✓ Amazing GameI really like “choose your own adventure” games but hate being pestered to purchase to allow you to pick certain options. This is perfect! The story is super engaging, the artwork is beautiful and the levels are a good difficulty so that you can advance but it’s still a challenge. I’m unsure how much affect the choices have on the story arc but I love the inclusivity of characters as well as the magical element. One of the best free mobile games I’ve ever played - the ads are not pushed into your face and so you can fully immerse in the world. ✓ Great GameI downloaded this game maybe two weeks ago and it is definitely one of my favorite mobile games on my phone. I play it everyday now. I’m really invested into Bailey and her quest to find Lydia…. And maybe extra vested into developing a relationship with the tall dark and handsome Dylan. I’m curious about how these choices impact the game later. For example, if you choose one boy over a different one… if that changes the outcome of the story. From a game dev standpoint, I haven’t run into any bugs. I did see a power up not work on a piece that was on the board though. But no biggie. I’m very happy I found this game. ✓ Pretty funI’m liking this game so far, I like match/puzzle games and this one has the added story line that’s unique and interesting. I’m on level 788 and it hasn’t become too difficult or impossible to progress like some similar games do, it’s just the right amount of easy and difficult puzzles and it doesn’t try to make you buy things either. There’s very limited ads, which is also nice. I actually wouldn’t mind watching more ads for extra turns or lives. I like getting to choose which way the story goes (for the most part), the only thing I don’t really like is it tries to make me flirt with everyone. Maybe you could pick what your interests are or orientation is at the beginning so it’s not so annoying during the game. My only complaint is that the frogs sometimes go to completely random and unhelpful places. It’s really frustrating when I have one more turn and the frog goes somewhere stupid! Definitely a unique experience and am thinking of restarting it to continue playing. I really enjoyed the story line and everything in the game. I hope the developers are going to continue to create more chapters for the characters because it would be awesome to see more adventures of them or maybe even create new chapters of each character, their perspectives or own adventures. It would be unfortunate to just end the story and only be able to play the matching portion because it all ties together and is a major part of what makes this game so unique and fun. You do the match 3 game to earn gems to continue the story, BUT the story scenes only cost 1 or 2 gems so it’s super easy to get them. PLUS THIS GAME CAN BE PLAYED WITHOUT SPENDING MONEY!! I can’t tell you how frustrating some visual novels or dating sim apps are when it makes you use real life currency in order to pick the right answer. ✓ SUPER satisfyingMost match 3 games are both marketed to be a different game completely and the levels take weeks to complete unless you pay hundreds of dollars. Switchcraft is nothing like that! It’s marketed as the game it actually is, and the levels are easy enough to beat that it takes a few tries on the harder levels but you can do it without spending too much money (and only use the coins on the power-ups, those REALLY help). It’s nice to have the match 3 aspect not be overly complicated and take forever to get through because it makes the story worth playing and doesn’t make me so bored I delete it. ✓ The one that survived.I would routinely play and download multiple match-3 games. You know the endless cycle; out of lives in one, play another, wait for the heart cooldowns, rotate. Switchcraft is the only one I have now. It’s not bombarding you with events and paywalls and dailies. I play and it doesn’t feel like the randomized difficulty to make you purchase in game content. And if I run out of lives I can just play the story. The characters are diverse in a way, but I will say they all feel very immature and quippy for shallow humor. They keep going to the most pointless things and aren’t helpful when you set them off. One of them got rid of a block that didn’t need to be gone when I really needed the frog to go somewhere else that actually would’ve helped me. Also it should not cost 900 coins for gaining back lives and for 5 extra moves when we have to play so many levels to achieve that many coins - which is hard to do when you can’t get past a certain level for a while. ✓ Way more than just a match 3 game :)I picked this game up because of a friend and unexpectedly fell in love! Originally I was just in it because I wanted a new match 3 game but I had accumulated a lot of magicka (the story currency) so I binged a lot of the story in my first week! The story is compelling and has me completely hooked, I love that your decisions have real consequences, And I absolutely