✓ Fantastic apart from one small mini game glitchLove these each year, a gift from my thoughtful mum. But one of the mini games in the home base - where you make words out of a grid of letters - keeps glitching and making it impossible to solve by the rules of the game, with letters disconnected from one another in the medium and hard levels of flora and Christmas (that I’ve found so far). This doesn’t affect the play of the main calendar though. Other than this small annoyance, well done and worth the purchase..Version: 1.1.2

✓ Loving the Sussex adventI’ve been gifted the JL advent calendar since it started (maybe?) and loved each year but sometimes found myself missing certain parts. This year the project team seems to have really incorporated previous years feedback and I am loving my Sussex advent. I love how each year is unique and this year seems to be a great mix of daily videos, games and activities. ✓ Advent has begun!I have this downloaded on an iPhone, iPad Mini 5, iPad 2019 & iPad Air 5. It works beautifully on all of them. I had a few issues with sound on two of the devices, but it was a settings error on my part, and easily resolved by reading the help pages. I love the way the picture builds up and becomes more interactive as each day is opened. Little things like the church clock which reflects the actual time. The decorated tree in Bev’s Curio (of course you have to decorate the tree first) and how it changes as you change the tree in the window. So many beautiful details. It’s my second year of having the Advent calendar. I think it is a super gift to myself. Music is so traditional too..Version: 1.1.1
✓ Nice and differentI’ve been getting the Advent calendar for the last 4-5 years and each one is unique. I’ve already decorated my tree and made my snowflakes. I love that the clock is there again, making the winding noise when you touch it. ✓ The only thing that makes me feel festiveMy granny has bought me this advent calendar for as long as I can remember. I am 19 so it has been a very long time. Everything about it gets better every year, this year there are so many more mini games, the first couple of videos were creative and interactive and the setting overall is just beautiful. I am disappointed to see reviews complaining about the tiniest of changes when overall this wonderful app improves majorly every year. I would much rather have new presents in the house that you can tap and they unlock a game or puzzle, than the ability to tap a dog and his head move up and down. Anyway, it is a massive part of my childhood and now adulthood and I am over the moon when I see they are released each year. Also everything works perfectly on my iPad..Version: 1.1.1

The only exception is the word game flora medium level three as it only has one tile with the letter I so there is no way to advance. Sure wish that could be fixed. ✓ Deserves a kinder responseDoes not deserve the grumpy reviews and low scores. I suspect it’s being gifted to people with less than optimal device skills and perhaps not particularly updated phones. It works beautifully for us and the “Sussex village” (happily in no way inspired by Sussex reality) is a lot more Christmassy than last year’s sad parade of the 25 worst cliches of tourist London. ✓ PerfectThis works fine for me on my iPad and Mac, both of which have been updated to the current operating system. If you haven’t bothered, or can’t update your iPad to iOS 13 or above then may be it’s not for you. ✓ Such a fun and creative calendar!I have gotten every JL Advent calendar and love seeing the progression of the skills and creativity over the years to this absolutely amazing 2022 calendar. It’s the little extra surprise you find when you click on an area that make it so fun. I send these to family members every year and we text every day sharing what we have found and how cute and fun that day of the calendar is. The most important thing is that JL has not lost their sense of who they are as a card company and what sentiment they want to portray and that’s why I am such a devoted follower of their company and send their cards all year long. Great job staff! PS……one tiny regret this year is that the kitten is not in the home place. ✓ Amazing! Way better than the previous year’s editionsLast year and the year before’s Jacquie Lawson calendars were a letdown, although this one completely turns the tables!! The animations are way more interactive, on each day there is presents unlocked in the house which can be games, puzzles or decorations. The last couple years’s calendars had exclusively videos/animations, although now, it is a mix of that and fun games and ways to customise your calendar’s streets. ✓ Beautiful, As Always!I’ve been buying Jacqui’s Advent calendars for the past few years. The Sussex calendar is just as beautiful as in previous years. For anyone who opens it on day one and thinks ‘where is all the animation?’, just wait - day by day, each door opens to reveal a new scene, until the whole village is filled with interactive features. ✓ Annual TraditionI received my first JL advent calendar in 2006 as a gift, and I’ve gotten them almost every year since! First, my own boys LOVED opening their little videos each day and exploring the app. NOW, I teach 1st grade and I can project it onto my whiteboard...with my little magic pen, the kids can interact right at the whiteboard! ✓ Generally goodThey had a hard time making the transition to using an app instead of a website but it’s generally back to being good. A couple of concerns. On my download in the word game, Flora level medium, level 3 doesn’t work which means that I can’t do the rest of that level. Other one is always before when you found the gnome, he showed up in the room. Not doing it this year. Finally the daily surprise is just a video. The reviewer whose opinion that I completely agree with calls him/herself “Kahsbdnadyejfbc”. Like her/him I’m very disappointed that other reviewers have the audacity to complain!!!! Having had a calendar each year since the first issued, I had been rather disappointed with the last couple of years, especially the fact there were simply videos and no activities revealed in the daily bauble. But this year has been a true return to form, with excellent ”tasks” incorporated in some of the days, a bit of a challenge in place to find the elves and the daily present within the room. However, I’ve been disappointed the past few years as there seemed to be fewer and fewer activities and more and more videos. I actually thought more than once about skipping this year. ✓ Better than the chocolate advent calendarsLove this calendar, it’s a highlight each year. Having some troubles with the iPad app this year though - the sound won’t work no matter what I do, so sadly no Christmas music or sound effects. Anyone else have this issue?.Version: 1.1.1
