10 Minute Spanish for Negative User Reviews

TrickyOne of those apps who will drag you 10 miles with a useless pre-test questionnaire THEN inform you that the app isn't actually for free..Version: 1.2.4

Just heats up the phone and freezesTerrible app. Just heats up my phone and freezes..Version: 1.2.10

White screen after each practice, have to restart phoneEvery time I complete a group if 4 words the app is white and freezes with nothing so have to restart phone to kick it into life again. Very frustrating.Version: 1.2.11

Not workingI just started using app, it’s not working properly. When I spell out a word it does not move to next one, it freezes..Version: 1.2.3

The promised cancellation was not done, no option was providedVery basic and boring. The worst thing that after free trial it was promised that they will remind and there will be option to cancel. It didn't happen. I think it is designed this way to device the customers. Overall not impressive with grammar at all- no verbs conjugation was provided. Waste of money.Version: 1.2.9

Resolver un problemaTú puedes ver que las palabras arriba requiere tres “e”. Hay solo dos en la ejercicio. Y yo no podría pasa la proximo ejercicio..Version: 1.2.7

I subscribed for 3 months, so you don’t have toBottom line on top: conceptually, this app could be a useful vocabulary supplement to another program of study, but it really is only a supplement, not a comprehensive or self-contained language study tool, and in practice, it's not implemented well enough to be maximally (or in my view, adequately) effective even as just a vocabulary supplement. Fyi, if you want to try this app, know that (at least as of this writing) the subscription options they offer when you initially sign up for the free trial are not the only ones, and there are much better/cheaper options you can switch to before your free trial ends, by going in to manage your subscription in the app store, and selecting "See all plans." If you're interested in a more detailed review: I'm on day 85 with this app. My subscription expires in 2 weeks, and I will allow it to lapse. The app concept is interesting, but it's not executed well enough. Furthermore, this app is far from complete. You might use it to effectively expand your your vocabulary, in conjunction with using other means to learn the language. But it's really just a vocabulary tool. This app isn't going to teach you language basics like grammar, verb conjugation, or give you a comprehensive introduction. Instead, it will expose you to a somewhat random selection of words and phrases. With its limited scope as a vocabulary app, it will probably expose you faster to a breadth of words and phrases than other more comprehensive apps, but this isn't likely to be an effective way on its own to learn to speak the language, if that's what you're looking for. As a vocabulary tool, the idea is simple enough: expose you to 8 new words or phrases a day (you can optionally do more), with short lessons taking you through hearing and seeing the word, spelling it, and speaking it. Then practice the words again in the future through a system of spaced repetition, where you see and hear the word, and simply have to choose the correct translation from between two choices. Interesting idea, and probably useful, though for me, I found the spaced repetition to be too infrequent. Even at just 8 words a day, you build up a vocabulary pretty quickly, and the standard spaced repetition (just 24 words, if you stick to the 8 new words per day minimum) didn't cover enough words each day to keep me adequately attuned to my older vocabulary. Until recently, they provided a way to learn additional words each day, but not to practice more old ones than what they scheduled for their standard spaced repetition. Personally, I complained about this. Whether due to that or coincidental, they recently updated the app to add the ability to retrain previous words. In fact they've added previous word retraining as a required daily task. I don't love having such as a required daily task, and I don't find having it as an available task to be a good substitute for what I had requested, which was to allow more spaced-repetition-style review for previous words. If you think of it as it takes roughly 10 minutes to learn 8 new words or phrases, well, what they've done is to now require you to spend an additional 10 minutes re-training 8 previous words and phrases. And if you want to practice more, then you can retrain more previous words and phrases, in blocks of 4 (~5 minutes). The basic problem is that, after 85 days, I have a vocabulary of roughly 800 words and phrases to practice. If I'm going to keep up with them regularly, it's not going to be by re-training them in groups of 4 at 5 minutes a clip. I actually think the spaced repetition exercise is a little too simple, but in this case, too simple is much better than too extensive, because what's most important is to have at least some contact with your older words on a frequent enough basis. With spaced repetition, maybe I won't remember the correct spelling for every word, but I'll see it, hear it, see the English translation, and (by my own choice) I always speak the word or phrase. Much better to do that at 5 seconds each, and cover many words, than to be forced to spend more than a minute each, and retrain just a handful of words. Perhaps they’ll rework things to make the app more useful in the future, but for now, I will allow my subscription to lapse, and focus on other options for making progress with Spanish..Version: 1.2.8

