MixBox CS for Positive User Reviews

The bestThe best effect collection on iOS. All that’s needed for great mixes in a well designed package. A joy to use with its great interface. What I’d like next as in app purchase is the Tape plugin..Version: 1.5.1

AMAZING!!!!!I’ve been waiting for these effects for years!!!! I remember asking IK in emails to release this when I first bought Syntronik. Well they did and it couldn’t have been better timing!!!! The review before stated no automation and no cc control but, there is a dry/wet mix. I don’t know about cc or automation nor do I care or use it. No 1176, LA2A, or Pultec EQ is what has been keeping me from committing to vocals on the iPad Pro all that changed today!!!! Thank you IK Multimedia we appreciate your dedication and hard work to mobile musicians!!!!!.Version: 1.0

DowngradeI pad for te full app and somehow have been downgraded o the free version Problem solved after a few days.Version: 1.3.2

Really good appReally useful app, adds a lot of extra functionality to GarageBand and other iOS recording apps. Had a recent issue with the app and their customer service fixed it within a few hours after I contacted them. Highly recommended..Version: 1.3.2

One stop shopSounds amazing! Don’t need all my other audio units now. Go to for vocals and acoustic guitar every recording session. (Using iPad Pro) Recorded a Dean acoustic bass with a Lewitt 540s condenser and ran it through the bass presets, killer sound! No other audio units even come close for getting a good sound whatever instrument or vocal you are recording. Keep the expansion kits coming!.Version: 1.5.1

MixBoxLove this so many options and configurations and units to choose from well worth getting the full version .you get a mass of presets as well.Version: 1.3.2

AMAZING!WOW..... I wanted something similar to Slate Digital plug-ins on the ipad and finally it's here. The analog user interface with a touchscreen gives a nice hybrid. No more annoying mouse click when turning the knobs to adjust the settings. GLITCH - there is currently a glitch when using with Cubasis 3 on Sends. Every adjustments that are made to an indivitual channel(MixBox rack) effects other channels that are using racks. When MixBox is applied to Inserts, it works as normal. Thank you so much!.Version: 1.0

App mores greatIk multimedia responses quickly to my issue with the app deleting most of my effect and resolved it with an update. I changed my one star review to a five star. Thanks.Version: 1.3.2

The box is in the wayIt will be nice if the modules can be used individually without the box.Version: 1.5.1

Wow...really.....I can’t believe this came out of nowhere....this is all I been waiting for...I’m tellling you now, buy it and you won’t regret it...I’m making quality music in Cubasis 3 with this plugin..haven’t experienced any bugs so far..but for what it can do, it will get you a very nice demo or even mastered music if your good enough...I love it...Version: 1.0

Lost all previous effectsUpdated back to 5 start. Kudos to the quick fix. But the team should definitely tested this more thoroughly before such a major update. I purchased mixbox with all effects before they move to free app + IAP model. I updated the app and lost all the effects that I have previously paid for. Restore IAP did nor help with the problem. IK multimedia need to fix this asap!.Version: 1.3.2

High quality, amongst the best for iOSThe large range of fx available here feel and sound more like high quality hardware equivalents than most other fx available for iOS. The price is largely justified, and a absolute steal when it goes on sale. The only criticism I have, which is more a feature request, is that it would be so great to be able to modulate parameters within the app, via simple LFOs, just to give more life and animation to certain effects which cry out for this..Version: 1.1.1

AmazingI was a bit worried when I read the other reviews of 1 star. Although the app blew my mind in demo version on AUM. So, I purchased the full package and it works…thank you! This app renders lots of my existing ones useless…it’s absolutely fantastic..Version: 1.5.1

A New King in Town! For song creation and mixing? This app immediately replaces a gang of individual effects AUV3s I have along with the guitar and amp sims I’ve been using. I’ve used MixBox CS so far in Cubasis 3 and it worked without a hitch recording my vocals and electric guitars. This app is packed to the brim with all varieties of high quality emulations of classic effects covering a wide base of applications. 600 presets? It’s gonna take me a week to go through all of them. Thank you IK Multimedia for providing an app that is complete unto itself, requiring no in-app purchases in order for it to have full functionality. The introductory price is a bargain considering what you’re getting. Preview samples, standalone + AUV3, ability to create custom presets and racks. The features go on and on. Somebody or somebodies took their sweet time to get this one right. I can’t wait for the weekend when I can really mess with this app! Right on, IK Multimedia!.Version: 1.0

Outstanding collection of effectsIf you’re serious about making your iPad/iPad Pro mixes sound more professional, this is the one to get..Version: 1.5.1

