✓ Can’t add plantsI’m guessing this may be user error since no one else seems to have reported it, but I’m on an iPhone 12 running iOS 15.6. I downloaded the app and made sure it could access my camera, but when I go to add a plant, the “snap you plant” screen is just black with no functionality. The only thing I have the option to do is X-out of adding a photo, which means I’m not able to add a plant at all. It’s a real bummer, I had high hopes. Giving 2 stars because I imagine this app would be good if it worked on my phone..Version: 1.3.3
✓ Great AppUpdate. Very disappointed to open the app to water my plants today only to discover I need to pay now to access information all my plants. Only one is free. easy to use, able to name each plant. App identified quickly my plants. Love the watering reminder and ability to log date watered. And it’s free! No in app purchases. ✓ No Free VersionI downloaded and used this app for a total of 5 minutes to identify some plants, got to identify 3, before being totally shut out of every single feature in the app unless I follow the consistent and annoying prompt to subscribe and pay monthly or weekly for this. I understand having a “premium” version, we all gotta make money but aside from the ridiculous pricing, there is NO free version at all. After using just that one identification feature 3 times, I now can’t add a single plant, can’t use the diagnosing feature, can’t use or set up a watering schedule because it won’t let me add a single plant. At that point just charge people to download the app because it’s extremely pointless for people like me who genuinely need and are looking for a free plant care app because they can’t afford to sling money wherever. Woulda saved my time if this was advertised correctly because it makes less sense to me to download an app I cannot use in any sense without throwing in some money regularly. So to sum it up, no part of this is free. You get to try out a single feature of your choosing for a couple moments then you have to PAY a subscription to use ANY part of the app at all. So great for money-bags who don’t have to worry about where they spend their money, not-so-great for the countless people who are struggling and just trying to practice some self-care through plant-care..Version: 1.7.1
✓ I’ve used this a few yearsWhen I first discovered this app it was great and really helped me identify poisonous plants around my house and helped me keep track of of the watering schedule for my plants. Over the last few updates it’s started miss identifying plants and even changing my watering schedules from every 2 weeks like I have been doing the last 10 years to now every 2 days and the only way I can change this is to pay for it.Version: 1.7.1

✓ Issues with NotificationsI like the app but I don’t understand how notifications work. Do they come up at a certain time of day or is there a way to edit this? I have to physically open the app to see when to water my plants but I’d rather it actually notify me. Notifications are turned on in my settings on my phone but I don’t get any from the app itself..Version: 1.7.1
✓ Missing basic plantsFirst plant I tried to add it misidentified. Then I tried to manually look up the plant, but it seems they don’t even have it in their library. It’s a pretty common coffee plant (coffea arabica) so pretty strange they don’t have it. Edit: After testing some more plants, it only got 2/6 correct. Spider plant + weeping fig were correct, jade plant + money tree + neon pothos + coffee plant were wrong..Version: 1.1.15
✓ Worked for two days then stoppedI purchase the yearly subscription and it worked for one day then all of my plants that I entered into the app disappeared from My Garden list. The first time this happened all of my plants reappeared in My Garden list. That was short live because two days later the same thing happened and this time it didn’t reappear like it did previous. I keep getting an error message that says “Ups we have an connection error” and nothing from My Garden section of app appears. I tried to start all over again but can’t. I keep getting the previous mentioned error message. I waited my $40 something dollars for this. Sent message to app designer and waiting for some type of response..Version: 1.6.5

✓ Love hate relationshipI have been using planty for months and loved it, but all of a sudden I can no longer view my any of my plants information because the app changed everything to premium and now I have to pay. This app took away all of my plants past data and now I can no longer access them. This honestly hurts me emotionally, these plants are my babies and now, all of their info gone just like that 🫰. One thing I loved about this app was that it was free and now that that is gone it’s worthless, I don’t recommend!.Version: 1.3.1
✓ Apps OkayI like that I can identify all my plants and name them. Just make sure you have them in good light or the identification might be incorrect (which happened to me). But I can’t for the life of me get the light meter to work. All my plants it says are in the dark - which they are not. I’ve clicked, moved and even put in direct sunlight and nothing changes. Wish there were instructions. This is basically why I wanted this app - got identification and lighting. Oh well..Version: 1.2.1

✓ Used to be freeI have been using this app for months, it has been tremendous help with keeping my plants alive and healthy. Then today I went to check my plants that needed to be watered, and all of my plants were locked and when I tried to see them, it said I needed premium. This was never indicated in any description or anything else regarding the app. A friend recommended it to me and she never said anything about having to pay. In fact she stressed that it was free. I will be using google, and a moisture meter from now on because I will not be paying for “premium” features that are clearly stated in the “free” version’s description..Version: 1.3.1
✓ This app is good, but….It would be nice if we could update plant photos, maybe keep a timeline of growth, and most importantly, it would be nice to be able to update conditions such as when the plant was repotted, and how often watered. Right now the features are extremely limited. One photo per plant, cannot change the watering schedule, and really the only thing that can be done is to take a pic of the plant, and maintain the watering schedule. I guess for $40 a year, it would be nice to have better features. Not entirely sure it’s worth $40 a year as it stands. Definitely a lot of room for improvement. Three stars cuz I appreciate that it lets me know how often my plants need water, but outside that, it’s probably a 1.5/2 star app at best..Version: 1.6.9
✓ YikesI don't know what has changed since that review from May 25 but I am getting CONSTANT pop ups for the premium version and it basically doesn't do anything without it. The photo tool is extremely awkward. It gives you a portrait style frame to center your plant in but the resulting photo is in landscape and not even centered correctly. The identifier is just straight up wrong for nearly every plant I tried, but it would seem that using their identifier to add plants to your garden is the only available free option. Any time I tried to simply search the names I already know for my plants to add them to "my garden", it gave me the premium ad. It didn't say that feature was premium only; it just kept directing me to the ad and refusing to add my plants until I figured out it was a premium feature. So in summary, the only way to use the free version is to let the app misidentify your plants based on a picture that is impossible to take correctly. With a pop up for premium pretty much every time you tap anything at all. Thanks guys. 😏.Version: 1.3.5

