Strength by Mari for Positive User Reviews

Long time slay app userPrevious version of the slay app (pre-2023) worked fine for me. Professionally, I am a software testing leader for apps in the healthcare industry. Sure the slay app crashed at times, and was sometimes a bit wonky- but I was still able to utilize, get my workouts in, track my sets, etc. It did the job, and helped me push my fitness capabilities. I enjoyed the simple format and ease of use. The new app update (2023) is fantastic. Still has all the workouts I know and love in a very similar, but upgraded format. The look and feel is more chic and more mature (less Barbie pink). The tracking is great and works well, took me just a couple minutes to navigate the new format, but it’s just as easy to use, if not easier than previous version. I haven’t dug into the new workout content, as I’m currently active in a program. But everything looks great and works great. With the help of Mari’s program, I’ve lost 33 lbs and counting since I started using this App..Version: 2.0.0

Get this app ASAPI’ve tried many apps in the past and Mari just gets it. I love that there is a demonstration of the exercise that you will be doing, the amount of rep or time and rest time is included as well. You can even add as many picture as you want to track your progress. The app is pretty user friendly and oh you even have the option to put the amount of weight that you did ( whether it’s body or weights)..Version: 1.8.7

Great App, Few ImprovementsI love this app and Mari’s workouts have helped me lose about 35 pounds so far. I appreciate the descriptions and videos that model each set. The only improvements I’d like to see are specific instructions about switching sides during a set. For example, it’s not always clear if I’m supposed to do 40 lunges per leg or 40 lunges total meaning 20 per leg. So far I’ve been able to figure out a solution or I go with what makes the most sense or feels the most natural. I’d also like to see improvements to the timers. It would be very helpful to have a sound for counting down or for when the set ends. I’ve noticed my phone screen will often fall asleep because it doesn’t register that a timer is counting down. Other fitness apps I’ve used won’t allow your phone screen to shut off if a timer is going. Overall I feel this is a great app and fitness routine to help ease you into healthier lifestyle changes..Version: 1.8.2

Easy, quick and getting resultsIf you’re anything like me I hate long workouts and I like the privacy of my own home. This is working really well for me, I allow 30-40 min and feel great for it. Exercises are well explained and it’s very easy to follow. Only thing missing is an optional stretch each day..Version: 1.8.16

Easy to follow workoutsI’m really enjoying my workouts using the app, you can choose your fitness level beforehand and once I’ve been back in the gym for a few more weeks, I plan to shift up a level to keep challenging myself. It’s easy to follow and tick off your sets. Plus, how cute is the little congratulations at the end of the workout?! Love it..Version: 1.3.2

SLAYYYYAbsolutely love this app! It tells you exactly what to do and how to do it. You can choose whatever level you want to try and the video will show you how to do it. It just doesn’t get better then that!!!.Version: 1.7.1

Loving the new updates!I have been doing Mari’s workouts on and off since 2017. I have love every new version from the PDF’s to the newest version of the app. I love how it keeps track of everything for me so I don’t have to write it all down myself. I haven’t tried any of the recipes yet but I am looking forward to doing so very soon on the near future. Thank you Mari for creating these Slay guides!.Version: 1.7.1

Good overallA little tough to follow and get used to at first but overall a pretty good App!.Version: 1.7.0

Love the app but has some bugsI’ve been using Maris guides all the way back to the OG PDFs, so I was super excited for the app. The guides are no problem and it’s super cool that we have recipes and access to challenges now. However, I have lost my progress for the guides twice now since the update. I had to take a week off for health reasons and when I went to go back to the gym all my progress in the app was gone. Thank goodness I also hard copy it or else I would’ve had to start all over. Also my progress photos don’t physical show anymore. I can click on the empty space where they are and see the date and the description I wrote with it but the photos themselves don’t show up. Wish it could keep my progress. Other than that it’s great..Version: 1.7.1

I love uMy favourite thing about this app is that it doesn’t track the days, just your physical progress which is such a healthy perspective as it helps you to choose to work out because you want to feel good.Version: 1.8.4

Great attention to detailDesigned with the user experience in mind. So easy to use and so many thoughtful features. 1000% happy with my subscription. Best fitness app on the market..Version: 1.0.1

App needs work, but the workouts are great!I’ve had Maris guides for years. I absolutely love them. Every time I’m consistently using them, I notice big changes in both my physical and mental health! I finally decided to try the app so I didn’t have to mess with the pdf versions anymore, and I will say it is nice to have. I love being able to track my reps and weight history, as well as watch informative clips on certain movements. I also enjoy the recipe section! However, there are a few glitches that I hope they’re able to fix. For one, my progress photos never save. I’ve uploaded them a few times, but they just disappear. Second, I like to switch out certain exercises for another, but finding the exact exercise I want on the app is a challenge. I’m hoping there will be a search feature eventually where I can type in the exercise I’m looking for instead of having to scroll through an entire category of exercises (many of which are duplicated)..Version: 1.7.2

