✓ Glitch in the gameLevel 403: Need to collect stars, however when there’s no moves left and shuffling is done no stars re-appear. Therefore game has a glitch that needs fixing. I lost several lives due to it and it makes it harder to pass this level. Also, everything is super expensive. Hard to get through levels without boosters. Which means I have to spend money that I don’t have. Find this really inconvenient. Rewards after each level should be slightly higher, so you can actually enjoy game more. Otherwise, game has beautiful art work and story line is interesting..Version: 1.1.1
✓ Fun but glitchyThe story is really cute and the matching can be fun but has many small annoyances that constantly make me take breaks from the game and keep it from getting 5 stars. -sometimes special matches don’t make the special crystal- not only annoying but can be a make or break on levels -events not showing- “exams” event was supposed to have started yet after one day the exam is gone and I can no longer earn frogs from completing levels even though the event had many days left. Also had the exam not show until only a few hours left even though I’m on the game multiple times daily -frog programing is horrible- frogs will often “clear” away blocks that are pointless rather than actually going for quest related items (say ghosts or special blocks) -amount of memory stones required for story levels is ridiculously high. You get very little story for what is required and distracts from the story. Some of these are far more frustrating than others as they can make already challenging levels even worse when it means losing the level rather than having won it. The game itself is very cute with a cute story and the variety of level goals is nice and unique but glitches distract from the game..Version: 1.8.0
✓ I’m sad nowThis is a beautiful game but saddening how it has no verification or account to go with it. i lost everything. i was cleaning up my phone and by mistake deleted the app. in realising my mistake i hastily downloaded it back only to find all my progress gone! i was on level 114 and in chapter 9 and i can’t get it back. i hope that the next update has something to save your progress 😔🥺.Version: 0.34.2
✓ The Best Game Till It’s NotThis game is a solid 5 for me. Or at least, it was. Beautiful, bright, and colorful with gorgeous, serene music and lovely sound effects. The story part is fine, the potion making is pretty useless, but what kept me logging in daily was the gameplay. You could watch ads and get special power ups or infinity lives, sometimes I might get stuck but I eventually made it through so I never got frustrated. I looked FORWARD to playing every day. Some boards felt like actual puzzles to figure out which made it more than just a match 3 game. But I’m ready to uninstall which is disappointing. Somehow the game just downgraded, boards were almost impossible to pass, every one was a slog. Then, somehow the frogs got WAY stupid and would help you lose levels vs winning them. THEN, they took out the events (where you earn different power ups and coins), which made the boards even MORE difficult to pass. And I’m not quitting on say, board 100-something, I’m currently on level 2790 (!) and I think I’ll just quit. I use to play certain boards 20 times before I passed and still be happy to play. But without the events to build up power ups without spending real money, it’s not fun anymore or challenging, just feels broken..Version: 2.4.3
✓ Good up to a point, but then…This plot-driven puzzle/visual novel game was quite charming and fun, with well-drawn artwork and genuine choices to be made throughout as you navigate this compelling world of witches, warlocks and exploding gems(!) Sadly, things take a turn for the worst around level 47, when it becomes increasingly clear that in order to proceed through the puzzle levels pure skill or luck just ain’t enough. You need to spend oodles of hard cash, and all the time and effort you’ve invested in this game up until now has just been a lead-on to that. Not me, hombre. As soon as the scam was revealed I quickly uninstalled the game, with the £4.49 they wanted for a ‘beginners pack’ of 2000 going destined for Christmas presents instead. Shame, because I’d like to know what’ll happen next… but you ain’t pumping me for quarters at such a difficult cost-of-living crisis. Nice try, though now 😜.Version: 2.4.3
✓ Where are the levels??I absolutely love this game and am invested in the story but they are constantly running out of levels. I can’t begin to explain how many times I am playing and out of nowhere suddenly I get a msg that more levels are “coming soon”. This time has been the worst - I’m now on week 2 with no levels and no indication when nee ones are coming. It happens so often that when I can play I feel that every single level may be the last and it’s hard to stay connected when I’m always wondering if I won’t be moving on..Version: 1.3.2