Excellent Top Quality SoundsI bought this on the day it released but left it a while to review as there were some minor bugs while I used it within Cubasis. Now they seem to be sorted out so here’s your 5 stars IK Multimedia. Outstanding emulations of the Pultec EQ and the CLA2 compressor, SSL channel strip, amps etc... and that Moog filter, Saturator X... ensemble effect etc - all so good. I already owned most of the AmpliTube gear before I bought this but you know, one more toy won’t hurt will it....Version: 1.1.0

Top-Drawer iK Support Save - Mixbox is back, but…IMPORTANT UPDATE ON MY REVIEW - FOLLOWING MY UPGRADING TO A 2TeraByte iPad Pro M1: almost 1.5Tb of free space, and ALL ISSUES BELOW GOT CURED. To save reading, I hypothesised that my older but trusty iPad Pro 2 had an undocumented issue with an awful lot of Audio Units, in GarageBand, around the point where the SSD free space got down to 55Gb. I now believe this is effectively proven true, as the new iPad with a massive 2000Gb total SSD, has cured any issues with Mixbox and a lot of others (see point below about how other users may unwittingly have ‘tripped’ this 55Gb free SSD point). Now, I cannot say if the ACTUAL free space was 55Gb on my old ipad pro 2, or if really it was MUCH less than that, but iPadOS was hiding some use or making temporary use…in any event, I’d forgotten all about this issue, because it simply stopped happening once my free SSD space became massive. Apple should really document this - MicroSoft state min free HDD requirements, and now I am saying that I have determined that empirically, in my case, I found there MUST be kept around 70Gb out of the 512Gb of the ipad pro 2 SSD ‘free’ or else run into problems, which become unbearable at 55Gb. Last point on this - this is a big ask in practice, because with iCloud, Apple make use of the user’s own SSD, now again empirically I find limited to about 22% of the device’s SSD (previously there was no limit, and that was debilitating). So with 512Gb, knock off 70Gb for ‘safe’ use of Audio Units, then 120Gb for iCloud grabbing space on the SSD…that’s 200Gb nearly of the 512Gb, the device needs to have, just to run with almost no room to create anything! Astonishing really, but true in my use case. Below is my older/original review, the problems are solely related to free SSD, I urge users to deal with this undocumented issue before blaming the Developer….I am still a fan of this ‘rack’ arrangement, where modules are efficiently slotted in, and this Audio Unit has come a long way since the early days. I now find OTHER Audio Unit FX are crashing and having all my lovely painstaking tuning of settings, obliterated, zeroed, reset to default. Here’s what I think now is happening, that iKMultimedia are not entirely to blame for crashes etc - only MHO as a former IT man and now iPad Music creator: I have had a series of issues over the past months, and always the ‘free space’ of my iPad Pro 2 SSD is BELOW 55Gb. I am now aiming for 70Gb of ‘free ‘ SSD’ Space at all times, to run GarageBand iOS/iPad OS. So I am of the mind that this is a bit broader of an issue than just MixBox CS and the people at iKMultimedia. I never noticed the free space requirement of GB iOS before, although I knew it had to impact the baby DAW. My favourite other compressor by an entirely different and well-respected Scandi Developer (!) suffered the ‘zeroed’ issue, as did a well-known Saturator Audio Unit, again by a rock-solid and trusted, capable developer. Three entirely unconnected developers, cannot be all having a dicey time of it, with their FX AUs being ‘reset’ or zeroed or wiped of settings? No, this to me is now several occasions, where the only thing in common was my SSD was down below 55Gb free space (out of 512Gb total). I have a horrible feeling, a lot of people might also find their free space is down there at the danger line of 55Gb or so. A more complex song, will have it happen earlier, with even a larger free space than 55Gb on the SSD I think, and of course, a less complex and unwieldy song file maybe 750Mb or so, and only a few FX might be able to stand a smidgeon less free SSD space. I will name a dev if I think they are needing to get on a bit but having had the self-same type of problems, with three developers, unrelated, this seems like the SSD space is needed for GB to work and ‘remember’ or facilitate the AUs to remember settings and modules in the case of Mixbox CS. The comments below still are relevant, but I’m putting the star rating back up, despite having my song butchered by the faults that happened, just because I think this is not a feature anyone knew about. 55Gb to 70Gb is a heck of a lot of SSD to keep open. My older iphone only has 64Gb in total! Other related comments, bearing the above in mind: I just think the ‘fatal error’ or crash recovery needs to be rock-solid, and I only lost one track’s settings. I have to carefully consider now, the extent to which this can be used, even though when it works, it’s brilliant. Working, I love it. Cannot speak to Cubasis, have not used it in that although I have Cubasis 3 with all the trimmings. OLDER review follows…(pre-New Year 2021/22)… Now that Mixbox has emerged from a total change to the business model, hopefully it will have more people benefit from the strengths. A single Audio Unit FX slot, can house several disparate FX. I could stop there, that’s quite a big deal. By no means perfect, and nothing Mixbox does will add 4Gb of RAM to your Apple device. But, within the confines of the Audio Unit world, it’s a great option. Also, the standalone as well, which I am just about to try with my Squier Strat Classic Vibes 60’s version. Better days. There was a big glitch but iKMultimedia got through it, and mileage will vary as to how much issue there was. They are not the only developer to have a problem of this type, where when you bring up an updated AUV3, very rarely GarageBand or other DAWs say the AU is not recognised/present on your device! The worst is ferreting around trying to figure what settings you used on an old song. I will settle for it not being repeated, and so really it still is five stars, because tech problems in software this complex/sophisticated. will definitely happen. Only the fixing matters. Then the glitches get forgotten, for me at least..Version: 1.3.3