Great for learning wordsGreat app for improving vocabulary - feedback is the following to the app makers. Please can you make it possible to repeat more of the words I’ve started learning - otherwise I introduce hundreds of new words a session, would be better to be able to easily go through large amounts of what I already know.Version: 1.2.7

A mish mosh of unconnected wordsThe first session I learned four random, unrelated words (brotherhood, booking, discount and parents). Utterly pointless and useless. I’m trying to cancel my free seven day subscription after 15 minutes. I’ll let you know how that goes..Version: 1.2.6

No written textsThe written texts that the ad shows are nowhere to be found. Very misleading..Version: 1.2.12

Freezes - unusuableWhen I finished many exercises the app would freeze. The only way I could fix it was to completely turn my phone on and off. I reached out to support and never heard back. Waste of money. Was helpful before it started freezing..Version: 1.2.12

OverchargedThe trial ran out before I could cancel and I was charged $30 for 2 months, but looking at the options, there is another option of $13 for 3 months. Business practices like this aren’t cool. In terms of the app, doesn’t seem to offer anything different over the other language learning apps..Version: 1.2.1

Why not duolingo?I used this app today and I don’t know what differentiates it from Duolingo and Duolingo is free. The app itself is fine but if Duolingo is offering the same or better for free… why not duolingo? Also, I could be wrong but I think I downloaded this app off of an ad that showed movie clips in Spanish but I have not yet encountered any of that type of activity yet. That is an activity that would differentiate it from Duolingo and maybe make it worth paying for.Version: 1.2.12

Why?Without any chance to try the application free!at least there should be a chance for try it all free for 2 days.Version: 1.2.6

Please tell me if I have paid because I don’t knowI don’t want to pay I just want to subscribe to do it for free.Version: 1.2.9

Not as advertisedI have zero interest in writing in Spanish. I can’t spell well in English, I have no interest in learning spelling in Spanish. I want listening and visual matching for vocabulary. But you cannot skip spelling with this app- if they left out Spelling I would continue with this but I HATE SPELLING. And spelling is NOT needed to learn a language. They advertised it a match words and pictures, would have really enjoyed that..Version: 1.2.2

User face really needs workLooks like it could be a good app, but within 5 minutes of using it’s put me off. The first vocab tests requires you to type words or phrases but if said phrase is more than one word you can’t add a space and it views it as incorrect and prevents you continuing? Seems a really basic thing to miss. Shame..Version: 1.2.11

£25.99 for 2 months; £17.99 for 6 months (both full version)??.Version: 1.2.2

Thanks for the $80 hitApp very specifically said in the free trial signup that a reminder would be sent before you were charged. No reminder was sent, charged me at the *highest* plan price, which was $79.99 for the year..Version: 1.2.6

Love the app. But freezes when I try to do the speech?Find this app really effective. However. App freezes everytime I try to do the speech recognition therefore have to stop learning and don’t progress. Therefore I didn’t end up buying it. If they fix this then I would 100% recommend..Version: 1.2.12

Good App but Do Not SubscribeAfter the free trial they offer a two month subscription for $29.99. This is a scam! The three month membership is only $19.99; that’s more membership for less money. If the developer reads his I would like a refund and an extension please. Then I will change review to five stars. Thanx!.Version: 1.2.11

Read before waisting time answering questionsPassed on purchasing for a few reasons. The “in app purchase” section said there was a offer for 3 months for just 12.99, after answering some questions the app only gave me two options, 14.99 for 2 months or 79.99 for 1 year. In addition to this, there is no option try the app before purchasing. It doesn’t even give you the option to see the layout of the app prior to a purchase..Version: 1.2.1
