Rocksmith+ Fast Music Learning for Negative User Reviews

NOT for overall learning or beginnersIf you want to learn a specific song or two this is a good place to learn them, if they are in the Rocksmith library. If you want to learn to play guitar and plan to use their lessons, I would looks elsewhere. Their lessons go from learning a few cord and then jump immediately to moving all over the neck and fretboard in the next few lessons. Impossible to keep up even for someone who has been playing for a year with other learning systems. Wish I had seen a review like this before I paid for it..Version: 2.2.0

ScamPurchased the subscription by iOS, now i cant login to PC or Mobile App, telling me i dont have a subscription. Submitted a ticket with screenshots of the error and from my online ubisoft account showing i have active subscription.. 4 days in no response from them! No contact number, i have messaged their twitter and insta accounts, no reply!!! To think this is subscription based and they are taking days to respond? What a shame. I even bought their Real Tone cable so i could use my PC. This is a scam. What a horrible customer support!.Version: 1.2.5

Does not even loadWhen I open Rocksmith+ it says “Sorry,The store is unavailable please try again later Subscription expensive App SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUXXXXXXX.Version: 1.9.5

Not worth a subscription feeI would pay a reasonable price one time for this app. In fact I have in the past on my Xbox. So I will not be paying for this application each year. What was wrong with the old model of paying for the songs you wanted and not paying for all the garbage I don’t want? Greed has ruined the whole gaming industry! 1st came micro transactions, now this new model! Do better! So never mind the songs I have paid for on the Xbox and now can’t access on the new app. People would rather have something to show for their money not just a subscription. That’s why I will be getting a spark Amp. For less than 3 years of your subscription I will have access to jam tracks, the ability to learn any song and have an amplifier to show for my hard earned money! So good luck with you horrible marketing tactics! I spend my money on something tangible not a useless subscription service with horrible music selection..Version: 1.5.0

Constant crashWent from 3 stars to 1. Constant crashes and connection errors, most bend notes not registering and no tuning option available mid game unless you play a song that requires a different tune..Version: 2.2.0

Not bad, could be betterSong choices are slim, and not really what I’m looking for, not bad, actually a really good app. I prefer PC version cause there are more options to what you can download and play. I’ll stick to PC for now. Also over priced in my opinion but if you like the layout and it’s worth it for you then go for it and be the best guitar player you can be! :) If they add Crossfade, Creed, Def Leppard, Guns and Roses, and bands similar or more well known rock songs to the app I may re-download..Version: 1.9.5

Rough mic detectionI just tried the iPhone version. It looks almost exactly like the desktop. It’s quite small during a song, so I had to get right on it to see. I wasn’t sure if the mic didn’t pick up well or the note detection needed more work, but the first song I normally do well at, it said I did about 50% accurately. I tried the same song with the same guitar on a 2018 iPad Pro with built in mic and got 26% accuracy. The bigger screen makes it much more doable, but we need to know if we can plug in the cable with an adapter. If I’m having issues like this after playing RS, 2014, and now Plus, a new person *will not* stick with it. I’ll stick to the desktop (until my current subscription expires).Version: 1.4.1

Really disappointedRocksmith+ had a chance to do something great here, I would have even been happy to pay a yearly subscription fee. Just make it an upgraded 2014 version with the old library and include new quality songs each month. New song, new graphics same gameplay/guitarcade etc. Stop denying us a console version too! Learn from your mistake quickly please before this ends ups a failed endeavour. Millions of musicians are begging you to fix this!!! Please!!!.Version: 1.4.1

They triedSong don’t have the same chords as they do in the console version of the same song. Really stupid. Don’t want community created tabs. You cannot see the chords as they approach to be strum. Everything is visibly too small to see unless the phone is in your face.Version: 1.4.1

