweet that they were waiting for ios 13 to do this i think so i know that’s definitely coming which is good. 2) recordings one of the things that makes me keep looking at notability is the recording feature. as i am a uni student it is a great feature that i could have when attending my lectures. 3) macOS version of goodnotes i’m aware they have the macOS version in the US but i don’t know why they wouldn’t for the UK. this is another thing that makes me look at notability as it has all three versions available to me. overall, as a student it has great features for me and it didn’t take that long to get used to and i feel very in control of my notes and happy going back over them than i did before using a physical notebook. however if goodnotes sees this i hope they consider the 3 requested features i have listed..Version: 5.1

It’s pretty much there!Goodnotes 5 is the ultimate writing experience fir anyone who wants to take handwritten nots on their iPad. The pencil feels natural when writing and is almost as good as the writing experience from the Apple “Notes” app. Goodnotes 5 comes with many templates includeinhg cornell, music staves, lines paper and many more However there is only one problem... The typing experience. Its quite bad. There isn’t a way to type as you wouldn on a normal document like i.e a word file. You can only type with textboxes which at first I thought was great but as someone who uses a mix of typing and writing, I can honestly say that if you want to type then go for something else like Notability. I absolutely love this app which is why I still I use it however it could be a lot better..Version: 5.3.11

AmazingI use this app everyday for study, reading documents, notes for projects or books I'm reading. It's amazing. Only thing missing is some kind of built in protractor or ruler..Version: 5.6.15

Excellent app for the Apple PencilI got the Apple Pencil for Christmas and I wasn’t sure which app to use for note taking I looked in the App Store and downloaded a few free apps ( some with in app purchases) and looked on you tube to see what others were saying about the paid apps and even though I had to pay for this one it had everything I needed. It would be good if it had voice recording but other than that it’s great. I wrote the in 2019 but didn’t post it - this app has been my go to app for everything during 20 I tell people it is the extension of my brain. I love it can’t recommend it more highly.Version: 5.6.30

A lot to love but not as stable as 4All in all this is a great app, though I find it not as stable as version four, which I was running on my ancient iPad and also my very new iPad. Version five wigs out occasionally and won’t let me write anything, it also occasionally just shuts down, which is happening right now each time I try to export the PDF. Hopefully it will correct itself, otherwise I’ll have to go back to version four, because I need those PDFs to send to my clients..Version: 5.1.4

GoodNotes 5 is Improving SignificantlySince mid-January, Goodnotes 5 have been getting updates consistently. Now it is almost flawless. Goodnotes 5 is definitely better than Goodnotes 4 --> The management of files is the biggest winner for me. Now I can organize my files depending on projects or topics using the unlimited multiple folder structures. Now I use it exclusively, whereas before I was using Notability and Goodnotes 4 depending on my goals. If I was reviewing engineering plans (page size: 22"x34"), sketches (page size: not letter sized), or reviewing large files with bookmarks, then I was using Goodnotes 4. If I wanted a quick and short note (less than 5 pages), then I was using Notability due to the vertical scrolling; but Goodnotes 5 supports this feature now. Goodnotes 5 really shines with the bookmarks, supporting different page sizes, vertical scrolling, and now the management of files. Still waiting: I"m looking forward to get Goodnotes 5 on my Mac and eventually seeing two notes at the same time when using my iPad. The latter is less of an inconvenience for me because I'm usually working with my Mac and iPad at the same time. Goodnotes 5 on my Mac is a must..Version: 5.0.7

Amazing! It’s the best app to transition from having a physical notebook to a digital one. Offers lots of options with the pen, highlighter and eraser. I was able to open a ppt and pdf file to write my notes on. This is one of the reasons why I bought an Ipad for uni and Goodnotes was the best $14 I spent on for my Ipad! Also has different templates for the paper style. I’ve only used it for 4 hours since buying and I am totally amazed! Perfect with my apple pencil too! I tried writing with my hand and it wasn’t too bad as well..Version: 5.2

Two reasons to like GoodNote, and one complaintI use pdf apps almost every day on my iPad to both read, review, and mark-up technical papers, and to present college lectures. I use pdf apps on my mac for similar purposes. Having experimented with almost every pdf app available for iOS, I am excited about two features in GoodNote that have made it my primary pdf app. (1) Goodnote has an excellent laser pointer mode with delayed trails, that make if an excellent choise for giving technical presentations from pdf slides. It is easy to flip back and forth between laser pointer mode and mark-up mode. (2) Goodnote allows the iPad screen to be split into two sides, showing the same document on both sides of the screen. This is extremely useful when reviewing technical documents because one half can be used to read the document, and the other half can be used to refer to equations, citations, tables, etc., located on other pages of the document. To my knowledge GoodNote is currently the only app with these two features. The complaint: documents are synced between iOS and OSX using iCloud, but not stored in an iCloud folder (or any other folder as far as I can tell). Documents can only be viewed and accessed within the GoodNote app. There is no integration with Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc..Version: 5.6.46

