✓ Great gameI love love love scythe and play online with my group constantly. I did just see an update for invaders afar and updated the app with no luck to be able to play it. I tried on my iPad as well as iPhone. How do I play the new portion? I would probably give a 5 star if it would allow me to play with the new factions..Version: 1.9.38

When *trying* to play on an airplane, I was not able to get past the loading screen and just watched the circle spin for 5 minutes. ✓ Needs work!!I recently got into the Scythe board game and was very excited to try the digital version so that I could play more often. However after playing around 10 games of this version there are some huge issues and I don’t think i will be playing anymore. First, the sound has never worked for me. I’ve restarted the app multiple times and made sure the option is on -still no sound. Not a huge deal but i feel this is a bug they need to fix. Next, i know the rules say everybody gets a random faction/mat combination, but if I’m playing bots offline I should be able to pick what combo i want. On top of this, it picks Crimea for me every single time!!!! Lastly, the AI for the bots is garbage. I have beat the hardest difficulty bots ever single time i try. It’s not even challenging or fun and I’m not even that good at the game. To conclude, don’t buy this if you want to choose your own faction/mat, want a decent challenge, don’t want to get stuck playing the same faction over and over again, and play without sound. This was very disappointing for me and I’m not expecting it to improve..Version: 1.9.81

✓ Full of glitches.Scythe is my favorite board game. When this app works I love it. The last game I played was 7 players; two humans and five AI. The game skipped Polania and Rusviet each turn. Also, I had all of my enlists and each time my neighbor would take a bottom row action it would show that I received my bonus but not ACTUALLY give it to me. Insane. Why can’t this game be fixed? ✓ Honestly ...I wish I’d saved my money. It’s not that it’s bad, I just had expected something great from my favourite board game. The bots are easily to beat if you know how to play. I’ve never played the solo board version so I don’t know if it tries to play like a person or an Automata. The game is easily playable once you figure out what to tap to do what although I’ve yet to be able to select a Mech and have it pick up fewer men than I have on a hex. It picks up all or none. If they ever come up with a Rise of Fenris addition I might upgrade just to see how that works. That’s one expansion I don’t have..Version: 1.0

✓ Non responsive app support.I have a large group of people that play this together online. It’s a great way to play when we’re not together. We all love the game. ✓ Impressive but weak AIThe production values and UI are great and playing solo play runs smoothly, even on a phone! My biggest complaint is that the AI seems too easy. I’ve played physical scythe less than 10 times (a couple years ago), and I never studied or prepped any strategies or know any opening combos. I have now played 1 on 1 against the hard AI 3 times and easily won by a large margin each time. My last victory was 49-18! I also find undo a little clunky, but that’s not a big deal. I’m not interested in multi-player, so I’m not sure I’ll get many more plays out of this without AI improvements..Version: 1.8.70

For example I knew I should be able to specify how many workers I want to carry with mech so I put the effort in to figure out this is hidden under tapping the label. Or how to find details on your objectives or the building bonus. I then tried it on iPad to see if it utilizes the larger screen, but it just crashes even after a hard restart. ✓ Good game, desperately needs updatesSo far the game is well done, mirrors the pc port well and awesome job being able to play both pc and mobile players. Needs the following updates: 1) change the timer from a total per game to total per turn. For instance, when someone is AFK, the game will just let their 20min timer run out. Change each turn to a set timer like 30-60 seconds 2) show all future available upgrades, not just the next available 3) design a better method for flag/trap dropping, and pop up a reminder to do so 4) drop someone who doesn’t load into the game, it just freezes the game for everyone 5) show the name of the board you are using with your faction.Version: 1.9.63

✓ Great iPad version, constantly crashesI’ve been playing this game for a few years in all its versions. Been awaiting the iPad version for a while and very happy that it has arrived. ✓ Async setup is asinineThe fact that you have to have all of the friends you want to play an ASYNCHRONOUS game with online at the same time to setup the game is downright unforgivable. It should be a very simple change to allow you to invite friends from a friends list without then being online. The logistics of getting all the friends you want to play a game with on at the same time when it’s async is a huge unnecessary hassle. As well made as this app is, that is such a glaring issue that I can’t help but to bring my review down to 2 stars. ✓ Not a legible GUI on a phoneI wouldn't recommend playing this on a phone. It might be better listed as iPad only, unless you've played the board game before. Having never played the game, I'm not familiar with the iconography. I think I might rely too much on being able to read rules and descriptions. But on a phone, everything is crammed to the point where it's impossible to make out half of the text or the iconography. If you've played the board game before, I'm sure it might be easy enough to conclude that an icon could only mean one of a few things, and you probably don't need to read much/any of the tutorial text. It feels like trying to learn Civ 6 by playing a direct 4k resolution PC port on a 6" screen. ✓ Please update for offline gamesGreat game and the app plays well. My one complaint is that you cannot play an offline game, unless you are online. Oh the irony. I work for an aerial survey company and spend some long boring days up in the air. I haven’t found a way to activate the “undo” button during a multiplayer game. And there is a hack I’ve found that pretty much breaks combat. When combat is decided, before you click the “accept” button to resolve the fight, just exit the app. Reload, and enter the game again. App will start combat back from the beginning...after you have already been shown your opponents combat strength used for the fight. I’ve done it twice. The tutorial is more like a series of unconnected tips, and accessing the rules simply takes you to a PDF of the rule book for the board game, which actually doesn’t look all that much like the app does. ✓ Crashes at load screenI use a first generation iPad Air - the app quits before the game even loads and then when I log back in I get a prompt saying the save data is corrupted and I can’t resume the game. I try to start a new game and it crashes again. It’s only $9 so it’s not a huge loss but still a loss, none the less. Side note: this seems to be a consistent problem with game apps on first generation iPad Air tablets - other games I own like Mystic Vale and Evolution have the same problem where it crashes and the game is unplayable.