Very expensive for a subscriptionI know “you will own nothing and be happy”, but nobody wants this… another subscription… and look at the price, maybe if it was a fraction of the cost of Netflix, but really, nobody wants another subscription. I’ll stick to the version, with the songs I OWN. Besides the people in charge of the song selection are desperately uncool. I noticed that before Rocksmith 2014 died. I mean… Lady Gaga!!!! What kind of guitar player would pay for that!!!! (Spare me the AI response - just do better).Version: 2.0.0

Somewhat of an improvementThe new Rocksmith+ offers some “quality of life” improvements over its predecessor Rocksmith 2014 Edition. That said the use of a microphone to detect the guitar means that there’s some lag when it comes to what you’re seeing and what you’re playing. The microphone also means it has to be close to the source or it will have difficulty picking up the sound. Which itself is an issue on a phone with a limited screen size, since you can’t always sit close to the source and have the phone at an appropriate viewing angle. Then the use of a Real Tone cable is insufferable since you’d need to buy a Lightning to USB 3.0 Adapter at an additional cost (without counting the cost of the Real Tone cable itself) And you might think “Well, the subscription works across platforms so I could play on my laptop” Well, not if it is a Mac. The computer version doesn’t run on Mac, so if you’re an avid Apple consumer don’t expect to use this on any device other than an iPhone/iPad. So in all you’d be paying $100 a year for an ambitious app that only falls short on its execution..Version: 1.4.1

Can’t select audio interface inputI have a symphony interface. Unable to select input channel, which for the instrument is 2, so I’m unable to hear the sound from my instrument..Version: 1.4.1

Missing featuresWhen using piano it doesn’t support Bluetooth connection, so Bluetooth only keyboards have to use the inconsistent microphone connection. It also doesn’t display the notes your playing or any guide on fingers to use, so unlike other learn to play apps it’s really just a fun game. Missed opportunity..Version: 2.1.0

Not my way of learning guitarI am older and have been playing guitar gor a while. This app is very advanced in terms of graphics and design. However it is a struggle playing songs I know already using a guitar hero format. I question how helpful this can be in learning guitar. Some other apps are not as exciting, but do a much better job teaching guitar. This is more like a video game using your guitar as a controller..Version: 2.1.0

The plans aren’t affordable. They should have mentioned that there isn’t a free version. At the prices they are offering, just find a real teacher..Version: 1.2.5

For veteran players, beware: This is a MAJOR downgrade from previous versions. They must have lost their licensing to most of the songs and bought a big blanket license of slop so they could try to cover the loss of tightly curated, fun to learn playlists and dlc with quantity. Lots of familiar features missing. Should have called it Rocksmith-.Version: 1.6.1

Seriously Ubisoft ?I find it so greedy and wrong to make this subscription based, $100 a year? What happened to the legit game you would buy and if you wanted more songs you could pay a small fee per song you wanted. I don’t care about “we add +50 all the time” no one is going to be learning that many songs in one year. Stop being greedy and actually be fair don’t scam people with this!.Version: 2.0.0

Do NOT sign up for this money grabRocksmith 2014 is one of my most played games of all time. The initial idea of this game is incredible and I dropped hundreds of dollars in DLC as they released new content every week since its inception. Cue the announcement of Rocksmith+ and the excitement of having Rocksmith with me all the time. I couldn’t have been more let down. The cost is absolutely ridiculous. The UI is terrible. The song selection is laughable. I really don’t have anything nice to say about this app. It is truly sad what this company has done with this game..Version: 2.0.1

I don’t recommend for Apple usersThis is not available for Macs, so if you are an Apple user, you are stuck with the app. I was able to connect my guitar using iRig. The app works fine using my iPad’s speakers, but who wants to listen to music or a their guitar through iPad speakers. I connected my AirPods which created an unacceptable delay that could not be fixed by adjusting the settings. As there is only one port on my iPad, of course, I can’t use wired headphones and connect my guitar. My Mac mini has all the ports I need, but alas, there is no Mac version. I would stay away from the iPad/iPhone version. This may work ok on a PC..Version: 2.1.0