To Goodnotes from NotabilityI love GoodNotes and I love Notability. I’ve moved from using Notability every day for a year, to... GoodNotes!? I can’t really believe I’m saying this, but I love GoodNotes. It’s got so many practical things that make everyday use of this intensively for journaling and notes so much better especially if your a mind mapper. I can’t list them. It’s not perfect. There are little things that I miss from Notability. Eg smooth scroll rather than page by page scroll. And GoodNotes can slow down a bit when you create masses of pages. But it wins in so many ways else. I love how you can select images with you text and move it. You can’t with Notability. I love the flexible eraser tool where you can delete whole lines or just pixels. The list goes on. Buy it..Version: 5.0.29

Important for my workUse it all the time for my meetings. Use it for quick ideas..Version: 5.6.52

Amazing AppSimple and elegant design. Would be nice if more than 3 pen colours could be accessed from the toolbar. And the double tap on the pen could be used to change ink colours rather than the tool. Templates are nice and simple, though It would be great if you could make your own templates that include a picture. I have to manually add a graph picture in each page to sketch graphs. It would be great it the app had an option to add it automatically or become a new template. App saves the size of the picture so it’s the same size on each page which is nice. Overall best note app I’ve used..Version: 5.1.5

A Great UpgradeUpgraded from GoodNotes 4. I read the other reviews before updating and noticed someone said their Apple Pencil lags. I haven’t had any issues with this app. The file organizer makes things better. The biggest improvement for me is having the pages scroll vertically instead of horizontally. I like being able to choose the type of pen and the fact that the hi lighter can automatically hi light a perfect horizontal line. The look is updated and more modern. The search function works well. I’ve had no issues and will definitely be using this over GoodNotes 4. I like that they added more paper styles but still no engineering paper unfortunately. That being said, there still are some features from OneNote that I would like to see. When importing photos, OneNote allows you to define the 4 corners you want, and it will straighten the image which is useful if you took a picture from an angle. OneNote then can turn the photo into black and white with increased contrast similar to a PDF scanning app. OneNote is also a bit better at adding typed text and gives a lot of options similar to Word, whereas GoodNotes is more basic..Version: 5.0.2

Great appFor me, I find this better than notability for both my notes while studying online and for working on a PDF. From the PDF point of view it’s the best app I’ve tried so far. If you need audio while taking notes then consider notability. I don’t believe you can record audio with GoodNotes. It’s not something I currently need. If you have a pdf that you maybe partly wrote notes on in Apple’s Files app then you’ll need this and not Notability. GoodNotes imported the PDF with all my annotations and allowed me to continue editing in a much cleaner and more functional way. Notability for some reason loses those annotations from Apple Files. This also has excellent features for note taking and making. The highlighter is great with an auto straightening function. Good zoom level for getting those notes on the margin. Good shape tool. I think Notability is slight better at the shape drawing. This is better if you’re importing pictures too. It just manages the document and the positioning of things better. I find this has a much better file system than notability that’s much cleaner and easier to organise into folders and books, and better handwriting recognition when searching for a file..Version: 5.4.29

My favourite Notes taking appAfter long research back when I've purchased this app - I can say it suites my needs the best, rich in features, UI is precise and convenient. I honestly stopped using paper for my nots after getting myself an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. Easy to manage, share, search, modify. And now it is also available on the PC which is an amazing feature when you want to access your notes and drawings. Hesitating between 5 and 4 stars just because sync between the two doesn't feel so seamless, the other day I opened the app on my computer and the notes that I've taken days ago weren't there, until I opened iPad, and switched to another document & back. Otherwise it is a perfect note taking choice in my personal experience and opinion..Version: 5.6.26

Great appHi, Great app been using it for years... It’s my most used app as I use it for almost anything I use to use paper for. However... how do I give feedback on latest version. It’s excellent but I have a couple of small issues I hope you can address. 1. When pasting text it won’t let me change the font colour. 2. Whenever you tap on text on iPad Pro it brings up the keyboard. Then you can’t see the text if it’s low on the page (landscape and split screen). Hope these little things can be rectified easily and quickly..Version: 5.0.13

Awesome app, truly a big fanSo, never really wrote a review before (lazy I know), but this app deserves it. I’ve been recommending it to all my iPad friends (at least 4) and they’ve not turned back since. The transition between version 4 to 5 was smooth, a coupe glitch with the new iOS but it was quickly fixed. I had other apps for different things when I started my first iPad Pro. Now, all my daily work is in this app, pdf editing , sketching, writing. Pretty much my ‘go to’ when I need to jot down something. Developers if you’re reading this, could you please.... like PLEASE introduce an option for dotted line soon. I’ve been drawing a solid line and erase some to make it appears like dotted line ......Version: 5.3.11