Great workout- app needs some TLCLove Mari and her workouts. The video at the start plays in between opening and closing the app to change music etc or if the phone locks during the workout 😊.Version: 1.7.0

Love the update - would like pictures of the moves tooAny chance you can add a few pictures of the moves? Sometimes I just need a quick refresher and I don’t want to wait for the video to load. The video is definitely helpful when I don’t know the move or need help on the form. Great updates and love the transform program!.Version: 1.7.0

Good workouts so far..wouldn’t mind seeing a couple of additionsThere are a few things I’d like to see incorporated into this app to push it to 5 stars. I wish there was an option to add sets and/or exercises to your day. There are a few goals I’m working on outside of the plans and would like to have it all in one place. Also it would be nice to be able to see upcoming days workouts and not just the next workout - I like to look ahead. One more thing would be a rest timer in the app so I don’t have to constantly switch between my timer app during rests. Overall the home workouts are good so far..excited to try the gym ones once they reopen..Version: 1.1.23

I love the content but several glitchesI have been following Mari forever, purchased original digital guides, and was so excited about the app. The original app was great but so glad it was updated with more workouts and the ability to swap exercises. My only issue is that it’s fairly glitchy. Every time I load the app I get a flash of a welcome message but it never plays in full just goes away. Also I’ve been noticing more frequently that I’m having to select “track” several times before it will recognize that an exercise was complete. I’ve also had days that every exercise is marked completed, workout complete selected but the day itself is not tracked as complete on the ‘Full Plan’ view with a check mark. Also, occasionally when you switch some exercises it doesn’t update reps. For example I switched out 10min cardio for leg press and it showed leg press for 10min instead of reps/weight. I do make sure it stays updated and completely refresh it to see if that helps but it typically does not. I’m sure these are just growing pains since the big update, but I wanted to give the feedback. The glitches can make it frustrating to use and accurately track workouts..Version: 1.7.1

Love! But..Love the workouts and how they are tailored for different levels. This really makes it easy to stick to and encouraging when you feel yourself getting stronger. However, I can’t be the only one who finds it WAY too easy to hit “complete workout” when you don’t mean to. Please move this button. I also find the rest countdown to be fairly glitchy. Sometimes it works and most times it doesn’t..Version: 2.0.9

Best workout app I’ve used!I’ve been excited for this app for months, and now after using it, I can say it’s exceeded all my expectations! For starters, the layout is beautiful and very simple and intuitive to follow and understand. You are easily able to toggle between gym guides and home guides, depending on if you can make it to the gym or not. The feature where you can track how much you lift is going to be so helpful and great to look back on in a few months to see how much stronger I’ve gotten. It feels rewarding to check off each exercise as you go. Each exercise has detailed advice and explanations to make sure you’re performing it correctly and safely. Thank you so much Mari and Greg for creating the app of our dreams!.Version: 1.1.23

Thank you MariThis app is so fun to follow and it feels like such a good workout even in a short time. Love that I can track all of my progress and reps every single day! Can’t wait to do it again tomorrow and the next year! ❤️❤️❤️.Version: 1.1.23

Doesn’t save my data (weights, reps, etc.)I purchased this app for an entire year because I loved Mari’s first gym guides. I regret purchasing it now and wish I would’ve given it a trial run first. Dumb decision on my part. I hate that you can’t see the week laid out. You have to finish each day before seeing the next. The app also did this weird thing where it skipped to week 4 & I wasn’t even through week 2 yet.... it keeps throwing me back & forth. The app also isn’t saving the weight I’m lifting like I expected it to... If there is a space to enter the weight & reps, I would assume it’s supposed to save it....? Just overall really disappointed because I spent a lot of money on this app & it’s basic features don’t even work properly..Version: 1.4.6

Want to love it, needs more featuresI want to love this app but I think it needs a bit more. I don’t mind that there is no free trial. I understand that they have put a lot of work into the app and I was happy to pay 9.99 per month to support Mari and Greg. Now after using it for two weeks now just feel like the content of the app is the same as the home guides and maybe a little less challenging than the home guides. It would be nice to be able to view more than one plan at a time, have a timer for rest between exercises, and some app exclusive content from Mari and Greg. I would also like to be able to look at weight progress per exercise, right now I can track my weight and reps for an exercise but I can’t see previous entries on the same movement without going back through the days or the workout. I like the layout of the app, the style, the video demonstrations, and the team behind the app!.Version: 1.3.2

