✓ Why, Developers, Why?The KVUE app used to be pretty awesome, but lately, either stories don’t update in a timely fashion or the app crashes. Then there’s whatever happened to the allergy report, which I used to depend on to manage my allergies. Gone is the graphic which showed pollen counts, now it’s just a half- hearted typed list that sometimes isn’t even complete. Why? Did y’all give up?.VeryJoableVersion: 45.20.1

✓ Notifications Are Too FrequentThis app is great if you love sports! It pushes notifications to you about sports all the time! Even if you toggle the settings so that you should ONLY get notifications about the weather! ✓ Thank you for local austin newsI’m grateful that I get updates about current events in Austin. Thank you. I don’t watch the news because it’s repetitive, full of commercials and bloated weather segments. I get my daily weather in 30 seconds on my phone and don’t waste my time. I’m giving 3 stars because of the app. If I get breaking news and go to investigate, I’m met immediately with commercials. If I want to resize or hit pause there are more commercials. Nope, not going to wait. The interface could be clear and streamlined, but it’s not. Give me a chance to scroll to big sections of interest - local news, local events, crime, politics and voting. ✓ Decent, but videos don’t match articlesIt happens a lot - I get a push alert about a news item. I tap it and the article opens up in the app, with a video at the top of the article. I start the video, and 9 times out of 10, the video is about something barely related to the article, from days or weeks old - not really relevant to the just received push notification..CptnYawpVersion: 43.4.27

✓ Decent for news, but topics don’t work and ads are annoyingI like having news alerts pop up for relevant local news. As much as I like it, I will often see an article later that I never got a notification for, but I would have liked to. My biggest two complaints are with ads and the topic notification settings. Every video has a 15+ second ad in front of it (including live videos). Also, if you leave the article and come back to watch the video again, guess what? Another video ad. Super annoying! The topics selection for notifications DOES NOT WORK. I specifically excluded anything sports related because I could care less. And what do I get? “Breaking news! Something something football player is playing for this team!” This is not the end of the world, but I have no confidence that the rest of my notification settings do anything, and the app would be much better if they worked. All that said, a few years ago the app would constantly crash and was pretty useless, so at least it works like it should..Ryan5678Version: 43.9.3

✓ KVUE running in background affecting battery lifeEven when I have completely closed out of the app (double clicked home button and swiped the app away) it is showing major battery usage. On battery it says kvue was 1 minute screen and 6 hours background with 26% of my battery usage during those 6 hours. I have shutdown and restarted my iPad but nothing seems to help. I turned off all Background App Refresh but when I look at the system settings under KVUE it still shows the background refresh on, and it won’t let me change it..NLE_geoVersion: 42.7.35

✓ Like the info, would love a paid version sans ads!I would actually pay for a version of this app without the ads. Love the news KVUE provides, but the ad images are distracting and make the information really hard to consume. Sometimes the ad images are even on the risqué side which is bizarre for a reputable organization? ✓ Recent UpgradeThe recent upgrade has made this website a little less user friendly. It used to be easy to find specific topics by icons, now it’s a little more complicated. I do enjoy the reports but it would be better if it was more user friendly..Deaf-BabyboomerVersion: 41.4.3

This “news” app is nearly 50% advertisements which makes it incredibly difficult to navigate and decider what’s actual news content and what’s sponsored advertising. ✓ Please remove ads prior to COVID newsI sent an email earlier this year on this subject but I didn’t receive a response. With regard to COVID-related news, especially at the beginning of this year when we had to stay at home, I felt it was very insensitive of KVUE to run commercial advertisements prior to watching important news reports on the pandemic. Majority of people had to stay at home, lots of folks lost their jobs, couldn’t pay mortgage/rent, car payment, bills, food, etc., and worried about their family and friends. I wanted to learn everything I could about COVID. We relied on KVUE to bring up to date information and y’all did a great job of reporting but for the commercials. It was such a great idea to run commercials about buying a new car. I’m sure the majority of viewers had more important things on their minds than buying a car. I’m sure the car dealership who paid for the spots would’ve understood the reason to not run it just on COVID news. During inclement weather, you don’t cut for commercial breaks on television, so why do you have to online? I guess I’m not understanding your way of thinking..Reababy17Version: 42.10.17

It’s just a sounding board for mayor Adler and actively working to rid the city of its established businesses and night life to make room for “Vibrant shopping and dining” Another short sighted tool for the real estate developers. It’s going to be a shame when Austin has lost all of the character that made it a great and different kind of city, and then all of the imported people and businesses will just pack up and head to ruin the next trendy place. And now even worse, the station is actively ignoring shootings and robberies in the city to keep voters from voting yes on prop a. To call these people journalists is a joke. ✓ Why is there still ACL 2019 news on the home page?Seriously? In March 2020? Thought maybe I had not updated but nope that wasn’t it. Seems like pretty stale news for a news app! It’s not like this is a small town with nothing going on...am I the only one who ponders this kind of thing? ✓ Crash fest!I have used the kvue (lower case intentional) app for years and it is continually pathetic. I have to open a story multiple times and listen to the adds over and again to get to read the short news blip. I have continued to try because I like the local pollen report and local news but I am done. Now I can only see 3 stories on the front page. Whereas before I could see now and old. I normally just use the app for weather now. ✓ Frustrated!!I love KVUE news, the TV, apps and any other way to watch this news channel. I’m a dedicated 20+ years viewer, as a emergency responder, KVUE is always there to give city employees a chance to explain why things may have problems. The other news outlets in Austin are extremely quick to blame police fire and EMS if were trying to work through a issue. I’m FRUSTRATED with the constant ads and pop ups, I know you have to get funds in the door, do you have a paid version of KVUE news? It’s gotten to many interruptions. I can’t give you a 1 star because I truly feel you guys give a fair and balanced view of the news. I can always watch and know there will be at least 1 positive story. But 2 stars is it, I’m now starting to look for other ways to get local news from some other outlet on my phone, with less ads and shorter commercials (for the web) sorry guys, I’ll stick around to see if anyone replies or can tell me where to go for a add free version..Smalls2424Version: 43.2.41

✓ Make Notification Topic Settings WorkThis is a pretty good app, my main complaint is that the notification topic settings clearly don’t work. I care about actual news, not sports. So the only notifications I have enabled are Politics, Texas Legislature, Vote Texas, and Weather. Do football games fall into any of those categories? No. I even turned off Local News hoping it would stop the score updates. No such luck. ✓ The worst.Being forced to watch multiple 30-second ads for a 1-2 minute video is absurd, and at least half the page for each article is devoted to ads. You can get the same news elsewhere 3-4 times in the same amount of time it takes on here. The app is also painfully slow and often stalls out with no easy way to return to an article you were reading. The experience makes it painfully obvious that the goal is to milk you for revenue, as opposed to delivering the news..Bland grapeVersion: 43.1.57