This app is perfect, 100% recommendThis app is absolutely amazing for taking down notes. I love how easy it is to use. Features like searching and it even recognising your own handwriting are amazing. It’s great how you can make your own notebooks, customise them as you want or even quickly make notes on existing PDF documents, a life saver It would be amazing if a feature could be developed that could collate all of the things you have highlighted (like as a screenshot of each segment) to quickly make revision notes I haven’t really seen much in the sense of the revision cards as I can’t find it when searching under the more templates function but I’m excited to see it work and slowly improve.Version: 5.6.30

So far I am enjoying paperless lifeGoodnote allows me to have paperless life with iPad Air and apple Pencil. Happy to have documents could be shared with other apps and other people so easily..Version: 5.4.9

Must HaveWhile working full time and attending college in the evenings this has app has been a life saver for me. The ease with which I can trade over to all my devices means that while I am taking handwritten notes during lectures, I can access my notes on my computer or my phone while I dont have my iPad with me. The ability to take handwritten notes (as much as I usually prefer to go digital) actually helps the information stick in my brain better and I read through my own handwritting with more intentionality than type so promising for retaining the information ready for exams in the future! Wouldnt be without it. Well worth the money..Version: 5.6.26

Wonderful easy to use appEasy to use with an intuitive design, reliable and regularly updated. Developers listen to users’ feedback and if enough users support changes they are implemented. I use it to take study notes for university, medical research, recipes, receipts and other personal information and best of all it is not stored on someone else’s server. I can combine handwritten notes, screen shots, PDF handouts, pictures etc into a single journal where I can make further handwritten or typed annotations and drawings. Notes synchronize quickly between devices through iCloud. I have never experienced any issues with synchronizing or the software. I have tried a number of other notes apps and have found GoodNotes the best and easiest to use..Version: 5.4.14

Awsome AppLove this App, use it all the time! Don't hesitate to buy it..Version: 5.6.16

My Favorite App: Best Replacement for a NotebookI'd been searching for a replacement for a notebook for a long time before I found GoodNotes, paying for several apps that didn't deliver or have the intuitive controls of a pen and paper. GoodNotes delivers. I use it for EVERYTHING for work and my home life. It's my personal budget planner, my personal calendar, my lesson plan book, my gradebook, my PDF annotater...everything! It's replaced basically all paper in my life. As a teacher, I could not be more thrilled with this app's functionality. The ability to create different notebooks with specific templates (and upload your own) allows it to function as so many different things! As a teacher, I'm a big binder person so I can keep related notebooks and files near each other. With the ability to open new notebooks in tabs within the app, I can keep these files close at hand and jump between them--it's kind of like a big digital binder that stays organized and doesn't get overwhelming with the number of files. The organization of the app and the way you can navigate through it by flipping the pages like you would a notebook makes it my favorite app of all time. AND now that it has apps available for iPad, Mac, and iPhone that all sync up beautifully, I can access everything everywhere! Well done, GoodNotes; thank you!.Version: 5.5.8

Great app, a few added features would be ready though.I’m not one to leave reviews but I’m very impressed with this app. It has no lag, its features are great and it’s aesthetically pleasing. The design was the reason I picked it over Notability. Being able to see customisable ‘notebooks’ and see thumbnails of the pages is really helpful for a visual learner. I would love if they’d add a split screen and recording feature. I took a star off because there has been a glitch where when I click undo it sporadically erases content from previous pages not just the one I’m working on. Once I figured this out I stopped using it but it did cause a lot of frustration. Hopefully this is addressed soon. The app is still so amazing apart from that so I continued to use it. Honestly, I was hesitant about paying for the app but it has been such a blessing to my studies. Definitely makes it easy to study anywhere and the writing process is fluid. Its also really convenient having everything I need in one app: notes, PDF texts, assignments etc. Love, love, love..Version: 5.0.28

AmazingThis has completely revolutionised the way i study! For someone who hates to study, this has made studying so much more easier and interactive as it allows me to add drawings and colours to my notes that I couldn’t do before without starting over again if I made a mistake. It made note taking so much more enjoyable and in turn studying more enjoyable. I feel like I can retain a lot more information especially using the Cornell Notes templates and also understand the notes I’ve taken. With inbuilt handwriting search system it lets me go back to my notes and refer to my own handwriting if I need to search for a topic or subject. Simply an amazing app and a must have for any student!.Version: 5.5.8

ImpressedTruth is, I’m not a student or an internet Wizz kid, I’m a truck driver, plain and simple, needed something to handle my PDF files for load dispatch, maintenance etc, however today I received some important documents to be filled and returned to our office ASAP, I opened the email app, imported the files, edited and signed the said document then returned by email. Perfect, 5 minutes all done, very impressed and I’m now looking at further ways to utilize your App. It’s already paid for itself in saving time and not having to mess around with faxes or pay to get more ‘FAX’ credits with a certain other app. Thank you Devs, major success story so far for ease of use, portability and brilliantly designed features. Good luck.Version: 5.4.4

A great productivity appI use this app all day, every day. All my meeting notes over the last few years have been written with GoodNotes. The notes are backed up all the time. When I got a new device, they were all there on the new device. I can use the search to find notes from months or years back. I can effectively carry around years worth of notes without the need to carry a stack of heavy notebooks. I definitely recommend this app to everyone who needs to write handwritten notes..Version: 5.3.8