TOP 3 AUV3 Effects BURN1GOTBEATSThis is my second review after using MixBox for a while now. I decided to change my rating from 4 to 5 stars it’s definitely in the top 3 effects in my opinion. And deserves a excellent rating IK has be been looking out for IOS producers I only hope other companies take note. ( Thanks from B1.).Version: 1.0.1

I don’t write reviews but...I saw some negative reviews that haven’t been updated even though the issues have been fixed so I’m just writing this review to help this app get the praise it deserves. You guys did iOS music makers a solid with this thing. Keep it coming!.Version: 1.0.1

A potentially great app with some possible issuesThis could be a really great app, but there is one potential issue with the IAPs: when you update the app be sure to restore your purchases before opening any projects, otherwise the missing modules will not be restored correctly and you can lose data. On the plus side it is a great tool for mixing, with lots of great hardware emulations. The LA2 is a particular favourite of mine, as is the Pultec..Version: 1.3.3

Sounds really CoolI would happily pay $20 for the full version. GarageBand Guitar effects and amp models are all free..Version: 1.5.1

BrillTop notch software, as usual with IK. stuff for serious musicians, the dabblers are moaning about how it's not 'free', the rest of us are impressed.Version: 1.5.1

Influential, so please ask Apple to stop dropping the ball with IAPSA built in audio recorder. Too many AUv3 apps have limited stand alone functionality because of this. You start to play around, get something great going, only to realize when you want to record something in a host, the setup loses everything you had going. Takes some of the fun out of contemporary audio processing apps. All music apps used to have this function and with the AUv3 or nothing movement (as great as it is) it is kind of sad that stand alone too often does not provide that shiny red record button. Anyway, the effects that I have messed with in here sound phenomenal, and I especially love that lo-fi trilogy. Could you also try to make this universal? Thanks....Version: 1.3.0

Buzz.Desperately needs a noise gate/suppressor. Thanks for the extra presets when you register, but my iPad doesn’t have them in the on my iPad files. Not sure if I didn’t follow the instructions right but I tried numerous times. Thanks for what I have now..Version: 1.0

Thank you IK ❤️All in app purchase and plug-in not found problems have been solved and despite the inconvenience and that Christmas was lined up (for me at least) to enjoy some music making, IK must have worked through the holidays to fix it, so I appreciate that. All is well and mixbox is working great, my projects are saved !! As for the app itself, it’s incredible for trying out new sounds, fine tuning your mix, or adding the odd filter, delay, or reverb. It’s unmatched on iOS and the plugins are all top class! It can be incredibly fun to throw a load of plugins at a synth and see what happens and I often find something usable, but it can also be useful for adding a subtle character, warmth, or depth to your sound. I hope IK continue to add plugins!.Version: 1.3.3

Excellent sound and easy to useReally impressed with the app, extremely easy to use and works well with GarageBand and Cubasis..Version: 1.3.0

My complaint fixed with the latest update! My main complaint (about not being able to purchase the Sunset Reverb) was fixed with the latest update. Back to a five star review! Thanks for listening and acting upon it!.Version: 1.5.0

