Wireless sync is also beneficial, but when you restart your computer or router, it sometimes requires manual re-sync. The scanner could be malfunctioning due to remnants of files that were created by updates So perhaps that's something worth looking at. I uninstalled and reinstalled the application after which "magically" it started working again. It's a great app and has lots of options, such as the ability to generate passwords that make passwords that are 99 characters long (as I've tested) and also with options for customization.