The Update Slows it Dow a lotUsed to be my favourite app but since the update it is very slow to move around a document and wastes a significant amount of time.Version: 5.0.5

A downgrade for presentations - NOT ANYMORE!I wrote a review months ago and fortunately, they have fixed the problems with presentation mode. Now i can write on the slides while showing them in a screen without having to show the tools bar. Also, I can lock the screen so that I can zoom in somewhere without the audience seeing that. The option of using the pen as a pointer is in again and with a cool tracing option. Finally I could fully transfer everything from version 4. (Haven’t rechecked if the following has been solved): A general complain (valid also for the previous version), it crashes with some pdfs with heavy vectorial graphics. Any way to avoid it (maybe by not loading the graphs)?.Version: 5.3.11

Almost!I use GoodNotes 4 all the time for notes. The writing experience is fluid and the app in general is well thought out and easy to use. GoodNotes 5 has developed on an app that is already practically perfect, the new paper styles are great and the filing system works a lot better than the previous rendition. However the most important aspect of the app is the quality of the writing, I have a 2018 iPad which works really well with good notes 4 however even with the newest update Goodnotes 5 just doesn't quite cut the mustard. It’s laggy when writing and the eraser tool is terrible. I find that these aspects disrupt my workflow. However I feel these are easily improved as they hit the nail bang on the head with the previous app. There is a lot here that is brilliant and I'm sure it will soon be perfect..Version: 5.0.5

Very practical for studentsUPDATE 2: please add a ruler feature! And a toggle to not have the highlighting darken when you overlap in different strokes Dec - UPDATE: After using for a whole semester, I find that the app works well enough to keep up w me but sometimes it will glitch and won’t even open up and I have to quickly switch to one note, MID-LECTURE. Also, when using the zoom box, the jumps from indent to indent are so big and hard to control/predict. W the zoom-box you can only erase within the box itself, which is a waste of time bc you have to either scroll the box up or exit zoom mode altogether. Also, I wish they’d make the pen size REALLY big so I can colour things in or use it as whiteout (when annotating pictures/PDFs that can’t be erased). Another cool thing would be to add an equation feature. I would also really like to change the colours of folders. Maybe they could also give the option to ppl to add more preset colours or remove them, bc maybe someone only needs 2 or wants to have 5 at the top. I’m also waiting for the day auto sync to google drive will be integrated. I don’t have money to expand my iCloud storage and I would also like to look at my slides as PDFs on google drive. Although I personally screen record in lecture to record my profs AND see what I’m writing at the same time, it would be helpful if there was an integrated recording feature within the notes so I don’t have to watch the entire recording all over again just to find a 5 second tidbit. Another helpful thing would be to add a feature where you can use an infinite scroll/canvas with presentation slides, so I can annotate all around if I run out of space within the slide, instead of having to add a slide underneath, which is hard to do when using symbols and diagrams. All in all, it’s a solid app, save for a few minor pet peeves. I can’t imagine switching back to pen and paper. Aug: I was very nervous about forgoing pencil and paper but once I got the hang of the settings on GoodNotes it turns out it’s so much more efficient to use this app. In paper switching colours, highlighting, erasing takes a lot of time, whereas this saves time, which is valuable when you’re in a lecture. You can move around what you’ve previously written, which you can’t do on paper, you can write directly on PowerPoints, which saves money from printing and storage space, you can add pictures, so much more. Add a Bluetooth keyboard to your tablet and you have a laptop. You can undo, split screen and have a calculator on the side, or your online textbook. I’ve never been more happy with a lifestyle/education app. Well worth the money..Version: 5.3.16

Great cross-device supportI use this primarily on the iPad, but now that the single purchase applys to all devices I can sync my notes and it is great! I don't use the macOS version for taking notes, so could never justify paying for it, but having access to my notes on here is awesome..Version: 5.4.36

Good 4 Students but...I got this to help with note taking at university and it’s been great. I can easily import PowerPoints as pdfs and make a variety of notes personal to me. Works well with ipencil and is easy to use for class or study. I also like the customisability of the tools. Well worth it for any student wanting to take better notes. I only have a few problems/suggestions: 1. The magnifying glass is extremely helpful but no good when reading journal articles - the app assumes you’ll bee reading left to right across the whole page. A button to skip to top right would be handy. 2. Some note-taking software I’ve used in the past converts handwriting to text. This would be particularly useful when having to make lots of notes in class, as it saves space on the page - and you can understand it when you come back to it later! 3. When you highlight information within a pdf I feel there should be a separate panel so you can skip straight to the sections you highlighted, without laboriously searching through the whole document again. Definitely worth buying and I hope the functionality improves with further updates..Version: 5.4.3