Let Users Actually Test It to See if it’s for Them!I am genuinely interested in this app and I can afford to pay for a subscription. It drives me insane however how you cannot see or use anything in the app before you subscribe. This is awful. It’s like asking someone to join a gym without ever seeing what equipment they have. Or signing up for a TV and movie steaming service without knowing what shows they have. Please, for the sake of common sense, allow people to use an app, even if it’s an hour or 24 hours, before needing to subscribe. Users should not have to subscribe (even if it’s classified as a “free trial”) before even seeing or using the app. I feel so strongly about this practice that I’m deleting the app and going elsewhere. If others feel the same way, that might explain why adoption of this app is so low..Version: 2.0.0

FrustratingI have been an avid fan of the rocksmith releases and have been playing them forever. Overall I have loved the concept and the delivery on consoles but I find the iOS app to be incredibly frustrating. For starters, after almost every song the app locks up and I have to close and reload. So progress isn’t saved at all. The song library is quite limited but I can see they are trying to grow it out which is appreciated but it is not enough. I use one of the Rocksmith cables so sound quality and the notes are recognized fairly well, but could definitely be improved. It seems any kind of fret buzz makes your notes or chords unrecognizable. I paid for the year and so will continue to mess with it but overall I recommend sticking to the previous Rocksmith releases and let the app fix these bugs first..Version: 2.2.1

Not satisfiedThere is no way for me to directly connect the guitar to a cable. The microphone doesn't pick up the guitar too well. The screen is too small. Why pay for something that can't be used properly? Will Rocksmith ever be available for Macs or consoles?.Version: 2.0.0

Deceptive subscription cancellation procedureThis is unfortunate because the original rock smith game was great. This iOS version is janky at best, the music is abysmal, and Ubisofts account management is terrible. The subscription doesn’t show up in App Store subscriptions so you go to their website and get instructions to cancel. The instructions lead to an endless loop and the option to cancel they reference doesn’t exist (sent a screenshot to their support). You only get prompted to cancel by iOS if you delete the app (I assume that always works but no clue). Support will not process the cancellation and asks for screenshots of their website which were already provided. There’s no way to try before you buy unless you sign up for a year. So, I bit the bullet and paid for a month (didn't want to commit $100 before I tried the app) and decided it wasn’t good after a few hours. I was going to part ways with no review until I saw how messy their account management is. So, this is a warning to others..Version: 1.5.0

$140Really?? I’m paying $140 per year for a game I have owned since it came out on my Xbox? I assumed once I logged in it wouldn’t cost me anything, but of course I was wrong, I just don’t understand how Ubisoft could charge me for a game I already own. This is a disgrace to a game that I love. Do better..Version: 1.2.0

Nice try, but no cigarInterface is good enough, but not fun like the 2014 version - not to mention the song selection is abysmally bad. No two player, or shuffle play. Crashes often and settings/preferences need to be reset every time. Wouldn’t play music through hdmi, had to hardwire my headphones into my stereo because I guess they want you to use headphones on iPad?? Not worth the year price. Ending my 7 day free trial early, played the 12 songs that were good. If you are an expert level, it’s worth your time to play expert/proficient level songs, they were entertaining, but unless you have a nice setup, I couldn’t imagine enjoying playing off your iPad or iPhone and having fun for more than 2 songs. Going back to my PS4..Version: 1.5.0

RubbishStill waiting for the subscription finished loading taking for ever going to ask for refund and still no console release.Version: 1.4.1

Where to beginIt’s good when it’s good. But that’s not often. 97% of the time I can’t get it past the noise reduction screen. It just loads and loads and loads and loads and loads and loads. More annoying than the amount of loads I’ve written..Version: 2.0.1

OuchSo much prential so little decent music. Subscription model just not worth it until songs get decent. Do better UBISOFT..Version: 1.1.0