A must for any fitness level!Mari (and Greg) never fail to go above and beyond in their work. Their passion, dedication and knowledge is so rare. A must download for any fitness level! Well done team..Version: 1.1.23

Good for beginners!I tried Mari’s old PDF gym guides when I first started getting into fitness and found them to be helpful in creating a confident foundation for weight lifting. When the pandemic hit I got the app to transition to home workouts. While the app has served its purpose in helping me stick with my workouts, the price doesn’t seem to be fully justified. The app has continued to be buggy even after updates- difficult to click and enter weights in the tracker/ the app often “forgets” that I already completed a workout and will show the previous day’s workout again. The bugs aren’t a BIG deal, but for over $13 a month, and with a plethora of free workouts on YouTube, it just doesn’t make sense for me anymore!.Version: 1.4.6

Loving it !I loooove Mari. Her workouts are the perfect duration, and the difficult increases perfectly. Love love looooove it 😍.Version: 1.8.1

It’s great but lagsI love the concept and the videos but it always lags and gets out of my workout and resets everything which is frustrating.Version: 1.8.2

4 starsI love this app! The only thing that would make it better would be the option to choose which workout to do next, or at least see the entire guide as an overview so you know which workouts are coming up. Other than that I love the exercises and tracking options!.Version: 1.4.6

Amazing appThis is the best fitness app I've used so far. It's very organized and easy to navigate. She has thought of many different elements. I would like to see an option to add notes to each exercise. There also has been a bug in the app lately and it will close unexpectedly. Otherwise amazing app. Recommend..Version: 1.8.4

I love this app, but it glitches at times!Sometimes I am halfway into the workout and the app shuts off and I have to remove in, it also lags at times and I’m unable to see the full program so everyday is a new workout which is a surprise !.Version: 1.8.4

Amazing app- plz readThe app is freaking awesome. I have tried so many other fitness apps and I hate them because it’s like you have to scroll through hundreds of videos each day and choose a workout. With this, you choose your level and amount of days you want to do per week and then it’s all set up. You open the app and it has a workout for you. Response to all the ppl giving it low ratings: if the workout is to easy, you add weight. Simple. The more weight you use in the workout the harder it will be. It’s your job to challenge yourself and add weight- Mari can’t do that for you. She can only give you exercises to complete. All done. I freaking love this app..Version: 1.0.2

Slay 2022!I love Mari and how far she’s come. Also that she’s so authentic and cares so much about the content she provides for us. She does these workouts, she wants everyone to SLAY not only their workouts but in every area of their lives. Invest in yourself, and embrace the changes that come. Thanks Mari for believing in me, I know that I can achieve my own fitness goals because you’ve shown me how, despite all the challenges someone might face..Version: 1.7.1

Best thing to happen to the fitness app industry!I love everything about this app. They hands down read our brains and made the vision come to life. The way everything is set up is absolutely perfect & so easy to navigate. I’ve read some other reviews of people complaining that it’s not free, Mari has posted before launch that Slay is completely separate from the guides. To leave negative feedback based on cost is shady. I also just want to add, when you pour your blood sweat and tears into something (and the perfection shows). Time needs to be compensated. You’re budgeting for your health, it’s more than worth it. To Mari, Greg & the whole team. Thank you a million times over, you guys are the superheroes that continue so shape and mold us into the best version of ourselves we can ever be!.Version: 1.1.23

Incredible usability and simplicityMaris guides have been a favorite of mine to follow for the sheer reason that her workouts are simple, crazy effective, and can’t really be done no matter what gym you have access to. This app is all of the and more! I love that it’s so straight forward and much like an iPhone, it’s intuitive: you don’t need to be an expert to follow the workouts and the app makes your time working out so seamless. The notes section where you can log your reps and weight used is awesome, and I love that next week I’ll be able to look back later and reference the weight I used in all of my workouts! The progress photo section is such an awesome bonus, I’ve been using an album in my Photos app for months and this is going to be so much easier for me. Mari and Greg have really killed it in making this app not only affordable but in my opinion, one of the best on the market..Version: 1.1.23

The best thing since sliced breadI have been using Maris guides since they first came out! This app is a GAME CHANGER! It’s so seamless and easy to use! You can switch out exercises if you need! The videos are soooo helpful! I would 100/10 recommended this app to anyone who is starting out or looking to change up their fitness and wellness journey 💚💚💚💚.Version: 1.8.1