Update 5.6.9 has the features I’ve been looking forward toThis has been my main note taking app since Goodnotes 4. As a math teacher, I can use this app for all of my needs (worksheet creations, tests and even presentations). Until now, I’ve had to use workarounds for shapes whose sizes I needed to manipulate. As of this update, I no longer need any workarounds! This app is self contained. I am so impressed with the developers dedication and ability to redefine Goodnotes 4 to 5 and all of the impressive improvements along the way. I used to always look at new note apps hoping to find one that would fit all my needs (pretty lofty wishes), but I haven’t needed to look for any other note, pdf app in well over a year now. Favorite features: ability to crop and place pictures where I like; easy user interface that lets me copy, paste, move pages around in document; ability to search for a document based on a word search (I have hundreds of files and a large folder structure for organizing my work); and as of now, I can show graphs and can alter the lines easily to show changes in equations; ability to make my own templates and use them easily in new documents (graph paper, dot grids...). Can’t thank you enough for all the work you’ve put into this app!.Version: 5.6.9

I absolutely love this appI love this app so much and i have been using it since 2013 on my ipad. i downloaded it on my macbook over a year ago but normally do not use much. very recently, i have started using it on my mac as it makes it very handy and easy to read notes on my mac which i have taken using an ipad with apple pencil. i love the interface, design, highlighter option and espically how it makes the text brighter after using highlighter whcih makes the text standout. the only think i would like to have in this app is, 2 pages view when viewing the pages for reviewing the notes in full screen mode like the apple preview app. i think that will be total game changer..Version: 5.6.30

BrilliantGoodNotes 5 is my favourite. Maybe it's just because I haven't got used to Notability, but the GoodNotes UI feels a lot more natural. I am so happy that they haven't jumped on the subscription bandwagon - it makes the app feel more like a solid part of the iPad. One of the improvements I would like to see is better shape tools. When you make a filled shape, it's transparent, which is just odd. And it's not very intuitive - it's rather difficult to get the app to recognise when I'm trying to draw a rectangle. It would be wonderful if they introduced an editable table feature, similar to Microsoft Word (because last I looked, Apple's Notes app can't do basic tables to save its life and Word is a crashy laggy mess on iPadOS). I make a lot of lists and tables, and it would be good to be able to edit cells as you go (though the template feature is wonderful). One last thought would be to add suport for more languages. I use the app partially to make notes for learning a language (Norwegian) and it's a little disappointing that the search doesn't recognise æ/ø/å. I know it's an obscure-ish language, but a girl can dream. All that said, the app absolutely deserves #1 in productivity. Very much worth the money. Edit: The app really lends itself to journalling and diaries, so it would be really helpful if I could encrypt specific folders/notes and make them unsearchable until unlocked. Thank you for reading!.Version: 5.4.38

Really good! It's the perfect note taking app really. I use it everyday in med school to annotate and take notes during lectures. Importing pdfs and ppts is seamless so that's great. The UI is really nice to use and very intuitive, so it's easy to navigate. The app has a nice, simple aesthetic but packed with a lot of useful features so it doesn't feel overcrowded or lacking. Special shout out to the 'Search' function which is just incredible!! You can type to search any word and it will find it, even among handwritten notes! My handwriting is pretty bad and it still always manages to read and find the word/phrase. Hats off to the developers 👏 It's always compared with Notability but the two are very similar at this point. I went for goodnotes and don't regret it. You will quickly adapt to either app and won't notice the small differences. Some improvements: ❎Voice recording feature (as in Notability) ❎Please make thumbnails bigger to allow easier scrolling through large documents (or the option to change size with a slider) ❎Allow costomisable organisation of documents within folders (Date/Name/Type isn't very useful; I'd rather order them myself).Version: 5.6.42

Love it but.......I love using goodnotes, it's very useful for studying and just overall, however, I like to use the dark paper as I use dark mode for my iPad, but there aren’t as many paper options for planning in dark paper which would be quite useful. Also would appreciate it if the highlighter would go under the words instead of on top. Overall, I love using GoodNotes 5 and have used it a lot over the last couple months since I got it..Version: 5.6.30

Please add in more features in document searchThis app is amazing it's worth the price. The only thing I would suggest is adding in a highlighter colour search feature. As I highlight documents I use different colours for different things but if I’m wanting to search for a specific topic I’ve highlighted I have to scroll through the whole document. Just so you have everything relating to that specific thing, everything will be in the same place 😊✌🏽.Version: 5.6.42

Good app, but needs more back up optionsAs a user of goodnotes 4, I had all my files back up to my large google drive. However, goodnotes 5 only backs up to iCloud, which is much smaller. I am constantly bombarded with messages that my iCloud is almost full every time I open the app. Cross platform back ups should be reinstated to make this app truely great.Version: 5.0.18

No comparison to GoodNotes 4I am a huge advocate of GN4 and used it daily for my engineering practice to mark-up documents either onsite or in the office. Loved the seamless integration with OneDrive on my desktop and the speed at which you could flick around and between hi res detailed drawings. Unfortunately both of these features are now lost, exporting to one drive is now cumbersome requiring jumping between apps and the lag when moving around documents is almost unusable... This is a shame as it is a great workflow tool that I have personally recommended to many peers..Version: 5.0.3