love that the cast has so many lgbt+ / poc characters! I love that this game is also constantly making changes and improvements. My one suggestion for the devs would be to maybe have the room decorations have some benefits when playing the match 3 part of the game? Like maybe an increased rate of a certain colour of gem if you have a full set / certain combo of items, or something like that :) Other than that I don’t really have too much motivation to collect room decorations, pretty as they are haha. All in all though I definitely recommend this game to anyone, especially if you like games where your choices actually matter, you get to romance both guys And girls in your romance options, and (of course) you like match 3 games, you definitely won’t be disappointed. ✓ Loving it!I love it! I’m up to level 95 for the puzzles but still early in the story (chapter 5). I really enjoy the art style and the music fits perfectly with the story they’re create. I also love how you’re not having to spend money on this game or watch non stop ads all the time to get the “best outcomes” like a lot of other interactive stories available. The only thing is I wish some of the story parts were a little longer with maybe a few more choices and interactions. Maybe instead of 10 or so stages of each chapter maybe around 5 to 7 stages of each chapter to get more story time? But otherwise, amazing!! ✓ AmazingThis game is amazing especially the times she has a vision, I really recommend this game if you are really into mystery’s, missing people, and cliff hangers ( also if you don’t cliff hangers are they are something that like you get really exited about something and then 2 seconds after that it just ends, but I don’t mean it just ends forever I mean till the next episode). ✓ After 10+ years, I finally found you!I loved Puzzle Quest 2, and I haven’t found a great replacement until now, 10+ years later. From the tutorial through now (I’m currently at level 187 and in chapter 11), this is one of the best games I have come across in a long time. The artwork is phenomenal. There are a variety of unique challenges. There are plenty of opportunities for earning rewards and boosts. Representation and inclusivity feel authentically & naturally woven into a compelling storyline. As an LGBTQ+ woman of color and DEI professional, I rarely get to see myself and marginalized communities represented so meaningfully. I can’t express how much this means to me. It’s so hard to put this game down, and yet when you do, you don’t have to worry about losing out on things. There are pockets of challenging levels, but they don’t seem entirely unreasonable. Patience will get you through. So far, I haven’t come across a level that required power-ups to pass the level. This game is impressive on so many levels. Unlike other choose your choice games, you don’t have to spend diamonds to choose choices which affect the storyline significantly. I would suggest some changes though: some levels could be super hard (level 41 I couldn’t get done after 10 tries 😂) and yeah. Also could we choose our character? The overall game design is so beautiful, all of the characters are gorgeous and so are the settings and the background of the match game. I especially love the little crystal frogs! The story is also very enjoyable and mysterious without being too dark. The story features of casting spells, fitting pieces together and digging things up are very fun and make an immersive experience. I also really love how the romance is optional!! I would rather get on with the plot line so having the choice of not doing anything romantic is great! It’s very easy to quickly build up a large collection of gems from playing the match game so you can binge the story in one go. You also get a lot of free gifts and often receive unlimited lives! The only this I dislike about it is not being able to personalize the character and having to follow the side stories. Those are really a waste of stars when that are mostly irrelevant to the main story. Additionally, there should be story options where you can choose which story to follow and complete instead of just chasing after Lydia. The story is riveting, the characters are interesting, it’s LGBTQ+ inclusive, and romance isn’t even the main aspect of the story which makes it feel more realistic. Very enjoyable puzzles (some of them really challenging), visual side great and suits the story, music and sounds are a vital part of the experience. Story? Well, maybe it is not the pinnacle of writing in games, but I was still pleasantly surprised. It gets quite interesting; I strongly advise to farm gems before reading, because it might be difficult to stop. Characters gain quite a lot of depth as the plot progresses. Yes, they are sometimes annoying, make stupid decisions, behave in irrational or downright terrible way, but that makes them human. The character and relationship development is for me the best part of the story. Game is truly free to play and