Not freeWebsite said free for 30 days then NZ$139.95 for 12 months, download app and suddenly NZ$199.95 for 12 months with 31 days free. Either a scam or you need to fix up your coding..Version: 2.0.1

Who are these peopleGreat app, long time fan going back to the console data. But what happened to the catalog? Thousands of songs sure but only like 6 anyone has heard of. Don’t even have the songs that used to be licensed for RS2014. Was definitely not worth $100..Version: 1.6.1

Fatal flawThe game is very enjoyable and it's getting three stars because it works great with my acoustic. But like every rocksmith version before, the audio lag when using the cable makes it unplayable for me. I've tried PS4 (RS), PS5 (RS 2014), PC and iOS (RS+)--all with the same very noticeable delay between plucking the string and hearing it come through on the game. Adjusting the audio buffer had no impact. I hope this gets resolved someday because it's such a fun way to learn..Version: 2.0.1

Almost Worth the CostI’ve used Rocksmith since it’s first console release. I was hoping for more of the same experience here. It’s missing the majority of the songs that they once had available. This is the biggest reason I’m not paying for a new subscription. They also did not have the arcade practice games like they used to. I would have considered a subscription if they still offered those. Lastly, they should have some savings for those that have purchased the console versions. I gave it 3 out of 5. This app has a TON of potential. Small music library, no arcade practice games, and no incentive for previous users are a miss. I’ll check back soon to see if they’ve built it out more. I’ve spent lots of money on “additional tracks” and multiple copies of Rocksmith on various consoles over the years….Version: 1.6.1

Can’t loginI have tried to login but always get the message saying there was a error trying to send my request. I can log in to the website with no problem. I have tried to contact support but get a similar error message. I tried the trouble shoot but there isn’t a link to the issue..Version: 1.9.5

Great idea, bad catalogueI don’t understand how and why you guys couldn’t kept the list of music and songs from Rocksmith2014, etc. It was so good. Now it’s 9000 songs no one’s knows about basically or the worst songs from our favorite artists 😅 I canceled my free trial. Will come back when you’ll put all the songs we had in the previous games..Version: 2.0.1

Note Highway is too crampedDevelopers, you need to angle the note highway more like 2014 Remastered because on this new version the notes are too close together and it makes sight reading super hard especially on a phone. I play the exercise packs on 2014 all the time so I’m super familiar with how they’re supposed to look. As soon as I played one of the exercises on Plus I noticed how cramped it was immediately. I won’t whine about the library cause I’ve found some fun stuff but the cramped note thing is kind of a dealbreaker for me..Version: 1.4.1

Great but could improveGreat app that has made a big difference in my bass guitar progression. The user interface could definitely be improved (both the song menus as well as the note way and tab interfaces). Additional practice presets could help as well. For the price, it’s missing a lot of classic and contemporary songs—which lowers my would be 4-star rating to a 3..Version: 2.1.0

Guitarist for 35 yearsI was very excited to try this program. But it is completely frustrating. The catalog of songs is incredibly limited. And the software itself has a hard time registering my notes, perhaps due to the fact that I did not have the right sound engine loaded, so that is on me. However, it became quickly very clear to me that it is very difficult to watch the screen and play the guitar. I have always played by feel, but I'm realizing that I look at the neck and the strings more often than I realized. I cannot imagine being a new guitarist trying to learn and having my eyes glued to the screen the whole time. Learning to listen, and to watch what your hands are doing are the most important things about learning the guitar. Staring at the screen and trying to match little blips as they go by has absolutely nothing to do with learning to play music. Some things cannot and should not be gamified. I cannot read music and so I learned to play by ear. And as a professional guitarist for 25 of my 35 years playing the instrument, I was always very glad that I had developed the ability to play what I was hearing. Much better to spend your time developing your ear and spending your time with your eyes on your instrument than staring at the computer screen. Unplug from the computer if you want to learn. You'll be so glad you developed skill and love for one of the few activities we have left that is not digitized..Version: 1.5.0