Amazing app helps keep me organisedI love this app. I have all my work, holiday, medical and craft documents in one place. Organised by files and sub folders, I have an iPad Pro and a pencil so all docs I can add handwritten notes or typed notes to them. Updated. I would love to be able to use hyperlinks, and as some of my apps are now using the Apple handwritten, conversion to text, I would love to see this in the app too. I write many patterns and my writing is not always the best, but Apple handwritten to text recognises it to it is easy to change with a scribble. I have shown many people how to use this app and highly recommend it..Version: 5.6.30

Glad I found thisAlthough I already had a Mac Air, I am new to IOS and am really enjoying most aspects, especially this app -GoodNotes5. It works well and synchronises beautifully across the two devices. I appreciate the folder system, as that's my preferred method of organisation. I love being able to handwrite on pdf's as well as making my own notes. One thing I find difficult is the handwriting to text. I appreciate that this is mainly a notes app for handwriting, but occasionally I need to add text. The "write by hand, select, CONVERT, copy, then paste" method works, but is a long procedure and the resulting sizing always surprises me! Using the Text Box facility has been unreliable for me. I know I could use the onboard keyboard, but would like to use the pencil, but more often than not, I cannot get it to work within the text box. It may be me! Generally though, deighted to have this app. It's the one I use most frequently on my IPad.Version: 5.6.26

User friendlyHandy to use, sync to my mobile phone easily.Version: 5.6.32

Mac appThe app is really great on my Ipad. Although the Mac application is really glitchy and slow. Its not a big deal but it would be really great if that was fixed!.Version: 5.6.24

Once you have it there is no going backHave done 3 years at uni using a combination of paper notes and a laptop, I often lost pages and lecture notes. With GoodNotes everything is so much more organised and optimised, I cannot express how much it has helped my study..Version: 5.6.54

For the most part pretty greatI was looking for an app where I can annotate pdfs, and switch between the computer and an iPad while doing so. I love the capabilities, and the layout. I like that you can choose covers for notebooks, and that there are even so many different types of "papers" to choose from, from dotted, lined to even Cornell notes. And that you can add pages to pdfs, or can easily take photos and then export them as pdfs. Furthermore, whenever I edit a pdf on the iPad, it would automatically sync to the app on the Mac. My main problem is with the glitches on the Mac app. Often when selecting the highlighting tool, the highlighting has to be done manually, which is difficult to do on the computer without touch screen. You can also select text and then click highlight, but I would like that capability when I am using the highlighter specifically. The option to select the text would also often not work after a while, and I would have to quit Goodnotes and open it back up again. And finally, there is also no convenient way to underline, which currently would require manually drawing lines under text. The layout of the files is also sometimes not as intuitive for me, and I would like to have the option of seeing my file folders on the side bar as well. But other than that, I am enjoying using Goodnotes so far, and feel that the pros definitely outweigh the cons (which I hope will be improved soon with updates!).Version: 5.6.15

Simply the bestSimply the best note-taking app for the iPad. Writing is very fluid, deals with palm rejection very well. Mirroring to external displays without furniture appearing is a nice touch and makes this useful for presentations that involve writing in real time (eg when teaching). I use it also also to manage and read PDFs as well as annotate them. I have recommended it as the go-to app for colleagues who have recently been issued with iPads for the first time. The responses have been uniformly positive. The one feature that would make this a one-stop-shop for all my needs would be to display a page I’m writing on in real time on a Mac, as then this would allow (furniture-less) real time notes to be shared over video calls. I know it can be done with third party airplay receivers but we’ve not found this to work reliably in all network environments. (But that I think is an airplay bug rather than an issue with GoodNotes itself)..Version: 5.6.9

One thing neededI love the new “Automatic Backup” Now if you would only add a passcode option it would make it a 5 star and would become my primary notebook..Version: 5.4.0

Almost a goodbye to the paper notebookI am a very keen note taker - if I don’t write it down it doesn’t happen. I’ve tried lots of note-taking solutions, sometimes buying a device solely because it would allow me to take ALL my notes electronically ... and then failing. This is really an exceptionally good programme. Notes are easy and quick to create and inking is super smooth. The import ability is pretty reliable though for some reason I can’t take a snapshot within the programme and use it but can from the camera roll. To make it perfect I would love a way to make more space in the note - you can move blocks with the lasso tool but that isn’t a solution for long notes. Still a solid 5 - buy it if you have the Apple Pencil!.Version: 5.3.3