✓ Was free but now…I’ve loved this app! It’s easy to use, had great features and most of the time would provide me with the information I needed. I went in this morning and all my plant information was locked and it’s requiring me to pay for the premium app being 9.99 a month or other payment plans. ✓ Got GreedyI’m new to plants and this app was a lifesaver. I could see what kind of plant it is, what light and soil it needs and how often to water all at the click of a button. But of course all good things have to come to an end because now you have to pay for all those features other than seeing how often to water. ✓ Subscription-based now, ruined the app!I loved this app and used it regularly to get info about my plants’ care needs and keep track of when I last watered them! I liked it because it was (ORIGINALLY) one of the only plant apps I could find that WASN’T subscription-based or required me to make an account. ✓ It keeps crashing and losing all my Data..So I really like this app. I even liked it so much that I paid the $40 a year subscription. Everything was going well for about two weeks and then it had a loading error message on it and I lost all my plants information. I tried to delete the app and download it again with no success. I canceled my subscription got a refund. Did my phones update and tried to download the app again where I then bought. ✓ Not free as lead to believeAtteliy the Hun, wrote A lovely review all about this app. They stated that you were not going to be tricked into buying a membership. However after you state all of the things you want to use the app for, they immediately take you to a purchase page. This does not make this app free! Which also makes the Huns review false! I would be fine using this app for free if there were ads in it. The inconvenience of having to see those ads would be acceptable to me. ✓ Bait and switchDownloaded the app which it says is free to identify some plants which it did well, but all have a sudden I start receiving notices for a 6.99 charge on a weekly basis from my account. nowhere on the title page, on the description of the app or in the details does it say free trial and we automatically start billing on a weekly basis. To me that’s deceptive, shady and not something I would want. If you delete the application you also have to go into you Subscriptions section of your phone and cancel it there. ✓ Only partially satisfiedAs a tentative and frequently unsuccessful plant owner, I wanted to be able to identify, catalogue and set a watering/plant food schedule to hopefully help my plants thrive. I thought this app sounded perfect— free, user-friendly and informative. It is only useful for plants with which I’m already familiar though. The Planty photo identifier feature did not recognize/identify any of my plants. I tried taking a photo of each plant directly through the app and I tried uploading photos to the app. NOPE! Message received: “Hmmm, looks like we’ll have to get our plant detectives on this” and then just searching, searching, searching and never identifying. Then it offers me the chance to scan through its long list of catalogued plants many that look similar due to the tiny pictures. That’s not helpful because the whole point is I need assistance figuring out what some of the plants are and the best way to care for them. Le sigh. . . 🥺.Version: 1.0.1

✓ Needs workWhen you first install, you are invited to Add to your Garden so you excitedly snap a pic of one of your plants but then, instead of telling you what plant it is, it asks you to name it. As in, give it a made up name. It even has dice roll suggestions such as ‘Kylie Brenner’. Now I don’t know about you but I don’t care about naming each of my plants, I just want to know what they and what the issues are that are preventing them from being 100% healthy. This app doesn’t diagnose problems. It does give a general care guide but the English is pretty poor. Incidentally, ignore the Add to My Garden bit and go straight to ‘Identify’ to find out what plant you’re dealing with. But there must be a better app out there..Version: 1.2.1
✓ Pay to useI cannot even access pictures of my cactus plants now that they are charging to use the app. I used the pictures to track growth. I could see charging you add new ones, but at the very least show support to the users that have been using the app early on and let them access their plant info. To be honest, the app was never accurate on identifying plants anyway. We just used it for photos and information of plants we have that we identified ourselves. Offering a $10 discount on a $40 monthly subscription for loyal users is a pretty lame way to send thanks to those of us that have stuck around. Uninstalling..Version: 1.3.5

I tried searching for holy basil but it wasn’t even listed on there. Please update the app to recognize plants that are grown in other countries and how to care for them. ✓ Glitches & CostsI don’t recommend if you’re not willing to pay. It revolves around you paying for the subscription. I was trying to upload a picture of my plant. You only get one plant on your list with out paying. It was freezing and glitching so I closed and opened it back up and tried to add my plant again and said I had already added it. They gave him the name matt Damon and I didn’t getting to see any of the other steps in the process so I deleted my plant so I could try again and be able to do the steps. I did that, and now I cannot use the app at all with out paying. Can’t even add my one freaking plant. This is my first plant and y’all really made this beyond irritating..Version: 1.3.5
