Logic Pro for iPad Pros
✓ ImpressiveI’ve been using an iPad Pro since 2015. The killer app used to be Notion iOS, then AudioBus, AUM, Cubasis, StaffPad and Dorico. Now Logic for iPad is here and it’s good. Very good. Unlike Dorico for iPad, Logic isn’t an exact clone, (neither is Dorico really), but it has most of the features one needs on a day to day basis. Advanced features such as the Environment, Movie import and SMPTE syncing (among others), are saved for the MacOS version only, but I wouldn’t expect those to be here anyway, (although I could see movie import added someday). Pros: Mixer AUv3 instruments Keyboard Preset Browser Built-in instruments and plugins Cons: (not many) Vertical zooming for tracks (although windows have zooming and full screen zoom. ✓ Incredible at lastIt’s been a long wait, but was worth it. The depth and breadth that’s delivered here is staggering and it all works well on my iPad mini 6 so super portable! I think Apple have (as you’d hope) done a remarkable job with the touch UI and pencil and I can’t think of anything equivalent out there that works nearly as well and without crashing every 10 minutes. Looking forward to full remote midi / Mackie control and also being able to use Logic Remote from a second cheap iPad to control the mixer would reduce all the window jumping. I think it’s worth pointing out that the stock sounds and synths are really good and seem to use very little resources. Audio Units seem to work well too. I also love Loopy Pro so would be amazing if this worked properly - at the moment it seems you can get audio into Loopy running as an AU instrument via the side chain, but you can’t get the multiple outputs even using the hacks that I’ve seen on YouTube which do work with multi out synths...Version: 1.0