Easy to follow! These workouts are so good, I actually look forward to them. They aren’t complicated, it’s easy to follow and understand what I’m meant to be doing with Maris videos. Would highly recommend!!.Version: 1.7.1

Amazing for v1!!I’ve been so excited for this app and it did not disappoint. The breakdown on exercises everyday with video and written instruction is so helpful and I love that this is completely different from the original home guides I’ve been using for almost a year. I love that I have access to all plans in one place and that I can choose a plan to fit my schedule. No negatives but some wishes: I would love to easily go back to my previous exercises to look at reps and weight. As of right now there’s a few steps to get back to that screen. I would love a section that talks about warm up, cool down, how long the break between exercises should be, maybe when you should think about increasing weight, etc. I would also love to be able to add video to my progress photo screen! I love this company and will continue to support it! They have completely changed the way I think and feel about exercise!.Version: 1.0.2

Such a simple appLove the absolute simplicity to this app and how it makes fitness enjoyable!.Version: 1.5.3

Amazing workouts but a few suggestionsI’m currently in week 5 of using the slay app. I’m loving the workouts. I used to walk around aimlessly at the gym but now I have so much direction and get in incredible workouts. The only couple of negatives I have to mention are the app is a little glitchy and confusing at times. Each time I open the app, it goes through the sign up and welcome video screen first before allowing me to find the workout I’m up to. I find that some of the workout movements and the number of suggested reps don’t make sense (for example, the barbell 777 movement for biceps - I understand when the required reps are 21 because that’s 7x3 but I don’t understand when the required reps are for example 15). I also find myself putting the workouts in my own order so I’m not going from machine to mat to machine to mat. The order of the workouts often isn’t practical in a busy gym. I’d also love to know how much weight Mari is doing in each video to give me a guide on how much to lift. I kind of go in blindly and guess what weight to use. Apart from that, I’m loving it!!! Great workouts, so sweaty and feel amazing. I’m definitely getting fitter and stronger!!! Will continue for a long time I think!.Version: 1.8.21

So easy to follow!Love how easy it is to follow the guide. Clear instructions with every move, the videos are really helpful. Great for keeping track of weights too..Version: 1.8.16

Mari’s AppFor the people complaining.. I understand a few free trial workouts would be good to see if people like it before they are committed to purchasing but at least If you do month to month you can cancel at anytime so you are only out $10 for a month of her workouts if you decide it’s not for you. Also they are new to the app world so I think for beginners or people that want someone to tell them every workout what they are doing, like I wanted, it’s a great option! Also Bloom, Mari’s guides, and bands have never let me down so I don’t think this app will either! The fact you can’t jump ahead and see other workouts makes it more exciting to me and a challenge that you need to complete one workout to get to the next and you won’t skip workouts! I am looking forward to start the Jan 4th challenge! ❤️ Thank you Mari and Team!.Version: 1.1.23

There is room for growthI love Mari and have been using her gym guides and home guides for a couple of years. The app is very similar(if not the same). I do enjoy being able to log my weights and reps, but I wish it showed previous weights logged. Also, I’ve uploaded a few progress pictures and can’t see any of them. Hopefully that gets worked out! I’d love to see a timer incorporated, especially for abs. Also, the ability to “save” a workout if you aren’t quite finished with it, and to be able to switch between gym and home guides and continue the same pattern(upper body home guide, then head to the gym and do leg day etc,) Hoping these little things get worked out and that the app continues to develop..Version: 1.3.2

It’s your aura and driveI have followed you for awhile. I then joined. You have a gift of captivating and making workouts fun and engaging. I love the food options and choices..Version: 1.7.3

Workouts great, app glitchyThe workouts are amazing. End user improvements would be welcome such as the timer working all the time..Version: 1.7.0

Slay AppLoving the slay app and the exercise programmes, the video demonstrations are fab, better than any PDFS. I would like to see more of a food log that we could link to our exercise programme, maybe a way of calculating and tracking macros would be beneficial as I’m currently using two apps. To have everything under one app would be brill and also move my rating to 5 stars!.Version: 1.7.1

Best app to stay consistent!Been following Mari for over a year now, this app is a great product. It makes the workouts and programs so easy to follow and learn. You can track and keep notes about your workouts, and add progress photos. Ive been using this app a month now and will carry on using it for a long time to come! £10 a month is a bargin! Plus you get random cute notifications to motivate you!.Version: 1.3.2

