AudioKit Retro Piano for Negative User Reviews

Shockingly lacking in sonic qualityIt’s crap I can’t understand the exemplar reviews. ..sonically lacking in every way 🧩.Version: 1.2

I like it but...This seems like a work in progress... as if this is still in a beta form. I’ve experienced note drops while playing it with a midi controller.. I don’t believe it to be due to polyphony issues as I’m playing normal and not too aggressive nor with a foot pedal... Also the volume on the patches are way too loud and distorted. Every time you choose a new patch, the main volume goes to max with some of them ...but all of them are still too loud so you’re constantly messing with the volume after each selection.. annoying. Then comes the cracklings. i get the vinyl effect and I can dig that, but cpu crackles are distinct and you need to drive the buffer way up and still it happens. Overall the sound of it is what is great about it and I’m sure after a few updates, (if they realize this is important) it should be an amazing tool in your AU arsenal amd I’ll be back here to re visit and edit my review..Version: 1.0

Constant clippingSeems to be a running trend with every instrument I’ve downloaded from audiokit. Even with the volume down to 25, it constantly clicks and pops. No matter what adjustments I make. Have yet to be impressed with any of the instruments. Update: fixed the clipping issue, but now, since the most recent update of both iOS and GarageBand, everything I’ve recorded with retro piano in it, keeps going back to the original welcome sound. Doesn’t matter what adjustments I make. Which is disappointing because I recorded quite a few songs with this plugin..Version: 1.2.1

“Limited Edition” (J/k!)Pretending this is a $99 app on sale for $2.99 after it was supposedly limited edition and “sold out” - it’s too much. Laughable amateur hour marketing..Version: 1.3

Doesnt with with MIDI keyboardAll other AudioKit apps work fine with my AKAI Mini MPK3 except this one..Version: 1.3.5

Cool app but there’s an audio unit extension bugThanks for this cool little app. Been enjoying it but when I tried to record using audio unit extension in GarageBand it keeps quitting unexpectedly. Happens on iPad Air 2 and iPhone 11. I think there might be a bug? Thanks!.Version: 1.0.2

Why delete the keyboardWhy just not fix the keyboard instead of deleting stuff now I can't get to the app settings what used to be there that used to work but now I can't get to Them.Version: 1.3

Another AudioUnit that stops working after awhileI’ve purchased everything they’ve ever made because I liked the idea behind AudioKit and wanted to support it. However, bot this as their FM AU no longer save states when I save the song. Just opened up an old tune and noticed instruments seemed to be missing. Tracked it down to this AU and the only way I could get it to make ANY noise was to change the preset. Which, of course, loses whatever changes you’d made the last time you opened it. As a result, I have to give it one star as a warning. As I said on their other app, it really doesn’t matter that it’s cheap if it doesn’t work (or, at some point in the future, won’t work because their efforts are focused on their new apps while these old ones go stale. Note that the positive reviews are from YEARS ago. Be warned..Version: 1.3.5

What’s happened? So far, you have cranked out some amazing simulations; and now this? If it’s a joke, it’s decidedly not funny. How about a real Rhodes sim, complete with that grimy sound one only gets from using an old electric piano that’s been sitting in the studio since the 1960s? That would make my summer, truly… I’m really confused. Is this how you respond to negative comments? I’ll be brief. I wrote the original review because this release didn’t live up to your previous releases. I have been nothing short of astounded by synth one, d-1, and fm player are all literally breathtaking. Retro player is not, IMO. My response was relatively free of snarky comments; your response was not. Retro player needs work. It’s beyond belief that you would offer a racist comment in a review. Yes, comments that refer to a perceived mental deficiency is racist; we live in the 21st century. I’ll continue you try out, and in all probability use your creations; but you’ve lost all my respect. You’ll notice I’ve rereviewed player one. That as good as its going to get, barring an overhaul..Version: 1.2

Cool app! But i just want a built in way to record my playingThats all.Version: 1.0.2

DAW Support? This is a great app but I was disappointed to find I could not have it open in my DAW of choice, GarageBand. I was hoping this is just something on my end and not the app it self. I would love to use these samples in a DAW as they are excellent. If something is wrong on my end I would like to be contacted with some support! Thank you!.Version: 1.2

Its okayWhere’s the MIDI at?I tried to use this piano with GeoShred but nothing happened..Version: 1.0

Great SoundsLove the tones achievable on this app. Started playing on it as a stand-alone, got psyched to go record my idea in Garage Band, but no luck. It wont show up as an option in the audio unit extensions. I tried reinstalling the app and it still wont work. It shows up on my iPhone, but not on my iPad, and that’s what I use to record my music. Bummer. Any suggestions?.Version: 1.2

DSP all over the placeSamples sound good but while using in AUM I get DSP fluctuations between 15%-65%+ with 512 buffer rate on an iPhone 7plus..Version: 1.0

Beware of the reviewsThis app was a limited edition free app on its original release, people tend to like free regardless of capabilities in general. The app periodically comes back on sale when AudioKit have a new release, so at the right price it’s no more than a cheap coffee to go. I’m not really sure what the need is for this app., it doesn’t do anything usable, it’s a so so Soundfont style piano sound with a soft synth brass layer and vinyl noise sound, all adjustable. Yes, it’s niche, but you’d never use it for anything in any track you produce so as a paid app I’m not sure you should ever contemplate paying out for it. Their 3 synth apps are another beast entirely, Synth One is free and easily a top 10 iOS synth whether paid or not. My advice, buy their excellent Synth D1 app, and download their free Synth One app as well..Version: 1.3.2
