✓ Great jobThis is a unique experience that would be difficult to replicate. I appreciate the plot(s) and the ending. Or rather the sort of ending before the real ending. Good script, actors, and planing to make this come together. Some of the controls can be a little twitchy on the phone but that’s okay..Version: 0.1.47
✓ Hauntingly beautiful game for adultsI absolutely adored Immortality, and playing it is an experience I won’t soon forget. It requires a lot of space on your device, so I had to download it on my iPhone instead of my iPad like I originally planned, which was unfortunate but that didn’t stop me from getting completely sucked in by the narrative(s). I’ve heard playing with a controller is better, but even if you don’t (like I didn’t), it shouldn’t take away from your experience. I don’t want to write too much more because part of what enchanted me so much was that I was not expecting things to happen while I was scrubbing the clips to discover the mysterious disappearance of Marissa. But if you don’t play with a controller, just keep your ears and eyes open. Not for the faint of heart (there’s some adult content) or people who want a game with more gameplay, you are basically watching clips and swiping on objects to match cut you to another clip. But there were parts that were so unexpected and quite terrifying that I never felt bored. I can’t recommend Immortality highly enough; just make sure your device has enough room for it. Oh, I didn’t have experience any bugs like some of the other reviews, and it really just takes a little getting used to the “controls” (how to swipe, pinch, etc. to make different things happen to the video clips)..Version: 0.1.48

Now.I have a really hard time summarizing how good this game is in a manner that’s both succinct and doesn’t give away its secrets, so I’ll just tell you that Immortality is earth shatteringly good. ✓ An interesting take on FMVSam Barlow does once again giving an experience like never before! From a game that was originally produced for PC and Xbox now comes with a mobile port for most players to enjoy. Even though the controls may be finicky at times, it does not stop us from the engaging story and a wonderful performance of the lead actress. On a side note: While this app is listed with a storage capacity of around 200 MBs, it’s actually 13 GBs due to the needed files of the films. ✓ Fantasy Erotic ThrillerCould not get my mom to play it because the goal is unclear and the content warning put her off. I played it on my own and found it’s an erotic thriller with Neil-Gaiman-style fantasy elements. If you’re a fan of American Gods or Sandman like me, you’ll probably enjoy this as much as I did. Either way you’ll have to tolerate a fair amount of nudity and violence, along with the seemingly directionless way the game progresses..Version: 0.1.47
✓ Loved it on XboxBe aware you’ll need 10Gb of free space to complete this install. It is basically played by watching a tonne of video clips. ✓ Unique Game with interesting playThis game encourages the player to sift through scenes from three movies, to uncover what really happened. It is unlike almost any other game, and worthy of a full day of play from an adult. (The content is truly 17+) I enjoyed the mystery involved, and I enjoyed uncovering the story behind the movie scripts. ✓ Very cool, immersive and... buggyVery cool and immersive! Immortality is the kind of game that Netflix should keep sponsoring. It has everything a movie lover wants: excellent acting, dense characters, an engaging atmosphere, a good soundtrack and a great script. Directing this must have been a challenge. Kudos to Sam Barlow and team. The tech crew must solve the bugs that really hinder the *mobile experience* and introduce some way for you to visualize your progress in the game (achievements). ✓ WowI only stumbled on this game because I’m on vacation and opened Netflix on my iPad. I didn’t know Netflix had games, I saw this and checked it out. I was very skeptical at first. . . Actually that skepticism never went away until it was over and I was screen capturing the credits to learn about the artist who created this piece. Is skeptical the word? Reluctant curiosity? Fear? I don’t know. This game is not for everybody but it is a very powerful piece. Not for the feint of heart..Version: 0.1.48
✓ Can’t beat mind-bending and “free”As other reviews have noted, this port has some annoying technical glitches — for me, I can’t get over how the main interface buttons float over the film reel, meaning that clips placed on the left side are incredibly hard to access without accidentally pushing one of the buttons. This is a flagship game for Netflix to have, and yet it really does seem to lack the polish and labor of love you’d expect for the caliber of title. That said, this is an innovative, lavish title well worth the $15 it costs on other platforms. It’s a no-brainer to at least try for free if you have Netflix already. I recommend going in with zero knowledge about the game’s plot and goals.Version: 0.1.47

UPDATE: The game seems to have completely stopped working. Keeps making me re-download the game data, sometimes the counter goes over 100%, sometimes it never finishes, the one time it did finish it just crashed out and when i restarted it told me i need to download the data again. ✓ SuperbSo I finally managed to download this game and I’m so glad I persevered as it’s excellent. A huuuuge game! The acting is marvellous by all, I can’t even imagine the amount of work that went in to it. Sam Barlow is a genius at this type of game. I’m not sure if I’m playing it right as I can’t figure out how to put things in order and am just finding as many clips as possible, I love the surprise….. you know the one! ✓ UnusualThis game is HUGE (12gb plus) so I made sure I had plenty of space. I wasn’t sure what this game was at the beginning and then you kind of get drawn in. It’s like a strange interactive modern art/theatre exploration through different video clips that slowly reveal what is going. The actors do a great job and the production is high quality. The only thing I could have done with is some sense of progress or milestones/achievements to guide the way..Version: 0.1.47

✓ Five stars for game, four stars for portTHE GAME: This game is an excellent progression on the ideas & techniques being explored in their previous game Her Story. The casting & making of the clips themselves have experienced a huge jump in quality & clearly used a bigger budget incredibly effectively to tell their stories, & the writing & scenes beautifully outline the themes both of these games cover & explore. There are multiple levels of investigation happening at any one time that keeps the game compelling even if the actual gameplay loop is technically quite repetitive - not a critique but an observation. The effort required by the loop to unearth the story gives a sense of achievement when you discover a significant piece of information to your investigation. THE PORT: The most recent updates appear to have resolved most of the major bugs mentioned in other reviews, however I did encounter issues with stuttering playback on some clips - mainly longer ones or encountered more when I’ve played for a while and accessed a number of clips. A few times this resulted in crashes. Usually restarting the game resolves most of these, but stuttering was fairly persistent at regular-speed playback. I did have to fight the controls with certain clips when attempting to find a particular reverse and there was one that I never managed to get to trigger, which was frustrating when I was very engaged with the reversed narrative line and in light of that sense of achievement I mentioned above somewhat undermines the driving force pushing you to complete the game in spite of the precise, methodical and slightly janky gameplay. My final issue was that I managed to trigger one of the finale clips very early on in my playthrough and given that it is very form-breaking I was confused by its mechanics and then when I was ‘ready’ to play that moment I was unable to find/trigger it again - I don’t know if that was user error on my part or if that clip *can* only be played once, but it seems odd that it is even possible to trigger that particular clip as early on as I did, I was still working on Ambrosio and you’d think that clip trigger would be restricted to 2OE at least. FOR FUTURE PLAYERS, if you like more postmodern takes on notions of narrative and self and art, this is a must-play. If you enjoy hunting for information and putting complex narratives together yourself, this is a must-play. I would argue if you are interested in being a film actor this is a must-play as you see a lot of the inside of making a movie while playing through the game as it covers a wide range of different styles and techniques. Even analysing the fantastic performances of the actors in the clips themselves constitute an invaluable resource that is different to watching a completed film..Version: 0.1.48