Better features & more affordable than other appsThis app is easy to use and is simple and cute. I’ve come from using a couple other fitness apps and programs before. I’m comparing this app specifically to Kayla Itsines SWEAT app, Smalletics, and Mari’s old PDF guides. Here’s what I love about the SLAY app and what makes it unique: **more cost friendly than other fitness apps **exercise glossary and dictionaries, and videos of exercises that are easily accessible within the app **the ability to save notes within each specific exercise and see my previous history for the exercise. Saves me time and makes it so much easier. **I can use GYM AND HOME workouts equally without having to switch plans or trainers. Many people are complaining about the subscription. But this is totally normal for fitness businesses when they switch from PDF guides to an app. It’s expected and common. Even so, this app is more cost friendly than a lot of other apps I’ve seen. I personally like the exercise style in the app (no circuits like in the guides) and the ease of use of the app. I’m all for it. This app is brand new and they’re doing a fantastic job so far. GREAT WORK Mari, Greg, and team!!.Version: 1.1.23

Thank you from AustraliaSimple to follow and a slow and steady approach for a long term solution if you are consistent. Thank you Mari..Version: 1.7.1

The update is so so worth it!!I had basically gone through the old app and was on the search for something new when the new app was released. I am so thankful for all the new workouts and different levels!!.Version: 1.8.0

Great app!I have the at home guides already, but decided to try the app out. I love how I can go back and forth between gym/home workouts (once I can go back to the gym), the videos of each move are super helpful, and the coach descriptions are just what you need if the video isn’t enough. I also appreciate that I can track my reps/weight, take progress pics, keep notes on the workout all in one App. Super convenient! I would recommend only paying for the first month to try it out, then paying for the year. One thing, It would be nice if there was a calendar screen showing the days you worked out. But the’ll probably add something like that soon. The makers of the app are great people and actually respond to feedback. Overall love it!.Version: 1.0.2

Great StartI’ve followed Mari for a couple years and all of her products have been high quality and the team behind it works hard to keep that up. I’ve bought the supplements, bands, and guides. All top notch. It’s a great start for the company’s first app launch. I know it will only get better with time. That is why I bought into the year subsciption. Would a free trial made it better, yes. But again, I can see the team working hard to update the app far more often than they would with the guides. Workouts are similar to what are in a guide but if you want ease of tracking, documenting, and information the app is a good choice. I did not like how I kept have to scroll to find the day i was at in the PDFs. This app changed that. Here’s what I would like to see in the future: 1. The exercise glossary to be label as push/pull days. I’d like this because with COVID gyms open and close. I am following the home guide to be safe but would like to incorporate moves from the gym guide when I can. 2. A community section so I don’t have to go to my ancient Facebook page to get connected and inspired. 3. Exclusive app content videos/bts/etc. really make being a member special. All in all it’s just the beginning and if you’ve followed the teams journey you know that it’ll only get better with time..Version: 1.1.23

Great up but please fix the glitch! This is my second time subscribing to the Slay app. I really love Mari and the workouts however the app crashes during the workout so the timer resets and data doesn’t always save. It isn’t a huge problem but annoying nevertheless..Version: 1.8.16

Good start, has some glitchesI really like that there are different levels of workouts in the app. I always have a good workout and feel motivated and pumped up after them. I have noticed that the demonstration videos in the app are loading slowly/ make my app re start when I watch them. Another issue I am having is when I go to sun in exercises, it has the same ones repeated multiple times. I am not able to see my past profess photos.. it is a bit concerning to upload them and then not now where they live after that. Over all, good work outs, but some bugs need to be fixed for the user experience..Version: 1.8.8

Loving itI’ve followed Mari before she developed this app. She’s total goals! Keeping up is always hard but so worth it.Version: 1.8.2

SLAY is OKLove the founder Mari! She is so inspirational and truly wonderful. I have used the app for about a year and it has really great exercise guides for all levels at an affordable price. I don’t give it 5 stars only because of some frequent glitches that come with a new phone app. My photos uploaded in my progress journal had been frequently wiped out ( I stopped uploading for that reason). The new workout library guide is great and love that you can swap out exercises out, but the library is a has many duplicated workouts making it hard to find the workout you would like to select. I also wish you had the ability to track additional sets and workouts for said day. Overall great app and would definitely recommend to family and friends!.Version: 1.7.2

100% worth it !I love the slay app so much! It helps me stay on track and consistent with my workout routines. Im from Canada and the recent closures of the gyms has been very frustrating I have however remained consistent with the help of Mari’s home guides. Additionally the guides are very easy to follow..Version: 1.7.2

A great alternative to paying for a PTI have confidence in going to the gym and using the free weights section because I’m not afraid I’m using them improperly and looking silly. The instructional videos are short and sweet, and watching them in between sets doesn’t slow down your workout. This app makes me feel confident to use the equipment and do the routines I know i need to in order to get the results. Well worth the subscription..Version: 1.1.23