✓ Difficult LevelsI’ve been playing this game for about a few months and I’ve really enjoyed the story aspect tied into the levels. My only complaint is that some levels are extremely difficult to a point where i’m trying to pass it for a week. It is also rare that I have any power ups available to help with the levels. It seems impossible to get those without buying them. Anyways i’m on level 263 which isn’t even labeled as hard, and i have been stuck for a few days now and don’t really have the money to buy anything. I’ve had this issue with several other levels which makes the game not as fun anymore. I like a challenging game but not to a point where it takes me days to accomplish one level..Version: 2.4.3
✓ Silly gameI’m level 173, chapter 6 and the story line hasn’t progressed, just more characters have been added. It’s clearly designed to go so far in and then makes it impossible to win a level without buying add ons. The frog gem (a trick feature supposed to hit the target gems to help you win) starts hitting the gems that make it harder to win. It’s great for when you’re sick in bed, annoying the rest of the time.Version: 0.39.0
✓ UnstableI love this game truly. I’m invested in the characters and the story and the gameplay has found a good middle ground between easy and insanely difficult. You definitely don’t have to spend money if you don’t want too but I don’t mind buying packs to support the devs of this incredible game. The problem however is that the game seems very unstable. It crashes a lot and, in my personal experience, at the worst time. I’ll have all three powerups during focus meditation and go for a super hard level and bam it crashes and I lose my powerups and end up stuck on a level for days. Or I’ll pay the 900 coins for the extra moves and it’ll crash making me lose the 900 and also have to restart the level. This keeps happening and it gets disheartening because in the long run I’m losing actual money I’ve paid for in game stuff because it keeps crashing. If this is fixed or at least somewhat stabilized I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and give this game the five star review it rightly deserves. If things don’t change however, I can’t see myself playing it for a whole lot longer :( Side note, I would LOVE to be able to decorate Bailey’s dorm room. ✓ SoftlockedI started playing the game about 10 minutes ago and discovered a softlock where the game won’t let you past level 3 because the tutorial disables functional ui elements. If this issue is resolved I’ll look into updating this review accordingly. ✓ More Romance Options?I love this game, it’s super fun and the storyline is fascinating, but I wish there were more romance options. And that the only option for a queer romance is a cop who is an adult, seeing as the protag is a freshman in college. It isn’t an appropriate relationship, imo. But I would be able to look over that if there were any other female romance options. Which there isn’t, as far as I’m aware. I would very much like it if more romance options were added, specifically queer romance options, like another girl or an enby person. I’m not mad enough to delete the game, I’m just disappointed and probably won’t recommend it without fair warning of the lack of romantic prospects..Version: 1.12.2

✓ Level 41 KILLS all momentum and desire to keep playing.This game was relatively easy and engaging in the beginning. the story is strong and i kept coming back to play. however, it takes a MASSIVE difficulty spike at level 41. it got to the point i started looking up tutorials online. and then i (and other players) noticed something. level 41 used to be easier. it used to be 17 butterflies with 24 moves. however, they changed it to 21 butterflies with 17 moves. why? my guess is to make more money. i’m not about to sink my money into a game that spikes the difficulty and artificially changes difficulty just to make a quick buck. i was invested in the story, but this is a dealbreaker. i’m probably going to end up deleting this game because of this. do not download this game unless this gets patched (which i doubt it will be because according to other users this has been a problem for almost a year)..Version: 2.4.3
✓ Too hard to play for long without spending bigI really like this game, but it is just too frustrating. So much about it is good, but the matching just gets harder and harder as you go through, and as you usually only win one magika, it takes beating two matching games to get one tiny section of story. There is only one other way to earn magika, and that’s limited to one per day. The matching game has issues- the frogs are next to useless; the wobble is hardly ever the best option; you earn a minuscule amount coins compared to the cost of the aids; you need aids to complete almost every match after a certain level. I would usually be happy to spend a bit of money here and there on a game, but with this one you would need to spend way too much, and it doesn’t even guarantee that you will pass that level anyway. You could use multiple aids and still not pass. Altogether, great game but don’t even bother starting it unless you are prepared to spend a lot!.Version: 0.42.1

✓ Good game, not so good representation :/I thoroughly enjoy this game. The story is interesting. The game play is fun. However, I was very disappointed to find that there is no feature that allows you to decide what gender(s) you would like your love interests to be, despite advertising this game as having LGBT representation. This is the only episodic story game I've come across without this feature. As a lesbian, I strongly dislike having to sit through many scenes of men flirting with me. But there's a queer side character so I guess that's the representation they are referring to in their ads? Forever the side kick, I suppose :/ I think the game has real potential, just misleading ads regarding their inclusivity. ✓ Great Game, Crashes OftenGreat game, crashes a lot, customer support was zero help. I have absolutely loved this game and it’s entirety since I started playing it. The storyline is great, the choices are good, and the matching game isn’t too difficult. However, over the last week it has started crashing all the time. Either right when I go to open a level after I’ve used a power up, right after I’ve given coins to extend a level and then I lose all the coins when I get back in, so I’ll spend 900 coins on a level and then they’re just gone, or right when I’m close to the end of a level it will crash. I submitted a case in the system and didn’t hear anything for a while. Then all of a sudden received two emails back to back, first one telling me how they were going to try and resolve it and the second saying they were closing the conversation because I was already being assisted which is impossible because I had just received both messages. After losing 900 coins for the 3rd time I almost deleted the app but I’m giving it a few more days to sort itself out before I do that..Version: 1.5.1
✓ Fun at first, love the story line thoughThis game is truly the ONLY matching game I’ve ever played. Always said I wouldn’t download one and I do noooot regret this one. It’s actually fun. My only problem/negative criticism is that the further you go, the most gems it takes for each little chapter and it’s unfair/annoying because the stories in between levels don’t get longer/more choices but you STILL have to do 2+ levels to get the gems. It made me not want to play the game anymore because the reward was/is not worth the work. I’d suggest the game creators to keep it to one gem per level or per story chapter or, make the stories that require 2+ gems longer. You do a great job of hooking the consumer in, but since the reward does not equal the work you are putting in (as a user) it will make the players exit the app and play less and less (UX/design standpoint ).Version: 1.15.0

