✓ Good so far!Only downloaded it today, but really enjoying it so far. I feel like I’ve learnt a lot already. I like how there is a free version, and it’s not bugging me to upgrade. Will definitely think about upgrading if I keep at it (i have adhd and tend to hyperfocus on something then find something else to hyperfocus on)..Version: 1.44
✓ Great appI am using this app free during BSL week. I am using it to improve my sentence structure and facial expressions. I hope facial expressions and other non manual features aka tilting body, can be written in with the text of what signs mean. For beginners it would be useful for each section to have a quiz. It is interesting to see the differences between BSL and the sign language in my country. My other request is to know how many questions are in the quiz. Currently it seems never ending. I have no idea when quiz will finish, as there is no time line or number of questions. Love this app and hope it is translated into other signed languages It can sometimes lag, but that could be my poor internet thanks my currently awful govt..Version: 1.12
✓ Love it!I really love this app and it’s really helpful learning just for the fun of it although i often find myself getting answers from the person saying it while signing it which is helpful when you’re learning it but not when guessing so if there could be an option to not see that or cover it at least, that would be great. ✓ Loving this app!I have wanted to learn BSL for a long time particularly now that I am working in a Sensory Support Team and short of learning face to face this is a perfect course/app for me. It is easy to follow and you can do it at your own pace and if you are not quite sure of any of the signs then they are repeated until you click continue. So far am loving it! ✓ Something I always wanted to Learn.I saw this app & had wanted to learn sign language for many years. It’s was amazing how quickly I pick it up & how many of the signs are used by the general public, without realizing they are signs. I teaching method used with short video clips are very good & can be repeated as many times as you want. ✓ Bright BSL is a Bright start indeedSo good to use and easy to follow, well to be honest I struggle to start with, but’s using your common sense in signing where it been use every day and every where. Use this to communicate with my Deaf friends and families. Seeing them and their faces delighting, when I tried to communicate with them in their language had made my day and theirs too. ✓ Learning so quickly!!!I just started learning today and I’m wowed by how much I already know! It starts out with simple signs that basically anyone could infer like a thumbs up for good, then introduces things most people wouldn’t know. App is cute and uses a streak system for motivation to practice daily. I really think I could stick to this and actually learn and maybe even be able to use sign language one day..Version: 1.37

✓ Good app, could be great with some simple featuresI’ve been using the app for some weeks. I like the app as it’s easy to use and the different question types makes if fun to learn. Some features I would find helpful: - Practicing flash cards or quiz could be split into lessons of eg 10 or 20 words/phrases and completing one should count towards the streak (a new lesson every other day sometimes is to much). - Some info button with explanations would also be great: — eg grammar: when do I used point-OBJECT and when OBJECT-point — or things to note (like a facial expression, hand form, link to similar gestures that can easily be mixed up …) These are just a few thoughts, than would make a good app great..Version: 1.44

I struggle to learn quickly due to having autism my mind is always racing and forgetting things I recommend this app to anyone struggling to learn and remember the signs … the app constantly reminds and quizzes you. ✓ Superb appThe free content is excellent! It really helps me understand how to sign correctly using facial expressions also. The only issue is, the learning is slightly unstructured - one moment it will be teaching me “dog” and the next “30”. ✓ Found out I’m severely deafI recently found out I’m severely deaf, I thought my hearing was bad just didn’t know to what extent. I’m gonna wear my very first pair of hearing aids starting in December and it’s a scary journey I didn’t expect. I found this app searching for a good app to teach me BSL, it is something I always wanted to learn because I’m all for inclusivity and now I have even more reason to learn. ✓ Nice and straightforwardI’ve only done the free lessons so far, but they’re well laid out and the app is very simple to use. Much like Duolingo in its interface. I’ll very likely sign up once I’ve mastered the basics, but I do consider it a touch expensive when you look at how much a certified course through BSL is. My only other criticism is that it’s not explained, that I saw, which hand should be used. Both instructors seem to use different hands and I wasn’t sure if I should be mirroring or mimicking. A quick search online reckons to use the dominant hand as the main. Other than that, a solid app so far. Well done..Version: 1.44

The only thing I want to add is because of autism I struggle to do the face expressions or nodding or shaking head from just a picture because I can’t tell what is going on. It would be cool to consider that in the future similar to how the app says “point” when you need to point. That my only thing I have to add because I want to learn so at my autism college I go to I can talk to the students who are non verbal and can’t speak in front of people and sign . ✓ Best way of learning to signI started learning sign language because my mother is half deaf, it only took me a few lessons to have a conversation with her and she was so excited I could communicate with her using sign. ✓ Probably The Best!I’m a hearing user who wishes to learn BSL for no reason other than to have an ability to sign basic conversations should it become necessary one day. I’ve checked out a few signing apps and this appears to be far the best in terms of its presentation qualities and ability to teach effectively. The app is straightforward to use - similar in some respects to the way Duolingo works, but less hyped up!! The video lessons are well filmed and Karen is a delight to watch and learn from as the course progresses. Other apps are let down by the quality of the videos and poor GUI. However as I’m only a couple of weeks into Bright Sign I cannot really comment with authority on the long-term effectiveness of the entire course. Needless to say I’m very impressed so far..Version: 1.45

✓ Enjoying it so far :)I’m also autistic and finding that I’m only getting answers wrong when I select the words in a phrase as they are signed not as they are spoken. Other than that I’m 100% accurate. I like the different ways in testing your knowledge. Also I like to take the captions off when practicing so I actually read the signs not go with the autopilot of lip reading and waiting reading captions. I’m looking forward to be able to sign when I’m in verbal shutdown. I wish there was an option to say that’s why I’m using the app I had to tick other for my reason for learning and it felt sad..Version: 1.45