GoodNotes 5, I want to love you but I can’t.First of all, I want to say congratulations. The long-awaited GoodNotes 5 has brought with it some amazing, highly-desired, new features that really improve the functionality of this app. But one thing I really want to give feedback on is the writing experience - which has decreased dramatically from GoodNotes 4. It’s so unfortunate, but somehow with GoodNotes 5 the time lag between the Apple Pencil and the output on the screen is far, far, FAR more noticeable than it was in GoodNotes 4. Something about writing in the app now feels slow, clunky and does not take full advantage of the capabilities of the Apple Pencil! Where GN4 was highly comparable to Notability (which I consider to have the best writing experience out of all note-taking apps), GN5 feels like I’m writing on an outdated tablet from 5-7 years ago. I’m sad because apart from this I LOVE GN5! Please just return to whatever algorithm GN4 was using for writing, and then GN5 will claim its rightful place as my Number 1 note-taking app!.Version: 5.0.2

AWESOME APP overall, but can be improved! This APP is great on the iPad. The handwriting is fluent and the options are great. I personnally adore the Cmd+F search that is capable to search handwritten words as well. Perhaps, on the MAC version, it would be great to have the "two page view" instead of having to scroll down and only see one page at the time. Finally, if there could be an option to have an "infinity page" like OneNote, it would make this APP the best one for notetaking..Version: 5.4.14

Excellent Search Improvements, Backup options limitedI have been using Goodnotes for extensive note taking during graduate school. Version 5 keeps many of the aspects that have made it my favorite note taking app, but again this version is not quite perfect. The best improvement from version 4 is the document search feature, which includes your handwriting. I also enjoy the continuous scroll feature. Thank you, developers! On the downside, version 5 does not seem to have the diverse backup options that were available in version 4. I had been using Dropbox since I work on many devices that are not made by Apple, and I liked to be able to access the up to date backup from anywhere. Now, however, iCloud is the only backup option. Please make the other cloud sync services available. One feature that was carried over without change from version 4 but I hope to see updated in version 5 is the 3 size eraser. You can make the pen very fine to write small (which I love), but you can’t make the eraser very small to make fine tuned corrections. A few more small eraser options are needed. I would also like to see version 5 create an option to open 2 notes side by side (similar to the feature in Notability)..Version: 5.0.1

Good note taking appI am using this app for taking notes for university. The app is stable and the search function is powerful. However, I have found some functionality lacking in regards to drawing shapes; where pre-set shapes, such as arrows and circles would greatly speed up note taking and study. Also being able to have more control over the notes, e.g. to be able copy a complete page from one notebook to another would be helpful. Overall, it is a really good app. Four stars..Version: 5.6.44

Everything good but request!!!!Could you make an option so you can zoom out on pdf documents so the page does not have to fit the whole screen?.Version: 5.4.43

Incredible note taking appI use this app everyday for school work i am still so impressed how it works so well with the iPad and apple pencil, I especially like it for subjects such as maths and chemistry. The usability of it immediately being on every device is so nice to have and how you can organise all your notes into folders and subfolders with notebooks. Ive been using this app for 4 months almost 5 hours a day and i still find undiscovered features like adding custom page templates through files. However the app could still add some features which would make it flawless. In order of importance to me: A fill tool to fill shapes with colour after you have drawn it; the ability to write full screen with no bar at the top of at least a minimised version; more options for the highlighter tool such as an outline for where it will highlight such as a black 50% opacity ring around the size of highlighter and the option to turn off highlighter layering so it doesn’t make the colour darker; a recent colours section; a protractor, compass and ruler tool for improved maths and shape drawing and the ability to change the colour of selected writing for example from black to red. Thanks for making such an incredible app..Version: 5.6.28

Absolutely DelightfulI could not stress this enough that GoodNotes, by a long shot, is one of my very favorite, most delightful apps to use EVER. I try to find a reason to use GoodNotes every day, and am absolutely ecstatic to do so. It’s well-worth the couple bucks to buy the app, you won’t be disappointed. I’ve heard people complain about the organization, but honestly, if you’re setting up folders or even exporting as PDFs when you’re finished with a notebook, organization doesn’t seem to lack intuitiveness. I’d actually argue that GoodNotes has a great handle on organization and integration with Mac and iPhone. My favorite feature, by far, is being able to import a pdf and mark that sucker up. I recommend having a readily available “quick notes” notebook and using it, as you would, the apple notes app. Pretty sure you can setup some pretty comprehensive shortcuts on apple shortcuts app to start a quick note as well. I could go on, but all that you need to know to motivate you to buy this app is that it is absolutely worthwhile, don’t even think twice, just press download!.Version: 5.6.21

Great Program With Very Little Problems.GoodNotes is great for taking notes at school as an alternative to using books. It’s great, the palm rejection is amazing. Looking forward to using it for university..Version: 5.0.13

Application keeps crashingThe application crashes continously while working. It does recover where las crashed but it is extremely frustrating that is not stable..Version: 5.0.8