Song list is atrociousI mean it’s abismal. Thousands of songs that you have never heard nor want to play. I started on rocksmith 2014 and figured the same songs and more would be available. I was sadly mistaken. I subscribed yesterday and am uninstalling today. Stick with OG rockband, this is just another failed money grab attempt by a big company to get on the subscription band wagon..Version: 2.1.0

Good but crashesLove that the subscription is cross compatible with the PC version, wish that included PS5. However, guitar I practice at home using my PC and the Real Tone cable. I wanted to try the piano instrument since I was at a relatives house with a piano, and the app won’t stop crashing every time I change from guitar to piano. I never got to try it. Restarting the iPad didn’t help..Version: 2.1.0

Fun but keeps crashingFun, with a variety of songs. The noteway is still to small even with the update on my iPad, but it’s better. Recently I’ve been getting error messages that the server isn’t ready and restarts the app. I’ve been getting something called a drum error also..Version: 2.2.1

Terrible song selectionsThe app has every song under the sun except the one your searching for, was excited to learn some guns and roses and old classic rock yet it’s no where to be found.Version: 2.2.0

Disappointed After downloadRight from the very start, there is no sound coming from the app from the opening video screen, I continue with the setup set up in hopes that it was just that video. but after the set up was complete, and connected to my keyboard via cable input everything registered as it should, but still no sound during gameplay I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. that still hasn’t done anything except waste my time. very disappointment. and in case you are wondering, my volume was up at 79% at the time..Version: 2.3.0

Rocksmith you have changed… so i got to let you go…Can’t play on console, can’t transfert/ get back all my dlc from older version… can’t buy all the cool songs they had before because they removed it… so sad bye now.Version: 2.0.1

DisappointmentI really enjoyed rocksmith 2014 and was hoping this would be an update, but it’s the exact same songs that were popular in 1980 just stuck on repeat. You can look up songs by age and in the metal and rock sections you’ve got link in park and paramore as the only things that are fresh post 2000. Everything else is mudvayne and other guttural garbage. Not even some stone sour or something that has actual guitar in it. But don’t worry, they updated the hip hop and pop sections. Cause when I think of “rock”smith I’m thinking of those..Version: 2.1.0

Can't even get started with Rocksmith+This app is riddled with bugs, both in the app and in servers that handle accounts. I've tried for 20 minutes to just get into my Ubisoft account and pay for membership, only to run into crashes, account errors, and general jank. Why would I pay $100/yr for an app I'm not even confident will work well? Yeah, I'll pass..Version: 1.9.5

Notes too small for iPhoneI was excited when I saw this was available for the iPhone. Except when Istarted to play it, the note/chord layout is the same as the xbox. This works great on a TV, but not for the iPhone. They need to redesign the way the notes are represented for the iPhone and iPad so that they are not so small and so that the player is able to see them when they need to be played, let alone see what notes are coming up cause those are even smaller..Version: 1.4.1

1,000,000 Songs, None anyone’s heard ofI get it is probably something to do with copyright, but there are tons of songs, and if you like a song/band and search it, it’s probably not there. We don’t need a full discography of THE WIGGLES! Or tons of artists no one’s heard of. We get best hits on Rocksmith 2014. We get crap in Rocksmith +. Not only that, almost all the songs are just chords. It is lazy. People need to learn riffs too. Chords are good, and can teach a lot, but it isn’t everything. The game was a million times better. Put some songs in it that people know..Version: 1.4.1

Not on consoles? The app version for my phone is neat and works well for the most part, I’d like more courses for beginners to learn and it would be worth more to me if I could play it on PS5..Version: 1.2.5

UnworkableCompared to other Tuning apps and Guitar Learning applications this one gives me the greatest headache. This is the only app in my library that picks up audio that isn’t being played. It’ll strike notes I’ve never hit making practice virtually impossible. Their subscription service is horrid as well. I do not recommend this app unless you plan on shelving your instrument for good..Version: 2.0.1