MixBox cuts out. 5 stars when fixed. !FIXED!!FIXED! 9 effects that cut out automatically when I try to use them on a track. I’m using iPad Pro, so there is no problem with my equipment. Channel strip in channel strip. Eq comp and eq 81 both work. Tape echo in delay Model 670 in dynamics Eq-pg Vintage eq-1a Ensemble in modulation Hall reverb in reverb Room reverb in reverb Tape cassette in saturation Calling reviewers with problems Lipschitz? Bit of an attitude problem? Does management know about this? Look in the mirror lately?.Version: 1.0.1

Back to the topThe latest update 1.3.3 fixed remaining issues. MixBox is now back on awesome status..Version: 1.3.3

Great app but be careful with the updatesThe app is an amazing mixing and mastering tool. I use on every track because is not very taxing on the cpu and sounds great. I’ll have to be careful with the upcoming updates because 1.3.0 broke all backwards compatibility. Luckily 1.3.3 fixed the problem and now the app is working properly. Back to 5 stars.Version: 1.3.3

Revised reviewDev seems to have fixed the app. Still lost all my personal presets, but at least it’s been restored to it’s former glory. Incredible effects app..Version: 1.3.2

A different world?Whenever it’s on sale, this is a splendid collection of modules. Something that really can make a difference when used creatively, and it offers a large variety of combos. The new IAP is likely to be of the same quality, but it’s too expensive. Who pays almost £18 for a reverb on IOS? The world economy is on its knees. Many developers recognise this and are having sales, or offering discounts. So guess where the money goes..Version: 1.5.0

A fantastic magic box!!!I purchased this app (after a free try) a week ago for a specific use : using my iPad on stage for guitars (nylon, acoustic baritone and electric) and vocals. I’m using an “old” Scarlett interface. Guys, you made an absolute killing work!!! Even if I know that it’s not (only) a guitar multi effects , the sound quality of every effect is far away from bias fx or tonestack that I used before. It’s sharp, responsive, dynamic like I’ve never heard on iPad. It work without any problem with AUM. Thanks to your team, I have got my iPad gigs setup for both guitars and vocal!!! Cherry on this beautiful cake will be more midi control..Version: 1.3.2

Mind blowingThis will reduce my need for more effects apps. Of course there are always special apps that do crazy things and no one app can cover all the bases. But this one covers a lot. It will be awhile before I buy another effects app. I feel bad that I wasted so much money before this one came along. This guy uses not many resources so it's perfect for so many things, actually anything I can think of. The price? Anyone complaining is just not on track with cost. You can but 70 apps at $3 each or one app at $40. So buy 70 apps for $200 and get a combination of decent apps and useless and mediocre. Or spend $40 and gave all the professional quality effects you will likely ever need..Version: 1.0

Working againThis is the best collection of vintage hardware emulations available..Version: 1.3.3

Very very very good nearly use it on everythingI got it soon after it first came out for about 40~ $ incant remember. it works amazingly. too many instances in BM3 makes it crash tho thats probably bm3 issue. buy this app..Version: 1.2

Love it butI love it but sometimes when i try using specific presets it sounds like everything blows and the whole track goes silent. For ex, im unable to use any guitar preset and it really bums me out..Version: 1.0

Add new plugin suggestionsHi the app is amazing but I was wondering can you guys add some gain staging plugins some trim plugin please and thank you for the app.Version: 1.1.1

Please fix UPDATEUPDATE: Thank you for the quick fix! 5 stars where they belong! Keep up the great work!.Version: 1.3.2

Great plugins for a great priceI would love to see to T rack series plugins come to iPad next. Full versions of these plugins would fit nicely with AUV3 format..Version: 1.0

Great effects collection!MixBox may be at the upper end of music app pricing, but it provides so much that the value for money is really there, especially if acquired when on sale. The 500 inspired design keeps each effect module easy to use, but effects chains lead to powerful results with presets providing a solid platform for new users to start from - my wife doesn’t have any deep mix engineer knowledge but in short order came up with a great sound on some of her vocals we recorded, the White 2A being the special sauce. I’m very impressed with the compressors, worth it just for them, although that is an area I’ve dug deepest. (Note: The Dec ‘21 updates have been a bit of a fiasco, IK have now resolved, although communication could have been better. A tiny remaining niggle is that MixBox now appears twice in the Cubasis 3 plug-in list, I believe one is with MIDI one without - I’ve seen other developers tweak naming to clarify this, but on the other hand I’d think Cubasis could do something too).Version: 1.3.3

Great appThe recent update issues will get fixed. The app is great with plenty of useful fx..Version: 1.3.0

Great for mixingIf you bought this expecting to use it just as an amp sim i am not surprised you thought it was too expensive. However, if you actually want to mix tracks on ipad, this is currently the best price/performance package there is. And it has amp sims..Version: 1.2