A few ideas in the futureHi GoodNotes! Love the app, been using for over a year! I have some ideas that maybe could be implemented one day... The first would be a full screen version of your notes that are still editable (no HUD) So you can still edit your notes but without the tools present on top. It’d look clean! Maybe a floating toolbar? The second would be the ability to change the colours of files. I love the file system, but it’d be great to have multiple colours to choose from for your files, other than blue. The next would be .gif, .mp3 and .mp4 formats support for notes. This would be really cool for things like lectures, instead of just putting a link. Another idea would be having more pen options. Right now there’s two, it’d be pretty fun to have a pencil or crayon for example. Or maybe a glow pen that’s permanent (unlike the laser tool currently implemented) Another idea is a ruler option, that shows actual measurements for IRL (centimetres, inches ect.) Thanks again GoodNotes, really great app!!.Version: 5.4.0

YESI just checked out the new Goodnotes 5 after upgrading (thank you, BTW)...and, omg I'm so excited right now. I use this app for EVERYTHING --from school notes to my digital Planner to diy beauty recipes to artwork and hand lettering practice. I have tried many different programs (Notability is good, but I don't care for the handwriting I produce and the style of the nib; I love INKredible for the nib, but it doesn't do much else; Procreate does some amazing things but it's extremely feature-heavy and doesn't offer typing which is a big bummer for creating planner printables ; and probably 5-10. Other apps that were so un-noteworthy i. Can't even remember them by name) but goodnotes is the one I always come back to. It has been missing one crucial thing for me --the ability to use the font profiles I have in my library. Until NOW!!! THANK YOU! I'm so excited I've been, up until now, having to type my template printables in Pages, then import into here and then I get stuck with a white background and is just a big mess but not anymore!!!!! This is what you've been missing and I am thrilled with the updates..Version: 5.0.1

Some bugsSome function keys do not work after using. have to quit and open the software again. For Mac Version.Version: 5.4.35

Love that notes are organised into booksGreat app. Easy to use. Couple of things that could be improved are the text formatting/editing settings. I would appreciate being able to adjust Leading (line spacing) and even tracking. Would be great to be able to save settings for your headings, body text etc, or copy and paste style options. Also would be so great to be able to zoom out from the page, to see the whole page. Especially when using the on-screen keyboard, the bottom of the page gets easily lost..Version: 5.4.29

GreatI had to decide between Good Notes 5 and Notability. Both apps are very similar but I went with Good Notes, mainly because it was a dollar or two cheaper and I’m very happy with the experience I’ve had with it so far. It’s so easy to write notes and actually makes note taking fun! I can customise them however I like and organising each document into folders is super useful. My only suggestion is improving the handwriting to text option. At the moment, you have to select the text, convert it, copy it and paste it again and it’s just a nuisance and so time consuming. I’d prefer if it automatically changed to text if you, say, double tap on it twice or something like an app called Nebo does. Otherwise, Good Notes 5 has fulfilled all my other needs..Version: 5.4.36

Good applicationAll that is missing is copy/paste..Version: 5.4.23

Problem of entering textSometime When I trying to enter text in the document, the text box would’t show up, even if text box show up, I can’t move it around. I have to shut the app and reopen it. Could you fix this issue?.Version: 5.6.54

Replaced my paper notebooksI've been using GoodNotes since mid-March (it's the end of May now), and I couldn't be happier with it! I'm a college student, and it's so much easier to carry my iPad around than to carry multiple (large) notebooks on top of all my textbooks around in my backpack. My shoulders thank you, GoodNotes! An added bonus is that I can move my writing around, rather than erasing sections when I want to move them. The organization system is robust, and I love that I can read and annotate PDFs right in the app—then put them in a folder with my notebook for a class! When I was deciding about switching from paper to digital notes, I was concerned that my learning/retention would be affected (because of all the studies that said notetaking on a computer wasn't as effective), but I'm still writing (I use an Apple pencil), so I still have all the benefits of taking notes by hand, but without the hassle of taking them physically. I'd put off switching to a digital note-taking system for so long, but I'm so glad I finally made the leap! GoodNotes is the best sort of life-changer! :).Version: 5.4.25

Amazing AppI love this app. Easy to use and no limit on pages. Only one thing I’m missing is recording. I wish they could add Recording feature..Version: 5.6.9

Undo and redo shortcuts please! The new update brings some fantastic new features that have been requested for a long time however it would be wonderful if there were a future update adding a two finger tap shortcut (or something similar) for the undo (and redo) button similar to procreates implementation. It may not sound like much but I’m sure anybody who has used procreate can vouch that the feature saves SO much time and effort. It’s a shame as this was the feature I was most looking forward to being implemented in the new version..Version: 5.0.2

Great App, I Use It All the TimeI like this app, and spent a while deciding whether to go with this or its most prominent competitor. I’m glad I went with GoodNotes! I started with V4, and have just upgraded to V5 with no issues, and I really like the new features that have been introduced. However there are a couple of features that I enjoyed in 4 that seem to have been taken away in 5 - the most frustrating being the toolbar in zoom mode. Very annoying to keep accidentally tapping the tab-back button instead of undo, and it breaks my flow when I have to stop and use that split second to remind myself that all of the tools are at the top now. Great app, I’ll continue to love using it but please re-add the tool bar in zoom mode!.Version: 5.0.3
