✓ Great app, especially when travelingThis app is great, especially when you are in unfamiliar places. We just went to Newport this past weekend and used the app to find an excellent restaurant. Some places show up on other online sites as gluten friendly, but this app tells you that it has been vetted by Gluten Dude and you can trust the recommendation. Sometimes I go to these supposedly gluten friendly restaurants, and their big item is gluten-free bread that they toast in the same toasters as regular bread. Now they’ve added a new section where it tells you airport restaurants. At least you know ahead of time if there are any options, and can plan accordingly with your own snacks, if need be..Version: 4.0

✓ The Best Option for CeliacsI love this app, it’s the first thing I turn to when traveling to new places. The vetting this team does of each restaurant is incredibly thorough and very valuable to someone with a strict gluten free diet. That said, because the vetting process has to be intensive, there are fewer options available than on other user-submitted apps. If you’re casually gluten free, this app is more restrictive than you might want. If you are celiac or otherwise cross-contamination-sensitive, there’s no other app that provides as comprehensive a list of truly safe places to eat. I’ll happily pay someone to grill restaurant owners about dedicated fryers so that I don’t have to 😅 as time goes on the list will only keep growing as they get more and more resources! ✓ So Much Valuable Info Within One App!!This app is developed by an actual Celiac who cares about his community. Not only did he see a need and creatively fulfill it, but he is actively participates by asking for feedback, being available for questions, offering info on his FB page, and personally vetting restaurants. I love the vetting notes feature that tells you the restaurant’s practices. Gives me extra peace of mind and saves me from embarrassingly over explaining and grilling the waitstaff (even though in most cases they don’t mind and are happy to help). Other apps allow anyone with a wide variety of gluten intolerance and knowledge post whatever they want and the info may or may not be reliable or work for celiac. With GD, users post a suggestion and it is t posted until it’s been reviewed and/or vetted. On a recent road trip the map view was a life saver. I was able to pull it up and see what places where coming down the road and how long until the next safe place to eat. Gluten Dude also helped me find a great spot to eat near a hotel where we wanted to stop for the night. I couldn’t have pulled off my first road trip post diagnosis without this app! Finally- loving the feature that labels/organizes establishments as totally gluten free, recommended, etc. Seriously- try it out!!!.Version: 4.2

✓ Gluten Dude has never steered me wrongGluten Dude initially taught me how to survive and ultimately to thrive with a Celiacs diagnosis. I had eating safely nailed at home, but had been glutened and cross contaminated just about every time I ate out. Experience has shown that FMGF and Facebook groups are not reliable enough for me. I have been praying (seriously) that Gluten Dude would come to the conclusion that if you want safe recommendations you had to vet them yourself. I am so grateful for this app. Gluten Dude ROCKS! Restaurants say all the time they have gluten free food, but when you ask about cross contact/contamination, they say they can’t guarantee anything, which means they are NOT gluten free. Gluten Dude vets every restaurant and lists them as either gluten free or “CC” which means although not 100% gf, they understand cross contact and take proper precautions. ✓ Celiac for 2 decades- app is real dealI have had celiac for 20 years. I am old school and remember when there were no dedicated GF restaurants or menus easily available. Those resources have grown but many treat it as a cash grab and don’t provide truly celiac safe meals. It can be very difficult at airports for example, to locate a place to eat due to time constraints with layovers. “Gluten Dude” has places identified, scored, and located, down to which terminal they can be found, and many airports have multiple terminals! Without that information a lot of time can be wasted searching needlessly for “safe food” located in a different terminal! ✓ Got a craving? GD can help!A few days ago I was dying for a burger and fries, real fries but what is a celiac to do? So many restaurants have shared fryers and I have not enjoyed French fries in ages. I’ve lived in my area for many years and thought I knew all the restaurants I could eat at...boy was I wrong! I pulled up the GD app and looked at restaurants around me and sure enough there was a place I had no idea existed where I could order that much craved burger and fries. This place was amazing!