You play for the story line, which is interesting but often overshadowed by how woke them game tries to be; characters are pretty two-dimensional, but it’s a puzzle game not a novel, so it’s fine. EDIT: I have updated my rating because the game crashes a lot, or kicks you off a level if you switch to a different app for five minutes. This causes you to lose your life and any power-ups you have used. I reached out to the company about this and they said it’s to prevent cheating and will not change this. I’ve lost enough lives/coin because of those crashes I probably won’t play anymore..Version: 1.3.2

✓ Level generator needs big improvementUpdated; Just know that this game can be extremely frustrating due to terrible randomization for the more cramped levels (these will generally be the “super hard” levels that I’ve mostly only been able to get through on pure luck). It makes me absolutely hate the game, despite having a very well developed story, which I adore. To be honest, it’s fun and addicting but the occasional crashes, glitchy frog finals where you clearly used a lot of frogs but the game doesn’t count them sometimes, and the level generator / gem randomization mechanic makes it frustrating to play, to the point where I considered putting it down for good multiple times. Of course, I haven’t. I think the developers know exactly what they’re doing. Like, it never fails to ask you if you’re sure you want to play the level again and lose your progress with the frog count for the frog finals while offering you the option of wasting 900 coins for 5 extra moves (absolutely never worth it), but when you win, it isn’t so consistent with keeping count..Version: 1.9.0

✓ Update broke the gameThe game is enticing, if frustrating at times. The frogs still do not often help towards the objectives (all you need is one last star, and it is the last move, you trigger a frog…and it hops onto a mist block. Level lost.) The update has not only wiped all the progress from the ongoing event, having us start from the first level, but with only 1 day left, but has also broken the game, that now crashes sometimes mid level, sometimes when opening a level, sometimes during ads or during the story, and results in loss of progress AND loss of hearts. You click to open a level, and the game crashes, but when it reopens, the life was lost, without even getting a chance at the level. Please fix it..Version: 2.1.0
✓ Idk what to do when this happenedThe game play was fun and frankly addicting ( beside the super hard puzzle that literally make me want to lose my mind) until this happened . After level 55 , you unlock vision potions and Rosie was guiding you around . But when the “ drag the fragment “ part comes, I can’t do anything . It was just the frozen background and I tried taping and staging things like the stars. Its strangled me there and I couldn’t continue anything. ✓ DisappointingI’ve been playing for a while now (on level 1963, book II, ch. 5) and it’s getting annoying and boring. Recently, the levels have been feeling more pay-to-win than just challenging puzzles. Certainly not the same relaxing game it was before. As for the story, I want to love it but it drags on, feels like choices don’t matter and the romance side of things is basically pointless. I haven’t even seen my chosen romantic interest in many chapters. The cost per story element is so high for such little story progression. The art is great and the theming of the app is fun but if you’re trying to get something out of the story, there’s not much. (Spoilers ahead) the Lydia plot line continues on for too long, like I want to do something else. I was excited to move on to a different plot after we find her but here we are again skipping school and ignoring the fact that we go to a magic uni?? We don’t get to see magic classes or flesh that world out more, or anything outside of this Lydia obsession. She’s not even interesting and we got so little time between her and Bailey in the beginning that it doesn’t feel like they’re even really friends other than what we’re told. The world doesn’t feel alive, it’s just characters moving from one location to another having flat conversations and making confusing decisions. They could remove the magic elements from the story and it wouldn’t actually change much which is sad. I don’t know if I’ll finish the story at this point..Version: 2.0.2

✓ Loved the game until…I loved the game and spent $20+ per week. On April 30th I spent $10 and spent an hour and a half gaining Magicka and leveling up. I had bought a new iPad and wanted to continue playing on that, so I downloaded it and opened it and it reverted me back to a previous time where I had half the Magicka I had amassed. I’m not sure if the levels went down, because I don’t pay attention to that, but I’m guessing it did. I reached out to support immediately and Diego got back to me on May 1st. I replied on May 2nd with info they requested and Diego responded the same day saying they would check into it. I still hadn’t heard anything by May 8th, so I reached out again, no reply. I reached out yet again on May 11th, still no reply. After such discouraging treatment from support and their apparent lack of wanting to help me recover what I lost, I am done with this game. I don’t recommend spending any money, if you lose it somehow, no one will help you..Version: 1.11.0
✓ Too much of that puzzle gameSo switchcraft is a fun game, it really is. I like the exciting story and the choices you can make, and all the interactive stuff is fun. The only problem is that between every single episode, you have to play this dumb generic puzzle game. It isn’t hard or anything, but sometimes it can be frustrating because it is hard sometimes to get all the things with the limited moves, and I just want to get on with the story already. These types of puzzle games are just overrated in my opinion, and it seems like every single mobile game has it in them somehow. I’m not saying you should completely get rid of it, it’s just annoying how we have to play it after every single episode. Maybe we shouldn’t have to play it as often..Version: 1.13.2
