✓ Short trial period will steal your $After 6 days they will Charge your for a 1 year subscription that is more expensive than any other language learning app including Rosetta Stone, Babbel or Duolingo Premium. Compared to those apps this is a one trick pony that tries in a very unsophisticated way to memorize words and phrases. No grammar, no conversation and no conjugations. ✓ Misleading ad, frustrating speech regocnitionI found this app via an ad where they had french subtitles under a scene from a series with french dub. The ad made it seem like you can learn the words by hearing and reading them in the context of the scene, but this is not the case. In addition, the speech recognition is not the best - when I learned “mariée” the app kept recognising “Marier” and eventually told me to give up - but they sound exactly the same!!.Version: 1.0.11

✓ Saw the ad, wanted to try, unable to without commitmentI saw the ad, I thought this might be the thing I need to boost my vocabulary, which really lets me down sometimes. The idea of a free trial appealed and I was hoping to get a chance to at least try it for a few days before deciding to commit. Having gone through the initial profiling, I then get the chance to “Study for 7 days for free” The next part of the same screen says: Today: Full Access. You don’t need to pay anything at the moment. Day 7: Subscription starts I click continue and then get held at having to provide payment information. This raised alarm bells, and I am aware of the issues of trying to get refunds through the App Store that I stopped immediately. If you are not going to offer a free trial, don’t say it’s free. Offer a no commitment cancellation for the first 7 days or something but don’t lie about it being free. If, as your comments suggest, you are all for the customer experience, continually improving the product, you will see that this pay wall, will actually lose you customers and therefore the valuable funding to your team. I am not going to speculate on something I have never seen in action. If you want me to subscribe, show me the product before asking for my money..Version: 1.0.13

✓ Bait and switchSo, the advertisement suggests that the app has what would be a very useful feature, namely, to provide scripted French conversations between native speakers with translation. This i would pay for. Instead, what you really get is simply word translations learned via listening, writing and speaking. If your goal is to simply improve your French vocabulary, then this is a reasonable app for you but, the advertised functionality as described above isn’t yet available apparently. A person absolutely could not learn to speak a language with this app, but if the goal is to learn only vocabulary, then the way that it uses multiple approaches to vocabulary could be effective for that. You read the word, then you do recall through translation. No option to get the movie transcription that was so actively advertised. ✓ The Ads LIEI downloaded this app because the ad showed learning French while watching an episode of Wednesday. Now, I see that feature is not an option at all. The developer answered other people’s reviews saying they haven’t finished making that feature yet & developing it takes time. YOU SHOULD NOT BE ADVERTISING A FEATURE THAT DOES NOT EXIST YET (and probably never will). That’s dishonest, and you know it. You also can’t do any learning at all in this app without signing up for a paid subscription. I’m not rushing to pay this developer money when they’ve already blatantly lied to me. ✓ ScamI downloaded this app because the advertisement showed a clip of the Netflix show Wednesday and I assumed that I would be able to watch TV show clips and expand my knowledge of French. I was wrong. This feature never appeared. I put the app down and meant to delete it, but my four year old brother used my iPad and opened the app. He started the free trial for 1 year and I was never notified that the trial had started. Now, I am out $79.99 for an app that used misleading advertisements and scammed me. I have contacted Apple for a refund and let them know that the app is using false advertisements to scam people out of their money. Very upset..Version: 1.0.13

✓ Not greatQuestionable accuracy, the randomization in the training is actually very predictable, and the words you’re learning constantly placed in a multiple choice with a bunch of words you’re not learning, which is not helpful for advanced or even probably beginner learners in terms of actually learning the spelling of recall of the word. ✓ Spurious pricingI liked the look of this app and saw an offer of Full access for 6 months at £17.49 on the app info page, which I thought was reasonable. However when I get to the payment part the only options I had were 2 months for £29.99 or 12 months for £79.99 after the 7 day free trial … I contacted the support email address but had no reply. I would not trust them with the cancel anytime option if they advertise a price to draw you in and then don’t even bother to respond to a genuine query…. Update … so I was asked to give more details (which I had already given) I sent another email with screenshots of what their own app was trying to charge me and over a week later still no response … so again, they are clearly not bothered with any kind of customer service ….Version: 1.0.13

✓ Cant cancel subscriptionI downloaded the app and intended to only use the free trial. The app promises to send a reminder when the free trial is about to end so you can cancel it if you wish. I never got a notification nor could I find anywhere in the app to cancel. In the app’s settings, the only option in “restore purchases”, where it just checks if you have a subscription or not. What?! Additionally, the website’s link “Write to us” does nothing, so there is no way to contact support besides through this review Im currently writing. If you know anything about French you’ll know just how significant an omission this is.