win. With this game I had to make an exception to sing its praises, because omg! Not only is the matching game fun, (few glitches but nothing major,) but more importantly, the storyline features an at least half queer cast so far, and most of the “non-queer” characters just haven’t been revealed as any particular orientation yet. It also features a majority BIPOC cast, and a major character in a wheelchair forwhom the chair is only a small part of her character! This was such a breath of fresh air for me. It’s not a story that was advertised as having any of these things— it just sold itself as a fun magical mystery story, and it is, but the sheer casualness of all this positive representation makes me so happy and is something I really want more of! ✓ What the hell is with the frogs and rewards?Hey, Wooga. I downloaded Switchcraft a long time ago. I love this game, but as of late I’ve been finding myself extremely frustrated with a few aspects. 1. Why are the frogs so stupid? Before they were updated, the frogs were actually useful. They would help you with your objective. But now, unless I summon an army of them with the rainbow ball, they do the least helpful thing ever. For example, instead of breaking the gem underneath a key or fox, they just break a box! The box doesn’t matter! Don’t even get me started on their decision making when I fuse them with a line gem or a bomb gem. They go for the place they’d help the least- it’s like they’re doing it on purpose. Please make them like they used to be. Right now they’re virtually useless. 2. Bad reward system I have to watch ads to be able to beat most levels. I can’t get enough coins, both from level rewards, from Magnus, or ads. The price to buy more lives (900) doesn’t seem like much at first, but when you consider that you get mostly 20 coins from everything, it’s not worth it, and just a waste of money. I remember when Magnus would give you useful power ups all the time, and the ads would too. Now most of what you get is just collection items. The infinite lives are pretty useful, but I can only get them once in a while. Either lower prices significantly or increase rewards- simple. Now, for the level rewards specifically- •what’s with the magicka earning for hard and super hard levels? I think that a hard level should give you two magicka, and a super hard should give you three. •Please make the coin rewards greater. 50 coins for beating a level and increase it by 50 for each difficulty, perhaps? ✓ SwitchCraft is amazing!!!!!!I’ve always loved playing puzzles but they’ve always lacked something. SwitchCraft has found a way for me to fall in love with the unique puzzles and interactive story. The storyline is exciting and I find that I enjoy this as much as I would a good book. The sound effects and music track are completely calming. The characters are enticing and nuanced. The graphics and artistry are amazing for a puzzle game. I like that during the puzzle game you’re not being timed. It’s only based off how many moves you make. I like how crystals and casting spells are incorporated throughout the puzzles and the story. I adore Baileys dorm and how much that is incorporated into the game. There are even no intrusive ads - the only ads you see are ones you choose to for extra bonuses! There are very challenging levels that take many tries to beat, but all are doable without buying premium boosters - you get enough for free from daily bonuses. I’ve just finished chapter 21 of the story and finally ran out of crystals (earned from playing the game + getting one per 5 ads watched) from the released levels of the game. ✓ NostalgicI am not sure if anyone remembers Purple Moon games such as Rockett’s New School but I was a huge fan of them as a kid (definitely dating myself here). They were thoughtfully written and involved social decision-making with realistic consequences to your actions. Switchcraft giving me the nostalgia for those games as it is also thoughtfully written and covers important social topics (i.e. mental health) without the cheesy after school special vibe. You can play the game however you like. You can alienate people or keep them close, focus on completing puzzles exclusively, then binge the story later when you feel like it, or alternate back and forth (puzzle completion unlocks story). The puzzle itself has some fun power ups and challenges and I like how they found a way to tie in its relevance to the story. I didn’t think this game was for me initially based on the dating-sim-like thumbnails, but then I saw a glowing review for it and decided to see for myself. Clearly effort went into every aspect of the game and that makes it a great experience. There is an imbalance there, though. Being at level 416, I feel as though I’m not that far into the story. Every episode is so short that unless you save up currency and then binge them, they don’t make much sense as standalone pieces of the story (this is easy at first but becomes difficult the more levels you do).
