✓ Nice tool to record midi from digital drum kitI am learning to play drum on a Yamaha D55 drum pad kit. I need to record my music and compare to a professional drummer’s play. I don’t want to just record with an external mic as it picks up all the thumping noise from when the drum sticks hit the drum pads. You know, on a real drum kit, you won’t have the artificial thumping sound. This nice app, along with a midi-in/out to usb cable, allows me to record on my iPhone. One little kink that took me while to figure out: as I am naive to midi, the recorded midi file has to be channeled back to my Yamaha drum kit and the recorded music would come out of the drum kit speakers. The recorded midi music would not come out of my iPhone’s speakers..Version: 1.2.5

Recording works, I can control midi inputs and outputs, even the piano plays the recording from my device even when my devices volume is off but my pianos is on. ✓ Great, simple tool that captures MIDI at a high time resolutionThis app concept is very simple and performs one task pretty well. Afaik, it's the only dedicated recorder tool like this for iOS and MacOS, which supports the full 16 channels of MIDI. I have noticed some issues with lost notes and incorrectly placed note-off events. Not sure why this is, but it is a repeatable issue I've encountered. In my application, I am often sending a large amount of multi-channel MIDI data at once, but unsure if this is the reason. However, if you use Ableton Live and need a multi-channel MIDI file that runs close to the actual internal clock of Live, rather than the weak 96ppqn, single-channel export option it provides, this might be the only option, short of recording it into another DAW. If there were a paid version of MIDI Rec, it would be an instant purchase for me with the addition of the following features— -Type 1 MIDI file export -Recording tempo selection -External MIDI clock-sync -Recording triggered by MIDI start message Less critical, but very welcome would be a native MacOS UI version. ;).Version: 2.0.16
✓ Getting Better! Needs a few Fixes..First of all, thanks for such a great little app and for making it free! Could you look into adding a mute switch to the internal synth? I’d love to quickly capture a midi file but it would be nice to be able to mute the synth since it has to be enabled for the app to work in the background. Also, could you please allow for separate midi files to be created per midi channel? So as to be able to create a multitrack midi file? I’d like to load it afterwards to Cubasis for further editing, Thanks! MM4C.Version: 1.2

✓ UsefulThis is a useful app, and will most likley use it with my Nektar SE49. The only reason why I give it 4 is because the lack of instruments. I dont need like 20, but 5 could do. I’d like a piano sound too. Overall, great app!.Version: 1.2.2
✓ Surprisingly pleased!I’ve been looking for a MIDI recorder for iOS for a while, but I avoided trying this one because of the low amount of reviews. Eventually I ran out of other options and downloaded this app. I’m surprised - and relieved - to say that it works very well! I’m only using it to record MIDI files on my keyboard, but for that feature alone this app has earned my 5-star rating!.Version: 2.0.4
✓ Great little app, just missing a couple of featuresJust found this app which is great for recording a song on the go and then loading it up into your favourite midi app. I would have given it 5 stars but feel that it is missing a metronome and also a way to change the BPM.
